  • Sin

One of the basic teachings of Christianity is that we are born into sin.

Do you believe we are born into sin?

  • Oh wow…i am first. everyone always vies for this spot and I got it today! :)

  • Yeah. No one’s perfect.

It’s not just Christianity; it’s philosophy.

  • no but its something we  cant help

  • Dan, what is up with the misinformation????? That was not Mel Gibson’s mug photo. He had on a Saddam Hussein style beard, for starters.

  • men are born with a sinful nature (and by men, i mean mankind)

  • Yep. Proof’s in the puddin. If we’re not, then where are all of those naturally righteous people who managed to avoid it all their lives?

  • only the best of us were.

  • Born in sin is a ridiculous thing…when I look at my newborn baby, innocent, perfect in every way…and then some moron tells me that if he dies he goes to hell because he hasn’t been “saved”…makes me want to make a new breathing hole in his or her fucking face! There is an age of accountability that is different for eveybody when the choices we make our because of decisions we conciously make. If you believe different that’s fine…just shut the fuck up around me with your shit!

  • Yes, and all of us sin as time goes on.

We are all sinners born into sins. Unless we are with the Lord, and we repent. You should be a Christian, it’s the best way to get to heaven!

  • no

  • yes

  • before kids even know what is sin they sin

  • I sure do. And I’m glad you dropped the hampster deal ;)

  • I could sit here and type a ridiculously long and accurate list of all the reasons why I don’t believe in athiest, but I’m just going to be a dumb lazy asshole and say this:

    Fuck Christianity.

  • This is one of the aspects of my religion that I have the hardest accepting. I have a hard time accepting the idea that a newborn child, who doesn’t even understand the concept of right or wrong, is already a sinner. I always thought sin was a choice that someone made, and though it is inevitable that eventually the child will choose to sin in some way, he or she has not done so yet.

  • No, but I got an early start.

  • *why I am an athiest. I can’t type.

  • No, we aren’t born into sin.

  • Here we go with religion again. No comment.

  • I believe that we are born with a sin nature, not into sin. Sin is the breaking of God’s commandments. A new born baby cannot do this.

  • What is absolutely disturbing about your Mel Gibson story is that NOT ONE of the 142 sheeple that commented on the article questioned you about that phony mug shot, and you have given no explanation of the lie.

  • We are born imperfect. If being imperfect means we will sin; then I suppose the answer is yes.

  • Yes.

Coleslaw_From_Hell made a valid point….Christianity Does say this, but it’s not just Christianity. look around.

    But based on Christianity….
If we weren’t, would there be a hell? (or a need for a heaven?)
and if there wasn’t a sinful nature, would we have a need for a savior?

  • Don’t have a clue.

  • I do believe we are all sinners.

When I posted about some of my strange quirks the other day, my mom found a picture of one that started at a very young age. If you have a sec, you should come look :)

  • Basically… but it isn’t just a Christian thing. It’s just the fact that no one is born perfect and people are capable of evil things.

  • No. Don’t believe in it.

  • yes…

  • Lol and some people seem a little too worked up about Gibson’s mug shot.

  • all fall short the glory of God.

  • I object to the concept of nobody being perfect and being born into sin being seen as the same.

I’ve always objected to the born into sin feature as being mediaeval in coercing a message of “follow or be damned.” By believing you’re born into sin, you become more malleable to accepting the idea that these guys in the pointy hats know how to save you from your initial condition. It institutes a bleak world and a “us vs. them” outlook against others who simply aren’t “able” to cope with being born with sin.
It’s the Christian version of the Jihad, a struggle within.

  • no; that is one of the worst of all religious ideas- we earn Hell by the sin of being born!

  • not another religious post…………………

btw Dan, so far my readers agree on my post. Of course…I don’t have hundreds of readers like yourself.

  • I think we’re born indifferent.

  • I am with enigmatic_intent expect the part that says “this is one of the aspects of my religion that I have the hardest accepting”  that part I dont’ agree with

This is one of the aspects of my religion that I have the hardest accepting. I have a hard time accepting the idea that a newborn child, who doesn’t even understand the concept of right or wrong, is already a sinner. I always thought sin was a choice that someone made, and though it is inevitable that eventually the child will choose to sin in some way, he or she has not done so yet.

  • no, doesn’t that take away from the whole, aborted fetuses are innocent murder victims argument?

  • No – I don’t believe in the whole bible as the truth thing. There is just too much contradiction within it and frankly, my father made the bible and christianity sour to me with his fundementalist BS. So there you have it, yet another answer with way more than you needed to know.

  • > If you bielieve in the bible, then YES, for we collectively are born of woman and as such are subject to said blesssing. Thanks for nada! It depends on your disposition…. On the scale of things, we all sin and hopefully learn from that experience…. But it’s so much fun unitl you put yoiur conscience on it….  :-/   Thinking too much, darn it all, Dan….. done it again.

    Peace, anyway

  • yes.  i do believe that all people, even infants, are born into sin, because we are a fallen people.

its not the individuals fault at birth – its the collective whole’s.  the individual can never grow up and live a sinless life unless He is God.  because an infant’s parents are sinful people, their child is born with sin.  it is a result of sin, and a result of choice.

  • I don’t believe that anyone is born into sin. Instead I believe we have all inherited the liability for sin. The Bible says that sin was imputed to us, not infused. If it had been infused (becoming one with us) than maybe I could contend for the argument that we are all born into sin. Having had sin imputed to us renders us liable, but not totally responsible for our hereditary weakness. The hereditary weakness that we inherited was mortality. It is this mortality that causes us to choose sin.

  • I BELIEVE IN KARMA AND REINCARNATION, SO YES BECAUSE WE ARE BORN WITH THE STAINS OF OUR PAST LIFE.  BUT I DON’T BELIEVE WE ARE BORN THAT WAY BECAUSE OF ADAM AND EVE GETTING THE BOOT.

  • Of course.

  • Definitely!

But God demonostrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.  Romans 5:8

  • No. Not in the way you’re talking about.

  • No one is born in sin.

    Sin is learned.

    But yes, there is sin.

  • *sigh*
    I don’t care.

  • I really question why people who say “f*** christianity” come here if that’s all they have to say. I mean, if you want ot question it and point out s ome negative points fine, but it defeats the purpose of even reading this site.

    Anyways

We are sinners because we weren’t born into perfection.

  • Yes, we are born into a sinful world. Of course we are innocent and sinless when born, but it don’t but a snap of a finger and then we’ve already sinned even without knowing it.

    Gracie

  • No. NO, no, NO! Sin is a figment of faith-based religion. ‘Nuff said.

  • No. I’m not a Christian.

  • I don’t think we are born into sin.  I think that, as we get older, we learn the difference between right and wrong.  More importantly, I think we begin to learn that everyone has their own definition of right and wrong so what is a sin to one person may be the norm for another.  This is setting aside law too.  I’m not talking about the legality of our actions.  I’m talking about our own perceptions of right and wrong.  No, I don’t think we’re born into sin.  I think we gradually map out sin for ourselves.

  • yeah

  • im gonna have to say yes on this.
i believe you dont have to teach
a young one how to be selfish,
greedy, and how to treat others
badly… all that is already there.

  • god is not real
    neither is sin

    -Fin-

  • heck yes i do. we sin because we are sinners.

  • I don’t even understand what that means.

  • Yes.  A child’s first word is that of rebellion…no

  • I don’t believe in sin.

  • yes.

i believe that we are born with the sin of adam and eve in the garden of eden.

but it is washed away in baptism.

  • I think that religion is fucking stupid. I mean, if you believe in something that you don’t even really know exists, then why doesn’t everybody believe in like, fairys and dwarves and wizards? Because you’ve never seen one, you say? Well, you’ve never seen god either, you fuck face. Well, my point proven.

                                                                      -KrIsTiN-

  • i think it’s absurd. why should we believe in a bible when it is written by men? why should we believe a God defined by other men? likewise, we all have a built in conscience so we need not rely on other’s definition of what is good/bad. sin is just a concept that the church concocted so that we may be reeled in by guilt.

  • without a doubt!

  • Yes I do. Why? Because the Bible says so. But it also makes logical sense besides that.

    -Jared

  • Yes, I certainly believe that.
    -Josh

  • So two observations:

    1) I find it interesting how some people become instantly angry (loved the “f*ck that sh*t” comment) when all you did was ask the question without making a stance. Touchy, touchy.

    2) Why are people angry that you talk about religion so much when your NAME is the THEOLOGAN’s Cafe? Helloooo? What did you expect to find here kids, discussions of pop stars?

Anyway, my answer is yes — And I think the nay sayers misunderstand. It’s not that babies are born guilty — all humans are born imperfect. Sure, they’re innocent now, but they’re born into a sinful nature that means at some point, if only years down the road, they will sin. Nowhere does it say babies go to hell. People should STOP inserting things that aren’t there and then get mad about it.

  • No. I’m a Muslim. We don’t believe that people are born in sin. We believe people are born without sin.

  • yes

  • We all are indeed born into sin. It’s not in our ability to go through life without sinning, it’s just that simple. We live in a world full of demons hell-bent on causing us to sin more so as to distract us from God, who is the only, I repeat *ONLY* One that can save us from an eternity in the Lake of Fire (Some people get confused, but Hell is only a holding tank. Read Revelation for more.) On top of the demons, our own flesh is corrupted, and we seek out sin on our own.

Yeah, we were born into it. You could say it was Adam and Eve’s fault. But the thing is, given their situation, any one of us would have done the same thing. You must remember, we suffer (and sometimes benefit) from the effects of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil; we can tell what is evil and what is not. Adam and Eve did not have that advantage. So basically, we’re screwed, unless God throws us a line. Which He did.

And for anyone who tries to tell me that people are inherently good… You tell me what you do behind closed doors when nobody’s looking, what goes on in the innermost recesses of your heart. At the bottom of our soul is not light, but utter, complete darkness, and that’s the way it will stay until we die and go into eternity… in one place or another.

  • Yes. All evidence points to this conclusion.

  • Yes, of course.

  • Yes, I believe we are born with a sin nature.

  • no cuz thts not one of the teaching of real christianity, no one is BORN into sin, but yes every1 commits sin……….. big difference

  • yes. even kids are self-fish, self-centered, and mean at times

  • Have you ever met somebody who doesn’t sin? Case closed.

  • Yes

  • if we weren’t, why would we need forgiveness? but i don’t think newborn babies will go to hell or anything like that, b/c even though we’re born into a reality of a sinful world, babies have not consciously sinned. i think God’s grace counts for a lot. it’s a little like the question of “if Jesus comes back right after i cussed because i hit my thumb with a hammer, will i go to heaven?” and even the old practice of not being baptized until right before you die b/c you’re afraid that you’ll sin otherwise. i think God’s grace will cover us, even though there is the unescapable reality that we are, in fact, sinners.

  • Uhm I really don’t understand the whole bible thing…my mom tried to explain it but I still don’t understand so no

  • ya ya ya

  • yes we are born into it. i think that babies are pure and innocent, but as soon as we begin to know right from wrong we start to sin. we cant help it, its in the nature of mankind to sin. thats why jesus died on the cross. a pure and holy sacrifice for all the sin we do and if we believe, repent, obey and follow, and are baptized we can be saved from sin. we must keep on asking for forgivness though, because after you are baptized you still sin and need to ask gods forgivness. just because you got baptized doesnt mean you can do whatever and you will be saved from then on.

that turned into kind of a sermon didnt it?

  • Hmph. And for those of you who say “It makes the world look bleak if it’s true” and “That makes humans look bad,” Look around you. Wars, rapes, murders, child molestations. “Oh, no, the human condition is just fine.” You’re gonna tell me that? No way. And for those of you who are saying things like “%#@# Christianity”, and “Here goes the religious talk again,” look at the title of the flippin site: The *THEOLOGIAN’S* Cafe. For those of you who weren’t educated in the finer points of English, which I am ashamed to say is about 70% of my generation, a Theologian is someone who studies God, Theo being a prefix pertaining to God. So if you’re gonna come to a site run by a man who studies God, don’t expect anything else, and don’t insult the God who this admirable man is trying to find out more about. It’s one of the most immature things you can ever do.

  • yep, because NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO, you always end up sinning in some stupid way. kdddd
    i hate religion -.-

  • I don’t think we are “born” into sin, as in it’s already happened but that we are born TO sin (meaning we will some day some way) and that is inevitable.  However, once we gain the knowledge of sins we can do our best as people to avoid commiting them.  yeah.  by the by, I think the abortions would cause the most outrage to the average person on xanga.  yeah.

    Thanks for making me think.

    kiya

  • ***
you can’t really sin as a child… like babies? would you count, for example, if a mother tells the baby “shhhh” and it keeps crying? would that be sinning? i don’t think so.

  • Nope

  • I don’t believe that Life is ever automatically completely pure without any “sinful” habits.  Life exists in conflict to continue existing, not perfectly holy by some randon standards.

  • No! My parents were married and my children were not born from a sin. Its called LOVE!

  • Yes. We are born into it and commit it throughout our lives.

  • that is nonsense, how can an innocent child be born with sin? sin is something you develope over time.

  • Reading the bible can answer alot of these kinds of questions for you. The answer you were looking for was yes.

  • On another note, I really think some of the people commenting on here are misinterperating the question. We are born into a world of sin. That doesnt mean we sin immediatly from conception.

  • Yes. Sin is natural, even for non-Christians. It’s an inevitable part of life that applies to EVERYONE.

  • Yep, we sure are. When Adam and Eve ate the apple, they did it in for us all. So yes, we are born into sin, but when Christ died for us so that we would have life and to save us from sin.

  • yes, because we live in a sinful world. So it is impossible not to sin.

  • I don’t think so.

  • Dan, that is not one of the basic teachings of Christianity. It is a basic teaching of Western Christianity. Eastern Orthodox Christians reject that idea, as are more and more mainline Protestant Churches. We are not born into sin; we are born into a fallen world where death exists because of our struggle against death we sin. But Christ has already won the victory over death and we don’t have to sin.

  • We do not inherit the sin of adam, or the guilt, we inherit the fallen world in which sin can thrive.

  • um yeah. that’s why everyone is like bad when they’re born… and there is so much hate in the world.

  • yea its called original sin

  • Nope, we’re born with a clean slate and judged for our own deeds, good and bad… not Adam’s. I’m pretty much on the Judeo side of “Judeo-Christian religion”.

  • No. I don’t believe anything is inherently good or bad; it’s how it’s used that makes it so.

  • born into sin?? no im w the person a few comments up, if a young child dies i believe he will go to heaven, bc he was not old enuf to realize the dif. between rite an wrong. there is a certain age where u learn that difference, that is when u are accountable. i cant say that we are not born into sin yes we are, but it is to a certain point that u become accountable for the sins.

  • most deffinitly, think about it, is there a day in your life when you didnt sin? luv ya and god bless

                                                                         lol

  • I think this belief is one of the fundamental problems with Western Christianity. That’s why we have such a bleak outlook on the world. People are not by nature evil, the world and circumstances makes them evil. God created people in his image (100% good), yes there was a fall and the image was distroted. But, unless God recreated us in something else’s image there must still be good in us.

  • yes.. we are all fallible by creation.

  • I am a sin!! :p

  • Dan, your question is leading. You should rephrase it. As it is written “Christians” will think that they have to believe that non-sense or they must not be a Christian.

  • Yep, result of the fall, just think about it are we born good? No our tendency is towards evil, just look at the world today, our natural tendency is to do evil, it’s alot easier to sin then to not sin.

  • No. Why would God do that? That just sound stupid.

  • I think we are borned into a world of sin but I don’t believe that our birth was a sin. (Didn’t the bible say something about the original sin? That’s why people get baptised right?)

  • Oh my God.

    Don’t get me started.

  • SORRY IF IM USING YOUR SITE AS A COMMERCIAL DAN, I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR THE OPINIONS OF SOME OF THE PEOPLE THAT POST HERE. SEE, I TOO HAVE POSTED SOME CONTORVERSIAL QUESTIONS THAT ARE IN DESPERATE NEED OF ASWERING SO IF YOU FOLKS COULD COME CHECK OUT MY SITE THAT WOULD BE GREAT!

  • I believe that we are born blameless and pure… and as we grow up… we sin.

    *A*

  • Yes we are born into Sin; there is this book called the Bible. You might want to check it out Dan. You might also want to read Romans within the Bible. You might learn something.

  • Of course, but who says sin is necessarily a bad thing.

  • Look around……. YES!!!!

    WHAT I BELIEVE:

The sole basis of our beliefs is the Bible,
    God’s infallible written Word,
the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments.
We believe that it was uniquely, verbally
and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit
and that it was written without error (inerrant)
    in the original manuscripts.
It is the supreme and final authority
in all matters on which it speaks.

    1. There is one true God, eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – each of whom possesses equally all the attributes of Deity and the characteristics of personality.

    2. Jesus Christ is God, the living Word, who became flesh through His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit and His virgin birth. Hence, He is perfect Deity and true humanity united in one person forever.

    3. He lived a sinless life and voluntarily atoned for the sins of men by dying on the cross as their substitute, thus satisfying divine justice and accomplishing salvation for all who trust in Him alone.

    4. He rose from the dead in the same body, though glorified, in which He lived and died.

    5. He ascended bodily into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God the Father, where He, the only mediator between God and man, continually makes intercession for His own.

    6. Man was originally created created in the image of God. He sinned by disobeying God; thus, he was alienated from his Creator. That historic fall brought all mankind under divine condemnation.

    7. Man’s nature is corrupted and he is thus totally unable to please God. Every man is in need of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

    8. The salvation of man is wholly a work of God’s free grace and is not the work, in whole or in part, of human works or goodness or religious ceremony. God imputes His righteousness to those who put their faith in Christ alone for their salvation, and thereby justified them in His sight.

    9. It is the privilege of all who are born again of the Spirit to be assured of their salvation from the very moment in which they trust Christ as their Savior. This assurance is not based upon any kind of human merit, but is produced by the witness of the Holy Spirit, who confirms in the believer the testimony of God in His written word.

    10. The Holy Spirit has come into the world to reveal and glorify Christ and to apply the saving work of Christ to men. He convicts and draws sinners to Christ, imparts new life to them, continually indwells them from the moment of spiritual birth and seals them until the day of redemption. His fullness, power and control are appropriated in the believer’s life by faith.

    11. Every believer is called to live so in the power of the indwelling Spirit that he will not fulfill the lust of the flesh but will bear fruit to the glory of God.

    12. Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church, His Body, which is composed of all men, living and dead, who have been joined to Him through saving faith.

    13. God admonishes His people to assemble together regularly for worship, for participation in ordinances, for edification through the Scriptures and for mutual encouragement.

    14. At physical death the believer enters immediately into eternal, conscious fellowship with the Lord and awaits the resurrection of his body to everlasting glory and blessing.

    15. At physical death the unbeliever enters immediately into eternal, conscious separation from the Lord and awaits the resurrection of his body to everlasting judgment and condemnation.

    16. Jesus Christ will come again to the earth – personally, visibly and bodily – to consummate history and the eternal plan of God.

    17. The Lord Jesus Christ commanded all believers to proclaim the Gospel throughout the world and to disciple men of every nation. The fulfillment of that Great Commission requires that all worldly and personal ambitions be subordinated to a total commitment to “Him who loved us and gave Himself for us.”

  • I believe mankind has a sinful nature but we are not born into sin.  In other words, we aren’t accountable for Adam’s transgression.  We are accountable for our own decisions that we make once we reach an accountable age.  Also, Jesus Christ, the son of God, died on the cross so that we can daily repent of our sins and sinful nature and be clean again.  I guess you aren’t a Christian if your personal and prayerful interpretation of the Bible is slightly differently than traditional Protestant/Catholic views???

  • We are born into sin.

  • I don’t believe that a baby can be a sinner before it knows what a sin is.

  • Yes, and once we are old enough to understand that, we are accountable for our sins.

  • A resounding NO! It’s so STUPID to think that using the equipment that GOD built on our bodies to keep the population going is a sin. Loose the fairytales, Christians, they are ABSURDLY RIDICULOUS

  • we are not born of sin, but born into a world of sin..and because we are born into a world of sin, we sin not knowing.. we know we are not born into sin, because christ was born into this world and did not sin

  • Thoughts flicker through a persons head, and those are themselves sin.  Children are capable of thought, want and need, and begin with no knowledge of right or wrong.  They are taught, however… sinning is unavoidable, as sin is in action and thought.  Humanity is born to sin, born into sin if you will, but we are forgiven, we have only to ask.  We can not avoid sinful thoughts or deeds, but we can be freed from them.

  • Yes

  • Yes, we are all born into a sin nature. I don’t think, however, that when a child dies that he/she goes to Hell unless that person has reached the age of accountability.

  • i believe we are born into innocence, and we are held accountable for sin as when we learn the difference between wrong and right

  • absolutely there is an inherent sin nature — there may well be an ‘accountability age’ as well but the sin is there from the beginning

Yes, because the Bible teaches it.  Also, my two year old niece does not need to be taught to hit, bite, lie, steal, or any of those things.  She does need to be taught to be nice, share, and do what is right.

  • yes i do believe that. and i know i was too.

  • Yes. Humans are inherantly sinful.

  • Ughh…No.
    Sin doesn’t exsist.
    Morals exsist.

  • I believe only evil grown ups go to hell.  All children go to heaven.  Pete.

  • I don’t believe we’re born sinful, I think we are born perfect and then we muck it up on our own. God doesn’t create us sinful

  • I believe that we are born into a world where sin is widely accepted and is a part of daily life, but I do not believe that you are a sinner from the moment you are born. I think babies are pure and free of sin.

  • heck no, i’d hate to believe that hopeless, pessimestic notion

we are born perfectly.. the more we live, the more we sin.

  • I think the concept of being born into sin is the most ridiculous concept of all Christianity. Therefore, no.

  • I think we were all born into not being perfect. I guess the rest depends on what you think is a ‘sin’.

  • Well, we sure aren’t perfect.

  • I dunno. But many people are born because of sin, and many are killed because of it too.

That is what we should really be worrying about…

  • yes because of original sin.

    Westminster’s Catechism:
    Q. 16. Did all mankind fall in Adam’s first transgression?
    A. The covenant being made with Adam,[40] not only for himself, but for his posterity; all mankind, descending from him by ordinary generation, sinned in him, and fell with him, in his first transgression.[41]

    Q. 17. Into what estate did the fall bring mankind?
    A. The fall brought mankind into an estate of sin and misery.[42]

    Q. 18. Wherein consists the sinfulness of that estate whereinto man fell?
    A. The sinfulness of that estate whereinto man fell, consists in the guilt of Adam’s first sin,[43] the want of original righteousness,[44] and the corruption of his whole nature,[45] which is commonly called original sin; together with all actual transgressions which proceed from it.[46]

  • someone up there said that children sin before they even know what they’re doing is a sin.  think of this though; even a few adults end up doing things they don’t believe are sins, but other people do…and then they aren’t considered a criminal anymore.  they are considered insane.

  • Yes we are all born of sin; but children are sinless because they have no concept of right and wrong

  • Born into sin … ?

    The hell?

Why not just KILL yourself then?

  • Yes – our parents

  • that is stupid being born into sin no one is born into sin you are free from sins when you are born. Minor sins can be forgiven

  • first off id like to say that Angelic_Knight is a smart man, this wuld be the THEOLOGIANS cafe and for those who are haters…theology is “The study of the nature of GOD and RELIGIOUS truth; rational inquiry into religious questions.”

    thank u dictionary.com

but back to the question. Yes, we are all born into sin. ROM 3:23

now that doesnt mean u baby is going to go to hell, so quit freaking out, it means that they are and will be capable of sin. but also that even when/if ur child decides to get saved they will continue to be a sinner. everyone is, nobody is perfect.

i cant make my point without going into a long rant about my beliefs so i’ll stop now and my answer is yes lol.

  • nope

    I’m not Christian, I’m Muslim

and I believe that each human being was created as a separate soul having absolutly nothing to do with previous souls

Sins depend on the individual…depending on what he or she commits…in his or her lifetime

Just because Adam and Eve ate the fruit doesn’t mean that his children have to carry that sin like an inheritence

People dont inherit sins, there fore they are born innocent

besides…I find it awkward to call a cute little new born baby a sinner…

    ~Mayisha

  • and as humans none of us are truely sinless…

unless you died right after you were born…

    cause no one’s perfect

but thats why we ask forgivness isn’t it?

  • but then again…SOMEBODY claims to be no one…

there fore no one is perfect…

but sadly for no one…no one is SOMEONE…so sorry little miss no one…ur someone too…

cause no one is someone…so there fore your not perfect…

    (sorry…I blame the chocolate icecream…)

    ~Mayisha

  • besides…in God’s just court… why would God hold against the children what their parents did? is that very fair?

  • ee…I’m probaly going to get booed for saying this…

I don’t believe that we are born into sin…I believe that as we grow older and in a way become currupted with what we hear from different sources, but how can we be born into sin? Is it for the sole reason that we as newborns haven’t known God or attended church?…I mean, I’ve read studies that say as a child grows older and can absorb and contain information-that the child may already feel comfortable attending church because ineutero, they have may feel familair hearing certain words or sounds from a religious temple.

I mean, how can we be born into sin if we know nothing (that we rememeber as we grow older) of good and evil…right or wrong?

  • someone up there mentioned minor sins…

minor sins?! gah, wut book have u been reading

A sin is a sin is a sin.  i cant find a good verse to explain it either and its stressing me out.

i dont mean to sound mean but there equally weighted lol. a lie, a murder…all the same. u can be forgiven regardless. at least from wut i was raised to believe.

mr.dan u shuld ask how many people believe in that. if they think all sins are equal in God’s eyes. im sure ud get some ugly remarks.

  • correction,

one basic teaching of calvinism is being born into sin.

  • No, I do not believe we were born into it…I believe in the clean slate.

  • While we, in our earliest forms aren’t sinning, we all do it eventually (I geuss Jesus was an exception if you believe).  You can’t have good without bad, and no body can be all good.

  • Yes born w/ sin b/c of Adam and Eve……BUT once you’re baptized (if u don’t know what that is…google it) THEN the sin is removed

  • “removed” was a bad choice of word……….”…once you’re baptized THEN the sin is forgiven”

  • Yes.  “Original Sin” is the theological term.  Yes, we are born into sin; however, Christ paid the penalty for original sin on the cross, so no one is condemned simply for being a descendent of sinful old Adam.  We are accountable for the sins we choose, but that still means everyone, because we all choose to sin.

  • I see us born with a somewhat neutral canvas on which life’s colors are painted, splashed, or smeared. I believe there’s a lot of bad in the world, a lot of selfishness in each of us; we are children who never grow up in many cases – throwing tantrums if we don’t get our way.

And much of it is the way we are taught from one generation to another.

  • That is quite possibly the single most fundemental difference between Islam and Christianity; I don’t believe we are innately evil.

  • P.S.  Baptism doesn’t save anybody.  Salvation is only by Christ and only through faith.  Baptism should be the first thing you go through after you are saved.  No works, just faith my friend.

  • I don’t believe in the Bible (how can we believe in something that men wrote that couldn’t be true, no man can sail on a boat for 40 days with two animals of each kind), so no.

  • Sure.

  • yeah… think about it… There isn’t a person on this Earth Christian, non-christian who hasn’t sinned.

    Pastors….

    Priests….

    Your mom…..seriously.

  • I think the idea of “born into sin” basically means that we aren’t perfect. We are born not being perfect, even an innocent newborn. The only one who WAS born perfect died on the cross for us. Which is what I feel being born into sin is. Of course, as a child grows up, that is when all the other sinning begins.

  • We have an inclination to do good, but we also have predatory instincts too.

But no, we can’t be blamed for something we have not done but have been born into. To do so is discrimination.

  • of course

  • definitely.

  • Yes. Many of our sins are inadvertant and we do them as an act of emulating our parental heroes and television stars. Some of the time a stray thought is a sin, many of us read just the New Testament and fail to realize how easy it is to sin according to the Old Testament laws. A good person who isn’t saved have as good as a shot into heaven as an unrepentant murderer.

  • You don’t know me or anything, but I’m very bored so I’m taking a survey: do you support abortion? I do believe in original sin.

  • yes, completely.

  • I don’t really know what “born into sin” means.

  • i dont know but i think at first we’re not cuz well what sins are newborn babies doing?

One of my older sisters died when she was born and only lived 3 days…she had a hole in her heart…so if she was born into sin then she went to hell?

i think not.she hadnt done nothing wrong yet and i dont believe she went to hell….

  • Yes. It is inevitable.

    [ariana]

  • Yes I belive since the fall of man all but Jesus were born into sin. Do you belive?

  • We are born into sin, but I also believe in the”age of accountability”. If you notice a small child, they will naturally act “evil”(lol) but they aren’t acountable for it;)

  • yes because every body sins and christ died forthose sins,to save us

  • Yes and it has a candy-like coating, so many stay in it.

  • that “age of accountability” thing – not really necessary if you read through Scripture and realize we were chosen from before birth – yes – oye – Predestination!  AHHHH…

Yes – born sinners – sinful nature – In Adam’s Fall and all that

  • Absolutely!

  • the Bible teaches that we are.  it’s inherited from the first man, Adam, who passed it on to each and every human… including infants.  some people think that infants are not sinful.  this is incorrect.  i read a comment above, and a mother was infuriated by persons who told her that her baby would go to hell if it wasn’t saved by infant baptism.   she should take comfort knowing that those who told her such mispoke.  this is not a Bible teaching.  yes, many professed christians say that those not saved go to hell.  this is, also, not a Bible teaching.  a child, and much more applicable to a baby, is not able to make a thorough and educated decision about professing faith, and no amount of supposed ‘holy water’ will place the baby under a saved condition.  this has been a ritual created by men.  nothing of it is supported by the Bible.  a saved condition is granted to those who profess faith and back that faith up through actions.  obviously, a baby and a child are incapable of such things. HOWEVER, their parents ARE capable.  and since God has entrusted all parents to teach their children about Him, it is the faith of the parents (or whomever takes care to raise that child) that covers the baby (until that baby is old enough to make its own decision).

therefore, the responsibility mainly lies on parents.  this is a sobering thought that reveals the heavy and serious responsibility of parents.  it is foolish for persons to think that a saved condition can simply be made by a sprinkling of water and a few signs and gestures.

when baptismal events are spoken of by the bible, no where does it indicate that babies were baptized.  in fact, the people baptized were young adults and mature adults who had heard the teachings of christ and made a conscientious decision to follow his way.  and the baptisms were FULL body immersions.  to go completely underneath the water and then to rise symbolized the person ‘dying’ to his or her former course of life, and ‘rising’ to a course of life that required the following of Jesus.  how in the world could a baby realize that?  it’s impossible.

  • Yes we’re born into sin, but we don’t and can’t commit a sin until we know right from wrong.

  • why does your profile keep getting featured?

  • no but its something we cant help
im not christian and i cant understand why we´d be born with sin…
inevitably we´ll all commit sin, because no one´s perfect…but i dont think we are born with

  • No way. I think it was another fault of some crotchety old men to say that. Same as us being condoned to beat our wives, or slaves, and even kill them, since they are property.

There is absolutely no way that a forgiving God would demand such ridiculousness.

  • babies are born into the natural world withs natural instinct.

if its man’s nature to sin…than who is that a reflection of? god? why is man damn to the bearer of the eternal sin when it was adam’s or/and eve’s fault in the first place? isn’t this just a fallacy of guilty by association?

  • Yes, the Old Testament was right.  We all are affected by the original eating of the apple of the Tree of Knowledge, causing us to fall from grace, and falling into sinning…even me. I believe everyone has good in them, however. God made us all unique, with many things that are good that another can find within a person.

  • yes but no, we were born inoccent and learned sin but at the same time you were born into sin bcuz ….idk i cant explain it but we were

  • I don’t believe in sin.

  • u mean like total hereditary depravity?? i dont believe in that. the child is not born sinful. they will eventually sin at some point in their life.. once they get a little older and they learn right from wrong.. unless they die before said time.

  • No of course not. Newborns are sinless.

  • No. I don’t see the reasoning behind that. Born to sin? Such dark thoughts. I believe we were born for goodness: to serve God and Jesus, be happy, and spread joy. We were born to love, not sin. We have the temptation to sin and the need to work for success, so that life is challenging, and we can both learn and grow. Of course earth is hard. It’s like the ultimately hard career, and Heaven is like the ultimately wonderful retirement. (I shall finish this metaphor-thingy on my site, sometime.)
