State of the Union
On January 31, the President will give his annual State of the Union Address. This address is given every year by the President of the United States to a joint session of Congress. I think you all know what that means. For an over an hour on Tuesday evening your favorite program is going to be interrupted.
The President is going to lay out his agenda for the coming year. The whole idea is for the President to tell exactly where our nation stands. It is an opportunity for President George W. Bush to tell the nation what condition he thinks our country is in.
What do you think is the current state of the union?

wee!
Second!
Current state of the Union is to wage war on terror
I’d say we’re in trouble but we’re too busy arguing about things that don’t matter to focus on what does matter.
I’m not really sure. College has consumed my life. I get my news occasionally from movies including but not limited to Zoolander, forrest gump, Tommy Boy, and Narnia. Other days if i’m lucky, i can catch the evening news on cartoon network in the form of family guy, futurama, and aqua teen hunger force. I’m sure bush and the country are just fine. if it wasnt, the media wouldnt try so hard to bring him down. stupid liberals in the media.
Not looking good…
oh man. no clue.

Pretty good overall. Rejected the kyoto treaty? check. Made democracys of two evil little countrys? Check. The economys pretty good too. Now if republicans can pick up enough seats in the mid-term elections we just might be able to get all the liberals to move to canada… I can dream can’t I?
^ thinlizzy is so smart.
If eff were president, here would be some of my policies.
- We’re raising taxes on that top 1% of rich people. We’ve got a huge deficit and more debt than we know what to do with.
- I’d ask Americans to make some sort of personal sacrifce for the war in Iraq. I’m not sure what that is, but supporting a war means more than putting a silly yellow ribbon magnet on the back of your SUV. Which brings me to…
- We need a much better energy policy. It’s no longer just envrionmental, it’s political. Force auto makers to increase mpg.
- We need to address Social Security. I’d raise the retirement age.
- I have no clue what to do about Iraq. Now that Iran and N. Korea are flexing more muscle, Iraq seems like it was the wrong war at the wrong time. But we’re there. Really, that’s a big mess. I dont think anyone knows what to do there.
i think that everything is pretty bad but we’re trying the best we can to get ourselves out of the mess we’ve put ourselves in. but i’m not an expert and this is just what i observe.
the union needs to quit focusing in things…ummm oil.. .that doesnt belong to it in Iraq and Alfganistan.
Well put — the state of the union is FUCKED. Our president is an incompent cunt, the vice president is secretly Satan playing with himself in front of a bunch of monitors telling him how he’s raping oil out of a bunch of dune coon territories, and really, everyone else on that grand old DC place is about as capable of handling things as I am of jerking off with sandpaper.
Which is to say they could do it, and do it right, but it’d probably hurt so they’ll just jerk off like normal.
Yes. I’m a bastard on Sundays.
The government is spying on us, trying to make all DL look alike, economy sucks, our pensions are being raided – what do you think. As a nation we are beginning to take the big swirly. When the government say they have the right to listen to our phones (and probably read our blogs) then we are no longer free.
Ecclesiastes 1:9 (New International Version)
9 What has been will be again,
what has been done will be done again;
there is nothing new under the sun.
This is pretty much what I think about it all.
hmmmm….educational grants have been cut…gas prices are higher than ever…There doesn’t seem to be an end in sight to the war in Iraq (one which I support whole heartedly, but come on…we have to have some sort of victory where we can say ok…Time to pull the troops out and send in the backhoes to help rebuild.). Clinton may have had questionable moral values, he may have gutted the military (which really doesn’t help our current situation), But I don’t remember ever paying over 2.50 in gas. Just so you know…I was a Bush supporter in both of the last elections.
Interesting question … one that I hope I never have to answer in any of the days soon to come. I only hope that God can pull us all together for President Bush; that man really needsour prayers right now.
I’d say that America ain’t doing so good. We’ve gone too far away from the moral Christian principles that America was founded on.
God bless,
Shohna
If its anything like the others it will be full of sugar coated promises and possibilities. It doesnt look good BUT..I am truly looking foward to the bushisms..
like:
“I think we are welcomed. But it was not a peaceful welcome.”
or
“I think it’s very important for the American President to mean what he says. That’s why I understand that the enemy could misread what I say. That’s why I try to be as clearly I can.”
Even if everything else was ok, I don’t understand how we can continue to ignore the deficit.
We are FUCKED.
we want democracy in the middle east
The state of the Union is that we as a people are selfish, overly-accepting, fat pigs and we need to return to the morals and ideals the nationw was founded on. Of course, that would mean people would have to have some moral obligation, so that’ll never happen.
-Jared
i strongly believe that people are too quick to jump on the “i hate Bush” bandwagon. i dont think he’s the best president but i really dont think he’s the worst. i think he is one man trying to hold a country together in a time of war, as well as keep respect of his “people” if you will.
Politically sickening; politicians believe their own propaganda, and the higher you go, the worse it is.
Morally depraved and bankrupt.
Sowing seeds of self-destruction
I honestly have no idea. I’m excited to see what he has to say though.
–Kaitlyn
The nation is in a bad place right now. I can’t believe how much we as a nation hate each other right now.
IRYQ: Sure, you can post a link. I can use all the prayers I can get.
And I don’t know how I feel about the state of the union, but at least I’ll get to watch the ‘address’ in the hospital (we’re without cable here).
The current state of the union sux.
Candy XO
who knows.
It is wiser, they say, to keep your mouth shut at the risk of seeming a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt.
I’m not much up on politics, to be honest. It’s my belief that as long as there is something in the world to be done, people will do it. People have their jobs doing things, and I am more than happy to let them do them.
Yes, I’m saying that I’m going to leave running the country to the people who run it. Yes, I’m saying I have little to no interest in politics. Yes, I’m saying that I have little regard for the state of the country around me.
I have my own life to worry about, and I trouble no one else with it. So I’ll leave theirs to them, because what can one man do in the face of overbearing odds? I used to be a bleeding heart liberal, until I realized the difference between living toward an unreachable idealist dream and living in the real world with a certain disregard for the world around me.
What is the state of the union? I don’t really know. Do I have thoughts on the matter? Believe it or not, no. I’m too far behind to really do anything other than talk about how much I think the president is an idiot, but beyond that, I’m short on proof, information, or truth to back up any arguments, so I avoid the political arena as a consequence of that.
-Adam
I don’t know about the State of the Union. I just know we’ve got plenty of problems that nobody pays attention to. Like the defective-ness of our two-party dominance system. Now I have to rant about it.
I’m just annoyed by the back and forth clapping through the whole thing. Just shut up, sit down, and let him try to talk.
So you didn’t retire….? I’m glad.
Not good
Pathetic, but he’ll never admit it.
heh. Everyone’s got an opinion on the state of the union, but how many of us are actually going to sit down, watch the whole speech, and draw some conclusions that aren’t what the TV analysts say we should think? I’m going to try, anyway. But my point is, lots of us are inclined to condemn, few are inclined to take action about it. Changing things is always someone else’s job.
btw, fenixarcane’s leading quote belongs to mark twain.
Happy New Year …
He’ll avoid telling us the truth… Bush is going to say that we’re doing fine, have never been better, and all that jazz…. When really we’re falling faster than ever.
Nicholas
basically no one really knows except the president and memebers of congress and probably the CIA
We’re heading down the wrong path.
Malcontent.
The state of the union on the whole is great if you’re wealthy and scary if you’re middle-class or poor.
To put it this way America needs to focus on her domestic policy and not so much her foreign affairs
So we are down the wrong path but we can change.
Also: I think it’s been quite a while since the opportunity afforded by the upcoming speech has been seen as a chance for an objective assessment of the state of the union rather than shameless speechifying and ax-grinding.
chuc mung nam moi! happy (vietnamese, chinese) new year!
We are in massive debt, education and social programs are in dire straits, and the president does not care. His only worry is the war. We are in trouble…
Not very Union-esque. Not even a majority of American’s stand behind Bush anymore, and it seems that each day, something worse comes along that decimates the little faith that we had in him. Furthermore, when I was competing in student congress at a Forensics tournament yesterday, I saw legislation that was so cynical and disturbing. Among these was to revoke the annexation of Texas… At first it almost seemed like it could be a good idea, but in reading the legislation itself, those Texans wishing to remain US citizens had to become slaves in Wyoming natural resource mines and if we ever give the new nation that arises out of Texas humanitarian aid, it must come with the price of all of their oil. What the hell is going on in our nation that would promote even teenagers to think like that. There has to be something wrong with us if we are looking at becoming un-United just because of idealogical differences and unwillingness to pay for disaster relief.
I uncertain what is wrong with us, but I see that we slowly are becoming less unified and the prospects for our future don’t look good.
Wow, I really don’t know.
George W. Bush, a confusing, strange guy.
I love the theme of your site! Coffee houses are so addictive! Or at least the products they sell are! I’ve been told that it’s just as easy to get hooked onto your site. Is this true?
I think it’s been too long since any president has been able to give an honestly good state of the union speech….
The state of our union is absolute debauchery.
* Regarding the “spying statement”
Our government has spied on us for ages. -How do you think they knew about WACO and Ruby Ridge? – Spying dear, Spying! – and it’s nothing new! BUSH did NOT invent it, nor is he the first or only one to use it.
It’s mediocre at best. It seems that once a person is elected to any position from president to alderman several things happen to them.
+ They become unable to admit if they have made a mistake.
+ They forget what it is like to be a regular taxpayer … with gross spending on ridiculous stuff to appease ridiculous people.
+ They do not care what the citizens want and only worry about the opinions of the groups/individuals that support their campaigns.
It’s got to be a hard job being the president of the US …no doubt. It seems like they all tend to lose touch with reality. They are surrounded by people with agendas and those who tell them what they want to hear — maybe they are afraid of losing their jobs if they do.
Okay…this is just a bummer of a comment…I need to go for a walk on the beach to clear my mind of this melancholy mood.
Happy Sunday!
well…i am glad that “the closer” is on…TNT…. so my evening will not be interupted
* We were deep in debt before Bush took office and as long as we keep giving our money away, this will not change.
“Social programs in dire straits” …? I’m a firm believer in hard work. If you don’t work, you don’t eat.
Our churches and other faith based institutions need to step up to help those in need, not our government.
i knew you wouldn’t retire
There’s totally a blooming democracy in Iraq, 15% of the population without health insurance isn’t THAT much, and the Gulf Coast and our army are going to be bigger and better than ever before!!!1111 [/sarcasm]
I wish I had something intelligent to say…but nope, not a word in my head on this one. All I know is even though I should be watching the prez in his speech, I’ll probably be reading a book or watching something on tivo instead… Fortunately I have a husband who’s up on most of this stuff and I trust him completely…
not so fabulous, but it’s been worse
Not looking real good right now.
CRAP.
unsure, angry, confused, divided.
Hmm… the country itself isn’t too bad. The economy is growing (despite what liberal media leads you to believe), Saddam is out of power (though no real power has been restored to his ex-country), and you don’t see Paris Hilton on TV everyday anymore.
He needs to address some concerns I have about energy (more specifically, when can we drill Alaska, and how does he expect to end our dependance upon foreign oil).
State of the Union: CONFUSION.
heh.
I think we spend to much time arguing over the things that don’t matter, and the ones that truly do, we don’t even begin to approach.
wow. new look. pretty nice.
oh no. i get embarassed talking about birthdays and that sort of thing too much. my sister and i have the same birthday though, and she’s always talking about her’s, so people just sort of remember mine because of it. so i guess she’s the publicist for the birthday and all. lol.
It’s a mess.
I don’t really have much of an oppinion, but I’ll tell you one thing
the state of the union drives me nuts because it usually interuppts a show I’m watching
and yes, I know that sounds bad, but it’s still annoying
btw, lovin’ the new layout and profile pic.
thanks for the comments, you always make me smile
I’m really worried about how this administration is going to handle Iran and Hamas. This could easily erupt into even more war, and what scares me is that I think that’s what the Neo-Cons are hoping for.
What Drakonskyr said. (Obviously I am in want of coffee.)
And oooh damn, why does he always interrupt Gilmore Girls? I can understand some retarded reality tv show….
I don’t understand how someone could get so many comments. . .

^ The Truth About The State Of Our Union
By Dennis J. Kucinich
We are a nation without God as a whole….I’m worried and saddened by where our nation is headed. We are a nation that thrives on spending and lost morals. Breath of Dawn stated it well….sowing seeds of self-destruction. AND I don’t completely blame Bush…we’ve been heading that way for a long time.
They’re all liars.
…..Oh boy Dan. I’ve been sitting here watching back to back world trade center shows on A&E all afternoon, and now you ask this. My answer: We are in horrible shape, have spent waaaay to much money invading the WRONG country, and will continue to do so. I think it’s pathetic, and we are being led to slaughter by a lunatic cowboy. I don’t see how anyone can say we are doing well. The prices of gas for my car, oil to heat my home, the lives we continue to lose in Iraq….it’s just disgusting. *scowls*
Seventy-sixth comment. That’s a record for me!
I think Bush is the least qualified president we’ve ever had, and certainly one of the least intelligent. The way he’s run this country in the years since he was first elected makes me sick. Call me crazy but it seems like his entire administration’s just out to get what’s best for them.
~Kayla
I think our union needs a new leader.
No idea.
overall pretty good but there are some questions that linger and need to be addressed
I can’t believe he is talking again.
The State of the Union is bad, but Bush won’t make it seem that way. Like all politicians he is a liar, only he sucks at it.
Erika
No Idea, and I don’t really care.
The state of America is not much of a concern to me. I am more concerned that out PM is some kind of little toy on a string for your President. I worry that Bush will say something totally preposterous and Howard will think it is a great idea and do likewise!
That is the only way the state of the union could hold any interest/concern for me.
Every year, I try to watch his State of the Union just so I can keep up to date, but I usually get so disgusted that I turn it off after the first few minutes. I think the current state of the union is bad and could possibly get worse. I think our country is in more trouble now than it has been for years. Unfortunately, the worst part is, I don’t know what to do to reverse that trend.
Hope you’re having a nice weekend. =)
What is the state of our Union?
Can you say, “Rome on the eve of its fall”?
How about “Germany at the beginning of the Third Reich”?
We are S-C-R-E-W-E-D, SCREWED, FUCKED, FUBARED, BENDING OVER AND GRABBING OUR ANKLES, or however else you want to put it.
Our government spies on us, tortures people, and wages illegal wars for justifications it invents out of thin air. It silences the opposition with fear, it hinders investigations, it rigs elections and puts a stop to free presses, all the while it funnels money away from its increasingly-more-impoverished citizens and into the pockets of its wealthy cronies. It is foaming at the mouth to limit the rights of women and people of alternative sexuality, to mandate Christianity in schools, to leave the poor and unfortunate to the anguish of their poverty, to allow big businesses to trample the environment and the rights of their workers. It has closed its mind to the better elements in our society, the ones rationally arguing for peace, for tolerance, for reaching out to the poor and sick, for funding scientific advancement to help detoxify our environment, find cleaner energy and invent cleaner modes of transportation.
We were the land of opportunity, but we have SQUANDERED it.
Of course, that’s not what you will hear in the State of the Union Address, because above all else, our government is one of lies, propaganda, and deception.
i think everything is on the rise.. sure, we hit a slump, but given the conditions we were thrown into after 9-11, what country wouldn’t? people are too quick to criticize pres. bush, but how many of them could run the country better than he? he’s doing the best he can with what he’s been given.
I believe America and the free world is moving into another enlightenment, a re-re-renasissance if you will. Peace.
-Pilgrim of Truth
Unfortunately, I live in the state that is either #49 or #50 on the food chain… I probably shouldn’t comment on the well-being of the entire nation. My eyes are a little clouded.
Hey Dan, I just wanted to bring to your attention an imposter of yours. TheTheologiansCafex stole your picture, background, and some of your posts exactly as-is. I just thought I’d tell you…
Nicholas
i don’t know, but it is a good thing he isn’t doing his little pep talk during Super Bowl Sunday!!! GO STEELERS!!!!!!!!
Cheers!
Megan
State of Crap. Luckily I don’t watch tv on Tuesdays. Bah.
i completely agree with ilsurvive ^^
the countrys just been going down down and further down the drain for a while now. we need to pull out of iraq. everybody says they are for world peace, but it seems the only way we try to achieve it is by fighting other countries and people, trying to bring peace to them. i think we first need to straighten out all of our problems before we go to war with other countries. how is violence supposed to bring peace anyway?
we need to have a spring clean up of america. we are like, the landfill of the world.
Wow, tough question. I need to think about it, though…and talk about it on my OWN xanga. It is a conundrum…
State of the union? Mine’s Ohio… Okay that was lame. I feel that overall, we’re pretty strong. While some might lead us to believe that the only thing to pay attention to is the ongoing war on terror (indeed, an important part of our current state), there’s a lack of focus on our border troubles, the real positives and negatives in our economy, state of political psychotic tendencies between the parties, etc… I’m particularly interested to hear him address the border issue. I always enjoy hearing the pointed responses to the Dems.
the current state of the union is: TRUTHINESS
i think bush himself has no clue ..
he can state all he wants.. actions speak louder.
we’ll see.
I just think we need some changes.. major changes! Gas prices are high, our support on education is at an all time low, our economy is horrible shape.. we are at war! I don’t see anything worse other than an epidemic or an pandemic.. and the CDC says that’s soon to be here.. due to the lack of government support on diseases…
HOLY crap.. gee Dan.. thanks for depressing me!
George W. Bush started the war, and now we’re going to have to fix it, too. The war is confusing. It’s about weapons, politics, oil, and religion. Jihad, or whatever. And that stuff about Iran’s nuclear weapons. And war between Israel, and some other country. I don’t get it, really. America right now is probably in it’s worst state, also. Okay. Well maybe not, and the Great Depression was worst. America just isn’t… reunited anymore. Anyways, people say a lot of bad things will happen to America this year and the world, too….
Together, we stand. Apart, we fall,
it is collapsing
The state of the union is in disaray, however I’m not surprised. I’m of the firm belief that everything happens for a reason. I’m not into politics much, but I recognize the fact that God is in control. No matter what Bush says or does, God’s going to work it out they way He’s planned it. GW is only a vehicle.. along with all other world leaders.
Just sittin’ back, taking it all in.
I am most unimpressed with the state of the Union. And that may possibly be the biggest understatement I’ve made in months.
I could rant until this is the size of a whole entry in itself (and indeed, that will probably happen anyway, no matter my efforts), but I would rather just say some things concerning the home atmosphere, as other people have mentioned a lot that I agree with already, concerning the way we’re being governed.
Everyone plainly has different opinions on the true state of the Union, and you can hear a different perspective everywhere you turn. The fun(?) thing about all this is you don’t know who to believe. Plenty of people here have mentioned the “liberal media.” Others think the media is too conservative and is not doing its job. The President, meanwhile, repeats “The American people are safer” until he’s blue in the face, but the truth of a statement does not increase with the number of repetitions, unfortunately enough. There’s never any telling what to believe online. So if we don’t trust our politicians or the reporters, then what the hell do we have to go on? Some issues will always be under dispute, but when even the truth that is supposed to be reported by objective sources comes under suspicion, then we have no facts. Even if you know something is true, someone else is always ready to say, “That news station is SO biased,” or some such. Whether this is because the stations really are biased or because our people only believe what they want to believe, I’m not sure, but I’m tempted to choose the latter, from what I’ve seen.
The state of the Union? Politicians aside, no one listens to each other. It’s all about being right, being loud, and shooting anyone down who disagrees. I’ve been told several times to leave this country if I hate it so much (which I do not), and the comment, “What are you, a Communist?” has many a time graced my ears. If we can’t have open discussion without completely losing our heads; if we completely forget the separation of church and state, and continuously push our individual ideals upon others through legislation; if there are so many who claim that those who don’t support the President are unpatriotic and ignorant and should, in fact, leave; if we ignore even credible sources and label them liars; then how, how can we call ourselves a Union of any sort? I feel as though I live in a nation of squabbling siblings sometimes. I can hardly believe how much so many Americans seem to hate each other.
Not only am I displeased with this current administration’s handling of their power; I am very displeased with how, through all this, we treat each other, and how the truth of matters has become all but irrelevant compared to who screams the loudest. Hey, majority rules.
The State of Our Union is faltering. We have yet to justify our entry into Iraq. Everything costs more, but our paychecks have yet to rise to meet those growing costs. We have a president who openly spies on civilians without their knowledge or any approval whatsoever. We are in a sad state. I am ready for a new president and new leadership all around.
Can you say “constitutional crisis”?
We have sold our souls to partianship! Everthing is cast in an us vs. them mentally, blue vs. red, black vs. white! The fact is we are both us and them – and everytime we play this game – we lose!
We need to pray for our soldiers! Pray for our citizens! Brain for a brain that thinks beyond next quarter’s books!
I could be way better. However people will never be willing to work towards a perfect union. No one wants God. Because that means you can’t have any fun right? Is rape fun? Is murder fun? Are broken homes fun? Is destroying your life with drugs, drinking, and STD’s fun? Is abuse fun? I think these are all retorical questions aren’t they?……..maybe not in today’s sociaty.
Well, I get up every day not scared that a grenade is going to come through my window, I can speak freely to my neighbor about anything without fear of being persecuted by the government, I can hop in my vehicle and drive anywhere I want on good roads without fear of being held hostage by a gorilla unit, I can worship what I want, when I want, where I want without being beaten to death in the streets, and if I don’t want to do something, I don’t have to (for some people, that includes not working and living off me, and those of us that do have jobs).
Some of you people have your heads so far up the “I hate Bush” ass that you seem to overlook exactly how damn good you have it. And when you pull your heads out you will realize that it is people like yourselves that are causing the very problems you are bitching about.
The current state of the union is fine, if you don’t take into account the people in it.
domestic issues no doubt! HEALTHCARE affecting ALL ages and generations. social security and pension plans. They have to do soemthing to take care of the aging and folks who are still young.
bunch of people who wants raise!
All I know is that I’ll be watching a DVD or something instead of the State of the Union.
thanks for watching over xanga land while i was gone, dan. if ever xanga needed a president, i’ll be sure to vote for you. =P
I think it’s a depressing thought… even more depressing when you realize that blow hole will take up 3 hours of tv time.
So glad to have you back! I missed a few entries and had to catch up
That state of the union, by the numbers is really great right now, economy, unemployment (even with major layoffs)…
the union is focusing on things that are better off left alone..like war.
it needs to start caring about the environment, eduacation, etc…and stop wasting tax money.
i think by now the stations should know when the president is going to do his fluff peices and change the shows so we don’t miss them.
i so care what the fluff peice is going to be about.
I won’t be tuning in to hear a bunch of false facts. Our nation is hurting BIG time-especially where the poor and hurricane victims are concerned. He will blab on about the war on terror-a usual. He’ll no doubt have the earphone box thing on again, so the real writer can talk through the dummy. I am just amazed that this guy is still in office!! he should be impeached, for many things-the main one being, how he broke the law with surveillance. (sp)
i feel like citizens are losing their rights and that politicians are getting away with everything, breaking laws and making new ones to make them look justified in what they did. The country seems to be going further and further down the drain..things need to change. and we need a better leader
It is rather shitty, I really must say.
I think at this point Americans are just tired
xPaJaMaxCoRpSx said it pretty well; though I don’t believe in a lot of Bush’s tactics, people are ignorant and immature to think that if anyone else in office would make much of a difference. He’s balancing on a wire; this country is in a difficult state, and according to the general population/media/countries abroad, he is incapable of anything.
Freedom of speech and opinion is one thing, but violent and stubborn extremists throw us into a backward spiral. It pushes problems deeper and deeper.
I’m looking forward to 2008 and its new contenders, but he is what we have until then, and as a country we should show a little belief in our leader, whether or not we necessarily agree with him.
Maybe, lol, He’ll tell the truth. But I’m not holding my breath. He hasn’t been any where near totally truthful yet or ever.
Though I’m not quite supportive of Bush at times, I believe that when put in a position of power in which everyone is focusing on your actions and your abilities to succeed, one’s mistakes tend to get amplified. Yes, I believe our country is currently in a state of “power corruption”, but we simply cannot blame politicians as a whole. We can’t simply just blame Bush.
Bush is going to say what he thinks we want to hear. In his position, its better to lie, and tell the people what they need to hear, rather than tell the immediate truth and allow for the people’s emotions to run rampant. I feel like the state of the Union isn’t very unified in one belief.
State: El Crappo.
My friend says that America keeps digging itself into a deep hole. I agree. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – this country doesn’t seem to be living up to “the land of the Free.” And I don’t dare say anything bad about El Presidente because they’re all spying on us on the internet and they’ll have the Secret Service on my ass.
Hmm, i think you need a new President, fast.
Did you post this once before? I think you did!
Weak
I think the wheels are coming off the country and no one notices or cares. Other countries around the world hate us. We lose more of our rights as citizens every day under the guise of protecting us. I don’t know why this country believes we are the world’s policeman and have a right to force our will on other nations but we aren’t and we don’t. This war in Iraq has absolutely nothing to do with the terrorist attacks of 9/11. That was Bin Laden not Saddam. I agree we’ve gone too far away from the Christian principles that America was founded on and we need to return to the morals this nation was founded on. But that’s another freedom we no longer have, religious freedom.
Hmm… let’s see… we’re legally alienating people that have differing ideas from the masses, we’re refusing to consider the environment for a second, and won’t fund research for alternative fuels, and we’re forcing our will onto other nations. Yep. Sounds good to me. By the way, you know what transfers great to writing? Sarcasm.
the country’s in a very divided state.
sexy
The State of the Union: Divided
Red America went to war with Islamic militants
Blue America went to war with Red America
As pres., I would:
Close the borders until we fix our immigration problem
Force congress to end pork and pass a line-item veto
Increase current troop levels to 1 million
Begin the arduous task of decreasing the size of the federal government, this would include ending all unconstitutional departments (everything but State, War, Treasury, and Justice)
Appiont strict constructionists like Pryor, Janice Rogers Brown to the supreme court
Continue rolling back taxes, ultimately working towards an end to the income tax
Oh yes, I would also work to privatize Social Security, increase the pressure on muslims and in Iraq, end all foreign aid except military aid to allies (ala Israel), and scale back all (with the goal of ending) entitlement programs.
utter chaos like always, but thats whats great about it:)
you know, watching the debates between bush an carey was funny. i remember carey saying he was going to lower taxes and pay for stuff and george w had a confused look on his face and said tell me and ill do it….then all of these psuedo liberals were all for carey and did any of them vote? none that i talked to, but here they were preachig to me all the time. all a man can do is try. i dont like bush or carey, but it could always be worse. this war wasnt another vietnam, thank goodness
It’s done. America’s been gone for long time.
The state of our union is the same as it always has been. The extremely wealthy are taxed less than the middle class who are taxed less than the poor. I say you want to settle the deficit? Put a ten percent tax across the board for everyone corporations included not tax cuts just 10% of what you earn and we will have plenty of money and everyone will pay their fair share. Why do the less privileged people always have to support this nation with their children and their money while the BUSHs and KENNEDYs away not have to pay their fair share? Why isn’t one of the Bush daughters in this war? They are old enough to fight for their country.
Iraq, look we started this war and we need to finish it or we will be back here again. Or did we all forget what daddy Bush did?
Environment: Well just visit my site to read what Bush has done to our environment.
Badness, serious trade deficit, low social mobility, v.low wages for people living of the bottom run of the social scale.
Corperations are seriously out of control.
However Bush isn’t going to care about that, the focus will be on side-tracking and he’ll therefore bring up polarised issues such as Gay Marriage, Abortion and the War on Terror.
Either that or resort to good news spin.
Be interested if there are any vague references to the War on Iran which’ll be soon I guess.
You think Condelezza Rice will be the next president?
State of the Union? not great, not horrible….just OK. in fact…just ok.
I guess retirement just doesn’t work for some people, huh!
The state of the union in my opinion can get worse, but it will have to really try.
Either Good or Bad, I’m pretty sure.
Overall good, I think. If he would just get us out of Iraq…

hmm..im not sure what the current state of union is…i do hope..it wasn’t war, katrina victims, stupidity, alito, increase in poverty, etc. becuase that is what we have amounted to thus far
Our president. Needs balance
i’d say we’re in bad condition b/c the country is losing sight of morals and has become too liberal. but that’s obviously based on my religion, so there are many who would disagree with me.
This country is a fixer upper. It needs a lot of repair. We need a national health plan FOR EVERYONE, we need higher quality education, we NEED TO GET OUT OF IRAQ since it’s a bullshit fabricated war. We need for the rich to start caring about others in their communities.
We need Bush out of the White House and back on the ranch playing with himself or whatever the hell he does in the privacy of his own home.
hi do i know you
1. Economy is very good, unemployment is down to about 4.9-5.0 percent, the GDP will end up being about 3.5-3.7 for the year of 2005 which is really great, the deficit is a little up about 50 Billion more than previously thought, but it’s a very small percentage of our GDP and is manageable.
2. The war on terror is a see-saw battle. We liberated roughly 23 million people in Iraq and about 12 million people in Afganistan. Both have had their elections and from some of my oldest daughter’s friends who have been in Iraq or Afganistan, they say that democracy is taking hold in both countries. Mom & Pop shops are open, the water system in Iraq is doing very well, and many things are happening for the good but are not reported in the mainsteam media. We’ll probably be in Iraq for another 2-3 years then we’ll leave it to the Iraq armies.
3. Crime according to the latest FBI figures is way down. In some places that were a hotbed for crime the percentage is down about 15% or more. We have many friends who are in Police agencies and we get the local figures from them, not from the media.
Are we perfect, no; not at all. We are the worst savers of our income since the 1930′s. We tend to live from paycheck to paycheck because we have to have that “perfect item” to satisify our ego so we go into debt to get it. Unless it is a home or some other kind of investment we must ask ourselves if we really need that item.
I look it at this way. We all need to look inside ourselves and see how we are doing. Do we cheat, steal, rape women, etc? That’s the gage I look for in a person of character.

frankly, I don’t think we have to be attacked from the outside to have the US go down the tubes. It’s being torn apart from within by racism and a general lack of cohesion in its citizens. We’re turning into a bunch of whiny babies that want Big Brother to take care of us and watch over us, yet we want to blame Big Government for our social ills.
I don’t really care about all this crap. I mean yeah we should pull out of Iraq but that won’t happen over night like veryone wants. I think Bush is hillarious and makes the whole thing a little soothing??? No wrong word. He’s like the comic relief of the country
Children of Zion Behold, The Bridegroom Cometh!
It’s truly amazing what is happening in our world. Never before has prophecy been more meaningful and pertinent to our daily life. Incredible prophecies are being fulfilled right before our very eyes. What a thrilling time to be alive! You may ask “why are we so excited about this being the end time?” We are excited because all of these Final prophecies whisper Jesus is coming back soon!
The Rapture is when those who love Jesus go with Jesus Christ to heaven in a Twinkling of an eye,and those left behind will be forced to think weird explanations, like the Multitudes of People who disappeared went into a ufo etc.
After the Rapture, the world will be in chaos immediately. Some people will be raptured while driving in their cars, causing the cars to crash. Some people will disappear while working the most important jobs in the country, and once they disappear, cities will be destroyed. Planes will crash, electricity will go out, and phone lines will be jammed for days.If you think THIS sounds bad, the Judgements are much worse. Dont Be Left Behind!
