  • 2008 Elections

Just a quick note.  I have added people as quickly as I could for the protected post.  It is 4 post about how to make featured content.  I realize most of my readers are not interested in it so that is fine.  Some of you who are asking to be added have already been added.  You should see it.  Just go down to the part marked Featured Content Part 1 and then read all the post.  You have to go to the next page in order to get to Featured Content Part 4.  I think it will be helpful for a lot of you that want to make it.  So if you want to be added just say so.  But be patient with me as I add you.

    Here we go:

I have been thinking about the 2008 elections.  After President Clinton was in office for 8 years, I thought the Republicans were passionate.  Al Gore actually got more votes so this may not be the case.

I know that the Republicans have not only been in the White House.  But now control Congress and actually have more Governors.  It looks like they may take control of the Supreme Court here too.  I say that as a joke.

I am not wondering whether it may swing back in the other direction.  Although I am a conservative Republican, I think the mood in this country is a readiness for change.  I am thinking the Democrats are going to gain a lot of seats in Congress in 2006.  I think that they may take back control of everything in 2008.

Do you think that the next two elections will swing back to Democrat control?

  • lol, i typed no then changed it to yes and still was first!  Ha, where is everybody?

  • no more bush!!

  • I really do, just because everyone is so tired of the conflict.

I still can’t see the featured content one though.

  • Did you neglect to add me?  I could not see all four posts.

  • The economy is doing phenomenal right now and if things continue improving in Iraq, the Republicans I think will be ok.  It all depends on Iraq though.

  • Politics are cyclic like this.  I don’t think the Dems will take it back but I do think we’ll see a shift back toward balance.

  • yes. that would be grand. im a teenager, and i cant really remember when clinton was in office…im just curious to see what the democrats do with the situation

  • Did you add me? I have no idea. Did i ask? Can i see it? COuld i ask any more questions?

  • Unfortunately, yes.

  • as a conservative, i hope not.

  • Only if the American people haven’t learned a thing.  The media hopes the Dems win.  So if the American people fall for the media propaganda (I think you have fallen for it Dan) then yeah it will go back to the Dems.  But I’m betting that the American people are way too sophisticated for the Dems and media at this point in time, so my money is on the Republicans to still hold a majority.

  • I certainly hope so. The republicans have totally f’d us up. Big time.

  • There have been a lot of scandals and problems in the Republican party, and I believe that yewj’s opinion sums up those of a lot of Americans. I think a shift is definitely possible, but a lot will depend on who actually shows up at the polls and who does nothing but complain about the way things are yet puts no action behind it.

  • Sadly yes…

RYP:  Wow!!!  You really did your homework!!!  Thanks for all the info…I always wondered how it worked….  I gave up on featured a long time ago…I just do it for the friends and my curiousity…

  • I hope we stay the course.

  • Yep and may I be added?

  • yes

  • yes…I wouldn’t be surprised.

  • I WANT TO BE ADDED…PLEASE

  • I think there is a great deal of disatisfaction with the government now days. (or certain elected government officials, in particular….) One would think that this disatisfaction would translate to an overall change in who we elect in the upcoming elections, but I’m not sure that this will happen.  There are so many factors involved that I cannot begin to make a prediction.  Whether the democrats are able to take advantage of the situation to their benefit remains to be seen.  If the party, as a whole, develops a better plan of action (ie: what they would do differently) then I think they have a chance.  Right now, the Democratic Party is too busy being critical without offering alternative ideas to the public.  As a Democrat I find this disheartening….

  • As a Republican myself, I think I agree with you. The American public is ready for a change. For the better or worse, is yet to be seen, but all parties have their flaws and scandals…

  • I definitely think the country will be going democrat next election. I have mixed feelings myself, but it certainly appears the populace is ready for a change.

Just FYI, I still can’t see the FC posts. You probably haven’t gotten to me yet, but I thought I’d mention.

  • Oh yes, and you added me, but I cannot see the posts…

Am I not well versed in the art of xanga?

  • most likely. at least for the first one

  • It had better, because a two party system is bad enough, and if a dominant party develops, there will be a lot of suckery.

  • I think it’s inevitable.

  • Go Al Gore!!!!

  • Lead_more:  I hope you are not implying that the media is biased to the left.  In the late 60′s and early 70′s, it was, indeed, what one could call a liberal media.  With entire networks devoted to the conservative point of view, I don’t think we can call the media “liberal” anymore.  Furthermore, I think most of the major networks have overcompensated to the point that they can truly be called right-leaning, if one takes a truly unbiased look at them.  The “liberal media” is dead. (except to certain far-right leaning talk show hosts and their devoted fans)

  • I hope we stay in control.

  • not the supreme court! but yeah i think it will swing back to demobcratic control—house and presidency

  • Nope!  I think the republicans have a choke hold on everything…..

    Candy

  • Not until the Dems stop lettting the far left of the party be in control.

  • I think the only way that will happen is if the democrats present the american public with qualified and interesting choices. So far, they have lacked in their ability to give us a better candidate than the republican incumbants, therefore the republicans have the opportunity to stay. I think it all have very little do with the republicans doing a good job, it’s about the democrats not being able to give the public a good enough alternatives.

  • hell ya.

    H

  • MR. DAN!! Great job on the FC posts. Very informative…and i hope it helps alot of people. I noticed today there are ALOT of Grownups on FC…and the rest actually have some substance. I just hope that they don’t change the computer’s program after we all finally get a grip on the way it’s working now!
I can tell you put alot of time into all that….you did an awesome job. Did you make sure that Mary and the rest of the xanga gods get to see it?

    Thanks…

  • Probably. But because the nation is so divided on so many things to begin with, I think it will swing right back the next time around.

  • Personally I hope so.  This administration has invaded so many of our freedoms and our privacy that I feel we are a true democracy anymore.   But, that is just my opinion.

  • I could see it happening, though I personally hope that’s not the case.  I’m a conservative Republican as well, and have Democratic friends, and I try and stay totally clear of political subjects.  I had one friend comment one day that she hoped someone assassinated Bush.  While I didn’t agree with things Clinton did or believed in, I certainly never wished him dead.  How did things get to be so hateful as they are today?

  • These things are so difficult, it is hard enough to determine the next election, much less the next two. There is so much uncertainty in these things. There are rumors of who will run, but I’m not sure anything is set in stone just yet. And even then, you really never know until it’s over. I really don’t know, and I don’t think anyone can. However, as someone stated above, these things are cyclical, or for another analogy, kind of like a teeter-totter or a scale. They will temporarily be weighted to one side or the other, but in the long run it mostly balances out. We’ll just have to wait and see.

I would like to invite everyone to read my latest post, especially Dan himself.

  • Eh, I’m apolitical. I don’t care, Republican or Democrat, Repuclicrat or Demolican. I leave all that to more intelligent, interested people.

  • We have good reason to believe that it will. It’s the natural pattern, known as the PPP (Political Party Pattern). It swings like a pendulum. Back to the left, then to the right, to the left…

Ok, I made up the PPP part, but I do think the democratic party will have much more emphasis on the 2008 elections.

  • ya, you can add me.  I would like to read about making featured content.  Thanks.

  • i donno i dont vote. i dont believe in it. it never comes out right. after the whole bush vs gore issue happened, i lost all faith..blah. there fore on election day last year i was on protesting with this guy at school

    GO HERE

his shirt says….VOTING OPIATE OF THE MASSES

  • from what i know about a democrat controlled government, there isn’t anything that the republican’s have done that the democrats haven’t.  as a conservative who isn’t knee dead in apple pie, i would prefer a move to the middle.  but since all the “middle ground” candidates turn out to be liberals in sheeps’ clothing, i really don’t have any faith in that happening like i want it to.  swings always happen on the national level, so a democratic government wouldn’t surprise me at all.  but in states like Texas, a swing could take decades.

  • Well I certainly hope it swings back into democrat control. But I guess a less conservative republican wouldn’t be so bad either.

    HEY! I didn’t get added yet =/

  • Dear Lord, please spare us all! Unfortunately, unless we as a nation “humble ourselves and pray” we will continue down our current morally bankrupt path. No offense to Democrates. I agree with some Democratic politics, I do not agree with their stand on moral issues. So, if we were talking about “politics” as defined as how to govern our nation, I might be a Democrate (still not sure) but in terms of their moral stand…….let’s just say they never take a stand for morals.

  • I bet it will, it always seems to go back and forth…

  • I think the democrats will take session even though I dont want them to.

  • i certainly hope so.

  • Can I be added?

  • Can you add me? I’m not sure if I’m added…

And… I’m not really into politics so I have no say in this.

  • I have no idea.  I am not good with politics.

  • I don’t care about political party, I support the guy/gal with the platform that is the most similar to my values and ideals. I just hope we can get some candidates that I’m not ashamed to vote for.

  • I hope not.   The DNC hasn’t presented us with a truly good candidate since Mondale or Dukakis.    That whole fiasco in ’92, not allowing one of the speakers to talk, set a poor precident for the DNC.  It clearly showed that the delegates were not there to do the party’s work.

The question is, who from the DNC is qualified to run?    Kerry certainly wasn’t.   He got more anti-Bush votes than he did pro-Kerry votes.  The DNC needs to offer us somebody we want to vote for, not just an alternative to the GOP’s candidate.

Please add me to the list.

  • I’m not so sure…people think the Republicans are doing a poor job, but they’re also tired of the Democrats’ fingerpointing and namecalling.

  • i think the american people will probablly go democrat next election.  Its a shame, because i think they will probablly do so for the wrong reasons.  I’ll vote for whomever i end up agreeing with the most, which will probablly be Republican.  Most likely, i’ll pissing in the wind

  • I hope so.  I was Republican, but have changed to where I don’t relate to either party anymore.  But, I think for balance sake, we need to work on Democrat issues.  Unfortunately I think Bush has royally screwed up and I’m surprised at how many conservative Republicans agree with this.  I think he’s a neat guy…just not as our president.

  • Yes.

  • Hmm, I thought I was added, but I still don’t see the posts…

  • Well, I hope not but agree that it will likely happen.  It all comes and goes in cycles and it’s about to cycle out of Republican control.  Boo.

  • Yes, it’s the nature of the beast!

  • RYC: yes, i did drop out. then i created my xanga. then i went back, lol. i am an undergrad there currently, but wasn’t about to change my xanga over something so ‘technical’ :p

    BTW: ADD ME!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ~ck

  • I dont think so, and i hope not. Bush did a better job then people give him credit for. The same boneheads that think the kyoto treaty is a good thing want bush out of office. Thats all i need to like bush

  • sorry i cant even read i need a prayer-for myself! PLEASE PRAY FOR ME ANYONE-FOR STRENGTH AND TO FIND MYSELF. PRAY FOR ME TO BEFORE I LSOE IT!

    thanks,

    -shawna

p.s. i read the post anyway, YES!!!

  • oh and p.s.s. can you add me too?

  • I don’t care as long as Dubya is outta there…

  • Aren’t you supposed to be one of the “smart” people on xanga?!  don’t you know that either “side” of the political “arena” both represent the same corporate interests.  it’s common knowledge that no matter which party you choose, you’re gonna get fucked either way.  all of this political shit is a fallacy.  no president represents the people, and no president ever will.  cept Kennedy and Garfield, and look what happened to them.

  • Most definitely.  I don’t declare myself as either party, but I definitely lean to the left.  Republican leaders have been shooting themselves in the foot for quite some time…and I think people are sick of it.  2006-8 will be years of change.

  • Have a Great weekend : )

  • Perhaps. Who knows? I guess, we’ll see.

  • Depends on how much Republicans mess up. This Judge Alito confirmation process had given the Democrats a chance to show themselves as raving loons in the face of a highly qualified candidate. With the threat of terrorism still in the background, the republicans are the party that shows true fortitude on security. With all the accusations against bush with the war coming from democrats, republicans simply need to stand up and the democrats will look like too dove like to hold any power with any threat in the back ground. But I could be wrong. Based on my thoughts here Bush should have done better last election, but he really didn’t run that great of a campaign.

One of two things could swing the momentum back to the democrats. One: the republicans coming out as corrupt as the democrats portray them. Two the democrats finding a core message and building a base that it resonates with. (This will not happen if they hold to moonbat accusations)

  • I sure hope so.  I am not a big fan of democrats either.  It beats being kicked back into the middle ages.

  • depends on who runs for president, and supreme court justices are chosen by the president i think. so the supreme court wont change much if it does at all. congress always flip flops.

  • My dad certainly hopes so.  He already has his bumper stickers.

  • i hope so!!

  • Yes definitely…you are right… this country is ready for a change. And there is going to be a whole new generation of voters which I think will also have a huge effect.

  • id like to be added to protected…

  • as far as elections, i hope it doesnt go back to democratic, but im guessng it will… the current republican admin isnt too popular… im not too fond of a lot of stuff now either…. just so long as hilary doesnt win… id vote for condoleeza (sp?) rice in a minute though.

  • Who cares!

    I’m voting for Sharkey!

  • I CERTAINLY HOPE SO…SOMEBODY HAS TO CLEAN UP THE MESS.

  • Hopefully it will.  if you look at the past it has been rather hard for a democrat to win the presidency, or at least since LBJ passed the civil rights act.  He gave the GOP the south.  Since then a Democrat has only won when there is a split in the GOP over a nominee.  I think it likely though that a democrat will win because of all the shit the president has fed us over the past couple of years.  I think the American people will be tired of republicans in general.

  • Yes I do, but then again I thought that was going to happen with the 2004 elections after seeing what had happened the previous 4 years.

  • I don’t really know what featured content is….but I want to fit in so can you include me?? Maybe I can learn something new….

  • I think it will come down to the issues that the people who are running will stand for.  The media won’t admit it, but the MORAL issues came to the front of the election, & I think if they do again, whoever is standing on God’s side will win, whether they be Rep. or Dem.  I know that in the area that I live in, the moral issues will be huge.  If the candidates are smart, they will stand on moral beliefs and let the MORALS lead their war cry.

  • Being in the military I am not at liberty to detail too much of my opinion.  Although I will say that once people have too much of something, they get bored of it and decide it is time for change.

  • i don’t really know much about politics, but i should be learning more soon since i will be voting for the first time in the 2008 elections!  wow… weird.

  • god, i hope not!!!!!

  • yes. i think the majority of the country is sorely disapointed about the direction we’re going in so there will be a push for new elected officials.

  • I just wanted to say that I appreciate your thoughts here on xanga.
Finding your site truly refreshing, I am always encouraged by your thought processes and truly see what you do here as a ministry. So from a fellow sister in Christ, Thank you!

  • Probably…..   RYC: New Protected Up…

  • With the Republican party split into several different factions, I think it will be hard for the Republicans to pull it all off again unless they solve thier current predicament. Personnaly, I tend to lean more to the liberal side of the spectrum so I may be slightly biased..I think 2008 will see a shift towards liberals and democrats..however..I do think think that this shift will benifit the more liberal Republicans the most. I think with the discontent with the war in Iraq and the money scandals with big business, that are coming into play, the current Republicans in office will be phased out. The American people need someone to represent them and not a person who will ascend to thier own agendas for business and oil as seems to be the current trend in office. I do feel that as the canadates for key positions are named, we will indeed have a better picture of how this shift will truely affect our current position.
Oh, and if you have time..I would like to be added to your list..Thank you very much!!
    As always…love the site!!
    Whit

  • I hope so… Bush sucks…

  • It could go either way, it all depends on who’s running on the republican and democratic side.

  • I believe so. Happy Weekend, Dan! =D

  • Was I taken off your protected list?

Can I be added again please.

    Amanda

  • Ps. I sure hope they do but I want to see who is running first.

  • I dearly hope not, but realistically I have to say I think it will. All of Bush’s bad publicity and the American dislike of conflict, even when it is needed, will probably force someone like *cringes* Hilary Clinton into office. If this turns out to be true, God help us all…

    -Jared

  • If Mcaine (sp) is running again I will vote for him. I really liked him.

  • Unfortunately, as I also am a pretty steadfast Republican, I think that those currently in power have handled things poorly, and I’m afraid we’ll lose a lot of ground.  Moving back to Democratic control is not going to be the change I want to see – I wish the change could come from within the party.

  • I still can’t see the protected posts.

  • Oh sorry.

    I’m still on it.

    Thank you,

    Amanda

  • If the democrats keep being pesmistic and focusing only on the problem and not suggesting a solution (sorry for the generalization) then, no, I don’t think we’ll swing back that way. I think that the personality and platforms of the candidates will determine which direction we head a lot more than some inate desire for balance. But we’ll see.

  • I hope.  I hope.  I hope.  Go read Al Franken’s new book.  It changed the mind of a very conservative Presbyterian minister I know.

  • It’s the Pendulum.  I think with the discontent at a high simmer.. things will change.  I hope they change..

  • I sure hope not.

  • yess
unless republicans get a really really good candidate

  • Hey, I’m having a contest. You should join in…

  • I certainly hope the rest of the US is ready for a change. I have been for a loong time.

  • i want to nominate chuck norris for president.

  • i’m very conservative republican. but, it does look like things could swing towards the democratic side soon.

would it be possible for me to be added?

  • I’m just 16.. I live in a very sheltered life.. I have no clue about politics

I just read the post about your featured content.  It’s pretty tempting to ask for being on the protected list, but I’m going to decline because I don’t want to use xanga just to become a “featured content” kind of thing.  I just want to entertain my peers.  With your knowledge about featured content.. my posts might become something different

However, I was wondering if you have anything else as deep or helpful as your foodforthought posts in the protected area.  If you do… could you add me on?  I will just skip your post about the “featured content tips and tricks”
    -Ko

  • Did you add me?  Cuz I don’t see the FC posts at all… I’m really curious to know what you wrote, so pls?

And I don’t know if the Dems will win in 08, the US seems very deeply divided right now and it looks like either party could win by a small margin… anything could happen in the next two years. I hope there will be a Democratic victory though.

  • P.S. Can you add me?

  • I would hope so.  Though the country is ready for change, I sincerely think the people have taken a more conservative turn, and that’s not good at all.

  • i think we’ll be going democrat in the next election…and i get to vote! yay!

and just as a note, i haven’t been added…no rush, just making sure i didn’t get skipped

    <3

  • Hopefully. Also I’d like to be added.I already told you this but I wanted to make sure because I think it would be quite fun being on featured.Quick question though. Why are you putting those posts on protected, anywho?I understand why you put you picture posts that way, but these Featured Content ones don’t click with me on why they should be on protected.

    Just wondering.

  • More than likely, yes.
I hope not, though. I am strongly against gay marriage and abortion.

    Nicholas

  • I certainly hope so!

  • I only see two featured content posts. Maybe you haven’t added me. I think the dems are making such idiots of themselves right now that power will stay republican for a while. Not for long though, too many people want to cause conflict in our nation. We’ll never have a true balance.

  • I would like to read that post you did on FC. I forgot to tell you.

  • Humm, I don’t know. I’m bad at predicting those things. Thanks for adding me!

  • It might … i would like to see a girl president. && a african american .. who knows? we just dont need a split nation becuz of democrat & republican.

that comment did really come out how i wanted anyways .. take care

  • Yes, but I think that the Republicans could still win in 2008 if the Dems nominate Hillary and Republicans nominate someone like Huckabee. I also think the time of the Libertarian Party is coming.

  • I hope it doesn’t change.

    Becky

  • I am hopeful that it does but I cannot say for sure.

  • I get the feeling that a senator named Barrack Obama in Illonois will be elected president. He’s a “conservative liberal” in the “purple” party.

I think that people are starting to realize that partisan politics gets you nowhere

  • No. While popular generally, many have realized that there is little actual plan and continuity in the Democratic message. Republicans however have not exactly done all they could to solidify their popularity.

  • Yes, but only because the American public have NO idea what they want.

    (Me excluded)

    ~Caroline~

  • please add to protected post. thanks!

  • Oh and Dan, may I be added to your list?

    :D

    ~Caroline~

  • I don’t know, I don’t care.
    They both suck.
    Set up an Independent Party.

  • only president…

  • Sad but true…it is bound to happen

  • Well, not next two… but definitely the next ONE.

  • wow u get a lot of comments, anywyas wise words you remiend me of my civics teacher he is a great man.

  • I hat eBush and am tired of both parties’ shit, but I think we’ll have one more Republican before we get back over the fence.

  • As long as we’re rid of Bush I’ll be happy.

All joking asider, I think it is important to have balance in the government.  It’s dangerous when the presidency AND congressional majority are of the same party, b/c they can take off and run with their agendas.  It’s funny how the republicans used to be so against big government or lots of govt spending, but now that they’re in power they’re all for it.  Just goes to show that as long as you’re head honcho you’re fine with spending gobs of money and making all sorts of programs, as long as they align with your intentions.

  • I think that the country will vote democrat next election. Judi

  • As much as I hate to admit it, yes, I do believe so.

  • I certainly hope a party which wants to take care of all the people gets into office–not just one geared to taking care of its rich fuck cronies.

It would be very nice if there was a viable third party which would not have the follies of either of the other two.

As usual, Lead_Mare, you are a tool.

  • I get the feeling that a senator named Barrack Obama in Illonois will be elected president. He’s a “conservative liberal” in the “purple” party.

If I could vote, I would vote for him.

Maybe I’ll be able to help RE-elect him after the first term is served.

  • Haha, yes. Republicans.

  • No.  I don’t see any signs that this is getting ready to happen.  Of course, no one can predict the future but the people have voted for who they want and we should listen to the people.

    Shari

  • for curiosity’s sake, add me.

i’m democratic, so ofcourse i hope to see some democratic power in the next election.

I think a lot of the nation’s youth will really pull through in the election, making it very close or putting the democrats in the lead. It does, however, very much depend on the canidate and how they stand on my key issues.

  • Oh, most definitelye.

  • Not if I have anything to say about it; Senator McCain is going to kick some ass in this coming election.

  • Yeah. Everyone seems to be antsy lately, and a change is bound to come sooner or later. The elections would be the most efficient time.

  • Yep, I bet they will

  • as much as people want change, they fear it too.  time shall tell

  • If you knew more about the Supreme Court, and were not a “conservative Republican”, you’d know that it’s absolutely no joke.  The true disintegration of the United States began with the twin spawns of Satan, President Ronald Reagan and Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist.  It’s been going downhill ever since.  Decisions made by the Supreme Court impact our nation for 50-100 years.

  • quite possibly. the war in iraq is not widely supposrted.

  • No. I think 2006 will swing towards the democrats, but I think 2008 will swing back republican…especially if Clinton is their candidate.

  • i don’t know, but i’m pretty content with bush, so it could stay republican.

please, please, america, no more clintons.

    -alex

  • hell yeah!

  • I don’t know, but I sure hope so. What I’d really like to see is a third party that actually cares about people. I mean, people have fought over party lines so much, and there is so much corruption, I think it’s a bit hopeless to think that you’re safe with either party, no matter how much their supposed beliefs match yours.
I would love for their to be a smart, third-party (and hopefully moderately liberal), and sincere presidential candidate in 2008. I’m not sure how it is that back when this country was founded, we had so many excellent leaders, but now the country is thousands times the population it was, and we only seem to be able to get corrupt dunderheads to run for office.
There are so few good ones, and there are probably a lot of people who would make good presidents who don’t have the money to fund a campaign.
    It’s saddening.

  • Probably….However I too am a Conservative Republican.  My main concern is the war and abortion…I guess that’s how I will vote again.

  • If they do, I hear that Australia is a nice place to live.

  • No. I think we’re just doomed to have the same used car salesmen representing the people’s interests when in reality all they want to do is line their own pockets. Politics is the best scam going.

  • Quite possible it will.

Plase add me to your list. Thanks.

  • I think the democrats will return in 2008.  Personally I hope that an independent party will give us a good candidate.  The left and right have become so much like each other I cant tell them apart.

  • Thanks for the protected post, it answered a lot of questions.

  • Yes, I think America is ready for someone else.

  • hello. i think the republicans should still stay in the white house because just because bush was republican, i dont think the next republican president will be pro-war. but this is just a guess of course. maybe you should run for president. you’ve got alot of support and you see what is going on in this world. i would vote for you. -colin

  • counting down the days….

  • i have no idea.

  • Eh I don’t think they will take congress and senate over in 2006, and I think its too early to predict 2008.  If Hillary Clinton runs in 2008 I don’t think the Democrats will win the presidency.  I guess we will wait and see

  • As a registered democrat, who usually votes republican, I figure either way I win.  I want John Edwards…..

  • bush keeps losing support, so i think things are going to swing back into democratic control.

  • i hope not… but i dont really know

  • as a true republican i hope and pray it will not swing back to democratic…there has been a dumbing-down of the school-system in america, and people are just not as smart as they used to be, because of this there are more and more poor people, that’s giving the democratic party more and more people every day, this is concerning me…once theres a frigin democrat in office they’ll raise taxes like crazy, and i’ll have to pay more and more!  Do they not get it??? when Ronald Reagan was in office, he lowered taxes a considerable ammount, that year, the federal-revaneue(sp?) nearly doubled…why? because people had money in their pocket, and they went off to spend it, and the sales tax revaneue sky-rocketed…but alas, democrats had to raise taxes…  I’m a yound teenager (14 to be exact) and i’m active in the stock market and have been since 3rd grade…last year I (not my parents, but me,myself, and I) paid in excess of $500 total in taxes… I shiver when I think of what that will be once i’m 20…50 will be  a nightmare!

But then there is a part of me that WANTS it to go back to the democrats…just to see what havock they’ll reak once they realize *oh crap…this isn’t as easy as we thaught it would be…* and screw everything up…

    ok ok i got a story for u real quick…here ya go…

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be a very liberal
Democrat, and was very much in favor of the redistribution of wealth.
She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had participated in and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his.

One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and the addition of more government welfare programs. The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing in school. Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn’t even have time for a boyfriend, and didn’t really have many college friends because she spent all her time studying.

Her father listened and then asked, “How is your friend Audrey doing?”

She replied, “Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy
classes, she never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so
popular on campus, college for her is a blast. She’s always invited to all the parties, and many times she doesn’t even show up for classes
    because she’s too hung over.”

Her wise father asked his daughter, “Why don’t you go the Dean’s office and ask him to deduct 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who only  has a 2.0. that way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA.

The daughter, visibly shocked by her father’s suggestion, angrily fired back, “That wouldn’t be fair!” I have worked really hard for my grades! I’ve invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played, while I worked my tail off!”

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, “Welcome to the Republican Party.”

I smile everytime i read that, because it’s true.

well that’s what i gotta say about that

  • Hey.

    I hope not.

My father served in Iraq and things are getting better, the media just does not portray it that way. A lot of the time people don’t like President Bush because he is standing up for what he believes. Last time I checked, that’s not againist the law. His approval rating is coming back up and I they might still have control in 2008.

    Sincerly,

    Kendra B. Ganser

  • ahhh, i hope so!!!

  • Perhaps, but would that really be good? Democrats can lie and cheat too, as we all know. Right nowt he problem isnt a repubplican problem, or a muslim problem or a christian problem, or a red or blue problem, is an absolute corruption, deception and moral bankruptcy problem. The Bush admin is MORE corrupt than the Nixon admin, we have how many American boys dead now? How many Iraqi boys dead? How much death, destruction, shattered lives, pain, hate, anger, resentment all over because of this administration? This will be reflected as a truly dark, but hopefully VERY short chapter in American history, but the reverberations of this government’s actions will be felt for at least the next 60 years, as we have bred the next generation of people who will hate and detest America for most if not ALL of their lives. See your parent, brother, friend, countryman killed by an American GI. See your brother, friend, countryman, brother in arms killed by an Iraqi. As I said, hate and death, and inhuman behavior by BOTH sides, its very sad.
