aye, that we are. too many opinions even when no one wants to hear it.
Absolutely! And here I am….. what did you want my opinion on, again?
probably but we choose not to believe it
def. especially when judging people
Nope not at all….
Candy
Naaaaa.
YES bpeople judge alll the time even i judge all the time
as a sociery we say what ever we want. as individuals we run and hide.
nope
society*
shooot! i mean yes
darn it! i just don’t know when to hold my toungue
In general yes, weve been raised thinking our opinions on any and everything matter, and because of that we throw our opinions around even when we know absolutely nothing about a subject.
yes
Anyone in the top 25 here is for sure!!!
i would answer but i feel it is too soon
I think we as humans are too quick to speak in general… although our society is more prone to this weakness than some others, yes.
There’s my opinion.
ok…yes
take this post for example someone said something less than 2 min after you posted make your own conclusions
I am only guessing yes. But I feel there is nothing wrong with someones opinion.
How quick is that?
Um, er, hmmm, I just don’t know………….
well everyone that has already commented gave their opinion awfully quick.
yeah i think so
Probably…and you know what they say about opinions.
only on your site, cuz people want to be first.
yep.
yes haha this is an opinion too itsnt that crazy but i find nothing bad in it we’re all opininated thats good
Yes. Most people think their opinion counts for something just because they have one.
yes, because we are americans.
yes many people are too quick
we don’t ask enough questions first… and that’s my opinion!
everybody who commented is doing that right now
maybe
You know the comparison of opinions and a-holes. Everyone has one. Sometimes, they they go hand in hand.
we are indeed. its our self-centered side coming out- we give our opinions whenever we have them regardless of whether or not others want to hear them. We as a society need to learn to keep our opinions to ourselves a little bit more and find a happy medium between voicing them and giving them too often. But thats just my humble opinion.
Yes, I do think we’re entirely too quick to give our opinions before acquiring all the facts about a given…situation, or whatnot.
It depends on whether or not it would offend homeland security.
No far from it, but we are much to slow to investigate anything. nothing wrong with having them but it would be nice if we could back them up
Or are we as a society just to quick to take offense to people’s opinions?
I personally think so. But it depends. I agree with bclmj: “Take this post for example. Someone said something less than 2 minutes after you posted. Make your own conclusions.” =P
maybe
In some ways, yes, and in some ways no.
*miley
Yes, especially when someone raises their voice at us and shouts that we are predgious or phobic in some way against their cause.
My Opinion is that yes we’re too quick with opinions!! *G* Very cute ‘Til The Next
I need to think about that before I answer.
in my oppinion, lol, srry, yes we are.

Since you are a seeker of our opinions, I think giving our opinion in American society is actually highly encouraged. Freedom of speech, and all that. Are people too quick? I don’t know. Probably not. We all have opinions, and if asked to share, we will. Usually we will even if NOT asked. That’s okay by me. I like knowing what other people are thinking, even if it doesn’t line up with how I think. It’s very interesting to me.
It comes with free speach.
“If you hide your ignorance, noone will ever hit you and you’ll never learn”
If people weren’t so quick to say what they think, they’d never learn…
Yes. This blog is proof of that.
What do you mean by “as a society”? Individually, I’d say yes. As a society? Hmmm…
This site is evidence.
I’ll tell you later.
Of course that’s why this site is thriving.
Yes.
Obviously so :]
Uhm…probably. That whole First Amendment thing is the best.
Obviously. ~*RoXy*~
Besides, we as Americans think we’re the stuff.
You can never be too quick to give an opinion, but you can be too slow to revise an opinion.
Imagine a world, say 100 years from now.. when the nations have either ruined each other, or we have all finally come together with common goals and morals.. then we wouldnt even have to worry about giving opinions too quickly.. But for today, absolutely we do!!
I think so… Then again, this comment is proof, isn’t it?
I think we are too quick to give an unasked for opinion.
Who can say?
Not me… it took until past the 70th comment for me to give you mine.
Nah, they’re a great thing, and I respect people who have them even if they’re different than mine because they actually stand up for their beliefs as opposed to neutral people.
I HAD ON SOME UGLY BIRKENSTOCKS AND WAS WALKING INTO A STORE WHEN A YOUNG WOMAN POINTED TO MY FEET AND LOUDLY SAID TO HER FRIEND “THOSE ARE SOME OBNOXIOUS SHOES”…I QUICKLY TOOK THEM OFF AND RAN AFTER HER AND SAID “THEN BY ALL MEANS YOU SHOULD HAVE THEM !”….SHE WAS VERY ANGRY AND SAID TO MIND MY OWN ——- BUISNESS!!! I’D SAY WE WERE BOTH OF AN OPINION AND EXPRESSED IT QUICKLY.I SHOULD HAVE JUST SAID “THANKS!”.
Nah.
Well, this blog is about opinions… Opinions of the powerful shape our culture nowadays.
Okay people we get the whole irony joke already…
Mmmm…No, not too many opinions, just not enough actions to back up opinions.
you know what, i am taking my answer back. we are too slow or too afraid to say our true opinion when it comes to important things. that is why your site is so incrediable because people are not afraid to go against what others are saying and write what they really feel.
Kinda. I think its mostly an individual thing rather than as a society.
YES! NO WAIT NO….AH I CHANGE MY MIND TOO MUCH….I SHOULD REALLY SIT DOWN AND THINK ABOUT THIS.
If we have the right to say our opinions, why not use it?
Are you asking my opinion on that?
no, opinions come and go, bc we are never the same people one day to the next
not if we know what we’re talking about.
It’s taken three hours to give 84 opinions. That’s kinda slow for us.
We are too quick to give UNINFORMED opinions.
I don’t know, let me think about it….
Since I had to think a bit more than usual before answering this question, I’d say yes, especially since my first impulse was ‘NO!’
Yes.
And by posting this comment, I prove my point.
Funny how that works.
idk yes and no
HAHAHA
oh and please visit my site it scary it exactly like urs!

Most Definately Yes!
Is this a rhetorical question?
ha!
Let me think about that for a long time. I’ll get back to you.
Dang, everyone already used that joke. I swear I didn’t see them do it.
Who. Really. Fucking. Cares.
I’ve heard it said, “Opinions are like armpits; everyone’s got a couple and they both stink.” Truly as a society we are an opinionated people, meaning we are quick to spout our relative ignorance about something. What we aren’t real quick to do is to provide real ideas that actually accomplish something.
i know i am
How can we not give our opinions? And give to whom? And so what? Your ridiculous questions often times only result in more bewilderment.
We must give our opinions. We must let our voices be heard or why do we exist?
Probably.
Its not too bad if it is just an innocent opinion about something. One of my pet peeves is how the media is constantly Polling the Public on issues they couldn’t possibly have enough information about to form an intelligent opinion. I think they do it to have a sensational topic to draw an audience. It functions like an extension of yellow journalism. (Its easy to answer how you’re going to vote on an issue, or the distance you will drive for the holidays, or if the economy or gas prices are effecting your behavior. Often we are asked for opinions on things that should be left for courts of law after hearing all the evidence. I think this is like trying someone in the media and could on occasion be very morally unethical, even if legal.
i would say yes, but then again i resisted the urge to say, “anyone who comments on this entry is giving an opinion and ultimately fulfilling what you wrote.”
oh shoot, i said it anyway. but that is just my opinion.
We like to shoot them off quickly just for the sake of showing them off.
how about we all just stand up and say, “this is what i think. for as much as i have seen, learned, heard, and experienced, this is what i think. stop going back and forth saying, ‘well, we shouldnt be too quick to say what we think’ but then go back and say, ‘dont be too quick to speak because you are probably uninformed.’ say what you think. how else do opinions and ideas spread unless they are voiced? how else does one become more educated about a topic except through listening to others and forming their own opinion? seriously people, stand for something or you will fall for anything.”
*there. soap-box done.*
*sorry. soap box back.*
And stop imitating Dan’s site. Seriously. how childish can we get? form your own original site and i might stop by. and if you just cant resist the urge to make another The(fill in the blank)Cafe, at least stop talking about Dan’s site on your copy-cat site. Make your own identity.
*okay, done for real this time*
Although we Americans generally do seem to give out opinion easily, I don’t think that’s a bad thing. It’s called freedom of speech, and I’m really glad we have it.
yes
We confuse irresponsible blathering with “freedom of speech.” That’s an opinon I’ve withheld expressing for a long time until now.
oh, the irony. blogs give such an immediate source of opinion sharing that it very nearly makes me laugh to death that this question is up on your page.
I don’t have an opinion on this matter. But, I guess, that’s an opinion.
I”m not. I am an outspoken person and I love to give my popion. THE FIRST AMENDMANT ROCKS!
Uh…..let me think about that question.
Psh, yeah, I didn’t even have to think about that one to answer…:P
Eva.
Most people don’t have many real opinions. What they think are opinions are merely preferences.
What most of us are quick to give is not something we’ve thought through and have a reasoned conviction about, but merely something we thoughtlessly prefer.
Yes. In my opinion.
sadly yess. and I thought long and hard about that lol
Yes, but jerks are everywhere.
We do seem to talk out of our asses a lot…
(I love all the people who comment saying stuff like “who cares” or “this question is stupid” or “why are we talking about this?” If it’s really that stupid, why are they taking the time to comment?)
As quick as I am with an answer-yes!
Probably
Yes but on the wrong things, not the ones that matter.
no.
hi Dan I think so.
YAH! LIKE, FER SHER WEH DO! lol
Yes.
YOUR readers certainly are. And you do nothing to discourage the behavior.
People should be more easy going and think about what they are complaining about.
I get annoyed when people freak out over a nipple but not over violence… If you’re going to complain, don’t be a dumbass…Look at the issue, think before you speak, bite your damn tongue for one second and think rationally.
[I really hate sparking this whole fire but it's been on my mind so here goes:
I was talking to some pro-life people the other day and said: “well, it would be a lot easier for people to not have abortions if they didn’t get pregnant and learned in high school about how to prevent pregnancy, shit, I read a lot of teen-girl magazines and they have articles titled: “I didn’t think I could get pregnant my first time” and I get the response that it would encourage sex….
I don’t get it, if someone using a condom would prevent an abortion then what’s the harm, i know it’s not perfect but if you’re going to equate abortion with murder, i don’t think using a condom is as bad as murder…
(the end, i’m without sleep, forgive me if that was non-sensical)
No way!
(end of sarcasm)
Everyone thinks they are right. But we can’t all be right at the same time, now, can we?
depends on how much you care about the issue at hand. People are at the ready to give their opinion on things that they are passionate about.
We have been told since the 60′s we have to give our opinion….so yes we do…sometimes we should just keep our mouth shut….
No. We’ve just lost the art of tact as to when to offer it.
*Yawn* it’s so late/early. I should go to bed.
By the amount of comments on your sight, people obviously love giving their comments! Why do we all so desparately want to give our opinions?! I’ll be a fence sitter on this one. Sometimes yay, sometimes nay…
yes. everyone in society today forgets to analyze the sit.
Yes.
well, maybe if you would quit asking for our opinions, dan, then we wouldn’t be quite so quick to give them. that is just a thought, by the way, not an opinion.
If you aren’t asked for it, you don’t need to give it.
How quick is this?
I don’t know, to be honest.
I don’t really have all the facts, so it’s hard to say.
When was the last time you heard the preceding sentence on any kind of talk show?
Draw your own conclusions.
I have no opinion on this question.
A lot of times, yes. Myself included.
yeaaaaaaaa probly
xX-Nicole-Xx
Some people dont actually know the facts so yes.
Its Sunday morning and no new post so im first.
i will be quick and give my opinion and say yes.
Yes.
Just…simply, yes.
Too quick? Can that really be said about giving an opinion?
A knee-jerk reaction can sometimes be a dangerous thing, especially when it involves violence, but that isn’t the same as an opinion. At worst, an opinion can be unsolicited.
People state their opinions whenever they feel the urge. They yell them at the TV, they write letters to the editor of a newpaper, or they leave a comment on someone’s blog entry when they find the topic interesting.
But too quick? Just be glad we live in a country where simply stating an opinion isn’t a federal offence.
That “as a society” part has me puzzled, too. Is that to say that everyone of us is incapable of acting independently; that we all do exactly the same thing at the same time?
Yes.
See, this was quick.
Ironic that you should ask that question . . . .
Maybe, but we live in a free country where we can do that. Thank God. And if you don’t think this is a comparatively free country, go live somewhere else and find out, like a small African country.
All I can say… from one whom rarely adds comments… and gives an opinion….
Yes…. and no…. but regardless…. first impressions are always the ones I stand by..
of course it is! but in a way, I like it that way!!!
yes, and that is evident by the popularity of your site….but that’s just my opinion.
Yes.
See?
Yes.
Yes. Everyone has their own opinions and everything, and that’s all fine, but I feel like when you begin to kill people, that’s definetly crossed the line.
i think we are too quick to give our opionions and we are not so eager to listen to other peoples.
Morgen
definitely, especially in the last 10 years.
huh??? big words confuse me
I think it’s great to share your opinion openly. I think we go to far though, sometimes.
most definately
Ohhh, definatly. haha
yep
Yeppo
yes, i thought a whole 2 seconds before answering you! lol
It’s an opinion. WHO CARES?
It’s certainly an interesting question.
yes. Look at what freedom of speech did to us
Yes.
No. As a society, we’re too afraid to offend anybody with our opinions, so we keep the controversial ones to ourselves; however, it is often the controversial ones that matter the most.
you posted that at 8;47. the first comment was at 8:49. so, fromthat, yes, our society is too quick Kelly
About some things yes…but then, sometimes there are things maybe we should have an opinion about…but no one says anything:S
Hmm I think I’ll have to chew that one over s’more before responding.
probably yeah
If I give my opinion too quickly, it is only because I want to save lives. Please convert to Islam IMMEDIATELY.
Yes.
Congrats on having this entry featured. ^.^
People too often withhold their personal opinion and give the opinion they think people want to hear.
yes and no. it depends on how they mean for us to take their opinion, in a good or bad way.
that may not make sense, but it does to me…
Yes, look there 178 coments on this
i watched this thing on tv when i was a kid it was very true at least at that moment moments change and so does out perception of how everything works. giggle arn’t i just hel-arius so, it was talking about how people think they are more important, more intelligent, and right about so many things, when we just arn’t. we have high expectations. but we can never meet them, so we just fake it.
i think society in general is very quick to give our opinion. however, there is nothing wrong with this if you have a good amount of information about the subject. the problem comes when too many people give opinions on things that they have little or no information about. if people would just hold off and gather a little more information, they wouldn’t come off sounding ignorant so often.
never
to me, yes.
people give their opinion too quickly because, well, it’s their opinion, so it HAS to be right, but honestly, your opinion isn’t always right. people also speak before they think and end up putting their foot in their mouth, but that’s just my opinion as well…
too quick to give, and too late to regret.
hmmm…. let me think about that… yes.
I think so….but i guess it depends
Yes, but I include myself in that.
Yes but the problem to that is our opinions make no diff to anyone accept our selfs. NOONE cares what my opinion is on this subject yet i still give it for self satisfaction and if anybody think its for any other reason they are just BSing themselfs.

A lot of times, yes. Myself included.

WHO CARES?
It’s certainly an interesting question.
yes. Look at what freedom of speech did to us
Yes.
No. As a society, we’re too afraid to offend anybody with our opinions, so we keep the controversial ones to ourselves; however, it is often the controversial ones that matter the most.
you posted that at 8;47. the first comment was at 8:49. so, fromthat, yes, our society is too quick

Kelly
About some things yes…but then, sometimes there are things maybe we should have an opinion about…but no one says anything:S
Hmm I think I’ll have to chew that one over s’more before responding.

probably yeah
If I give my opinion too quickly, it is only because I want to save lives. Please convert to Islam IMMEDIATELY.
Yes.
Congrats on having this entry featured. ^.^
People too often withhold their personal opinion and give the opinion they think people want to hear.
yes and no. it depends on how they mean for us to take their opinion, in a good or bad way.
that may not make sense, but it does to me…
Yes, look there 178 coments on this
i watched this thing on tv when i was a kid
it was very true
at least at that moment
moments change and so does out perception of how everything works.
giggle
arn’t i just hel-arius
so, it was talking about how people think they are more important, more intelligent, and right about so many things, when we just arn’t.
we have high expectations.
but we can never meet them, so we just fake it.
i think society in general is very quick to give our opinion. however, there is nothing wrong with this if you have a good amount of information about the subject. the problem comes when too many people give opinions on things that they have little or no information about. if people would just hold off and gather a little more information, they wouldn’t come off sounding ignorant so often.
never
to me, yes.
people give their opinion too quickly because, well, it’s their opinion, so it HAS to be right, but honestly, your opinion isn’t always right. people also speak before they think and end up putting their foot in their mouth, but that’s just my opinion as well…
too quick to give, and too late to regret.
hmmm…. let me think about that… yes.
Ummm…
nope

That`s a hell of a question for you to ask, Dan.

I can’t give my opinion on this. Need more time.
Yes, and unfortunately most people don’t know what they’re talking about, so their opinion isn’t worth much.
Since when has there been a time limit on how fast you can give your opinion?

i agree with SmileManager but i still think we do so it’s a yes
definately
