  • yes as long as they are not there for sex crimes!

  • Wow I was first must be my lucky day! : )

  • I think if they’re married they should be able to have visits from their wife!

  • I guess to their spouse is okay

  • Ooo, tough question. I think it all depends on the crime itself. Rapists? No. People who stole cable? Probably so.

  • No.  They are locked up for punishment, and part of that punishment is to be deprived of things they enjoy.

  • ?? i dunno. never really thought about it. I don’t plan on needing any visits in prison…since I don’t plan on being in there. :)

  • yes, because a drunk driver, though very stupid, might have a wife or a girlfriend, who’s willing to stick around for a year.

actually that was a stupid story type thing.

    but yes they should.

  • no. Prison is a punishment, they get food, shelter and medical care.

  • Only if they were married *before* they went to prison… And only if the spouse is not also incarcerated… And only if they earn it with good behavior just like any other visitation.

  • I think they should. There was a study that showed that conjugal visits lead to a decrease in sexual assault among the population.

  • I am often left to wonder if some people who answer your questions actually ruminate over their answers or just shoot from the hip. Scarey stuff!!!

  • Depends….murderers/rapists/assuault…ists, no.

But I think…like, small time crooks, why not.

  • People don’t understand that often the prison doesn’t really want to give conjugal visits, but they have reasons for doing it.

  • It depends on the crime some should

    I agree with this.

  • I think so. Sex tends to decrease agression, I think. I could be wrong. I often am. It would have to earned through good behavior, though.

  • as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone when they do..

hey dan, thinkin about topics to talk about. why don’t you ask everyone about their thoughts on the outbreak of anorexia among xangans and how it should be addressed? I think its a big problem and all the other girls who “support” one another in this goal of starvation just make it that much worse. Have you talked about this before?

    Here’s an example

I’m sure you know there are a ton more exactly like it.

  • No they should all just butt rape eachother!

  • I guess it depends on the crime they committed and whether or not it was their wife….

  • I think that if I’m not “getting any” on a regular basis, then a prisoner can survive without any.  I’ve done nothing wrong and I get to suffer, therefore since they have done something wrong… they should get to suffer too.

  • Only with a wife to whom they were married before the crime and imprisonment, and only by earning it with good behavior, and only for non-dangerous criminals.  Prison means alienation from society, after all.

  • Correct me if I am wrong, but hasn’t the government already judged their crime? Aren’t they serving a sentence as punishment for what they have done? So what does their conjugal visit have to do with anything? Are you up in arms because they are in prison having sex, or just having sex?

  • ew no butt raping yeah i think prisoners should be entitled to that

  • I think so.

  • yes

  • Maybe if they’re already married.  Otherwise no.

  • No special treatment.

  • No. Sex is a reward. If they were stupid enough to get locked up in the first place they don’t deserve it. Out prison system is lenient enough as it is. No wonder there are so many repeat offendors.

  • sure as long as they leave me alone, geesh go away Max, I am typing to Dan!!

  • I’m not sure, but maybe if they were married their spouses could have such visits.

  • Of course, they’re prisoners.

  • If they’re at a white-collar low-security prison. (hopefully you’ve seen office space).

But really, no. They’re there for punishment.

  • Depends on what they are in for

  • No reason not if they still have wives and girlfriends willing to visit

  • No. it’s just like time out in kindergarten…you don’t get candy when you have to stand in the corner.

  • and hopefully you’re not having sex in kindergarten as well.

  • If they are married, yes. If they are not, than no- otherwise a prison would become a brothel where gangs would send hoes in to get with their bros. And then the gangs in the prisons would work with their bros outide the prison to hook up hoes with the guys who do not have anybody to conjugate with. (Good old grammar at it’s finest, no doubt.) I could see a lucrative business developing for these gangsters to pimp out hoes through an in and out prison network if these conjugal visits were allowed.

  • By the way, do the spamers realize that you do not even control the fact that you get featured content?  People love your blog, how is that selfish?!  What are you supposed to do, delete all of your eprops and comments?

  • That should be determined on a case by case basis.

  • Yeah, but there should be exceptions and rules. Like, if they were married before the person went to prison, the record of the other person… etc etc. And it should depend on the crime committed, I almost went to prison for something I didn’t do (yeah, I know, they all say that…) and so I tend to think about the people in prison who didn’t do whatever they were charged with… :/

  • sex is a must. conjugal visits, i would imagine, would help cut down on jail rapes

  •   Nope it’s a punishment, deprived of their freedoms for their crimes.

  • yes as long as they have earned it ..

  • no not at all

  • I don’t think it would cut down on jail rapes.  At the core of it, people are in prision for their disreguard for the rights of others.  They are selfish, they are violent, and they don’t give a damn…they will violate each other because it is what they do.

  • i think if they were married prior to their incarceration they should be allowed conjugal visits. but this, as all ‘rewards’ are based on good behavior, etc…

  • Depends on the crime.

  • I would say that if they were married prior to the crime and depending on the violence of their crime, they should get such visits.  No need to punish their spouse for the convict’s own stupidity.

    KM.Mason

  • Your MOM should be able to have conjugal visits.

  • That’s a tough one. I dunno.

  • it depends on what they are there for and only if they are married, i think…

  • No. It is my belief that the prison systems are too luxorious, if you will. Most enjoy better lives inside the prison cell than they do in their original homes. It is not punishment if you fulfill everything they desire. If they want to have sex, they should have thought of that before they broke the law…

  • i think they should be allowed to have them, because there are too many prison rapes which leads to more violence and bad feelings within the prison themselves. with conjugal visits, they have less of a need to beat others up and rape them b/c they wont have this sexual urge all the time.

basically, i think itll end up being for the benefit of the weak in prison, and of the overall atmosphere….less violence=better chance of rehabilitation, etc etc

  • well, i have to admit i’ve never ever thought about this question. thanks for broadening my contemplations on this fine friday.

in other words, i have no opinion.

  • If they are married.

  • Yes, I mean I get horny after a week of being by myself, can you imagine being by yourself for way longer than that?

While they’ve done wrong, it doesn’t mean they shouldn’t get laid…

  • I am actually suprised at the number of people who said “yes”. Not that I believe everyone should agree with me… I just anticiapted a different ratio.

I know this is merely reiterating my point above but it struck me this way after I posted my comment… sex is a privilege, not a right, not an essential part of existence. One will not die from lack of sex. We are not discussing withdrawing an essiential item from a prisoner’s life such as food or water, nor discussing withdrawing somthing that pertains to human dignity such as using the bathroom in private, etc., but we are discussing withholding a PRIVILEGE which is my understanding of the definition of a punishment. At the point that they broke the law, the forfeited the right to all privileges. Its like being grounded as a teenager. If you are “grounded” but can watch TV, talk on the phone, have visitors, use the computer, participate in all  your daily acticities, and still see your boyfriend/girlfriend…. its not really much of a punishment, eh?

  • um… no clue?… weird questions lately…

  • prisoners should be stripped of their rights to whatever they think they have rights to.

  • I agree with my_daily_diatribe

  • I’m not sure. On the one hand, they are there to be punished – not to be pandered to. On the other hand, if they are allowed visitors and have wives, then maybe it’s not such a bad idea.

  • that’s a tough call. i think it would depend on what they are in for. but that’s kind of unfair to say “you can but you can’t.”
so for simplicity sake, i say no to all.

  • they are there because they did something bad and need to be punished, so i say NO because that would somwhat defeat the purpose of putting them in jail for the first place.

  • yeah or else we’ll just have a guarded asylum instead of an insitution with uncrazy ppl. if u dont socialize with someone you would go crazy and what would the gov do with all those crazy ppl?

  • yeah or else we’ll just have a guarded asylum instead of an insitution with uncrazy ppl. if u dont socialize with someone you would go crazy and what would the gov do with all those crazy ppl?

  • My dad works at the local prison, so I’ve heard enough about the privlages that these guys already have. It’s like their not even in prison anymore! All these Human Rights Activists have torn our jail systems down to a bare minimum! These guys are in there for doing horrible things to people, and we want to give them the right to screw? That’s bull!

  • I believe so. I don’t think it hurts anything.

  • if there married and have like kids yea…

    <^.^>

  • Fuck NO. They’re in prison because they broke the law, and they had their rights taken away. One of those rights (unfortunately so) is SEX.

Besides, that’s what your right hand or some dropped soap is for. Who says you need to leave prison for sex?

  • Hey Dan, I don’t know if you will be able to read this comment with all the spamming, but this is just an idea: Have you thought about maybe setting up private post? I mean not for forever. I know that might really affect your number of viewers, but at least the spammer wouldn’t have access. Also, you could ‘spam check’ those who want to be on your list so when you add people, the spammer won’t be included. It was just a though though. It might not be a great idea, but if you haven’t considered it already, it is an idea nonetheless.

  • only with each other

  • Heck yeah!  We all need sex to keep the fires burning.

  • With a spouse – yes

  • Prison is prison. We give them entirely to many benefits.  Did you prisoners get the very best of anything they request in the medical world.  I have seen it first hand – ridiculous! No they should not get to have conjugal visits.  They should have to think about what they are missing for the duration.

  • yes. being able to see thier spouses, lowers the chances of the family “breaking up”, which also lowers the chances of the prisoner doing time again.

  • Sure as long as the other person feels safe and will be protected should the criminal get out of hand.,

  • Man, I want conjugal visits and I’m not even in prison.

  • regardless, it shouldn’t be conditional on what their crime was- it should be all yes or all no.

  • nope… punishment

  • blaaaaaaaaah.

  • Hmmm depends on the crime.

  • no

  • No – they have each other!!!

  • So long as it’s with their spouse’s….and they should…otherwise they’d have other issues with each other…and that’d be pretty sick.

  • no.  they are supposed to be being punished.  they already have television – why should they be allowed to have sex too?

  • Have a GOOD weekend Dan

  • I can see both sides of the argument.  I just don’t really have an opinion.  I hate to give prisoners even more comfort than they already get.  Prisoners get to work out, watch cable, eat three squares a day, sit in ac, get a free college education, etc.  Just kinda feels weird to give so much to a population that has been taken out of society for violations against that society.

  • yeah.

  • I think prisons have their reasons for allowing this.  It might not be a matter of what inmates deserve as much as a means of quelling prison unrest.

  • Depends on the crime, I think.  It’s not like they’re going to let a rapist have visitors.  Or a murderer. Or any of those major crime people.

  • I guess I don’t have a good opinion on a Yes or a No

But I do think that it should NOT be situiational. You can’t have it be ‘Yes, but only if you did so and so’ or ‘Not if you were a rapist’ because that will make serious unrest among prisoners.

  • yes

  • It depends on the crime.

  • Depends on why they are in prision. Mostly…yes.

  • they are in prison for god’s sake. they do the crime, they pay the time. i don’t see why they need extra privaleges.
    -Kristin

  • Honestly I have never thought about it.

I am sure I would have mixed feelings on the subject in regard to child sex offenders and rapists.

  • nope.  prison is about separation from the good things of life.  it is punishment.

  • I think its ok as long as its a conditional privledge that depends on the inmate’s behavior and cooperation.  Something they can earn.

  • I’m sure all the christians would be for this so they don’t have TEH HOMOGAY SEX MORE OFTEN.

  • No.  Prison is a punishment; the whole point is that they sit there, confined, not having any fun, and consider what they’ve done.  That’s like giving a kid who’s been sent to his room a toy to play with.

  • Absolutely, positively not.  The loss of consortium should go hand-in-hand with the loss of their freedom.

  • I agree with building_a_mystery

  • Only if they earn it by good behavior.

  • I don’t know but if a conjugal visit me i’m gonna shoot it.

  • Why should it matter? Sex isn’t that important. Most of the time the prisoners they have holed up are there for good reason. And all I’d care about is that they don’t get out until they’ve fully served their time and are too old to do anything else but kick the bucket. But that’s just me and my two-cents…

  • no

  • Texas isn’t big on the idea.  I never got one with my ex and I sure could have used it.

Seems kind of inhuman to deny a basic need when they guy has paid so dearly for it.  Kidding.  I really mean when the other spouse (free one) has paid so dearly for it.  You put up with whatever crap they pulled to get themselves locked up and then can’t even enjoy any benefit from the relationship.  When she was in prison at least I knew where she was and that she likely wasn’t with another guy! *gallows humor*

  • > If they are not there for something sex or violence related, yea sure…. for those two matters, if the ‘victim’ is that desparate or dumb, nah! Maybe it’ll give both sides the chance to reevaluate the situation…. Who knows?

    Peace

  • As long as they are checked for drugs/weapons, first.

  • No.  Prison should be prison.  Make them think twice about doing it again.

Bring back the chain gain, I swear.  Make them wear pink underwear and pink uniforms (the men at least).  They are going to prison not on a vacation with bars.

  • well, if it keeps them from raping each other.

  • Okay, check this…you’ll trip. Believe this or not, you can research this yourself. So, Cable TV, Books, Congugal Visits, Weights and all the other “perks” that our “tax dollars are wasted on” is NOT intended to be a benefit to criminals but rather, TO HELP PROTECT THE LIVES OF COPS WORKING IN PRISON! So, after many years of studies/tests they found that violent attacks against the guards deminish significantly by adding these “perks”. Why? Well, when a person is locked in a 6 by 10 cell with nothing to entertain the mind…all one does is think of ingenious ways to escape or plan all sorts of mischievous behavior. So congugal visits I’m sure are an attempt (or study?) to see if something else -such as prison rape?-diminishes. Just a thought. Thanks for allowing me to throw in my two pesos.! Laters!

  • i mean, that they should just stick to each other….theyre CRIMINALS!!! wut about child molesters and rapeists??? hell no, they should be allowed ANYTHING!!
