Confession Part 2
I spend about 2 hours a day on xanga. I followed a certain pattern for a long time. I would spend 5-10 minutes a day posting. Then I would spend two hours commenting. Then a while back I went to posting multiple times a day. My pattern shifted at that point. I then wrote about 3-4 post in the morning on word. I find I can write better in the morning. I get to work at about 7 a.m. I am in the office way before anyone else. I spend about 30 minutes writing 3-4 post.
I then normally get started on my work day. Then during the day I copy my post on xanga and submit them. I actually now spend an hour and a half commenting a day. I break it up into 3 times a day commenting for 30 minutes. I have times when I don’t have time to comment as much. I went 4 days without commenting a few weeks ago.
Sometimes people ask if I read all my comments. I read all my comments. I can read 150 comments in 5 minutes. It doesn’t take me much time to read through them.
I have noticed the tendency of some to spend a lot of time on xanga. They will come back to their site multiple times during the day. I am convinced that some will actually visit their own site 40-50 times a day and just check it.
Add up the time you spend on posting and the amount of time you spend checking your site and other sites.

about 20 minutes in the morning, its like my ‘day in the life’ I update if there’s any reason and check around my flies when I can … i imagine 2 hours total per day would be about right. sometimes more, sometimes less…
I’m one of those that comes online several times a day to check my comments. It usually takes me about an hour and a half to comment everyone on my subs list. I’d say altogether I spend 3 hours a day on xanga.

RYC: Yeah, pics are tricky… not just loading, but formating them on the page, etc… that is probably why I dont post as often as I should… it does take a lot of time when I have a post with tons of pics.
oh geez… my xanga is like my IM (and e-mail); i just constantly have them opened…
so its quite tough to estimate… (unless i am staffed on a project for work where i can’t have internet like my first project out of two so far) in that case it will only be morning and night…
I have a sidekick2. I’m at school now and am so bored that I go everywhere. I’m on constantly so it is almost impossibe to tally it all up.
Usually I update in the morning then check it every once in a while at work, maybe a couple of hours total but it is usually in like 10 minute increments.

I read and write slow, so I average about 6 hrs per day (mostly at night between 10 p.m. – 2 a.m.)
I am pretty pathetic..I’ll visit my xanga first thing when I get to work (after checkign work emails and my bank acct balance)..I’ll post and then read my subs..then maybe get back on six to seven times during my workday..
its always up in one of my browser tabs when im on the computer. i spend an average of 6 or 7 hours on the computer a day.
I am def one that goes on my site about 50 times a day just to check my comments, etc. All in all I am probaly on here a couple hours a day when it all is added up
LIke 6 hours….. When I’m really bored thats what i do. I look at layouts, view my options…check my friends’ sites and other such.
oh, though i guess its not that bad since i really only have like a handful of ppl i comment with daily-ish… so i dont spend that much time commenting, nor really even posting in a day… i think it’s like the mail thing for me… i just like mail so i always have mine on to see if i got comments… even though i only average getting like maybe three a day…

On a day when I have to work…probably 4 or 5 10 minute intervals in the morning and an hour or less in the evening…on a day I don’t have to work the same but maybe another hour in the afternoon.

I spend about 15-20 mins posting every night on my main xanga, 5-10 on the poetry xanga, and then I reply to comments as they come. I check my xanga usually every hour or so, but it only takes me 30 seconds. I also read every post that any of my subscribers makes, so that takes about 30 minutes a day I guess- totally ballparking that one.
Depends on the day. Right now, I’m on winter break from school, and bored out of my mind, so i check my xanga about 4 times a day. When I’m back in school though I’ll probably check it once a day.
Hmm, I don’t really know. Over the break (and continuing until the 18th when classes start) I’ve been on A LOT. I write sporadically throughout the day, but when school is in session it’s always afternoon, because that’s when my classes are over. I try to comment most people back which doesn’t take very long.

Actually, I don’t spend too much time on it per day, but I do have it open sometimes when I want to procrastinate (bad little me). I check my Xanga a good deal for comments, and I read everyone I am subbed to fairly regularly (although I read some subs more carefully than I do others because some seem to require more time to read and understand, which I don’t always have). I was thinking about getting into a routine such as the one you have for posting, on this Xanga and on another blog I have, but I don’t have your discipline. So I kind of only post here and there. I think the most writing I do is in the comments to other people’s postings. Sometimes someone will say something to make me have an immediate reaction, and if I feel up to it I log in and comment back.
My Xanga started as a way to relate to the teens in my youth ministry. So my time varied with how often they posted. I now spend about 2-3 hours a day, not counting simply checking if there are new updates or comments. But of course I recently resigned so came into some extra free time.
3-4 hours, total I guess. It’s the homepage for my browser, and if I notice an update or new comment when I open the browser, I usually take a moment to go check it out. The time I spend purposely on xanga depends on how busy I am with school and stuff.

Our internet filter has a timer, one-half hour a day absolutly no more If allowed unlimited time I would definletly be on for at least 2 hours a day

It’s really hard to say. It varies from day to day. Depends on how much I have to write about, how much other people I subscribe to have written, and if there’s much that I feel like commenting on.

I love to be able to actually write something that people comment on! You have a very engaging blog were you actually solicit feedback…perhaps that is the secret.
I go through periods of blogging and not blogging. I do find that I keep tabs on my friends and their lives better by reading what’s going on.
I have a (rl) bookshop so all my buying is online and the temptation to play with Xanga too much is always there, so I cut off comments and my SIR list. Now I look at Xanga when I’m waiting for things to load. I wouldn’t know how many hours and minutes that adds up to, depends on the state of my (appalling) isp that day.

well, I spend at least a 1/2 hour posting, probably at least a 1/2 hour commenting reading other peoples blogs and then I check regularly, at least once every half hour, often much more to see if anyone has posten or left comments on my xanga. I mix it in with other things though, so it’s probably not more than 2, max three hours total. I also spend some time re-reading past entries which accounts for the large number.
Wow.. I have no idea. I’ll check and see what’s going on every hour or so, I’ll read comments, and reply, and if I have something interesting to say, I’ll post an entry. I’ll spend anywhere between five to ten minutes writing them (I type really fast), then I’ll read my subscriptions. I think the most I spend on Xanga is probably around 45 minutes, but it’s hard to tell, because I get on and off a different intervals, and sometimes only for a few minutes.

Way too much time! I live alone and while I have many wonderful friends, they’ve got their own lives so I don’t always get to hang out with them. On average I would say that I have xanga up on my computer for atleast six hours. But that is because I leave my computer on and unless I am playing a game, I usually have the same sites up on my site so I don’t have to keep bringing them up when I get back on.

Depending on hos busy we are, I am usually on xanga for about 2 hours or more. I always go to my site first, but a lot of the time I don’t even read my comments until the next day, I just comment to others.

I used to be on it a ton, and check my comments like amillion times an hour. Recently tho I haven’t had much time to comment on anyones, and comments on mine have been far less with Christmas break and all. So I cut down on checking it. I haven’t been to hardcore updating recently either. Eh, oh well.
Usually half an hour, tops. I’ll check everything (xanga, facebook, myspace, email) in the morning before class or whatever if I have time, if not I’ll do it on a break before work or when I get home at night, it’s kinda a relaxer to do it at the end of the day and it’s like a wake up type thing when I do it in the morning.
But I’m also usually doing other things while checking (cleaning up, eating, that sorta thing). I guess I either multi-task too much or I just don’t have enough free time to sit and concentrate on one thing at a time.
That makes me realize how much I really need to simplify my life.
I have no clue. All I know is that I spend a lot of time here that I should be spending sleswhere.

Lately it’s a lot less than it used to be. Lately I spend about 5 minutes writing up a post that I’ve got logged in a journal as the thoughts hit me, and if I have a moment I check my subs. Lately I haven’t had the time to go back and comment so I guess all in all, about 30-45 minutes a day….not bad when you consider I was once one of those 5-6 hours people! It’s all about managing it, not letting it manage you!

Hmm, I spend hours on xanga itself, but I usually have several internet windows open, so even if I have my xanga on a page, I might not look at it for an hour, or I might look at if for a minute every 20 minutes.

I wonder what your point to this post is. Seems to me that time spent on xanga is useless information. Do you plan to compare times, and if so what for?

Hmmm….that’s a good question. Probably about 3 hours, but the last 1 or 2 hours is usually late after everyone is asleep. (Hubby gets up freakishly early, so everyone is asleep by 9 or 10 usually.)

I visit Xanga in small increments during the day or in the evening to either create a post on my own site or reply to comments left at my site, or check your site and other sites which I comment back and forth to. I rarely go to a new site. So maybe 30 min. to an hour a day, depending.

I know most days I check at least three or four times. I try not to post more than once a day though, because it cuts down on the response for the first post. So you read all your comments, but how many sites do you comment back on? I’ve never heard from you and I’m a faithful reader.

I probably spend at most an hour all day on xanga. I don’t get many comments and I don’t have many subscriptions.
My use of xanga is minor compared to some other sites I spend way too much time on. I’m convinced all this is not good for my health. It would be better to take long walks and post comments in my head.
oh my God i’m awful; probably about 1-2 hours which is pointless! last quarter of school was more sever, around the avenue of 3-4hours :X i should just destroy my accounts! but then i’ll have nothing to journalize about or comment with! so chea.

It depends on if there is anything interesting going on.
It usually takes me at least an hour to read all of the people that I read every day. If I have a lot to say to them, or a lot to post on my own xanga, it can be another 2 hours. Sometimes 3.
But it also depends on if I have homework, if there is a book I am into at the moment, or if I have chores to do.
Something like two hours. About thirty minutes in the morning, and about an hour during the afternoon. If I’m lucky, and my younger brother has not taken over the computer, I can spend a bit more time during the evening.

I spend about half an hour to an hour-and that is counting checking my site and my friend’s site a couple of times through the day. The hour estimate is for when I ramble on my own site.

I said to myself. “You know how you want everyone to comment on your blog?” You should be doing the same to others!” Soo thats what I’m doing now. I am on and off Xanga throughout the day, depending on how busy I am. But in total, I’d say probably about 30 mins – 1 hour a day…
I remember when I was once concerned about this place. The way I obsessed about actually being original, unique, humorous. I wrote a post at least every two days, and for a while it was good.
Then I built up a following and moved to MySpace. This place is dead to me now. Though my writing style stays the same, and I haven’t lost anything in the process of change. I just don’t write nearly as much as I used to. Perhaps, someday, I’ll write a post once a week.
Oh, and to answer your question…I spend one minute a week here. I guess I’m in the minority.
