  • Ratings System

I want a little help on this one.  Xanga announced that they were starting a new rating system the other day.  Now they have installed the system.

You are supposed to pick your own rating.  In addition you are supposed to pick what rating you are comfortable reading.  You can go to this site to set your rating and what rating you are comfortable reading:  Ratings

If you go to the page, this is what you will see:

  • PMS Part 2

PMS is an issue that has touched us all in one way or another.  I had three sisters so I gained some insight into the issue.  I asked a while ago in a post how many days a woman should be allowed to blame a bad mood on PMS.

If I remember correctly, a few women mentioned that some woman may play up the issue more than they needed too.  I want to deal with this issue at the risk of running across some lady this evening who is dealing with the effects of PMS.

Do women tend to exaggerate the impact of PMS?

  • 666 Part 2

I mentioned the idea of 666 in my last post.  When I was a kid, they showed a movie in church.  In the movie, the Christians were all raptured and taken to heaven.  All the others were left behind to deal with the consequences of their sin.

At one point in the movie they were told to take a mark on their forehead or the back of their hand.  If they wouldn’t, they were told the were going to be killed.

Pretend the government decided to make national ID cards to get a handle on immigration and identity theft.  You could purchase anything you want with the ID.  But the ID had to be put into the back of your hand.  If you won’t take the ID, they will send you to jail and could possibly execute you.

Would you take the national ID on the back of your hand?

  • 666

I was reading an article written by Heather Whipps for foxnews.com.  She was discussing the issue of how the number 666 is viewed.  When I was a kid, the number 666 freaked me out in the sense that I was taught that you didn’t want that number on the back of your hand or your forehead.  It was considered to be the mark of the beast.

In the article, they mention that when Ronald Reagan and his wife retired they moved into a home.  They had their address changed from the existing 666 to 668 St. Cloud Road.

Does the number “666″ freak you out?

  • Elections and American Idol

I was talking to my son this morning and he asked me a question.  He said, “Dad, did you know that more people voted for the winner of American Idol than voted for the President?”  I told him I had heard that bit of news.  I explained to him that there was a reason for the higher vote on American Idol.  I am not familiar with the voting but I believe you can vote more than once.  So I told him I thought that was a factor.  Then I explained to him that it was easier to vote on the phone than it is to go out and vote for the president.

I also suggested during the next election that maybe Simon, Paula, and Randy could moderate at the debates.  I would be sort of interested to see what Simon might ask or say.  People don’t like him but maybe it would mix up the debates a little.

Should we be concerned that more votes were cast on American Idol than for any presidential race?

  • Massage

The first time I went to get a massage, I really didn’t know what to expect.  I went in and met the lady who gave the massage.  I kept my underwear on even though they cover you with a sheet.  I thought it would be awkward to go naked.  The lady told me during the massage that most people go naked.  So the next time I went I asked the lady what I was supposed to do and she told me that most people go naked.  So I went ahead and did the massage with no clothes on.

If you were to get a massage, would you go naked or wear some clothing under the sheet?

  • Pat Robertson Part 3

Pat Robertson has been in the news here again recently.  He made a statement on his show “The 700 Club.”  He said, “If I heard the Lord right about 2006, the coasts of America will be lashed by storms.”  He went on to say “there well may be something as bad as a tsunami in the Pacific Northwest.”

That got me thinking about God and His messages to man.  We have in the Old Testament and New Testament that God spoke to man at times.  In fact, God spoke to certain people to communicate a message to everyone else.

If you were God and you were going to send a tsunami to the Pacific Northwest, who would you pick to communicate your message?

  • Open Season

I was watching a news program the other day where someone was expressing their concerns that Catholics were being picked on in the United States.  He made reference to The Da Vinci Code.  The guy on the program mentioned that a person had to be careful what they said about a Muslim or any other religion but it was open season on Catholics.

I also read an article by Neil Cavuto where he expressed some of the same concerns.  He asked the question:  “You wanna make a quick buck?”  Then he wrote, “Take a cheap shot at Jesus.”  He made reference to Dan Brown and also Madonna.  Madonna is seen hanging on a mock cross in her recent performance.  She has assured everyone that Jesus would not be unhappy with her program.

Has it become politically correct to be careful with every religion except Christianity?

  • Ratings

Xanga has announced a new ratings system.  This is their explanation of the system:

“We want to help protect users from content they don’t want to see, so we’re experimenting with a Ratings System. Here’s how it’d work: you’d be able to self-rate your own content, and cross-rate each others’. Then everyone would have a Xanga SafeBrowse setting, that lets you determine the level of content you’re comfortable with. Have you used Google Image Search? Access to the highest rated content is filtered out (and we’d also be adding age restrictions and verification as well).

We’ve modeled our ratings on the Movie and Video Games systems. I’m listing our five ratings below, along with the corresponding MPAA ratings:”

    MPAA XANGA
    general-audiences
    a
    parental-guid
    b
    parental-strongly c
    restricted
    d
    nc-17
    ex

Based on the above scale, what rating would you give your blog?

  • American Idol Part 3

Do you think Taylor Hicks just had his biggest moment or do you think he can be a big star?
