  • This post is only going to be up for a second but I need someone to explain to me how to post a song on my xanga.

Comments (157)

  • You link from a music site.

  • you right click the song and go to copy/shortcut, then look & feel, then paste it where it says “music”. Make sure the song works tho, some sites are crazy!!!

  • can’t help you :)

  • find a song you like, left click on the link, highlight the url, and then copy and past it into your song field/box thing in “Look and Feel.”

    =)

  • How… four instant comments. :-p

  • you get the song link from a music site, go into your look and feel, scroll down, and put the song link as your music html.

  • There aren’t many reliable music linking sites. I use a video liking site http://www.videocodezone.com. You just put the code in you “look and feel”.

  • Where do you get the songs from?

  • go to users in xanga and type in music

  • you can find various xanga sites that allow you to copy and paste the code onto you site

  • click on xanga, click on “users” type in the word music and those sites have music on their sites.

right click the song you want, click on copy short cut, then put that short cut that you just copied into your xanga look and feel where it says, MUSIC

  • Go into the Look and Feel section of your site, head down to the section called music, and put in the URL of the song.

  • actually, I think it says, “create short cut” when you want to copy the song. Then go to your look and feel and “paste” the song into your music space.

  • the second one doesnt work. but the first one does!

  • Dan,

Be careful w/ Music Galore, some of their downloads have viruses, so be careful!!!!

  • Argh.  Stay away, Dan, stay away!  Embedded music is the devil.

  • Ok.  I have a song copied but is it ok to copy the whole code including the video into my music thing.

  • They should make this easier.

  • go to “look and feel” scroll down to music and copy and paste a URL for whatever song you want.

  • Just copy the song for now.

  • But all it is showing is the video.

  • Can I copy the video link into my music box?

  • *** If you paste the url w/ the video and the song and it doesn’t work, just paste the “song part” into the music section.***

  • Yeah, but I don’t want the video.  I just want the song.

  • You just need the url (the link) into the look and feel section.

If you want to post a video…that’s another code.

You can always just put the code in your header…

  • Give it a try, but I don’t think that’s going to work, generally, you have to put the video in your header…

  • you can copy and paste it and then try the little (?) on the side and it will show you if it works or not…might be easier

  • Actually, the video isn’t going to work in your “music” section. If you want to post a video, you’ll need to put that in your header. OR your “interests” section.

  • I went to that first link that the girl mentioned and it just had the video.

  • You need to copy the line that tells you the name of the song link; it usally ends in  .mp3 or .wav you copy that into the “look and feel” section under “play music” you can then hit test to see if it plays.

To find the url for a particular piece of music, try google searching under “audio” Good Luck old boy.

  • So what site should I go to to find the song without the video?

  • Hey Dan, the easiest way when I do this is…

-I open up Windows Media Player and select media guide

-Then you search for your song

-IF it is found, just click one of the versions of it, then you right click the song title in the “Now Playing” section

-Copy and paste the URL onto your music section in Look and Feel

    OR…

Find the music video of it as you have, and you can put the video in a regular post

    I hope that helped

  • yes (about a video link)

  • Step by step for Music:

    Find the song you want

    Right click the song

    click on “copy shortcut”

Go to look and feel and paste it into your music section

    Steps for Video

    Right click the video code

    copy short cut for video

Go to header and paste it in there.

  • Hey this is the new site. Testing it out.

    http://www.xanga.com/irishmex_rebel/

    ~IM_R (formerly SF654)

  • To find the music w/out video:

    Click on xanga

    click on music

type in music then click search

you’ll find music codes at those sites.

  • Find the link on a music site and put it in the place in your profile that has a space for it

  • haha…this is kinda funny..there’s like 50 different answers

  • * sorry, I meant ,click on “users” after you click on xanga. Type in the word, “music” a page will pop up w/ sites which have music links, then follow the above instructions in the above comments.

  • shrek’s smart…bring you right to the source ;)

  • But I need to know what site to go too.

  • I am the world’s biggest idiot.

  • I can’t find the site I should go too.

  • What song? I can try to find the Code for you =D .. so that it works on Internet explorer and Mozilla Firefox. =)

  • I tried going to media player and I couldn’t understand it.

  • it depends on the song…different sites have different songs…I usually just google the song and then right click the song link and it will give you the url

  • To find the site, you have to click on xanga, then “users” once you’re on the “users” page, type in the word, “music” a page will pop up that has a list of sites, click on those sites and you’ll find music codes.

  • sorry right click and go to properties then it should bring it up…copy and paste it from there

  • Okay, here’s what you do.

Get the song you want.  Go to http://filelodge.bolt.com/index.php , register an account, and upload the song.

It’ll give you a URL for the song.  Paste that into the box that says “Music” in your Look & Feel.
    http://xs202.xs.to/xs202/06263/music.PNG

Or if you want mulitple songs on your xanga, use this….
    http://www.createblog.com/scripts/download.php?id=169

  • You “could” do what  stillxleftxwondering is saying, however it’s much easier to just use the codes here on xanga.

If you want, go ahead and try music galore, just be careful, well, be careful of any music downloads, some have viruses.

  • Dan, go here.

    Choose any song.
Right-click on the link of the song.
Copy link location or copy link shortcut.
Go to your look & feel.
Go to the section where you can add music to your xanga.
Paste the link location into that box.
Check to see if the music works.
    If not, choose another song.
If it works, preview it on your xanga.

    There, that should help!

  • Please don’t tell me you’re considering putting music on the Theologian’s Café… That’s kinda tacky.

  • Sure, I have/had music on my site, but that’s different. I think the professionalism of your site would be undermined if you attached music to it.

  • I just want to try it once.

  • The song I want is not on the xanga play list.

  • Mixedxup just gave you a site to go to. Go to that site and right click the song

    copy the short cut

paste into the music section of your look and feel, ta da, you have music!

  • ONCE you go PREMIUM…you’re xangafucked out of music…go figger

  • Laika_lost, we’re all about the tacky, honey!

  • that’s not true, you don’t get screwed out of music, I had premium for a year, and never lost the music…geees…

  • I’m tellin ya…the easiest way is just to google the song…I’m sure it will bring up like 80 sites

  • then all you gotta do is pick one and get the url

  • hmm they way i do it is i search on windows media player for the song, then i click on it. when it’s playing, i go to the “now playing” tab and right click on the song. go to properties and copy the url.

the on ur xanga look and feel, there’s a place for music. paste your link in there. you can test it or preview your profile. or just save it.

but you had trouble w/media player? if you want, i can try to find the song for you.

  • umm.. just listen to me umm.. first you go to woah__music’s xanga or youtube type in or search for an artist. there will be a link at the top of the page. or a website name. copy that. then put it in your look and feel under music. make sure to test it b/c sometimes it doesn’t work

  • So your wanting a video link?

Video = you copy the entire code and go to the very last box in your look and feel.  Paste the code inside the white box and save.

Single Song = Copy the link and go to your look and feel.  Theres a box that contains http:// delete the http:/ and paste your song code and save.

    Hope that helps!

  • your music has to be independently hosted online. paste the corresponding URL into the HTML box on your “look and feel” page where it says “music”

  • Go here: http://search.singingfish.com/sfw/home.jsp

Find the song/video you want. Get the url by right clicking and pressing “copy shortcut”

Then put it in your look and feel or in a playlist.

  • upload a song to something like blogupload.com, then copy and past the link into music in look and feel.

  • http://www.singingfish.com — i would recommend that site to find the url of your song. then you can look up the html online. just yahoo or something. or you can go on look and feel and just the link under the music section.

  • This is frustrating me.  This is like that time I posted my pictures.  It took me 6 hours.

  • The song I wanted is coming up at the fish site.

  • are you serious!! 6 hours…after about an hour i would have just found someone else around me that had a xanga and made them do it…you should do that…do you know of someone else that could help you thats actually there??

  • I’d ask Franksabunch how to get a permanent song rotator/dropdown list on your banner.  its cool.

  • Well, you could always just try to find your song on some webiste, but its easier to upload it to http://filelodge.bolt.com/index.php

  • I went to filelodge but I can’t figure out how to find the song on there.

  • First you need to register on Filelodge.  Then you go to “Upload,” and find the song you want to upload on your computer.

After it uploads to Filgelodge, it’ll give you a URL that you can paste into the Music box in your Look & Feel.

  • I paste my video codes in my entry sections.

You have to check the box that says “edit HTML”.

  • Sorry…you want songs…not videos. You`ll get it Dan.:)

  • music videos on http://www.videocure.com

find what you want, follow the directions, put the video at the top or bottom of your site

  • Don’t.
Nothing worse than something mixing with my music.

  • Ha.  I can’t make it work anyway.  I can only find the song on video.

  • My problem has been finding the song on something other than video code.

  • It depends on what do u want,

a song in ur background or a drop down menu. Than I can help.

  • I want a song playing in my background.

  • There are plenty of sites that will give you the MP3 links to whatever sons you are looking for. Find the “.mp3″ file and paste it into the music thing in your “Look and Feel”.

  • Don’t do it, music is an annoyance on blogs.

  • Try visitng my site and looking at my music box if you want to see what’s possible with MULTIPLE songs ^_^

  • umm.., give someone you trust your password and tell them the song you want. i could do it if you trust me enough.which you don’t.

  • Dan, i can help, but if you want it, let me know in a comment on my site so i know you’r epaying attention. I’m a master of helping people with music

  • I’m back now…again I cannot get onto myspace.  *SEETHES with RAGE* Sorry, I’d been on the phone…..I HATE the phone….*scowls*

Yah, you have to find the song somehwere online in order to get it to work…..you mentioned somewhere you found it at the “fish” place…..would that be “singingfish.com”?  I couldn’t….there.

    I can’t get in there to myspace…….so….hmmm….I’ll stop now….

go to google…..type in the song name with MP3 or WAV after it….try that…..because….just try it……when you find one….then let me know…..hmmmm….ask your minions if there is a way to copy a song from a myspace music site onto your xanga….a way to get a URL from a myspace player……to stick in the music area of your xanga…there might be, and that would make the whole thing a lot easier.

You can find video?  videos are fun!  *winks*

  • I can answer any questions you have, and even help you find the music you want

  • Hey, Jamie.  You know what song I am looking for.  Help me find the link.

  • wow Dan, I totally agree with you about you being an idiot. (no offense)

  • For a song in ur background go to ur look & feel area.

There should be a part where it says Music. In there you are going to post an mp3 url. You can get urls from places like singingfish.com, windowsmedia.com, and maybe even mp3shits.com. Lets say you use singing fish. At their website. Along the side make sure only mp3 is checked off. Than type in the song you are looking for. If the website has ur song, than right click on where it says in blue mp3#k and click copy shortcut. Than in the music section of look at feel paste the shortcut. I hope this helps

  • god lord dan, you post a brief post to ask for help and you TILL get over 100 comments lol~~

  • what song are you looking for. why don’t you give me your password. what’s the worst that an happen. anyway i hate background music. and your site is too professional for it

  • I have found the song.  My only hold up is that I can only find it on video.

  • Once more: I am a master of adding and putting in music, so if you want my help or information, just tell me at my site. I would be more than happy to help you, but I don’t knwo if you want it unelss oyu tell me ^_^

    http://www.xanga.com/sonicmega

  • I also can find and locate individual songs WITHOUT VIDEOS, Dan. ALL of the songs on my place are without Videos.

  • go to youtube.com
give me the name of the song and i will look it up for you then paste you the link

  • If you found the song u want and it’s only on video than, your going to have to put the video code on your site.

What’s the song you are looking for??

  • I don’t want to tell anyone the song in advance.  It is a surprise.

  • yah dan what song, your so secertive.

  • I need someone’s help that can IM who is above 18 years old.

  • come on how can i help you then

  • Find a music link, then plug it in to the “music” section of Look and Feel. Fairly straightforward.

  • I am still trying to find the son somewhere other than video.

  • Why only above 18?

    Ehh?

I could help, but I suppose not.

  • Hmmmmm…..I will try!  ha!  Na na na na na……I know the song and you all don’t.  Sorry dan…couldn’t resist.

  • Jamie.  Don’t tease the others.

  • *blushes and goes back to corner with crayons*  I’m sorry Dan!

I’m trying to look…..ask them dan….ask them if a song is available in myspace music if there is a way to get the URL and stick it here in the music section…..ask that sonic something or other…….they may know.

  • its not too hard. IM me on Whenindoubt3989 and I’m sure I could help you. I’m a programmer. I may be 17, but still, I make my living as a programmer.

  • I could help you…e-mail me at greenlime2008@hotmail.com………. I can find pretty much any song.

  • Jamie wants to know if there is a way to transfer myspace music to get the URL.  Tell you what, look at ilsurvive’s last comment.

  • I don’t know about myspace music, but you can search the code for the song in Yahoo.

  • You right click on the music and click on properties and there it should say the URL…i think…well that’s what happens with xanga music

  • ur making it way too hard. u dont wanna get it from myspace that just complicates things. if possible, find the song on xanga. xanga’s blogrings has tons of people with song codes. just search the blogrings by genre of music it is then go to that group. find the song on a personnel xanga site. get the URL and paste it into MUSIC on ur look and feel or claf page. hope it helps. cant wait to hear the song u choose!

  • still trying to figure this out…must be a hard song to find

  • It will be worth the wait though.

  • Oh….no one will have it on xanga.  If I am wrong I will pee in my own pool…. *winks*  so prove me wrong and find it here…….I just messaged the guy on myspace with it in his plaer and pleaded with him to give me a code to put it on xanga……when I right click there is NOTHING….no URL to it on there……so I don’t think it will work that way, but he had to have gotten it somewhere…..so I begged for his link.  I’ll let you know if he replies…….

  • How long is a second in Dan’s world?

  • *player*  OY!

  • yea right clicking won’t work…i just tried it…but yahoo search if you haven’t done it yet might work…and xanga search might also work…I’ve found some very rare songs by searching for them on Yahoo…so well…i hope you find what you need Dan.

  • I am going to find it so you have to pee in your pool.  I do have one question:  Is woman pee worse than man pee?

  • thats a random question

  • men are gross…thats my answer :) hahaha

  • On my blog I have a link to a music code site. You pick the song, copy the code into your look and feel, save your changes and voila! You have music.

(on my blog you’ll need to scroll to the bottom to find the link)

  • his main problem right now is finding the url on a website….

    am I right?

  • by the way…RYC: why do you think I shouldn’t cut my hair??

  • Man pee is much worse……because men are big, and hairy.  HA!  Everything girls do is so much cleaner and somehow cuter.

To missimae….up there ^^^^^^  Yes…..finding a URL to paste here on xanga.  Is there a way to get one off of a site such as itunes or limewire….I mean….if one has a song on their own computer is there a way to somehow get it in a foramt xanga accepts w/ on online hosted URL, etc???

  • http://www.lycos.com has full mp3 songs…i do believe it is illegal and only put songs from this site that i own.

  • And Try this site:

http://www.youtube.com it gives the URL of a music video and i’m not sure…but it might also work for just the song without the video

  • uhh…there should be…at least with itunes…the problem is I’m not really sure how to get it off of there in a way that xanga will take…sorry this one I’m not sure of.

  • 4 hours and 22 minutes, now

  • Dan,

Don’t expect me to believe you don’t know how to add site music….give me a break and quit yanking our chains!!

    Candy

  • Dan Dan Dan…… You need a Xanga lesson.

  • You need to find a link to the song you want.  Right click on the song title.  Go to properties and copy the URL address.  Paste the url address in your look and feel under the music section then press save changes.

  • There’s a good site http://www.videocure.com Pick your song and follow the on screen directions.

  • The whole peeing in the pool thing is from an earlier conversation on myspace.

Missimae, it certainly none of my business but women look better with long hair.

Yes, I really don’t know how to post a song but I think I can do it now if I find the right link to copy and paste.

  • Ha!!!!!!!   Jay has been on here and I just saw this, dan….more peeing in the pool, stuff…….

long hair….dan????  Where?  I’m reading it in the context of pool peeing……and then you speak of long hair…..Ummmmmm………not 70′s bush like stuff, right?  Muah ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!

    No link still?  : ( !!!!

  • This is how you play music on your Xanga.

You need to offer a pinch of incense to the elves that live inside your computer.  The incense makes them happy.  Unless elves are happy they will not sing.   However, depending on which songs your elves are best at singing, the entertainment value might be completely null.  Also, if your elves do not sing loudly, no one else will hear them singing.  Good luck.

  • I’m not exactly sure how to post a video. I do know that once you find the song you want on a site, right click on the song, go down to properties and click on that and it should bring up a box with the code in it. Highlight the entire code and copy and paste it into the music box on the Look and Feel section of your site. Make sure you go to the bottom of the screen and Save your changes before going back to your Xanga site. It is hard to find some song links that will work. I have found a few but normally it’s alot of newer “junk” type of music that I don’t care for. Good luck with it.

  • actually the best way to find music is to open up windows media player, click on guide, find a song you want, click it, go back to now playing. On the right side of the box you should see the name of the song, right click it, press properties, and the file URL should be located next to the word properties. Or you can search Webjay.org

another thing, If you find a xanga with “music codes” just right click and click “copy link location” and the URL will be copied to your clipboard

  • no video for music just copy the website name of the website site that is currently playing the song and paste it into the music box

  • This has to be the longest second in history.
