God Part 3
The Mayor of New Orleans made a statement that was similar to Pat Robertson’s statement a while back. Pat Robertson indicated God was punishing America. The Mayor on New Orleans indicated that God was mad at America. He said, “Surely God is mad at America. He sent us hurricane after hurricane, and it’s destroyed and put stress on this country.”
The Mayor of New Orleans, Ray Nagin, believed that God was mad at black communities for the violence and political infighting.
Is God mad at America?

Laundry Part 2
I want to give you another hypothetical. Pretend you went to the same laundry place mentioned in the previous post. Pretend you brought your two year old daughter. Pretend that there was toys there provided by the laundry place. Pretend the toys have probably been played with by several children who had various standards of cleanliness.
Do you allow your two year old child to play with the toys?

Laundry
I want to give you a hypothetical situation. Pretend you had to go to the laundry place to dry a large comforter. Pretend that you were putting quarters in the dryer. Pretend that there was a top dryer that you were using and a bottom dryer that someone else was using. Pretend that you were starting your dryer while the other person was starting their dryer. Pretend that you put in a quarter and the lady who was using the bottom dryer hit the button that caused her dryer to get credit for your quarter. Pretend that she didn’t notice that she took credit for you credit.
Would you just ignore the fact that you lost your quarter or would you tell the lady that she took credit for your quarter?

Child Molestors
I have noticed something in how the media covers child molesters. It appears to me that there is inconsistency in the way they cover a man child molester and how they cover a female child molester.
It appears to me that the media handles some of these woman who molest these boys as celebrities. They attempt to explain their stories. In fact, it appears to me that some of the stories have been treated in a way as to explain their behavior. I am surprised that there is not a greater outrage. One particular situation I saw indicated to me that they were trying to make it look like a love story.
Does the media treat female child molesters differently than male child molesters?

Dreaming
This is part of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “Dream” speach:
And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.
I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.”
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.
I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
I have a dream today!
I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of “interposition” and “nullification” — one day right there in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.
I have a dream today!
I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight; “and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together.”
This is our hope, and this is the faith that I go back to the South with.
With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith, we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith, we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.
Has Martin Luther King Jr’s dream been realized?

Substance
What does a blog post need to have in order to be considered substantial?

Confederate Flag
In the state of Illinois, a memorial is being built to honor confederate soldiers who were killed during the civil war. Initially the group was intending to fly a confederate flag at the memorial. The memorial was built using tax dollars. There has been protest of those in the local area that the confederate flag is a symbol of oppression of blacks.
Should a confederate flag be flown on government property?

Introspection
Today is a day in which I look at myself and ask hard questions. I always try to examine my own motives. I try to examine why I do the things that I do. I try to carefully watch what direction I am moving in and whether I am on a clearly defined path.
I have had a great deal of feedback here recently. I appreciate feedback it helps you learn things you wouldn’t have learned on your own. I spent a great deal of time in the car yesterday thinking. In fact, the last few years have been a time of reevaluation of my life and why I am doing everything that I am doing. That is one of the reasons why this blog has been so helpful. I like throwing out ideas on the table and hearing what others are thinking.

Directions
I was wanting to address the issue of women giving directions earlier this week. I was going to ask if men were better at giving directions than women? I then went to a site where a woman was saying that men give bad directions. I started to wonder if maybe Men are from Mars and Woman are from Venus. I thought maybe we just give directions differently.
When I am receiving directions, I want street names. I do not want directions that include turn left at the large building. I will not listen to those type of directions. I also want to know if I am supposed to head West or North. I can keep it straight in my mind that way.
Do men and women speak two different languages when it comes to giving directions?

Race Part 4
I have been traveling this last week and I have noticed something about every city I visit. Every city that I visit has a Martin Luther King Dr. I don’t notice a Washington Street. I don’t notice a Clinton Street. I simply see a Martin Luther King Jr. Dr.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is coming up here.
Is Martin Luther King Day a politically correct holiday?
