Nah, it will work out well with the cell phone cancer to my head.
yes, yes, yes
i think that every day after i leave work. “shoot, i’m gonna be buying glasses in the next month” squint, squint.
nope.
No. Depens on what your gawking at on the computer.
yup….damn xanga! LOL
Not really…
All things in moderation, right?
Nope…haven’t really thought about it..
nah my eyesite is already shot to hell and back:)
I am scared because my eye sight is soooo precious to me. Buuuut, I cant help it. I need hours of computer time everyday. lol. Unless I am on vacation I will rid my desire of internet surfing everyday.
Computers are the new tv’s
sorry, i can’t read your question. could you use a bigger font size?
Not really. I already have them, and they aren’t going away…only get worse.
No… I never think about that stuff. Lol.
Staring into the sun can cause eye problems too.
Probably, but as we discover new ways to kill ourselves, medicine will discover new ways to keep us alive.
no, but I was just thinking that xanga is an addiction
yeah, but im saving up for lasiks.
Yes
No. Neck problems maybe. But I do take a break once in a while.
basically if ur face and screen become one, u may have a problem. that really isnt the big issue tho. the big issue is typing(carpal tunnel), and not getting enough excersize because there are ever more thinsg to readplay on the internet and to buy.
I don’t think it will hurt your eyes, unless you do it for like 10 hours a day, every day, of every week, of every year, for your entire life. But I am pretty sure that I am never going to be like that, so I am not concerned one bit.
They used to say the same thing about reading books.
Too late. It has.
It probably has mine. In 5th grade all the sudden I went almost blind. And I spent a LOT of time staring at the computer…and the TV. If you get to close, it will hurt you!!
im not concered but i can tell its taking effect.
!~nicole~!
nope.
Of all the thing to worry about, this is nto even on the radar…is there a correlation between computer use and eye trouble?
Nah …
Definitely. When you sit in front of a monitor 10 hours a day like me.. it becomes a serious issue..
Not right now. I’m sure that I’ll be kicking myself the day I need inch-thick glasses though.
Ha, I think I’m living proof
nope
Both eye and neck problems. I get neckaches from being online too much-I use plenty of eye drops.
I couldn’t really read that. Let me get my glasses.
nope
Nope
no
can you use a bigger font… i can’t read it.
It doesn’t have to be close viewing to ruin your eyes. Staring at a computer screen for hours on end will cause eye strain, problems, what have you.
This is off topic, but I have just posted something on my Xanga site that needs some comments. Its about a high school soft ball player who is infringing on another’s right to post on whatever subject they please on their own Xanga site. I would greatly appreciate any input that anyone here has, just read my latest post and leave a comment. Thank you.
Back problems? Yes. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome? Yes. Eye damage? No, I don’t think that’s anything I need to fear.
nope not really i already have glasses
Yep, working an office job and being on a computer 40 hours a week already bothers my eyes and gives me migraines. Ugh.
Yes, but that doesn’t stop me unfortunately.
haha and maybe we’ll have square eyes, riight…
not really
i think it already has for my brother.
Hi Dan- how have you been?
Not really.
Use a bigger font, please. I can’t read your question.
I see things that are far away blurry, but I’m sure my beggining to see things that are closely boring is thanks to computers.
Nah…my eyes are messed up…
nope
It does! It’s happened to me and I’m only 14. It really depresses me, I’m only 14 and my eyes are screwed up. Playing a game like Halo or even just watching an action movie hurts my eyes greatly. Sometimes I will just grab my eyes so the light at school won’t get into my eyes. I advise everyone to never get too close to the moniter, and keep the lights on; never use the comp in the dark. Limit your video game intake, and go outside. And as for me, I need a few more hours of video games before finals…
not really, expecially with all the remedies available: glasses, contacts, lasik suregery. i already have eye problems. shoulda eaten more carrots i guess.
No. My mom’s more concerned about my eyes than I am. I’ve already got glasses, but that’s for things far away…
No, because there’s a thing called contacts.
I am not worried, but looking at the computer all day and close up does hurt the eyes.
Haha, no, my central nervous system is on its way down and out as it is! With a ticking time bomb of uncontrollable self-destruction in a larger sense than needing glasses or looking at computer screens, decisions based on personal safety are marginalized and I am actually more free to do what others might balk at, cause hey, it cant get any worse than it is now!
Like my xanga addiction. Its all good, I can stare at this little box all day, while on a cell phone, drinking too much and doing drugs not prescribed by an MD!
I…I…I can’t quite make out what you wrote, Dan. I think your fonts are blurry.
haha. im proof that it already has
A big YES… my eyes are already sore from this morning’s computer use.
i have really bad eye sight, danno. and it’s not gettin’ any better. i believe computers really bring yah down in that department.
of course im not…now can someone come over here and tell me what im saying “im not” too the question seems a little blurry
not really they have bigger computer monitors that can prevent squinting
Oh…yes yes…i do^^hahahaha…nice to hear from you Dan : ) How are you doing lately??Hope things are going well and have a Good day…may God bless.
I never thought about that. What do eye specialists say?
It doesn’t damage anything, but it does cause strain and fatigue which lead to migranes, blurred vision, and of course your brain rotting out of your skull. But don’t worry, the hand eye coordination that you will gain will endow you with other qualities that will allow you to “go blind.”
even though i am still young, i have already had cataract surgery on one eye, and will have to have cataract surgery w/in 6 months on the other eye… i have always been severly myopic as well
i don’t see how using a computer could make it any worse….
not really.. that is why there are glasses and contacts!
Nope
Could be
Nah, I’m not worried.
yes, I have to print everything
Yes my eyes are getting worse…oops

Nah, it will work out well with the cell phone cancer to my head.

YES!!!!! Heh heh.
I was told when I got glasses last Nov. that it was probably due to the amount of reading and computer work I do – hours a day, pretty much every day.
So . . . I don’t worry about it much, but it has affected mine!
Pretty much.
No. They say that reading, computers, T.V, or viedo games dont effect your eyesight. Its all in the genes. If you have good eyes in your family line then there is nothing to worry about.
LOL…NO!
RYC: AWWW…I KNOW, I JUST LOVE TONY SO MUCH & HE’S THE ONE THAT MAKES ME FEEL SAFE.
Possibly
Eye problems? Yes. In fact, neck problems too. The computer screen has to be level with vision or the neck gets busted like what I got.
Nope. I already wear glasses damm it.
Nah.
Haha, I totally agree with the first commenter. I think MAYBE there is a chance it would affect your eye site… But it’s right up there will cell phone cancer of the head
RYC: The boyfriend graduated; I graduate next year.
My eyes are perfect and I sat in close to the tv. all the time when I was a kid, so nah, bring on the glasses I love the computer.
Yes. I’m sure it does but I keep sitting here day after day adding my comments to Xanga.
Thought about it. Not worried though.
What did you write? I can’t see this very good.
Larry
I wasn’t till you asked….
I can happen but only if your on it for hours at a time almost contantly, come to think of it my eyes are beginning to hurt from being on here for about 3 hrs.
never thought about it, i got a long list of worries, but it just didn’t make the cut.
i’ve*
Actually, yes. I always had perfect eye vision as a kid. But then when I was 10 and went to the doctors, they wanted to try out a new way to test my eyes, using a lazor instead of just staring into a machine telling them what I see. So they use the lazor, and they were like, “that can’t be right. it’s saying you have awful eyesight, and it’s really hard to go from perfect vision to that in just a year, especially at your age.” So they sat me down in front of the machine, and I told them where all the little lines were, read all the letters, etc. And then I was told the bad news, the lazor machine was right, and that I all of a sudden had horrible eyesight! Seeing as I had started going on the Internet much more in the year before, it made sense. And my eyes are getting worse all of the time. If I wore glasses instead of contacts, I can assure you, they would be extremely thick.
sometimes.
In my case, it is too late.
*peers at screen* no, i don’t think so… kelly
u know i think it will lol
can you make the font size larger? i cant read what you said
my eyes are already bad so who really cares.
my computer does’t lie on a computer desk, so it’s really close to my eyes when i go on the computer. And I get glasses changed around twice a year. So yea, I guess i have to be alarmed
not really
its no worse than a tv..either way we are sitting in front of one or the other in my opinion…my eyesite already gives me migranes…lol…have a good one dan
And cell phones cause brain cancer. And good food is bad for your heart. And eggs… We’re all dieing and deteriorating. Why doesn’t the human species adapt eyes that are more tolerant of computer screens?
It’s gotta have some kind of effect, logically speaking. I think the fact that people don’t blink very much while watching TV or looking at the computer can cause dryness of the eyes, which can have medical consequences.
Get out there and gaze at the horizon sometimes, that’s my answer! Preferably from within a canoe or on a rocky pinnacle… somewhere inspiring anyway.
yes. I’m always worried about that.
Invevitably.
Absolutely not.
I think too much viewing of elderly men in spandex could definitely cause some harm. Compared to that, computers don’t really matter that much in this area.
not w/ a lcd monitor. Those old TV like RGB monitors, yes, because your eyes don’t focus properly.
it already has for me. because of my long computer time, i’ve gained an astigmatism. now i have glasses
not very…
i feel like it’s definitely affected me
I hope not.
No
look who’s talking…
jk
Yeah …. I swear I was seeing blinkies when I closed my eyes and tried to sleep last night!!!!
Do I acknowledge it? Yes. Am I concerned by it? Not really; I’m eternally cursed with eyeglasses anyway.
if we worried about every little thing that caused cancer or some other problem, we could never fully enjoy life.
Yes, but it won’t quite matter now. I have glasses and bad vision runs in my family. /Everyone/ in my family has glasses. Except my mom. She spent lots of money for a laser-eye surgery @_@.
Kind of. But I already have bad vision.
it’s why I wear glasses
No-but I do worry that faulty microwave ovens will…..we have one that is 20 years old….
No
Nah…it’s just like reading a book in usually very good lighting…probably better.
What did that say?? let me look closer…
nah, i have powerful eyes.
Yes.
(((((( GRANDMA HUGS ))))))
Lori
It is very harmful to one’s eyes.
Try to limit your computer time.
and I care how?
I’m blind already. legally, anyway. I have to use a certain kind of screen to be able to see what I’ve written or what others have written.
I know it does.
Personally, no, I’m a good two feet or more from my monitor most of the time.
All I know is that they used to warn us about sitting too close to the color TV due to “radiation”. Now we’re sitting much closer to our computer monitors, which are the size of the older color TV’s. But maybe they now have the “radiation” under control.
not particularily, but my vision is still 20/20 I believe so I haven’t really thought about it that much
it’s already happening. sadly, my eyes are my profession. gah!
Hi,
This site is awesome!!!! Is it like a chatroom or something??? Well I don’t know what it is but I know I like it! I am 13. Someone comment me!

They have the protective screen thing-ma-jiggies that help reduce the rays to your eyes. Real eye probs occur when you cram & overuse your eyes in dim lighting.
yeah, you should look away every 20 minutes or so.
Hadn’t given it much thought.
why are u so afrade about that because it doesent relly matter because it is your chose on how much time u are on the computer or anything else.
Too much of almost anything is bad for you. Moderation is key. Just like if you read too long you could damage your eyes.
is it so much different than television? closer? i cant think about it since my job is so much computer input. good point though.
yep
i worry more that the laptop on my laptop will cause sterility….
A little, yes. It gives me headaches.
No because it won’t cause eye problems.
hehe. it’s already done its damage. *points to half blind eyes*
nah not really
When I was a kid someone told me something else would make me go blind. Never happened. So I think I’m good with the computer monitor too.
no its a computer duh!
Brain problems actually.
well, i already have eye problems i wear contacts so yeah. But like alot of ppl that work on computers have eye proplems
Just remember to blink.
