  • Baby

One of my subscribers had a baby.  I want you all to go over and wish her congratulations.  She is roddymccorley.  The above graphic was made by Wendy.

I want to tell you a story that is unrelated to anything but I thought you might enjoy it.  I was doing the laundry today and I was folding the clothes.  My youngest daughter who will be two next week was watching me fold.  I sometimes get the two boy’s clothes messed up.  So I looked at her and asked her “Whose is this?”  She would say the name of the person.  She guessed everyone right except one pair of pants.  She must have known them just by observing us wearing our clothes.  She could guess mine, my wife’s and both of my boys.  It was a bunch of laundry too.

Now for the question:  What do my last three post before this one have in common as a theme?

EDIT:  OK, YOU ALL GOT THE ANSWER RIGHT AWAY.  NOW JUST TELL ME HOW SMART MY DAUGHTER IS.

  • Sex Part 3

Is it cheating to think about someone else when having sex with your partner?

  • Cell Phones

A research report was released recently claiming that woman are 8% more likely to talk on a cell phone while driving.  Many of you have probably seen an individual who is more focused on their phone conversation than their driving.

Should a person talk on their cell phone while driving?

  • Xanga and the Workplace

Is it wrong to spend time on xanga while you are at work?

  • God Part II

I saw an article in Sports Illustrated many years ago that asked the question “Does God answer prayer requests when you pray for your team to win?”  I thought is was a funny question to ask.  I was a kid at the time and I was praying for the Cubs to win the World Series.  I am still praying for that to happen.

Does God answer prayers concerning sports teams?

  • Apple Cider Candles

My wife and I tried to walk into the entrance of Target tonight.  We kept missing.

We walked down the row with all the candles.  We spent 15-20 minutes just smelling the different candles.

    Name your favorite candle scent.

Should a potential parent’s sexual orientation be a factor in an adoption process?

  • Pascal’s Wager

A man named Blaise Pascal came up with a theory.  The theory was the following:  “Let us weigh the gain and the loss in wagering that God is.  Let us estimate these two chances.  If you gain, you gain all; if you lose, you lose nothing.  Wager then without hesitation that He is.”

This has come to be known as Pascal’s Wager.  The idea is that the person who believes is in a better position than the person who doesn’t believe.  The theory goes that if the person who believes is right then he gets to enjoy heaven.  But if he turns out to be wrong he really doesn’t lose anything when he dies.  He will have just missed out on a few pleasures of life.

But the atheist if he is right gains nothing.  He is just in the same position of the worst case situation as the believer.  But if he is wrong, then he ends up in hell.

So the idea of Pascal’s Wager is that a person should just take the risk and believe because he has everything to lose and nothing to gain.

Do you think that Pascal’s Wager represents true faith?
