  • Prom

When I was a junior in high school, I wanted to go to my prom.  I was at work one night and was working with this one girl.  I kind of liked the girl but had never asked her out.  I had a friend who had just asked her to go to prom with him but she said she couldn’t go with him.  She told him her parents wouldn’t let her go.  I thought that was probably just an excuse so I thought I would ask her.  I felt it was a risk to ask this girl out because she worked with me.  I knew if I started something I would still have to work with her.  I was at the stage in my life where I didn’t want a girl creating a lot of drama for me.  But she was cute so I decided to ask her out.

We had to go down to the storeroom to get some items.  I asked her if she wanted to go and she said “Yes.”  I was looking forward to my prom.  I wanted it to be special.  I didn’t want to go with a girl I had gone out with before.  I liked the idea of going with a girl to prom that would be a first date.  I always liked first dates.  I thought it would make the night more magical.  She was super short and I was tall.

The night couldn’t have been more perfect.  I didn’t go out with her before prom even though I asked her out a month or two in advance.  The night was carefully planned by me but also very spontaneous.  We danced and held hands.  I think we looked funny on the dance floor with me being so tall and her being short.  But I quickly forgot about that.  I just loved the way her hair was fixed and the cute dress she was wearing.  Everything about her was perfect.  I was a little more straight laced and she was less that way.  But it made for a great combination.

We went out to Chicago that night and got lost.  I brought her home at about 5 in the morning.  And then we kissed.  It was a simple kiss but very special.

What was your greatest high school memory?

  • Graduating, I hate all that drama crap.

  • i wanna go to prom again.

  • I have so many.  Thanks for sharing yours.

  • Awwww what a cute story!

  • My valedictory speech.

  • to be the “best-looking couple”.      So, everyone says.

  • Wearing a dress to chapel!

  • I saw your xanga listed on the featured content list yestersday so I am dropping by.

Thanks for sharing your story. I would have to say my greatest memory of  high school was also the prom but I went with a good male friend and we had the best time. Oh the memories!

    Have a good day.

  • HHmm…I didnt stay long in hs, I came and graduated quick so I dont have many memories except for bf memories during hs.   I missed out

  • Winning the state drama competition with my best friend.

  • wow that is a great story.. i don’t know what my greatest high school memory was.. but i remember being one of the 13 valedictorian of my class (everyone who had an unweighted 4.0 became a valedictorian)

  • Great post. I really didn’t have too many memorable moments, I loved school but didn’t get into much of anything.  I was too busy chasing boys and being cool, although I wasn’t too cool but thanks for your story.

  • im in a reading mood today THEOLOGIAN,  so can you continue to be wordy today  to help me out? I have a killer headache from drinking too much last night.

  • First dates were very exciting.  I’ll never forget my first date with my husband.  Going to prom with him was probably my best memory.  I love looking back at the pictures.

  • My memory about prom was that I took my sister and this one other girl who was a friend of mine, but nothing romantic.  I was hanging out and I saw this girl who was a “special ed” kid.  she was super short, had a speech impediment, and a withered hand and foot.  I don’t know if it was polio or what.  But she was standing by the window looking out, and I felt sorry for her.  I went up to talk with her and found out she had called her Mom to come get her on accout of she was having no fun because nobody wanted to dance with her.  As if on que, the slow dance music started, and I said “if you think your Mom won’t mind the wait, I would be honored to have a last dance with you before you go.”  That seemed to make her night.  I was never that popular in School, and I’m sure I wasn’t her dream dancer, but it made her melt, and that was enough for me.

Wow!  I’m in the top 20!

  • senior trip and wake boarding with one of my buddies!

prom was good, but never that picture-perfect.

  • I was such an extreme introvert in the past so I really didn’t have much memories in high school. I became a semi-introvert as I grew older which is a good thing… =D

  • Graduating and getting the heck out of there.

  • Believe it or not I loved HS….I’d go back in a heartbeat.  I came from a very small school….my class graduated with 38!!! We all got along and 75% of my class was on the honor roll…..we just had a good class, so I have tons of great memories!

  • Graduating.

    L,r

  • I have none. I was a mom by the time i was 16, and HS sucked for me. I was never a popular person, was picked on all the time, the only time anyone was ever really polite to me was when I was pregnant. (there’s something about the teen bellies that poked out that made all the ghetto fellas protective of them, very strange phenom, lemme tell you). Actually, there was only one time I was really truly happy – that was in photog. class. I loved being in the darkroom. I met my soul there too….he’s the fella that was here this summer that I was to be married too. I dunno. maybe things will work out eventually for us, but yeah, that’s about the only time i was happy. other than that, HS sux’d!!!

  • I’m still in it, and I’m homeshooled; don’t have one as yet…

  • huh… well the first thing that popped into my mind was actually freshman year PE. all the basketball and all the fights and at the time two of my best friends… hmm… i find it rather odd that this first popped into my mind out of everything else… i guess i just had a ton of fun with my friends in basketball… weird…

  • I hated high school, I’ve tried but I honestly can’t think of any memories that stand out :-/

  • Probably one of my *fondest* memories are of a ‘friend’ asking me if I was gay.  Just because I didn’t go out with a different guy each month like she did.  And sleep with them like she did.  No, I wasn’t and am not now, gay.  All I had to do was to look at her life and learn to never do what she did.
I think God protected me from the peer pressure of her kind of life, and helped me to wait to have boyfriend/s until I was strong enough to do what I resolved to do and that was to wait until I was married for that anticipated intimacy.

That girl, I heard, ended up pregnant, never stayed with the same guy, flitted around from person to person….and was not only into boys.  Good thing that I didn’t form my idea of a ‘friend’ from her.

  • i’m not sure, I’m only a sophmore though.

  • My Senior year prom was pretty awesome because I was crazy in love with my date.  (I married him, and I’m still married to him.)  I had no curfew either, and we stayed out all night (with other couples..not alone….) and went out to eat breakfast together the next morning.  Making it to Regionals in Volleyball was pretty great, too.  Good times.

  • well im in my first year of high school so i dont have many. but id have to say just hangin out and havin fun be it at games or watevr. always good times sofar. the best part is i got 2 more years of it.

  • Awwww, T H A N K S !!!!!

  • I’ll get back to you this May, when I graduate, ’cause what if something totally and completely awesome happens between now and then? Poof, I wasted my favorite memory on something that wasn’t as cool as whatever could happen in the next few months.

  • As a freshman I was dating a Sophmore, he was hispanic and also “Mr Football” and he had football practice every morning before school so he was always shower fresh and smelled strongly of just applied cologne and he would walk me to my class and we would hold hands and after he left I would slide into my desk and put my hands under my chin and I could smell his cologne. I would spend that hour of every day dreaming about him. Even to this day (20 years later)  that scent reminds me of him and gives me a feeling of peace and security.

  • Mine was playing in the playoffs for my High School Foot ball team my senior year.
Too Bad I didn’t go to my prom, it was at the Mariot in the World Trade Center.

  • Easy, my wedding. Got married spring break of my junior year of high school. Our 10th annivesary is coming up in March. I actually just got done posting the story cause one of my friends asked about it.

  • I went to a small private school. There were only six in my graduating class. No prom… we did do a senior night out that ended with the moron of the class trying to show off and spun out of the parking lot and hit my best friends car. The morons dad was chief of police… ya, it wasnt pretty.

  • I hated high school. My fondest memory was walking out and knowing I’d never need to go back.

  • oh that’s beautiful. Well I didnt’ attend my prom because I was pregnant with my 1st child..long story..

  • I can’t pick one. Probably every date that I had with my husband. He used to spoil me so much. :)

  • Graduation. Thanks for reminding me of how awful prom was.

  • just chillin with my freinds!! =)

  • Well, I’m only a freshman at high school now. So far, the greatest memory is getting a 100 in my Biology test, which is also my first A followed by a 81. Hehe! I usually failed it with a 65. 65 was my average test grade, and a 100 like, entirely surprised me. I even made a better grade than people smarter than me.

Well, everything else in my high school has been quite depressing. My grade like dropped so bad from middle school. I used to make really good grades, but I’m guessing that I made a low rank in my class so far. I’m nervous to even see my ranking because one semester is already complete.

  • On Wednesday, December 2nd, 2004 at 7:21AM, I asked my friend, Lisa, if she wanted to go out with me.  The next day, she gave me a letter that said yes, she would like to get to know me a little more intimately, and here we are, a little more than a year later, still loving and caring for one another.

  • If you read my New Years Day post, you already know mine…

  • I hated highschool.

Did not go to prom either…I was too “cool”  LOL.

ryc- thanks!  I think I’ll keep it for a while ;.)

  • Hmmm…I’m limited there….I attended public high school but my mom was so freaking strict and paranoid that I had a very limited experience.  She didn’t like for me and my siblings to attend proms and homecomings, go to football games or pep rallies, or participate in sports.  I had friends but I kind of kept them at arms lengths because I didn’t want to agitate my mom.

Here’s a couple memories that stand out:

I was a sophmore and our football team was undefeated and going to quarter-finals.  An announcement was made that we had been disqualified because one of our players was not actually living in our district (like across the line or something).  Right before school ended on a Friday the principal came on the speaker and announced that there was a ruling to allow us to move forward to quarter-finals.  My school (around 1000) erupted in cheering and an impromptu pep rally in the hallways.  It was a blast.  I did get to go to that quarter-finals game at Texas stadium (home of the Dallas Cowboys) which as cool … even though we lost.

I also remember having a secret admirer my senior year who would leave flowers on my locker and send a candy-gram that the cheerleaders were selling to be delivered to my class.  It was kind of flattering until I actually met him.  I came by one day to say it was him and … ewwww …. he was not my type.  I said thanks but I’m not interested.  He started following me to class and saying stuff like “you’ve got a fine ass” and “why won’t you go out with me?”  I finally had to tell him that he was creeping me out and if he didn’t stop I would go to the principal’s office and report him.

Okay…I’ve spent too much time on memory lane…I’ve got to go.

*** BTW that was a really nice story.  It sounded like a special time.  I hope you had a great Christmas and New Year!  :~D

  • RYC: Maybe so, maybe so, but I think I’ll stay that way :)

  • I guess getting our first VCR. That’s how old I am. High school itself sucked.

  • Hahaha….. my highschool experiences were rather embarrassing, because I’m a major klutz.

But now I’m homeschooled. So…. yeah. I think my favorite high school memory would be one of the Drama parties that we had, and the theme was the 1950′s. A few of my friends and I escaped from the Drama room and darted around the highschool, I guess just messing around and playing a mixture of tag and hide and seek. It isn’t much, but it really was one of the best memories from highschool. Just being a kid.

  • im a freshman in high school right now, so i still have some memmories to make. but i have really enjoyed my close circle of friends (its a Christian privite school). one night at a sleepover Christmas party, some of use stayed up till 6:30 am praying for eachother and just talking about Jesus. it was really really amazing.

  • Oh yeah, and thanks Dan for providing the inspiration for yesterday’s post. The latest comments are hysterical.

  • Awww..what a sweet story.

my story? — I have a prom story– So David was his name. And because he asked me to prom, I got dressed .. picked out my gown the night before–got all pretty uped. Sparkles in my hair ect..And I waited for him to pick me up. Well.. he was kinda late..and soemtiems you expect for things like that to happend. Well.. he never showed up. And I was all ready, pretty, smelling good..and I asked my mom if she could drop me off. at the school because I was going to go anyways. . she put on a proud face..and said yes. Sooo we arriave at the school.. and .. I dont’ see anyone. She asked me where the gym was.. so I showed her.. and there’s no cars.. no nothing.. I was confused. Then it dawned at me.. He didn’t show up because the prom wasn’t that night. It was the following night. I was soooo embaressed! I must of looked like a fool.. all pretty uped and no where to go. the next night.. I had to get all ready again.. and he came.. and I had a wonderful night dancing with him and my friends. But I didn’t say a word about what happend the night before.

  • My friend and I created a pantomime to take to theatre tournaments and such. In it, we were old men driving around and going to clubs. After getting rejected, we drive around for a bit and discover the fountain of youth right smack in the middle of the city. After returning to our younger selves, we head back to the club and pick up a couple of a girls.

Anyway, long-story-short, we ended up winning the state tournament. Here, whenever you win the state tournament, you can opt to perform your winning piece in front of all the people from all the schools that just so happen to be there watching the ceremonies. We opted. Oh, did we opt!

Later, my teacher told us it was the only standing ovation she’s ever seen at a tournament.

  • Leaving it!

  • A memory that stands out in high school???

Damn..now I see where my son gets his dislike for school..

    Happy New Years Dan

  • My boyfriend’s senior prom; I was a sophomore.  His jaw dropped and he just stood in the doorway, frozen, when he saw me in my prom dress.  The actual event was at a lake clubhouse; the balcony was lit with icicle lights and you could hear the water lapping against the sandy shore.  We just stood there, his arms wrapped around me, under the stars listening to the music drifting through the open doors.  We were the last couple to leave and shared the last dance to “Here’s to the Night.”  Every other high school memory dulls in comparison to those few precious hours.

    *~Christi~*

  • laying on zane mann’s bed with my friend danny. we were just goofing off and talking. it was wonderful. i had a crush on him. i think he was a true love instead of those fake love things….

  • My greatest memory is from my senior year when I spent over a month working on a very special sculpture in my art class. It was a sculpture about a song I liked called “Where Fishes Go” by Live. The sculpture has a lot to do with my grief over the death of a friend and also my hope for the future.

A lot of people’s memories involved other people, but my best time was spent at the same table, in the same chair, with headphones on. It was the very beginning of who I became in the next few years.

  • Aw..Thats so cute. Being short myself…I think being with a tall guy would be perfect. A nice fit when he would hug me =)

Hmm…I’ll let you know when I graduate. But I think graduating would actually be the best part. I won’t be able to attend prom, so thats out. Definitely graduating… ;)

  • either the time i did the worm across the football field at half-time.

    or

the time i mooned the entire brass section in a single move during marching band practice. (i was in drumline… this might explain my behavior)

  • Prom and Graduation come to mind….but there were a lot of everyday good times in high school.

RYC: I hadn’t thought about that! I will have to reconsider now.

  • Aw what a sweet story Dan. ^_^ Unfortunately I can’t remember anything from high school being that good… even graduation was depressing, because the more popular kids got all the cheers and I just got polite clapping. College was a blast tho, which makes up for it. Ask us what’s our favourite college memory ok?

  • None

RYC: Actually, I meant what Steven thought I meant, so I felt the edit was warranted.

  • How cute!  It reminds me of my youngest brother’s prom.  He took our other brother’s girlfriend’s best friend, who just broke up with her boyfriend and had no one to take her.  They just went as friends.  They’re now married and have a five year old and one on the way!

My greatest high school memory has to be the night of my senior homecoming dance.  A whole bunch of us went in a group and afterwards we went to a bunch of haunted houses and out to eat.  It was so much fun.  Ten years later I still get made fun of for things that happened that night!

  • Last week before I graduated.  Lots of fun.

  • I still think my best memory from high school was when our band won state marching contest….
it started raining *as soon as* we left the field, and we had to sit an extra 20 minutes in the rain while they deliberated, and as the numbers got closer and closer to first place, everyone was expecting either a huge letdown or a tremendous roar. When they called out 2nd place and it wasn’t us, we screamed so loud! I didn’t eve *hear* them say our band first, we all knew :D It was so great, we cried and partied in the parking lot until they kicked us out. When we got back there was a police escort for us into town, and people were gathered up at the school to say congratulations. It felt so great !!!

  • Since I was a freshman every year I have gone on a weekend long ski trip with kids from my school. Last years trip was by far the best one yet. My best friend Simon came [whom I have a huge crush on] and a bunch of other great kids. One of the teachers Mr. Myra brought his family on the trip. Well on the day we went skiing Mr. Myra desided he also wanted to learn to ski. It was by far the funniest thing I have ever seen. This guys is 300+ and when he went to go on the t-bar he fell. Watching him learn to ski ment we got to see him fall so many time. I suppose this might sound mean but if you knew him you would know why it was so funny.

Then back at the house [where we were staying] we made so many other great memories. I look foward to this coming ski trip knowing it is going to be a blast!

    Amanda

Ps. My other favorite memorie is the senior white water wrafting trip. Gosh I will never forget that trip either!

  • Fortunatly for me I managed to block most of high school out.  It was not a fun experience for me.

  • My pottery class and my prom.  Both were amazing and beyond special.

  • LOL.. high school just wasn’t for me.

  • Graduation!  I hated high school and wanted to get on with life and college.

  • probably when my friends Ryan and Jordan ran around on the roof of the school…they were eventually caught

  • The guy that ended up being my high school sweet heart asked me to Homecoming.  I was walking on air.  Had a crush and he had a small one on me.  The first time a guy felt the same about me as I felt about him.  Stayed friends after school…but I got the best compliment a few years later.  At some mutual friends house and he pulled one of the guys aside and said I looked better than I did in high school.

  • That’s such a great story… I’m a junior in high school right now and I’m kinda looking forward to my prom.  There’s this girl that I almost went out with not long ago who was very short and I’m really tall, it would be weird if it worked out like that for me!  Except… if we got lost in Chicago, her strict parents would have my head…. Dang…

    Troy

  • Graduating.

I hated high school. None of it was fun for me.

    Ew.

    ~Caroline~

  • i think my favorite high school memory was when i was on homecoming court and i had played summer softball with 14 girls from all over ohio and all of them showed up to my high school’s homecoming game and watched me get crowned – i almost fainted

  • i remember stoning a bully to death in the recess yard.

  • My best highschool memories are also the most painful. They involve the lady in todays post on my blog.

But I think I have one up on you finally. I had 4 proms. :)

  • Putting the valedictorian in the dirt.  I got more scholarships, more awards, more recognition, and I scored higher on the ACT.  High school was a running competition between us, and while he got valedictorian, I felt I won it all at graduation.  **big cheesy smile**

  • high school…. good memories…..
    kinda an oxymoronic question

  • I didn’t go to prom. My best memory. I donno. Just a general daze of my final year when everything seem to go perfect.

  • RYC: Yes, it’s from the 80s. I love it!

My favorite high school memory would have to have been our mission trip to Colorado Springs with our youth group.  It was such a blast!

  • wow just one?! there are so many…a lot with dance team and my best friend allison…but probably the greatest(well the one that sticks in my mind the most) is on a monday night i broke up with my boyfriend eric and the next day me and my current boyfriend(eric’s cousin hehe *angeliclook*) held hands on the way to a soccer game in which the game we were playing in i sprained my ankle really badly and his dad was there and was like is that the girl you like cuz i guess he saw davids face when i fell lol…but the next night we went to church and the pastor asked how many of you have a boy/girlfriend and we both just awkwardly looked at each other LOL and then after church he asked me if i wanted to be his girlfriend…that was 11/13/02 and we are still together…woohoo! lol i find that story kinda funny/ironic/messed up and lovely all at the same time lol

RYC:yeah…thats when i knew…there was NO escaping! lol

    Rachel

  • i think i just did a minipost as a comment….oops…lol..enjoy!

  • Hmmm….I wouldn’t know which one to pick.  My prom was a little different. I was dating my best friend’s (who was a guy) friend, and my best friend was dating my friend.  On April fool’s day, my friend and his friend called each other and agreed that they would break the news to us.  So my friend called me to tell me that my boyfriend was breaking up with me and my boyfriend called my best friend to tell him that she was breaking up with him.  Keep in mind that this is only a month away from prom and we were all planning on going together.  And no, they didn’t break up with us to go out with each other.  So me and my best friend went to prom and we had a great time.  He also taught me how to drive that night!

  • Getting expelled my junior year for writing a hitlist of 140 students and teachers in my blog…and coming to Christ as a result.

  • Mine involves two boys (get your mind out of the gutter!) One boy, Fred, was 6’4 and on the basketball team. He used to pick on me and embarass me all the time. The other boy, Alan, was a dear friend. He was really smart and only about 5’6. One day, Fred slapped me and I ran out of the classroom crying. Alan jumped right up and stood up to him. He could have been hurt. Then he came to see if I was okay.

30 years later, we’re still good friends. It turns out that Fred liked me, he just didn’t know how to deal with it so he used to torture me. MEN!

  • Hmmm… The Senior Trip was awesome. Also, the Senior Lock-In was nice. And prom, of course… I was bee-yuu-tee-full..

Senior year was my greatest memory to sum it up…

  • I am not sure what my greatest high school memory was.  I will say being third in my class.

  • its not just one amazing memory but certain people..my group of friends eating lunch everyday playing card games, going to the computer lab just to check up on our asianavenue pages..lol and highschool crushes, when i was too nervous to talk to my higshcool crush (i had a three year crush), i was soo shy back then i remeber walking into a room, seeing my HS crush and them taking three steps back onto my bestfriend…she never let me down for that..and lastly the teachers (i guess i was a nerd) i really respected and admire some of my highschool teachers.

  • Not going to homerrom for the 30 minutes and spending time with a few friends to exchange christmas gifts before school was out for the hollidays, turned out I got caught and received 2 days d-hall. It was all so very worth it!

I loved the prom and would love to do all of it over again!  I have been out of school for 21 yrears now.

  • hmm, probably the day I got my diploma.

  • Graduating, and getting done with that four years of nonsense.

Highschool was a complete and total waste of my time. I learned all I needed to in the first year or so. So I took the next three years off doing and studying whatever I wanted. I still had to put in the hours regardless of how much of a waste of time I thought it was.

How was I able to do this? I was homeschooled.

Yes, it’s been quite detrimental to my outcome. I only graduated Cum Laude with a bachelors in Computer Science.

Uh, isn’t PROM a type of computer memory?

  • let’s see here…there was prom king…homecoming court…4 proms…model un award winner…senior class president…i don’t know how i was so popular. but i kind of was. but i didn’t like high school. so i’d have to say graduation was my favorite. getting the heck out!

  • I hated high-school with a passion.  I was so glad to get out of that place that it wasn’t even funny.

  • Every morning when T.Tomaszewski smiled at me, that’s my best memory!

  • Umm, one of my friends had this big crush on this kid, so we would have sleepovers at this other girl’s house, because she lived close to the kid my friend had a crush on. Then she would bake cookies and we had mission impossible style missions where we would drop off the baked cookies and run. Hahaha, then we’d stay up all night hoping he didn’t know it was us.

  • When graduating – getting an art scholarship.  Getting my picture in the paper for a mural of a rock band that I painted on a wall @ my high school.

Making the drill team @ both high schools I attended (my fam moved my junior year) & wearing the cute costumes while performing.

    Candy

  • dude im still a freshman.

  • Skipping school and heading to the lake in the late spring.

  • neverbeen there yet but next year will i imagen be a whole nother world and i don’t feel like hanging with the drama.
    Erica

  • Probably ythe first night my husband and I kissed.  It caught us totally by surprise.  I’d had a crush on him for weeks, but I don’t know if he’d really ever thought of me seriously in that way before.  we were on our way back home after a late dinner after a football game, the 2 of us in the back of my friend’s van, and apparently I gave him this “look” while we was rubbing my neck and we just… kissed.  We got back to my friend’s house which was where our cars were parked, and he and I stayed out in front of her house till 3am I think just kissing and holding each other, completely lost in the moment and not wanting it to end.  It took us 3 weeks (ok, it took HIM 3 weeks) to figure out that we didn’t want to “just be friends” and that, yes, this thing was something worth pursuing.  That was over 8 yrs ago, and we celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary yesterday.

  • Hm, I find myself still locked within the doors of high school.

I will say that so much drama is caused somuch, it mostly being love/hormone’s fault. I can tell this by reading other fellow high schooler xangas. Hence forth I don’t believe in high school dating. Life goes on.

  • walkin out the door that very last time. i actually have several great memories, but that’s definitely my favorite!

  • so far, all of the great times. being squished on the bleachers at mass (Catholic school) and giggling through it all, friends, car rides, coffee shops.

  • Sadly, I don’t really have any really good memories from probablly the years I was 14-23. It’s pretty much all a blur. I’m sure I had some fun times, but mostly I was just a miserable teenager, was very shy and kept to myself.

  • All my high school memories revolve around the TV station and the drama club.   Nothing noteworthy really happened.

  • Graduation…I hated high school and the contents within.

  • still in high school.

  • What a sweet story. To tell you the truth, I attend highschool right now and by the looks of it, my whole impression of it so far is not all that magical.

  • There’s always drama in highschool. No girls ever seem to be content with what they have. That is of course until they find out their boyfriends are cheating on them. And then que in the catfights. Real glamourous.

  • last homecoming was gud…

  • I will care more about high school when I can not experience again.  So far, I am currently living my best moments in high school.

  • Hmm…still in it…and I haven’t got to go to Prom yet…buut so far…def. going to Grand Nationals for Bands of America competition in Indianapolis and staying in a hotel for 3 days and 2 nights w/my very best friends

  • That was a sweet story!  I think my fondest memory in high school was the year of 1976…I was a Junior and we had just moved to a small town, so my sister and I were popular because it was a close knit group of kids in the high school and every Friday night we would all pack in the car and go to the drive in movie…they showed the same movie all summer long too.  Earthquake!     haha  to this day I dont think I could tell you what the movie was about…other than an Earthquake. And my dad was the Police Chief and he would make a drive through to make sure we were there and not drinking.

  • High school?  Best memory?   The day after Graduation.

  • I dropped out of high school sophomore year. I never had a prom. I missed all of that. My greatest memory of high school was being so confused and scared, then countering the fear with anger and hate, and trying on yet another identity based on that mechanism. It was a step along the path to who I am today. So I dont regret having no prom. I dance now to make up for it…

  • Mine was prom also, we had prom, stayed out all night, then next day we all went to state park , play in the river all day, finnally got home very late, then on Monday in shop class I wasn’t doing anything so I took of my socks and shoes went out to the field and fell asleep.  Woke up to a teacher yelling at me to get to the office.  Student in the school saw me, and thought I was a dead body left in the school yard. lol I had to sit in the office and missed the assembly because I had put my shoes in a friends car and he took off somewhere. The only person who didn’t yell at me was the principal. lol- It’s still funny. lol yeah fun times

  • Leaving high school? For me that’s easy. Leaving it and never looking back. I have never gone back, never will as my life was changed by the Lord Jesus and I was not the same person.

I did go to two reunions which were a waste of time. Some people were still doing the same things that they did in high school and the so-called “nerds” were the people who I had most in common with. Funny how life is. Jesus changed my whole worldview.

PS-College was a much better place for me. I simply loved college.

  • this post made me swoon, i’m not sure why.
it made me write want to write about ‘my first boyfriend’ so i did =)

  • leaving high school forever.

  • finishing my book.  (wow! my life sux)

  • this shit rocks!

  • Reading through the posts I am quite shocked to see how few people mentioned their prom as their greatest memory. At the time I thought my proms would be the greatest nights of my life… and they were fun, but not even close to my most cherished memory. Interesting.

  • well… i AM in high school. and one of my favorite memories so far… may sound kinda strange… but… lunch. every day at lunch i sit with the most hilarious people that are absolutely awesome. all we do is crack up the entire time and watch milk come out each other’s noses from laughing.

  • The day outside the cafeteria when My Girl and I decided to have eachother

Risk is always worth the reward

  • So many high school memories… passing notes, early mornings praying for the campus with friends, sharing a locker with a million different people, interning, student teaching…

  • Hey i went through this high school crap, LoLz

  • my last two years in high school were EXCELLENT. many memories had especially during musicals

  • Funny thing…just started high school! xD

  • Oh my favorite high school memory was walking through the doors the first day of freshman year. It was great. I even remember how the school smelt.

    That was touching

  • I’ll let you know next year.  When I get there.

  • still trucken in it, second semesters are always better than first and each year gets better than the last so I figure by the time im a senior in college my school life will be just pure bliss.

  • high school was a pain in my ass. yeah, i was a varsity athlete. yeah, i was homecoming queen. yeah, i dated my high school sweetheart through college (and at one point was engaged). HIGH SCHOOL MADE ME DUMBER. I GOT MAD IN COLLEGE ABOUT ALL THE CRAP I HAD TO TEACH MYSELF B/C MY DEGENERATE HIGH SCHOOL WAS SUB-PAR. dang, i accidently hit the caps lock. too tired to fix it.

  • I’m living it.

  • I think my greastest highschool moment was when I was asked out by the guy I had a crush on since I was a freshman.  He asked me out near the end of our junior year.  We’re getting married in June.  :o )

  • The day I graduated. Because I was done with school for good

  • I think I was in 9th grade. I had to go with my friend to set up this band set outside. I was doing it as a favor to her for something she had done for me earlier that month. I was not looking forward to it. On the bus up there I noticed this really cute guy staring at me. So we started setting up the set and he came up and started talking to me. He kept me warm while we weren’t setting up and when we were setting up he would smile sweetly at me. When the night was over we finally got to back out to the buses and we sat together on the way home and snuggled as we were pulling back in to the school parking lot he kissed me like guy ever had. I never will forget that.

  •     My favorite high school memory was driving back from lunch with my friends on a hot summer day. We had the windows and the sunroof open. And we took lots of pictures that lunch.

    =)

  • Always a pleasure to read your posts!

Best high school memorys….All the FIRSTS…falling in “love” for the first time, driving for the first time or first car, first dates, proms, sports, a first real feeling of accomplishment and maturity, first job, homecoming games, and pep rallys.  High school was great.  There were friendships built there that will last a lifetime. I am big on firsts!

I guess if I had to single out an event it would have to be the summer before junior year.  Getting ready to go back to school.  Having two boys fight for my attention, having a great time with my girlfriends, and having that feeling that no one can touch you.

  • I liked marching band a lot at the time, though it seems like a totally weird subculture to me now that I’ve been out for 6 1/2 years.  You have a lot of friends on here!  Do you know them all?

  • 1.graduating- before I was in high school, I thought that high school was sooo hard…..after four years I could not believe that I was graduating from there with a good average.

  • i still have a load of drama ahead of me…I’m still in ninth grade

  • i’M ONLY iN MY FiRST YEAR OF HiGH SCHOOL, SO NOTHiNG YET. LOL!

  • wellll, I’m still in high school…but the best memory?  freshman year, lying out front in the grass after school with my best friend.

  • best memory was the last game of six man football

  • still in high school, goofing off w/ my friends before and at football games, skipping band and playing bs in the band closet, track meets, band trips….high school has been good to me overall….

  • dude. you are seriously annoying. please go die.

  • Meeting my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ & meeting the girl that became my wife and is still my wife for 21 years now.

  • none, it was all hellish

  • I didn’t go to my prom although I wish I had. The only boy that asked me out was a special needs kid. He had had several operations for brain tumors. I was very tall and he was short and funny looking. I wish I had put down my pride and said yes. We both could of gone and I bet we would have had fun. I don’t understand why I and so many other teens were then and still are now so afraid to be different, to go outside the lines…I didn’t go to prom…and within a few months the boy who asked me to go passed away. I wish I had said yes.

  • If you’ll wait four years, I’ll be sure to let you know.
