Xanga School
I have mentioned before that I am pretty much xanga stupid. I really don’t understand any of the features. I am not talking about the new features. I am talking about the features that have been here forever.
I just started to hit the buttons off to the left and I realize I had never hit a few of them before. I have never archived any files. I have posted pictures twice but it took a few hours each time. I see there is some kind of photo manager over there. I hit that button and it showed every picture I had ever posted including my old profile pic. (Does anyone miss that as much as me?)
Even at this moment as I type this post I am looking at the buttons that I have never hit in making a post.
(Yes, I just used my first smiley). I don’t know what most of those other buttons are for. I do know the spell check button. I know the copy and paste button. I know the bold and underline button. But that is about it.
It got me thinking about xanga school and what xanga grade I was in. I think I am in xanga first grade. I have learned enough features to post. I don’t know most of the others. I don’t know how to add music. I know how to add a link but it takes me forever.
Based on your knowledge of xanga, what xanga grade do you think you are in?

I’d say probably around 10th grade. I don’t know coding as far as skins, but everything else I’m really good with.

i’m pretty new to xanga but i think i caught on pretty fast.. i’m probably somewhere in the 5th grade, superior to all the elementary people but still inferior to others that have been using xanga for a long time. Hey try if you guys can answer my trivia questions on my post!

I imagine I’m 9th or 10th grade. I just choose to be at a 6th grade level. I find music destracting, and most “skins” aren’t real attractive.
I think I’m a Xanga 10th Grader (or above) I make (or edit) my own layouts.

11th or early 12th but not to the point where I want out, or am ready to specialize in something lol
maybe masters degree level. done skins, music, all that nonesense. found that most of it is annoying and just went back to a simple, user friendly format.

started xanga in 2003. made it to the 2nd grade when i discovered how to post pictures, but i have been held back since…
probalby somewhere right in the middle, i dont know like java or any html editing, so i cant be too advanced…

Well, in the sense of understanding how to use all the features and HTML, I suppose I’m in Xanga high school, though I don’t use all of the features. There’s plenty outside of that though that I’m far less familiar with, so that would drop me back a few grades. I’d have a hard time placing you in first grade, as you are familiar with those extras outside of the posting features.
Are you refering to the photo of Lewis? If you had another one prior, I missed it.

I think I’m pretty much finished with xanga school…i always read the site update box on the home page to see if there’s anything new…most of it I already know because of my frist xanga way back when.
I’d say 5th grade. I know quite a few things… but I still can’t post music, and I don’t know anything about archiving posts. And, yes, I do miss your old profile picture.

I’m a sophomore in Xanga Private Prep School, but I’m here on a scholarship. That means that I’ve done the best to fit in with the Premiums, but without paying for it. I also don’t like wearing the uniform and I’m vying for “Class Clown”.

TK-1…if that’s even a grade anymore…I never was in it though…I think it is for kids that are slowly developing their skills
Oh anywhere from 4th to 6th xangagrade. I can post, put up pictures and add music but HOW do they ever put on those little “ticker things” or the backgrounds or whatever. I try and sometimes I get to thinking I know what I’m doing and then I realize, I probably should still be in 3rd Xangagrade. *sighs*

I would guess that I’m probably somewhere along the lines of 10th-12th grade, the possibility of college, and graduate school notwithstanding, and eliminated. I know how to make use of just about every feature available to me now, including those recently added, with only a few exceptions. I don’t make have any use for most of them, however.

Mmm, 8th grade.
10th grade!! Used to be college level, but I took a looooong sabbaticcal (sp?) and got held back.
As far as doing things in my posts, probably freshman or sophomore year of high school. I was doing bold, underline, italics, underline, block quoting and posting pictures before Xanga made the easy editor available to us free loaders. I know my way around HTML. But I still haven’t tried to do stuff like custom layouts or popup messages. Though based on what I’ve seen, not many of the people who do use those things have much idea what they’re doing either. Most Xanga skins I see are ugly and pretty much unreadable.
As far as getting my site noticed and commented on, well, I’m still in early grade school. You’re WAAAAYYYYYYY ahead of me there.

RYC:: That is the strangest comment I’ve ever recieved from you. I am slightly disturbed, to be honest. I know that killing them wouldn’t solve anything. First of all, it’s murder. Secondly, death is too good for people like that (I would never kill anyone and I’m very much opposed to the death penalty). I’m not one for revenge. Besides, the best revenge is to live my life and be happy. Not to suddenly stoop to their level and go on some killing spree.
Did you write that comment anyway? It sounds very unlike you. I don’t know why you think you know what is best for me, seeing as you are not in my situation and are not a rape survivor yourself. Many of the comments you disagreed with were from people who understand where I am coming from, and actually know me as a person.
So yeah…a little bit disturbed over here.

ha, i’d say i’ve graduate xanga school. i’ve made xanga skins (premium) and layouts (without premium), i probably know how to do everything on xanga. maybe that’s just because i’m a nerd when it comes to the internet.

I guess I’d be somewhere in high school, maybe a sophomore or junior, because I understand how to use most of it (it being [X]HTML, CSS, things like that) from other experiences, but am not necessarily the Xanga expert.

wow dan. i am surprised that you aren’t very xanga savvy. you seem to be, with all the traffic you get.
i would say i am in xanga high school, ready to graduate. i can do music, links, pictures, and import stuff like cursors and counters. i think my record for posting a picture is under 1 minute. use a remote hosting site, upload the link to xanga, and bam! you done.
Probably grade 1 like you, but I don’t have premium so that doesn’t help. Anyways, as long as I have photobucket and a handy supply of topics, I can stay in elementary school forever…

I’d have to say I’ve got my xanga Masters degree. I know how to make layouts, and make use of all the features. It’s probably because I’ve grown up around a technological family. Even my grandparents are still computer savvy. It’s pretty cool, I’d have to say.

RYC: Yes, the pipes do keep me up sometimes. I’ve learned to live with it, though. Now the burglar alarms keep going off just a half hour before my alarm clock. I need that last half-hour of sleep!
Definitely low grade…I can’t figure out an easy way to put in lots of links other than hand-jamming a bunch of HTML. Pictures are way too difficult every time. I have no idea how this “xanga friends” thing works, and I CONSTANTLY see stuff that people do on their sites that is way cooler than what I can do and can’t figure it out.
I’ve even looked at moving the blog, but I can’t figure out the other sites any more easily?

I would have to say that I am in 6th Xanga grade. I can add pics and items into my entries using the HTML codes, post smileys on people’s comment section.
I can create my own skins and my side module. (premium helps me!) But, I barely made it into 6th xanga grade.

Probably middle school or early high school. I kinda make a point of exploring all the new features of whatever new “toy” I have, and my blog is one of those “toys” lol. It amazes me sometimes when someone will have no clue about something on here that’s relatively simple, I guess I assume everyone explores the different buttons like I do.
Probably Junior High/Middle School. It depends. I think this is kinda weird to ask because we don’t know what we haven’t seen yet.

Fourth grade, I guess. Depends on what the top grade is. If you’re talking college or postgrad tops, then fourth grade’s about right. I can do links, and I post pictures that I can find on the Internet, and I HAVE scanned a photo or two, but am not adept at it.
I wish I knew how to put those sidebars up that contain links to old blogs, and so forth. I could probably manage, if I wasn’t so lazy. But in that area, I’m flunking second grade.
On another tack, being a kiddie garten type isn’t all bad. Those who know how to do all the dipsy doodles with the fancy pointers and floating stars and all that other fluff, can be a great inconvenience to visitors who still use dial-up. I like it that my site is quick to load; many have thanked me for it.

DON’T add music…. it’s extremely annoying to the page viewer unless they can pause it. Many of us are listening to music while we surf and don’t want to hear conflicting songs, or have a song restart when we change pages.
