Ice Cream Trucks
I was reading a post by RaVnR and it made me think about ice cream trucks. She took a picture of these “kids” buying from an ice cream truck.
I have never felt comfortable with buying ice cream off the back of one of these trucks.
Would you feel comfortable buying ice cream off this truck?

I have never been comfortable with those trucks.
As long as the ice cream is wrapped…and it is daylight out. It’s really creepy when you hear the icecream truck song after dark.

that ice cream truck reminds me of the one in Grand Theft Auto. the police try to arrest you if you sell a certain amount haha

my mom never let me buy from those trucks when i was a kid…
so it’s kind of inrained in my mind that ice cream men in trucks are creepy…especially the old big vans made into ice cream trucks.

Doesn’t look bad to me, but I don’t buy ice cream from the trucks (or vans if your real special.) It’s over-priced and tastes like crap.

i used to buy ice cream from them but it was always with the parents watching and with oher children. I think the ice cream off the trucks is ok to buy, as long as you get the packaged items and not the open ones(if they even sell open anymore)

Yeah, one of my favorite summer memories is of the ice cream truck that would come to our riding school, and girls would run out dragging their mules, ponies, horses and donkies to get ice cream… It was great!

Yes indeed! An ice cream truck came down our street this summer. A few of my little brothers friends and I chased it until we couldn’t see it anymore. It never stopped.
The ice cream man always speeds down our street because the kids always water balloon him….so….No we don’t buy from him.

If I was feeling really nostalgic, I might, but it would be cheaper to buy it elsewhere. Not sure I’d want to let my (hypothetical) kids approach a truck by themselves.
Iunno, there are plenty of places to get ice cream nowadays like Haagen Diaz and Baskin Robins everywhere, so theres really no need to get ice cream from a questionable truck.

When I was a little girl the ice cream truck used to have a Dixie cup filled with malted ice cream called a “Cho-cho” ,you would roll it in your hands and then pop it out of the cup.It was on a stick,and it was so creamy and good……I never knew that “Cho-cho” was a bad word in Spanish and I was telling my spanish friend’s dad about the “cho-cho’s”, he started yelling for my friend to come enlighten me about Spanish terms……but they were so good.I love to hear the ice cream truck in the city!

Ice cream trucks are awesome. In Hungary during the summer, sometimes out in the countryside there’s a frozen food truck too.

People here complain of the music. The only ice cream truck I usually buy is the one by our school. They don’t go around the neighborhoods anymore. I hate it.

I don’t know. Funny you should ask this now though. As a kid I used to hear the truck going around, and my friend and I would go wait outside…and wait…and wait…for the past 16 years the ice cream truck has never come down my street, until last Thursday. Grr.

i’ve had icecream from an icecream truck before. it was pretty good and if you’re desperate (esp on a hot hot day), then you’d buy it! i walk home from school and on special occasions, i get icecream. it was good!

It’s convenient…why not? We have an ice cream truck come by my job in the city (where NO kids are present) sometimes…I never carry cash, so I can’t ever get anything. But it sure does make me want some!

in tainan, taiwan the garbage truck played a similar song to the ice cream truck. apparently the garbage truck picked up garbage at night, due to my lack of sleep.

OoOo it has been some time since I have seen an ice cream truck. They have become extinct out here in So. Cali neighborhood. I used to love the ice cream trucks when I was little. They were pretty then, played pretty music, had good ice cream, nice people.
It was when an old pervert with a thick accent started selling cigarettes and soda outta the truck, that we had to stop.

I only buy ice cream from the trucks that I see either on my college campus or the park down the road (same truck most the time). Its risky the first time but after a couple times of seeing the same driver I decide if its safe or not.

We have one that comes through our neighborhood almost every day. What is wrong with buying ice cream from such a truck? They sell those prepackaged ice cream bars, fudgecicles, popsicles, etc. No big deal.
However, my son says that really the truck is probably driven by a pedophile who kidnaps kids and throws then in the back of the truck. My son has a very active imagination. lol

I drove a “Mister Softee” truck. The sanitation routine was very good, though I would have to judge by looking in to see if it looked clean.

We used to have ice cream trucks quite often in my neighborhood, and they often parked right in front of my house, but eventually the paranoia about kidnappings and the like made the city ban them. I don’t think there was even an incident in the area. Just paranoia.
But a couple months ago there was an ice cream truck down the street, so my dad bought us all something. I guess he was reported or discovered or something, because we haven’t seen a truck since.
But then, my city banned merry-go-rounds for years as well.

I don’t know now. We used to buy it occasionally, not often because it was expensive. When I was a little girl we used to “steal” ice slivers off the truck when the ice man came to the neighbors’ houses. We always had an electric refrigerator, but a lot of people didn’t. I renmember the bed of the truck was wood, so you had to watch out for splinters.

A couple of weeks ago, I was at my inlaws, and we heard the ice ceam truck and all the ADULTS went running for the truck. We got more excited than the kids did. And yes, we bought ice cream. I’ve never heard of ice cream trucks selling drugs before.

I have been buying from trucks since I was small,lol, and there is a guy I know of, who has been selling “ice cream” and “other things”>_> for more years than I can remember, Some people are taking their grand children to buy ice cream feom him(lol, he still rides through the hood at 2 am sometimes though, I think he sells the “other” then. I use to get a soda or Icecream when he came by on hot summer nights.

You probably won’t ever read this… But they don’t do background checks on those people that drive ice cream trucks. My “bad boy” guy that I dated a few years ago had a couple felonies and he drove an ice cream truck…and most of his co-workers had worse criminal records than him.

That’s a pretty sketchy looking ice cream truck. There’s one that parks near my school on warmer days (since there are a lotttt of schools in the area) and I trust it.
