Keep safe tonight.
President Bush has a few years left in office and something has occurred to me. He probably is getting the itch to invade another country. Now some extremist would say we should not let him invade any countries at all. I think this is the wrong approach.
I want to drop a few pounds. I have found the best way to lose weight is not to stop eating cold turkey. The best thing to do is try and cut back and just leave the table when I am content. That way I don’t have to gain any more weight and I still get to eat.
The same principle should be applied to our President. Instead of asking him to not invade countries, I think we should ask him to invade a country that causes the least amount of damage.
I have been thinking about Canada. Now I realize I have several subscribers from Canada. But I want you first to hear my reasoning. The reason that we should invade Canada is that they have universal health care. I think anyone from Canada would admit this is totally not fair. Why should everyone in Canada have health care when people in the United States have none? I have also heard that the Canadians get their prescriptions filled for less than we can here in America. This may be based on faulty intelligence but it is what I have heard. By invading Canada for their prescription drugs, we will drive down the cost of prescription drugs here in America. It will work just like the gas issue when we invaded Iraq. We invade and the price of gas went straight down.
Now to my subscribers in Canada I have a special message. You will greet us as liberators. We will destroy some of your infrastructure. But we will rebuild it. It will only take us about 20 years. But I think in the long term you will be much better off when you find out how wonderful the American way of life is. We may have to stay for awhile but that will just be until you can get on your feet again.
Which country would you like to see the President invade in his last few years as President? (Extra points will be given for creativity).
Should colleges take race into consideration in admissions in order to cause their schools to be diverse?
A friend of mine was in the military. We were stationed at the same base together. We would often times drive home for the weekends because we lived near the same place. One day we were talking and he said he had been pulled over by police three times in his life where he was also frisked. He felt it was because he was black. I told him I was never frisked by a police officer before. He was raised in Chicago. He was pretty clean cut and stayed out of trouble. He told me that most of his friends had been frisked too.
I noticed after 9/11, there was talk that we should focus attention on special people groups. I can just imagine if I worked in airport security during that time that I would be tempted to watch some people more carefully than others.
Is it appropriate for law enforcement personnel to watch certain people groups more carefully when performing their duties?
Is there a greater emphasis placed in our country on racism against blacks than there is on other races like Asians and Hispanics?
I did something dumb today while I was headed back from Texas. I made an assumption about someone’s motives. I pulled into a gas station and tried to pump my gasoline. It wouldn’t pump so I went inside thinking it was prepay. I was so upset because I hate to prepay. I asked the cashier if it was prepay and he said “Yes.” So I paid $20 and went back to my car to pump my gasoline. The pump wasn’t working. The lady right across from me started to pump her gasoline without prepaying. She was black and so was the cashier. I wondered why she didn’t have to prepay. I asked her if she had to prepay. She said no and started to pump. I walked back in and another black lady was paying for her gas after the fact.
I was upset at this point because my pump was not working and these people didn’t have to prepay. So I asked him if only certain customers have to prepay and other customers did not. He said, “No.” He told me that he asked me when I came in whether I was going to fill up. He said that if you don’t fill up it is prepay. This made absolutely no sense to me at all. Then after a few moments he admitted this was his first day and he was messing up everything. I felt he was being honest and felt foolish for my thinking it had to do with race.
To what degree is race still a factor in our thinking in this country?
I don’t normally leave prayer request. But tonight I want to leave one. I know a person on xanga who I think can use prayer. In addition, to going through chemo there are other challenges in her life. So if you have a moment, pray for her. Her site is Mamabaseball12.
In the Bible there is an impressive story about two guys who were named Paul and Silas. In Acts 16:25, it says “About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.”
In this story Paul and Silas were in prison and yet they found themselves praying and praising God. When difficulties come into my life, I pray and complain. But these two guys were praying and praising God at the same time. I am so impressed with their attitude in their prayer.
So if you have a prayer request, leave it here. Pray for as many as you can. But at least pray for the person above you. If you have time, go tell the person above you that you prayed for them.
Do you have any prayer request?
Just a quick note. There is a xanga party over at mafrenzy’s site. Everyone is invited.
Here we go:
I was with my dad in a grocery store when I was a kid. A few young people who looked like teenagers were stealing stuff and sticking it in their pockets. My dad informed the manager that the people were stealing a few small items.
If you were in this same situation, what would you do?
# 1 Report it to the manager.
# 2 Ignore the young people and mind your own business.
# 3 Tell the young people to stop stealing or you will report them.
# 4 Help them plan the getaway.
Would you rather be seen naked by your family or by your spouse’s or significant other’s family?
