  • Xanga Retirement

    My time on xanga has come to a close.  I have enjoyed the time I have spent on here but I realize it is time to go.  I would like to thank all the people that have stopped by and commented.  I would like to thank my special friends who have IMed me.  I would like to thank xanga for this wonderful idea they have come up with in order for people to network with others.


    I have been really super busy at work for the last few months.  I need to cut some things out and this had to be one of them.  I am grateful for all of the encouragement I have received.  I started xanga at the worse time in my life.  I was going through a time that I thought I would never survive.  I started my xanga to help people but the reality is that most of the people helped me far more than I could help them.


    I would just like to say thank you to everyone.

Thank you, through your site and comments I’ve met some truly wonderful people and I am grateful to have found your site and other people’s through yours as well.   • Well Dan, it’s been interesting subscribing to you for one week. I was kind of worried with the Coke/Pepsi, Paper/Plastic entries not to mention entries at a rate of 2-3 per day. It’s like you were flailing about in your Xanga death throes. No one could have kept that up for long. Why heck, I spew out genuinely lousy entries about every five days and always feel drained and lacking for material when it’s said and done. What you did was super-human. You’re like the Bill Gates of eProps. How are you going to spend all of those?
    I hope that you’ll come back to us some day. You’re a huge celebrity here, the biggest actually. You’re like a rock star…only without the chicks, drugs, booze, and trail of smashed hotel rooms. It would be nice to see you in print, TV or radio. You’ve definitely got the mass appeal thing going on. Don’t forget to put Xanga on your resume.

  • I have a theory. You’re not really leaving, this is just a huge social experiment and we are your guinea pigs. Besides, if you were really going to shut down, you wouldn’t have changed the look from blue to brown (I like the new look), and you’d likely be gone already. I’m either onto you, or it’s the conspiracy/paranoia voices speaking out.

  • I remember awhile back you had a post about people commiting “xanga suicide” and you wanted to know what people thought about that. I was just thinking of it again the other day and now I’ve come across this that you’re leaving and I think it’s interesting given what I was thinking the other day. What I was thinking was I really didn’t see the need for people to commit “xanga suicide” because in the end it’s just you and the computer sitting there squared off and coming to terms with what you need to blog for in the first place. It’s certainly nice to get comments and all, but I’ve noticed that a lot of people (and certainly myself, even) use xanga as this sort of another form of communication like the phone, or visiting in a coffee shop…never anything really, really deep. For some of xangan’s it does get really, really deep and they are putting themselves really out there…but odds are they also don’t tell anyone they actually know about it. I don’t know, I can’t speak for people, maybe they do…my point is, is it really necessary to kill one’s self off. Can’t one just shut the computer off for awhile? A day. A week. A month. A year…. when they feel like revisting the person they were on xanga (or any other blog) they can. Maybe one day five and half months from now some thought is just itching to be written down. If no one looks at it…so what…it was written down for the writer’s benefit, strictly anyway. Isn’t that what a “journal” is? So I guess these things were never really meant to be a journal in the true sense of the word. I am fully aware that there is a real life that we all need to take care of first, no matter what. I’m not good at closing doors though…

    I cannot believe that it is finally the end.  Even though I wish you would not, I do understand why you have to go, all things must have an end at some point.  It was not that long ago that I first started reading your entries.  I will sincerely miss reading them – even if I was late on it and had to read 5 or 6 in one setting just to catch up.    They were always so good.  Thank you for the entries and the comments that you have left me.  You will be missed; but I wish you all the best of luck in whatever may come your way.

    BALTIMORE – A Baltimore judge struck down a 33-year-old state law against gay marriage Friday, declaring it violates the Maryland Constitution’s guarantee of equal rights.

    Circuit Judge M. Brooke Murdock immediately stayed her order to allow the state to file an appeal with Maryland’s highest court, the Court of Appeals. The attorney’s general office did so later in the day.

    Murdock ruled in favor of 19 gay men and women, rejecting a state argument that the traditional family is ideal for children.

    “Although tradition and societal values are important, they cannot be given so much weight that they alone will justify a discriminatory” law, she wrote.

    Massachusetts is the only state to allow gay marriage.

    “This is such an exciting moment,” said Lisa Polyak, a plaintiff with partner Gita Deane. “Our participation in this lawsuit has always been about family protections for our children. Tonight, we will rest a little easier knowing that those protections are within reach.”

    Republican Gov. Robert Ehrlich said he was disappointed by the ruling and that his staff is weighing options, including seeking a constitutional amendment to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman, which is the definition under state law.

    The ruling came in a lawsuit filed in 2004 by the American Civil Liberties Union. It named court clerks in Baltimore and four counties as defendants and challenged the 1973 state law defining marriage.

    Massachusetts started allowing gay and lesbian couples to marry in May 2004. Since then, more than a dozen states have reacted by approving constitutional bans on same-sex marriage. Vermont and Connecticut provide for civil unions for gays.

    Along with the argument for preserving the traditional family unit, lawyers for the state of Maryland had said the issue was a question for the Legislature rather than the courts.

    The judge said she was “unable to find that preventing same-sex marriage rationally relates to Maryland’s interest in promoting the best interests of children.”

    Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller, a Democrat, said he believes the ruling will be overturned.

    “In my opinion, the plaintiffs forum-shopped,” Miller said. “I don’t think the same opinion would have been rendered in 90 percent of the other circuits in the state of Maryland.”

    Douglas Stiegler, who heads two groups opposed to same-sex marriage, the Family Protection Lobby and the Association of Maryland Families, said he believes the matter was outside the judge’s jurisdiction and needs to be addressed by the Legislature. He supports a proposed constitutional amendment in the House of Delegates to define marriage as between man and woman.

    “We’re upset that she made this decision, but at the same time it just points out why the bill is needed,” he said.

    the girl was so scared she locked alll her doors and windows. she made sure her room was secured. she was so scared if it was a joke or for real. she didnt know when he was going to come. the girl was frighten so she decided to sleep with her little sister. the girl dozed off quikly. then she heards a knock on the window. the girl slowly walked to the window. it started knocking louder. the girl looked through the windows and saw nothing. just some of the tree branches. the girl went back to bed with her sister. the bed was wet and a pretty smells horrid. maybe her sister wet the bed… the girl checked and found blood everywhere. the girl panick. she didnt know what to do. she ran and hid in the closet incase the guy was their for her. while looking through the cracks of the closet the girl saw a shadow. it was dark so she couldnt figure out who it was. she started to get more frighten. the man crept closer to the closet. the girl closed her eyes as if it was a dream. then suddenly he open the closet door and pulled her out. her parents found her dead. she was skinned all the way and was hunged in her sisters closet.

    PART 2…

    2 years after the the sisters deaths, the her parents got pregnant with a baby boy the girls room became a guest bedroom and the little sisters room where the murder took place became the babys room. the baby grew up to be a secessful kid. one night he was on the computer and got a instant messege.

    i love you. i worship you. i want to be you for halloween.. but your post on HOW TO MAKE FEATURED CONTENT cannot possiby be accurate. i check FC everyday at the times you suggest and it’s never updated. maybe the xanga people have just been lazy over the past week or so, i dont know.. but it never seems to work for me.. or anyone else who reads your site for that matter. it’s still all emos and wutuwaitn4′s… (BTW i love him)

    Yeah, I’m not really sure what the deal with Featured is. It just seems like it’s not being updated on a consistent basis.

    I’ve become addicted to checking it though.. There are a several good sites I’ve found on the list, especially under the premium section. I’ve made a few new friends that way :)

    And no, I don’t think I have any chance of making featured. I have been getting a lot of eprops, but it’s usually over the course of a day or two or three. And that’s because I like to read people’s sites and comment and such. Thanks for offering to help me out though.. You are too sweet!!

    Hope all is well with you. Hey, since you are now ‘retired’ have you moved to Florida?! hehe..
