Horoscope
I have never read a horoscope. I have told people that before and they seem surprised. I don’t know what my sign is. I had a bunch of people come by on my birthday and tell me what it was but I can’t remember. I have never followed that stuff.
I have never read a fortune from a fortune cookie. I have eaten fortune cookies. I just never read the fortunes. I have never read a biorhythm. I get my weight checked sometimes in these public places and I check the weight but don’t look at the biorhythm.
Do you believe the predictions made on horoscopes?
Comments (171)
no i dont believe them
nope.
nah
but they are kinda fun to read at the end of the day =)
*A*
No. They’re so generic they could be true for anybody.
I never read horoscopes, but I like laughing at fortune cookies. a couple times, stuff actually happened in coincidence with something on a fortune cookie, but I don’t believe in the predictions.
it’s strange that horoscopes are frequently accurate.
but no, superstitions are stupid.
yep, read em every day
I have, just for grins, but know people who take it seriously. When you look at your ‘sign’ or what not, somethings click with how your day went, but when you take a look at all the other signs, same thing applies.
i don’t believe them…but sometimes they’re fun to read.
i always read the fortune in a fortune cookie…but i don’t eat the cookie…
No way — they’re so general that of course they’re going to apply to someone at some time.
I never read horoscopes; it’s impossible for me to honestly believe that they’re real. I do read fortune cookies’ fortunes though, just out of interest, but I don’t remember or think again about what they’ve said.
No.
no but sometimes they seem so true
No, but they’re funny.
They’re always so general. Like, seriously… I could think of realistic ways that everything they say for every sign could happen to me in the near future.
I know my sign, I’ve read my horoscope, but I don’t believe it, and I don’t follow it really. Before I accepted Christ it was no big deal. I find fortune cookie fortunes funny…I don’t believe those, either. I don’t put my trust or faith in those things at all.
So, is your next question going to be, “Who goes to a psychic?” It’s all in the same vein, isn’t it?
No,
NO!
Five minutes after i say I don’t read them, I get spammed by someone selling horoscopes. Oh well.
i always add “in bed” the the end of the fortune cookies, just for laughs..
here’s one:
Resisting temptation is easier when you think you’ll probably get another chance later on (in bed)
they are so ambiguous and two-faceted, they can mean anything.
NO
no. It’s funny though, because I read my horoscpoe (Cancer) and it says stuff that happened previous to me reading it.
Thanks for stopping by my site.
No.
I do read them on oocaision though.
Fortune cookies are the only worthwhile read. It’s essentially a “A smile can make a day pleasant” encouragers. It’s a greeting card with a cookie. And I like the cookie.
…in other words, no. No predictions in them.
sometimes….
rcy: I geuss that is because you are abnormal.
RYC: Yes, it is true… I’ve been missing some of my skinny clothes this week. =/ but you live and learn.
*A*
No problem, it’s true. ^_^ I don’t believe in horoscopes, none of them ever say the same thing anyways.
It’s a load of bunk.
I do believe that stars do have some effect on us, I can’t explain how, but I think they do. However, I don’t think you can predict that you will ‘meet a stranger with red hair today’ or that you should ‘avoid green food’. That’s just BS
Ha, not at all.
Horoscopes are a bunch of crud, but they are entertaining to read now and then. I also read my fortune in fortune cookies, because they are funny. I don’t believe in them though. I love fortune cookies though! They are delicious!
Believe? Sure; like Santa and the Easter Bunny …. *LOL*
I collect fortunes.
I’m gonna wallpaper my room with them.. one of these days.
My Asian friend with a Chinese restaurant gave me a bag of 500 cookies for Christmas.
Do I read them?
No. Not really.
I do. But hello.
In that bag I got.
500 cookies.
Maybe… 5 different fortunes.
And they’re all just vaguely worded.
But Jones’ Soda fortunes.
Those are beautiful.
No. They’re designed to be vague so that no matter who reads it they will be able to relate it to their life. A thousand people could all read the same horoscope and each person would be able to find a meaning in it.
Nope.
i think they are kind of accurate but they are so vague that they can be applied to almost everyone.
Nope! I think it’s trash.
no but i still dont like reading them because then i get paranoid.
no, but you’d be surprised how alike you are compared to your zodiac sign.
I fit “Taurus” to a teeee.
i think they’re a bunch of baloney. phooey! haha.
Nope
They are, but there’s some frickin’ psychos on here that worry me for the future.
I won’t name names.
Randomly, I would occasionally read them. Sometimes, they can be shockingly accurate but also dead wrong. During big occasions or events, I would check my horoscope for that day or the next as a habit but mostly for superstition. Birthdays are a must!
Everything about me is Aries.
But all the magazine predictions are bs. Well. Most of them anyways. I used to have a lot of pagan friends so they magazines are like kiddie stories.
I believe that horoscopes don’t exactly tell you what is going to happen in your life, or what to watch out for. I believe they nudge you in a certain direction. Depending on how you take the message. You either take the positive side, the negative side or the middle line. I’ve never had a horoscope tell me EXACTLY how my day was going to be and everything came about. Of course, some people may argue that it all depends on where the planets were aligned whenever I was born. Honestly, I just believe that you are the one that decides exactly how to come about things. Everything else just opens doors.
No, they’re a total crock… but a fun one.
No because Astrology is evil.
(((((( GRANDMA HUGS ))))))
Lori
no
No, I just read them for the entertianment value offered there.
haha. no. but its just for fun. like this one fortune cookie said, “go ahead and be as sexy as you can be” and i opened it in church and literally laughed out loud.
that would be one big negative
no
No, because I am already paranoid enough without some crack pot telling that I will have chicken for lunch and the 12th house will make mars move causing me to sneeze on some poor old lady. Not my cup of tea buddy.
Well, I could make an ugly face and send you that one! I could take a pic of when I first get up in the morning – that would be scary!
I was totally amused by your comment.
Oh, I think horoscopes are general enough, and fit enough people that they have to hit the mark, or the person reading it reads into it. I wouldn’t live my life by it.
Not in the least. I don’t know my sign either… I DO read fortune cookies though. It’s always fun to add ‘ In Bed’ at the end. Hours of laughter can be the product from that!
Not one bit!
What’s a biorhythm?
i read them if i’m bored, but i don’t take heed to what they say. it’s always very generic. i think that when one reads it, one bends the words to make it applicable to their life…it’s pure manipulation.
No, but I read them for fun.
I read it after my day is done and see if it was right. It usually isn’t.
no. i looked tmine up oonce and it said that i need to shut up and keep my nose out of other peaples bussinss. -.- so i dont look at them eny more. i know what my sgin is though cause its awsome!!!
::scorpio:: ash
wow a ton of peaple are sayin no!! so whats the point of havin emm? ohh right…chinessess back then. right right right…..i knew that ^.^ just uhh…testin yea and u passed yay!
ash
no
no…….. it doesn’t help that I’m not like my sign at all
I like fortune cookies though… but more for the eating
not applicable… i do enjoy having my paws read
Once every year or so I’ll read a horoscope, just for kicks but no way I believe in ‘em. Fortunes I read everytime I eat a fortune cookie, and often wish it would happen. They are also entertainment. In college, ‘in bed’ or ‘in the bathroom’ was often tacked on to the end of each fortune cookie…made it really entertaining!
They must be absolutely true. I heard that Nancy and Ronald Reagen believed in them 100%–and they were GREAT HOLY XTIANS.
Hahahaha
I read the fortune cookie fortunes because my kids have a game that has you add the words “in bed” at the end of the fortune. Sometimes it can give the fortune a whole different meaning….lol. Other than that, I do not believe the perdictions because they are too vague.
Of course not. They’re not even interesting.
I use to read em, but I don’t anymore… There’s a verse somewhere in the Bible that talks about this type of stuff… I know it’s in the Old Testament at least. lol
~Ash7-Ashley
Above calling out top ten? Hell no!
I’m above a lot of the stupid shit people do when they comment you, but that’s not one of them.
*shrug*
whenever i hear about horoscopes i always dismiss them as silly superstition, but strangely enough, whenever i do check mine it’s always creepily accurate. i haven’t been convinced though that they actally work.
Not always. It’s fun. Sometimes it actually says something that corresponds with specific things going on in my life – I don’t know if it’s coincidence or not. I take it mostly as advice.
well about the horoscope thing.. see I dont believe in them but I noe there is zome people dat read it n believe it zo much dat atcually happne to them wut it zayz there… I do read juzt for da fun of it!
Considering the zodiac has shifted an entire sign, no. They are generalized to fit anyones day, but they are fun to read with friends.
Can you say Barnum Effect?
Fortune cookies are great, I got one just yesterday that was only 1/2 done. “You will encounter and exciting new…” and it stopped, nothing on the back. I’m waiting to encounter my exciting new
no
Nope
no not really. they’re never right. but the times when they are right, it’s really on point. i believe in my sign, virgo, and identify with it a lot.
no not really. they’re almost never right. but the times when they are right, it’s really on point. i believe in my sign, virgo, and identify with it a lot.
Stars can’t tell the future any better than I can.
no, not at all
no but they are fun to read
No, I don’t believe in horoscopes, but I do read them. Sometimes I’m actually a bit surprised at what my prediction says.
not really, but they’re fun to read and see if they match how your day actually goes.
87th!
just as much as fortune cookies
i.e. helll no!
Not at all.. generally they’re vague or generic enough to be self-fulfilling.
Occasionally I’ll notice it and read it in the paper in the afternoon or something, and it will be completely wrong.
even if you believe in all that spirtiual stuff.
there are about 6 billion people in the world (speaking in english-english terms)
there are 12 horoscopes.
so there are only 12 possible paths in life you can take? depending on when you were born? pretty bleak.
not to mention every newspaper, website, and magazine publish a diffrent horoscope…so which one is ‘right’?
not to mention that that would involve some ‘higher force’ controlling your destiny which is also bleak because nothing you do can change your life unless ‘someone’ wants it to. not to mention a higher force would have to exist.
yeah i alwyas read them. i sorta like them alot (even htough some dont make any sense). my favorite said YOU WILL FIND LOVE ONLINE. isnt that cute? haha
I read them for fun. We actually play games with the fortunes using questions and such. One of the more idiotic, but entertaining games that always works is saying “in bed” at the end of any fortune (at least from a fortune cookie). It always fits and it is always funny for a little more mature humor.
As for the question, are fortunes accurate, there is an absolute ”No” on the idea that they are. They are man and machine made. Unless someone is reading the stars (which is most likely a man made myth) there is little modern basis to an idea of reading fortunes. However, from a theological standpoint, one could say that they are accurate in that ‘everything happens for a reason.’ The fortune you read may alter your day in a significant way, changing the course of your life and the history of the earth and the universe. The human words of a fortune may not be accurate, but God(s) [in any form] may use such an event towards a goal, or a fate for you and all that come after and during your lifetime.
That is, if you believe in divine intervention or predestination.
I read mine occasionally Dan.
Sometimes though i think we read them, believe in them and change our day or alter how things happen to make them seem right because we believe in them so much.
Have a great weekend.
good on ya. I haven’t done any of the above except read a few fortune cookies.
I don’t pay attention to them myself, but I do like to look at fortune cookies and add the words “in bed” to the end of the fortune. That almost always yields a new and amusing meaning.
there is usually something in them that we all can relate to.
i like to read them at the end of the day when i do….see if any of it meant anything….which it usually doesn’t
No, I don’t bother reading horoscopes … they are too vague and meaningless. The only way to read fortune cookies is to add the words “under the sheets” after the fortune. Example: I was recently had a fortune cookie and it said “your tongue is your advantage” … then add “under the sheets” … THEN it makes sense!! Have a great day!
I don’t believe in them. I will read the fortunes off of fortune cookies for fun, but I don’t follow anything else.
I don’t believe them but I have read them…its fun to read…if you read all of them they sound alike so no matter what month you were born you could be that….
Horoscopes? No.
My Tarot Card readings? Somewhat.
They’re so vague, that they can almost always be said to be true…
I don’t always believe them but I read them.
There is a little bit of truth to everything. If there wasn’t, then people wouldn’t believe it in the first place.
However I don’t believe there’s enough truth to one thing to make any real predictions about the future.
nope
its only entertainment, about as good as a fortune cookie, nothing more. I don’t believe anything about astrology.
I read ‘em occasionally but if they were true, I’d be rich and famous with a perfect love life and a thirving career. Lol. I just am interested to hear what some random person thinks is going to happen in my life every so often.
Not really – but it is humorous to read them sometimes!
*thriving
I DO believe in astrology as a whole, but the day to day horoscopes are contrived, for the most part. Enjoy your weekend, Dan!
I’ve never read a horoscope either…no idea what my sign is. I’m with you!!!!!
nope
I do sometimes. Sometimes in some way they relate to something that is going on in my life, but other times, they don’t and I don’t pay attention to them
I used to not even read my horoscope because I believed in them so little….but lately I’ve started to read them and have seen how true they often seem to be. I guess it all depends on my mood….and if it says something good or bad!
i always read my horoscope. I think because growing up, my mom was always reading them. I’m a Gemini. I’ve read a lot of materials about astrology and personality traits by sign. My mom says that if she ever wants to know whats going on in my life, she just reads my horoscope. I’m a true gemini. Its hard to not buy into it a little when its so right on the money.
I find it hard to believe you’ve never read a fortune.
My horoscope predicted you would ask this question!
not really.
i like reading them though.
they’re interesting. =]
no.
they’re fun to read but i don’t believe them…although sometimes they are actually pretty correct.
I always look forward to the fortune cookie verses, so hoping they would be right. However any of the others No I dont believe.
Any predictions I will find my lost cell phone?
i dont believe them
no. they are too vague…
Yes and No. No, I don’t believe the fortunes pertain directly to me. But Yes, I believe each fortune can be interpreted to fit anybody’s life… If you would read one you would see how generic they are. They are just like a proverb or common sense advice that anyone could use.
I read them for fun. You can get a good giggle from some of them.
No
No, I don’t believe them.
They’re just a lot of fun to read and look at. =]
i read them but i don’t go all “omg so this is what’s gonna happen”..but i like to brace myself according to those!
XOXO,
cG.
Nope!
L,r
I don’t know what my sign is either. It’s amazing how apethetic you can be about that stuff, when you don’t believe it has any relavence for your life. I do however read fortune cookies, because it’s funny to read them and say “in bed,” at the end. It makes them much more entertaining.
Someone once explained my sign to me in regards to my birth year and correlated it with my personality type and it was fairly accurate. I don’t hang my hat on that kind of stuff though.
Didn’t know you audited THIS SITE too
As that e-mail shows…all this we support the troops talk is bullshit that sells magnetic bumper stickers
And “serving” in the Air Force is akin to saying you were a Cub Scout.
I think horoscopes are just ways humans can make connections. They do not at all predict anything, we just make connections to what they are saying. Example: 9/11 attack =people connectiong to the fact that the numbers of the date are 911. But what if it happened on Hitlers birthday or 11/9? I wonder what the horoscopes on that day said. Really, it could have said anything and we could look at them and connect them to the attack. Face it, we connect everything to anything.
Sorry if I have bugged you by saying connect a lot.
horoscopes are just stupid, but furtune cookies are just for fun, no one takes them seriously
I have read them… but pay no attention to them. It would be idolotrous for me, as a Christian, to put any faith in that stuff… so I don’t
I don’t believe them, but they are quite fun to read. The same goes for fortune cookies. I don’t even know what a biorhythm is.
I read them and I might try to make an association to them, but in all reality….no
nope
but it some sort of satisfied human curiosity
quite amusing i would say
nope
but it can some sort of satisfy human curiosity
quite amusing i would say
Nope. They’re just generalized predictions that happen to be right sometimes. And also it’s just alot of good advice like being friendly and outgoing.
I don’t read horoscopes, and I don’t believe them. I don’t believe Fortune cookies either, but half the fun of eating them is making fun of the fortunes. You should read them.
Yeah, you really should read fortune cookies. In fact, there’s a tradition out there where you add the words “in bed” after whatever the fortune tells you to make things interesting.
I don’t believe them.. but sometimes they do pertain to a certain situation.. but no I don’t believe them.
To a certain extent. I usually read them retrospectively, like I go back and look, and see how much I can bend it to match
But I don’t check them in advance and try to live my life by them.
No. how could it?
Um…no…i do not believe in horoscope ^^
I don’t believe in horoscopes or fortune cookies, but I always read the fortunes and, if I find one at hand, I may read a horoscope. It’s fun, to me. That and I believe God works in mysterious enough ways to screw with me through a fortune cookie. Though, I dislike horoscopes. To think that everyone born in this month will have this kinda of day or this thing happen to them is just a little too far out. Now, a random fortune given at a random time to seemingly only you… With a friggin’ cookie!? That’s fun fortune-telling.
As for biorhythms, I can honestly say, “Huh? What’s that?”
No. They are too general and are made so that either you are subconsiously persuaded by them, or you believe that you can overpower them. Either way they are a waste of time.
hehehe, they make me giggle sometimes, but no, I don’t believe them.
no, i do not believe in horoscopes or fortunes….i believe that if u follow a horoscope and it becomes true, it is only a coincidence…i do believe that their are people out there that can predict the future. no, not because of magical powers, but based on the past and statistics. like said on gothica “i am a reasonable person. i believe in logic. i do not believe in the paranormal.”
i do agree with Anothermadhousewife though on her theory of fortune cookies….i read them just to do so and to entertain myself….anything that i have ever read on a fortune cookie has never come true, or at least, i dont remember…..
I hardly ever read them. When I do I don’t believe them. Surely it can’t apply to all the kajillions of Scorpios in the world. On the same day I found two horiscopes for my sign that totally contradicted eachother.
nah.
I read than once in a while, just for laughs.
NO way!
Hm. I read mine.
And it’s really weird how everything it says is right.
Most of the time.
total BS…I once had a fortune cookie that said something like “you will meet the love of you life very soon” and another read “you will get a lot of money soon”…fast forward a few years…no girlfriend/wife…and no millions…how can these things be real?
I’m a little late to comment, but no…they’re always so ridiculously vague that it means nothing.
no it’s all crap, but hey it’s interesting to look at the crap they tell you.
No, I laugh at them.
nope…but i read them out of curiosity….funny how they are sooo generalized.
i read them when i was a kid. i stopped ever since i became a christian when i was a teenager. hmmm…how can you eat the cookies without reading the little piece of paper inside? fortune cookies: they don’t tell fortunes anymore. i think they just make statements of wisdom or tell how beautiful and smart the eater is. haha.
No. Astrology is using a good thing like the stars to influence a person’s decisions each day, and that isn’t right. Whether or not one believes in it, reading your horoscope somewhat affects you as you make your way through the day.
[ariana]
I don’t believe in horoscopes either. Or astromy, as Jamen’s Grandma says, is evil, according to the Bible. I did get a fortune cookie a few years ago that had a verse on it from the Bible. I saved that one, so it could help me remember Who it is that has planned and honestly knows my future.
Once I opened up a fortune cookie and inside was the guy’s cheque next to me I said “hey buddy I got your cheque” he said “thanks” — r.dangerfield
No of course.
Talking about them with others when they read them could be a good witnessing chance though.
no
I used to believe them, but then I got some sense.
They’re fun to read though.
Same as fortune cookies, I always read the fortune but I never take it seriously.
I never read horoscopes.
I read them sometime but I don’t care what they said. I made up my life and my dream come true, not those words.
No, but my husband insists on reading them aloud anyway.
no, they are generalized…. silly safe things to say to anyone. I thinks it is lame.
i don’t read into the daily horoscopes. but the personality traits, as a sagittarius and a boar, i can identify with.
nope. not really. my sign doesnt even fit my personality closely. its a bunch of crap.
