The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. I think that you don’t really know until the situation occurs. You might think you could die for someone, but then realize you can’t. On the other hand, you may find yourself in a situation – highly unlikely but it could happen – where you would risk your life to help or save someone you don’t even know. Keep in mind that if you are lead by God, whatever happens to you will be for some eternal good. God bless and take care.

there is a man that has haunted my dreams for an eternity……he lives in me..and i would die 10000000 times again if it meant he would live with my soul till the end of time
When it came down to it, I honestly don’t know Dan. Sometimes I think I could die for most anyone (pride) but when it came down to it, I bet I’d be too selfish and die for no one.
God,family,friends……..I wonder if it’s really as hard to die as we think? I don’t think so how many of us would run into a burning building to save a child?
My little sister.

I wish I was willing to die for anyone, but I can’t honestly say I would. I would however die for my family, my friends, my religion and beliefs, and hopefully whoever God called me to die for.

Fiona!
I think a lot of people say that they would be willing to die for someone, but I often wonder if they would honestly follow through with it in the end. I would say that I would die for my family and only a few intimate friends. I would hope that I would be the kind of person who would put other’s in front of myself as I always try to hold to, but in the end I have to question myself as to whether or not I would be selfish or follow through. All in all I would hope that my unconditional love for my family would win out and I would sacrifice myself.
I have to say that this question honestly has challenged me in more ways than even my schoolwork has as of late. Thanks Dan! =)

i think my parents and my best friends would die for me, and i would die for any members of my immediate family, my best friends, or just anyone i see fit to. lol.

my sister.
I would die for her in a heartbeat.
My sister, my one ex, and my current boyfriend.
At least, I hope I would. But no one really knows unless given the position.
anyone of my immediate family members.
Those who would Kill me… Misguided would be their hands, but I wouldn’t hold that against them. But more specifically, My friends, My Love… anyone except for my mother and father… Now, I would die With them, but not for them. It would seem wierd, that situation wouldn’t be allowed to play out… my father would not let me. my mother would forbid it.
I wouldn’t give my life for this Country’s government… But I would for the people, and the land, and the ideals. But not in it’s current petty state. Now for the reform… I might be willing to.

Umm… pass.
Dying for someone or something may be the easy part. Living is harder. Who do you live for?
That’s saying a lot. It’s like… donating your heart to them tomorrow for surgery and then you just die.
I’m hoping to die to that special person who’d love me.
But I don’t know. I might die alone.
No one. Sounds nasty, but it’s the truth. I’d risk my life for my loved ones, tho.

Have you seen Mystic River? That movie bring up a damn interesting question; What is greater, family, or what’s wrong & right. If your wife killed sum1, would you do what’s right & turn her in, or would you help her cover it up?
To answer your question, I don’t really believe in a distinct wrong & right, so I’d die for my family, be it blood or aquired.

also, i know that my mother and father would die to save me (from what exactly dan?) but don’t know how my bro would react. i don’t know if i’d die to save my father. it’s not a selfish thing, it isn’t. just that i’d respect his wish to let me live in his place. especially if my mom and bro were left behind. i’m younger, and i earn the same amount of wages as he does. i could provide for and protect them if i needed to. it would be a fair exchange. also, i think my mother would be in less pain if she lost my father, than me. my bro? who knows what he thinks. or what he’d do. my mom and my bro? i’d die for them without a shadow of a doubt. dying for my father would bear consideration…for what was best for them. i’m not a saint, but shoot me dead if i’m lying here, i swear it.
my mom
If it meant saving the persons life, any person. Without questions, those that I know. I’d like to think I’d be able to step up and help even those I don’t.
Anyone that would die for me! plus alot that wouldn’t… Jesus set the ultimate example of love when he died for us all! So i trust God when it comes to that!
for living…

Anyone that I am willing to call a friend. I would probably give my life in a second to save a woman or child.
Without a question I would die for my mother. And my dad if it came down to it. OK, anyone in my immediate family but the in-laws are on their own.
The people I love, and I would hope that I would even be willing to die for those I do not love (if the situation called for it).
: ) Myself, my mom, my lover, and those who really have a charitable heart. But I just wish everyon I love can be safe an healthy!

i’d say my child, but i hate to sound cliche. but i would. but the idea of dying before him terrifies me. who would take care of him? it pains me to think of my son growing up with no mommy.
anyone i love.
and maybe in place of 2 or more people because i try to look at a utilitarian’s perspective.
Interesting question … I would die for my country, for God, for my family, and for my friends. I get close to few people outside of my immediate family, and so basically anyone that I’m close to, I’m very tight with, and so I would die in a heartbeat for them. I think that, also, I would die for someone in danger. Death is not all that horrible of a thing. We have a life after death; all we have to do is make sure that we’re right with God. God bless! Shohna
No one.
My brothers or sister for sure. I would do anything in the entire world for them. Then probabaly the rest of my family. My few close friends.
My Dad, Mom, Sister, Neice, Nephew, Grandparents, several close friends

Yaaa-ouwww!! That is a hard one…we hope it will never come to that. I can’t really imagine a scenario where I would need to die for someone except for a robbery or assault, I guess.
The people who I would protect even if it cost me my life: My children (the cute little rascals), my husband (although he would be fighting to make sure that it was himself and not me — he’s so protective and cool like that), and my sister & her little baby boy.
The rest are on their own…ha! That’s sounds bad …
my kids
Literally “die” for. I would say my children. Although I love my husband, I probably wouldn’t give my life for him.
Glad to see you back by the way!

I am willing to die for my family, friends..
I like to think it would be anyone. Its hard to say until facing that situation though, but I think I would follow through on allowing myself to be killed for anyone who I thought needed it.
My children.
My husband and children!
My mother, sister and Pete
or a child…they would have the rest of their life to live.
My brother, and my boyfriend. And anyone else if I died trying to save them.
her, my other half.
I think this is one of those questions where you don’t really know the answer until you are put in the situation.
But I would think that my answer is almost anyone.
oh yeah– i forgot to ask: who would you die for?
Again … blessed to say “Many.”
My children and my husband.
…oh, and God of course!
This question I’ve been thinking about since I began my walk with Christ.
I’ve only thought to a point of another question, would I die for my enemies?
my mom and dad, and sisters, and three of my best friends, including my girlfriend.
Only you, baby.
I don’t think I’d die for anyone.
Again, we throw words around so carelessly! I would like to think I would give my life for my family, and dear friends. But I remember the story of Peter denying Jesus 3 times in the Christian Gospel. Am I better than Peter? I think this story says a lot about our human nature – so I think the truth is: “I don’t know!”
But a better question perhaps:
Who would you LIVE for?
Anyone depending on circumstances.
boyfriend, family, friends, and my faith
Christ!! I have to honestly think about if I would die for anyone else.
Hmmm obviously my 3 boys..everyone else is a toss up on how much I like them that day.

I want to live.
I’ll die to save anyone, unless I’m trying to live to save myself.
It sounds cold, but you have to give people values like chessmen. You are a queen. No. You are a rook. And if I remember correctly, you should only be willing to give up a rook for another rook, a queen, or a king.

It’s not that I wouldn’t be willing to die for anyone else, but the above are the ones that there would be no thought, do it in a heartbeat kind of thing.
People have put God. I was going to put God. I thought about it then…what situation would I have to be in to die for God? Am I a missionary in a country opposed to the Christian belief that by witnessing my life could be forfeit? No. Am I bible-smuggling? No. Is it the End Times and I must choose between the Mark of the Anti-Christ or God? No. Am I even considering becoming a missionary? No. So when would it be a possibility that I COULD die for God? I HAVE thought about if the Tribulation period were to happen would I have enough faith to proclaim my following of Christ. I pray that I would be.
For those who HAVE put God, if you are willing to die for Him, are you living for Him now? Can people look at your life and see Him in you? I’m ashamed to say that I am a poor example of the Christian I should be.
my kids
Of course, with regards to the Tribulation comment I made, being a Christian, I shouldn’t *BE* around to deal with the taking the Mark of the Anti-Christ.
My family, some very close friends….
My children.
My daughter, my husband, my son-in-law, my parents

“whoever needs me to…” that’s what neongreenlights said… i would hope i would do the same. if i could save someone’s life through my own… what more noble of a way to die is there? and then I’d be with God. but who knows what we would really do in a life or death situation… =P
For husband and my children. ( in the future ) We will all meet in heaven someday….

my man. my kids. and a few good friends – if i trust them enough to take care of my man and kids.
I would of course be willing to die for family members and other important people in my life, but the most imortant person I would be willing to die for would be my wonderful girlfirend.
My close friends and family. This one girl I know. My Lord and Savior, Jesus.
I would die for a homosexual being attacked by a group of men. Its one of the strongest issues I feel anything for. To the death I take this issue. Haha, but im not really gay per se, its just that homosexuals are the last group in America its still pretty ok to discriminate against, openly. It goes across all ethnicities.
God, country, and my friends. hopefully.
The one i love…
I don’t know. I would like to say for my friends and family, but I’m not sure. I’ll cross the bridge when i come to if i guess.
SO GLAD YOU’RE BACK!!!!!!!

I’ve found everyone’s response to this topic to be really interesting.
Why would you give your life for one person, while not for another? Because you love/care for a family member/close friend more than you do for an acquaintance/stranger. Hmm. Why? Heads up, I’m coming from a Christian world-view here. Does God love some of us more than he does others? No. Did Jesus love his disciples more than he loved the men who sentenced him to death? No. Jesus made evident his love for us – all of us, even the men who drove the nails through his hands – by dying for us. (Romans 5:8)
Sometimes it’s like we hand out love like it’s currency. Think about it. We say things like we “value” people, a relationship is “bankrupt”, we “invest” in others lives, and our friendships are “priceless”. Sounds like love is an economy. Those who are close to us or nice to us are given it, while we withold it from those who we don’t know or who are mean to us. That’s not what God did. He sent His son to die for the mean people along with the nice ones.
Jesus said to be like him. I am about 100,000 miles from that point, but darnit, I’m trying to love people like he did. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends (John 15:13).
I would die for anyone. My friends, my family, my not-nice boss, a liberal, or someone who was trying to kill me. Anyone. Not saying I wouldn’t be tempted to chicken out. It’s easy to say, but when/if the moment comes, I’m certain doubts will assail my mind. But this I’m certain of: God will give me whatever I need to stand firm. When my strength fails, His will hold me up.
Ashley
My boyfriend, my dad, my brother my sister, step mum. That’s it.
Hah, and if you didn’t get out of that novella that I’d be willing to die for my faith, let me go ahead and clarify. I would indeed. For my country? If my death could protect someone else, then you bet.
Anyone who I think life is more important than mine (pretty much anyone who wants to live) or needs a second chance to live. I would die for God and I would die for peace as well but God and peace aren’t exactly people…
Anyone in my family and a few friends too…

if you are going to post 6 times a day, atleast get a good picture so the top of the featured page is a little more aesthetically appealing
Just my immediate family members, I think.
But, having said that, I wouldn’t want anyone dying for me. That would be too hard to live with, knowing that someone died for me.
i’d take anyones bullets any day.. at least, if I saw it coming. It would be hard to jump in front of a bullet aiming towards them if I didn’t know that it was taking place…
With out a second thought my children and husband!!! With some thought… I don’t know, I’d have to figure that out if the situation arouse.
Jesus, my country, family,
most of my family members, && four best friends
immediate family, extended family, friends who are like family, and those who i know would die in my place.

anyone that i know can do good for my country, pride, ones i love, fellow man, cause, and the innocent. it is the way of the neo knight. put others needs in front of yours.
Uh… My country, maybe. I’m afraid of death, actually…
i would die for any of the people i ever loved, some of the people i like, people i respect, and anyone else that i thought it was right to do for. but of course, that’s the kind of thing you don’t really know until it happens.
i feel some ways about life….. i wouldn’t mind dying for someone.
Fellow country members.
I will die for God. I would be willing to die for my sister in a heart beat and my mom and dad too. Although i don’t think my dad would want me to die for him. I have a few friends I would like to be able to say I would die for. But that is so hard to know. Even with my family or for God I hope I wouldn’t hesitate or turn chicken at the last second. I don’t think you can know until it happens.
DUUUUUUUUUUUUDE RETIREEEEEEEEE

If it’s to save the one I love? Would be worth dying for.
Jesus (gotta return the favor, right?), my dad, Erin, Sara, Autumn, Biff, Erica, Andrew, Cara…I’d like to say I’d do it for anyone I love. It’s so funny that we have a hard time saying we’d die for someone – theoretically we’d be doing a bigger favor for ourselves. Over and over in Scripture we see that death is life and that we really should have nothing to fear, yet it is so hard to choose it.
*Tara*
I wouldn’t die for someone, I would die with someone. If you had a choice whether to sacrifice the person next to you, or yourself, I would allow us both to die. That way, you don’t feel regret for not saving the person, and that person doesn’t feel guilty for living while you didn’t.
It’s a loaded question. There’s almost no right answer.
For anyone.

i would put my life on the line for anyone who was oppressed or under attack through no fault of their own. there are many worse things than death. if Jesus died for me, the least i can do is offer my life in defense of Shalom (the reconciliation of all things to each other and to G-d), which would mean all creation.

I find it interesting that when the question asked is “Who is willing to die for you?” everyone’s first thought is Jesus. But when it’s “Who would you die for?” his name frequents the replies much less often. Where are all the martyrs?
Anyway. I’d like to think that I’m a good enough Christian to say Jesus. Also, my son, my husband, my sister, her sons- Preston, Desi, Oliver and Elijah, my mother, and the rest of my family. Probably country should I ever serve in the armed forces, and anyone else whose life were in immediate danger.
My immediate family-3 siblings, both parents, and a few very close friends…also I would say anyone that I knew or that had the possibility of not having a relationship w/ Jesus Christ. But the question is not who would you die for, but who would you live for. For example, let’s take Christian martyrs. Could they die for Christ if they had not lived for Christ?
I would also have to say Jesus Christ, as long as I was worthy of that honor, but I think I have a long way to go to be worthy of that honor. I have not lived the life, as much as I’ve tried, that would bring me to the point of being counted worthy for suffering for the sake of Christ through being persecuted as a martyr.

there is a woman…. whom I have search for ten thousand years…. I would die for her…. I have died for her
I don’t know, but I got an email forward today (twice) that said I should forward it to everyone I would take a bullet for. I didn’t forward it to anyone. I’m not sure if that answers your question.

My little brother
there is a man that has haunted my dreams for an eternity……he lives in me..and i would die 10000000 times again if it meant he would live with my soul till the end of time
When it came down to it, I honestly don’t know Dan. Sometimes I think I could die for most anyone (pride) but when it came down to it, I bet I’d be too selfish and die for no one.
God,family,friends……..I wonder if it’s really as hard to die as we think? I don’t think so how many of us would run into a burning building to save a child?
My little sister.
-Hil
I wish I was willing to die for anyone, but I can’t honestly say I would. I would however die for my family, my friends, my religion and beliefs, and hopefully whoever God called me to die for.
-Jared
Thanks Dan! =)
my husband and my babies
sadness
close friends and family
my mom and my brother.
i think my parents and my best friends would die for me, and i would die for any members of my immediate family, my best friends, or just anyone i see fit to. lol.
Almost anyone, a child most of all. NOT altruistic, just reality. ; ~ )

I’m not sure. Sometimes I think anyone not necessarily because I love them, but because of heaven.
NO-FUCKING-BODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

God, my best friend, my brother, and by God’s grace, anyone that He calls me to lay down my life for
almost anyone, but if it really came down to just me saving a child, there’s no doubt i’d do it.
Michael, My Parents & siblings, Tami & Jaden (my Goddaughter), Katie, Rhona, Rodney, Corey, Courtney, Kaitlyn..other family members and friends.

Family, without hesitation. My boyfriend. Pagans, as I know when I leave this Earth, I will be with my Lord and Savior.

Anyone whose life I thought was more valuable than mine
any of my friends or family
Die? Would it do any good? Hmm…my family and my fiancee.
I’d fight first, will all my might and blood. And if that eventually leads to dying, so be it.
my son!
My family, my friends, my enemies.
~Stix
no one. but then i’m not married/childed so i can’t say my wife/children.
My girls, hands down.
Family and best friends
No one. Not anymore, at least.
My God, My Family and My Country. If I have to die for anything else I hope God is there to help me ’cause I don’t know if I could go through it by myself.
My husband and my children.
I wonder.
I hope I never have to decide.
my family, some cousins, girlfriend, and a select group of close friends.
Two people,
1. Camillia
2. Alexander
also, i know that my mother and father would die to save me (from what exactly dan?) but don’t know how my bro would react.
i don’t know if i’d die to save my father. it’s not a selfish thing, it isn’t. just that i’d respect his wish to let me live in his place. especially if my mom and bro were left behind. i’m younger, and i earn the same amount of wages as he does. i could provide for and protect them if i needed to. it would be a fair exchange. also, i think my mother would be in less pain if she lost my father, than me.
my bro? who knows what he thinks. or what he’d do.
my mom and my bro? i’d die for them without a shadow of a doubt. dying for my father would bear consideration…for what was best for them.
i’m not a saint, but shoot me dead if i’m lying here, i swear it.
my mom
If it meant saving the persons life, any person. Without questions, those that I know. I’d like to think I’d be able to step up and help even those I don’t.
Anyone that would die for me! plus alot that wouldn’t… Jesus set the ultimate example of love when he died for us all! So i trust God when it comes to that!
for living…
my fiance. and few other people.
-shawna
Anyone that I am willing to call a friend. I would probably give my life in a second to save a woman or child.
Without a question I would die for my mother. And my dad if it came down to it. OK, anyone in my immediate family but the in-laws are on their own.
The people I love, and I would hope that I would even be willing to die for those I do not love (if the situation called for it).
: ) Myself, my mom, my lover, and those who really have a charitable heart.
But I just wish everyon I love can be safe an healthy!
Jim Gaffigan
i’d say my child, but i hate to sound cliche. but i would. but the idea of dying before him terrifies me. who would take care of him? it pains me to think of my son growing up with no mommy.
anyone i love.
and maybe in place of 2 or more people because i try to look at a utilitarian’s perspective.
Jesus
For God…
for Country…
and speakng of country…
I want to ask of you to do something meaningful…
i want to ask you to read my xanga on 1/30/05…about the death of a Marine from the highschool I went to….
I’m putting a book of condolences and encouragement for his grieving mother…
I’m goign to deliver it to her this weekend…
I want the family to know that his death in Iraq was something that other Americans know and cared about….
that for Christians, that we prayed for them and were sadden but thankful…
ITs the least we can do…

JIM
Hmmm obviously my 3 boys..everyone else is a toss up on how much I like them that day.
my mail women.
Zackery
I want to live.
I’ll die to save anyone, unless I’m trying to live to save myself.
It sounds cold, but you have to give people values like chessmen. You are a queen. No. You are a rook. And if I remember correctly, you should only be willing to give up a rook for another rook, a queen, or a king.
-Adam
My family.
God, my family, my friends, my country…
To those who is worth it.
anyone who needed me. especially my best friend and my family.
oh, and i would be willing to die for my religion.

John 15:13

God, friends, my neighbor, my family.

Jesus’s teachings.

and a few good friends – if i trust them enough to take care of my man and kids.
SO GLAD YOU’RE BACK!!!!!!!
a piece of tiramasu cheesecake
I would die for God and I would die for peace as well but God and peace aren’t exactly people…
Anyone in my family and a few friends too…
Love, Candy

if you are going to post 6 times a day, atleast get a good picture so the top of the featured page is a little more aesthetically appealing
Jesus, my country, family,
most of my family members, && four best friends
immediate family, extended family, friends who are like family, and those who i know would die in my place.
my family and my bf
anyone that i know can do good for my country, pride, ones i love, fellow man, cause, and the innocent. it is the way of the neo knight. put others needs in front of yours.
My Family and my best friend. Definally!
My daughter, parents, siblings and the very very best of friends. I believe God has something to do with that.
As my life means nothing, I would sacrifice myself for anyone I thought would benefit from my death.
friends, family
My baby girl Alex.
my two closest friends: breanna and xavier.
-Maria-
honestly, i rather die before any one i love because then i dont have to go through the pain of missing them. it’s extremely selfish.
so…i would die for any one i love but it’s really for myself? does that make any sense?
God, country, and family
In that order.
The ones I love more than life itself.

My parents, husband, and children.
My boyfriend- without even having to think about it.
Friends, family, and innocent bystanders. I believe (as you can’t really know until you’re in the situation) I would die to save someone I didn’t know.
Aw man…..
I wish I could say my parents, but honestly I think they’d rather me go on if it had to be a choice. And I understand.
My brother maybe. Probably.
My four best friends.
Depends on the situation.
my parents. my ideals. and my boyfriend who doubles as my best friend.
My girlfriend.
My family and my bf
my family, my bestest friends, and the boy i think im in love with
Anyone I admire, even singers or filmmakers that I like. But more importantly, the girl I’m in love with. But if I didn’t end my life for a friend or relative, I think the guilt afterwards would finish the job.
only my three best friends, and my best guy friend, erik. my family can help themselves.
cept for my lil bro’s.

—jesenia—
my boyfriend, and a few of my close friends I suppose
I would die for Tieler!! And family!!
anyone. even the people I can’t stand.
GOD and my girlfriend Angela
family, close friends
For anyone.
Michael, Kyle, Adrienne, Daniel Johns
Anyone.
Chirst gave his life so I could live, its the least I could do for someone else.

i would put my life on the line for anyone who was oppressed or under attack through no fault of their own. there are many worse things than death. if Jesus died for me, the least i can do is offer my life in defense of Shalom (the reconciliation of all things to each other and to G-d), which would mean all creation.
my ex boyfriend.
a few of my friends.

any of my close friends (which is 6+ people)
I find it interesting that when the question asked is “Who is willing to die for you?” everyone’s first thought is Jesus.
