  • No, but I might get hit in the head

  • There are messages but not devil messages.

  • How can you play it back wards?

  • who listens to heavy metal for the lyrics anyhow?

  • No. Probably secret messages in it yes, but not anything evil.

  • backwards? no but forwards some of it does

  • depends on the band

  • Only Christian metal. Because if you play songs about God backwards then they become songs about the devil. It’s in the bible. Page 496.

  • Haha, thats rediculous, there are no messages or anything. Its just music, plain and simple. Do you think if you play Bob Marley backwards it has toker messages in it?

    Eva.

  • uuuhhh no .. not unless the writers intended it to . . . geez that’d be a lot of work . . .

  • Maybe not backwards…..

  • any form of rock backwards sounds weird and echoy….I tried it with my guitar and computer… lol

  • sure ..

its kind of cool to listen to hear sometimes too

  • Stairway to heaven doesn’t have a satanic message

  • to listen to ****

    no hear .. sorry

  • Dude, everything has satanic messages if you play it backwards.

    Even this comment.

  • some of the songs have intentional messages (check the wikipedia entry… it’s rather funny) But most metal doesn’t

  • RYC: They have both – the chairs in the midst of the mall and a separate place.

  • Maybe…but you have to be some bored, no life havin’,  son of a bitch to waste your time on that shit finding out!

  • No. As a matter of fact I don’t know how you’d play it backwards.

  • Most of it you can hear just find if it you simply play it forward.  If you play country music backwards, than everyone’s life works out just fine.  If you play Wagner backwards, you’ll hear Brunhild say, “Hitler is gay,” in Swahili.

  • who listens to music backwards?

  • My daughter says yes, because there is a website that does that.  I would never even consider trying or doing any of that.

  •    Yes, some of them, but not most.

  • I’d laugh my butt off if it did.

    -Guru on the Hill

  • Yeah, just like Abbey Road did.  (Oh, I forgot. I don’t think you’re my age yet…)

  • Haha that would be so cool. But really, who has so much time on their hands as to put satanic messages in their music? They just wanna make music!

  • I’m sure there’s some song somewhere that works if you do that.  But I hardly think a category (or even an artist), can work like that.  I just don’t buy it.

  • play anything backwards, and it does Haha

  • I don’t believe in that. I think it’s the power of suggestion.

  • Seems like half of them have Satanic messages when you play them forward.  No need for subtlety these days.  Some albums do have backmasking, but I don’t think the brain can interpret it.  I’m more concerned about the straight forward messages.

    mihssimmihssimdaedsinaigoloehteht…

  • No.

Nor does Bob Marly music have druggy messages.
Nor does country music say “I got my horse back” etc etc.

No. Though, sometimes it has Satanic messages when played forward.

  • some bands intentionally put backwards messages. others are just coincidental.

    http://jeffmilner.com/backmasking.htm
    http://www.backmaskonline.com/mp3.html

  • No, i would say there is more satanic messages when played forward than backward.

  • yes, but only if you listen closely…not for real, its just a fun thing,.

I’ve heard backwards messages in a song from mary poppins!!

  • No. Judas Priest says that if they did that, it would just say “Buy our records.”

  • on the first site i put ^^^ listen to Empty Spaces, Nature Trail to Hell, and Fire on High. those are intentional. not heavy metal, but whatver.

  • What do people not do during the day that gives them the time to play their music backwards?

  • no they dont make records to play it backwards anymore

  • depnding on the band. Like corn puts satanic messages in their music.

douche…have u ever listened to korn

  • And if you, for any reason, play music backwards. You might deserve it,

  • Noo… never tried, anyhow

    <33 Kimmy

  • Nah, but I don’t listen to it frontwards.

  • “on mu” <- that’s “um no” backwards!

  • I know for a fact that some songs have hidden backwards messages.

  • HA HA HA!!!  well, I’m sure with a vivid imagination anyone could hear what they want unless the band purposefully placed a satanic message.

  • Well, if they’re taking the time to put it backwards, they’re wasting their time. Nobody can understand them anyway, so they might as well just put them forward.

  • I thought only Streisand and the dixie hicks did that anyway!

  • yeah depends on the band if they do that and sometimes its just a conensidence ((sp??))

  • Wow, cool Soultender. Which Wagner song? Anyways, metal is cool. It used to be something pure and holy, but the devil took it away and used it for baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaadddd. Christian Metal is taking back what Satan took away from us. :P Don’t even try to argue with that. You will so get pwned by God.

  • Nope and Paul McCartney is still alive. People will come up with anything just to get attention.

  • “who listens to heavy metal for the lyrics anyhow?
    Posted 8/25/2006 at 7:33 PM by everybody_do_thebender”
who in their right mind would listen to heavy metal

  • Try it.

I agree with Sweety421, whose numbers, when transmuted through a complex, Biblical algorithm involving pi and imaginary numbers and revelation, turn out to equal 666. I was shocked too.

  • Psh, no. It says some pretty cool stuff when played backwards! So much fun :D

  • metal musicians are probably so messed up they wouldn’t know how to.

  • Well, it often does when you play it forwards….

  • I have heard a song supposedly played backward and then the captions on the tv said it was a swear word or some satanic message. I am not so worried about that though, who listens to it backwards? Now scream-o music is pure satan even going forward. But the hidden message is really in pop music in the Simpsons. Yvan Eht Nioj.

  • Sometimes.

  • i bet some death metal songs have backwards messages. you could easily slip a message in and nobody would know, because the music is so loud and fast.

  • If it does, then those people are geniuses.

  • oh yes. Only Satan could put up with listening to that sh*t. If you play it backwards it says “Don’t watch Passion of the Christ”!

  • I think maybe some bands, but I also think we shouldn’t give too much credit to the intelligence of most rock stars.

  • Well, now a days on cd’s and mp3s you can’t really listen to them backwards anywho..so I guess that my answer would have to be no.

  • depends on if people put them there

  • Yes, of course it does.  Let me tell you how many times we raised demons from a giant hole in somebody’s backyard because we played heavy metal albums backward.

Now that I’ve glanced at a few answers, I can tell how young some of your readers are.  LOL, how do you play music backwards.

  • Give me a break!!  For cryin’ out loud!  NO.

  • only in the case where it’s recorded with that purpose in mind. one could do the same with other forms of music.

  • That would be sweet, but I dont think so.

  • Thats a joke!

  • Whats the point to heavy metal music anyway? It’s just someone screaming your stomach pratically out of your throat. Hardly an art.

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahano

  • It never mattered much to me. Our church told us it was evil for that reason. I never believed it or cared cuz I didn’t listen to it backwards.

  • i would hope so…hell..maybe i should tell my brothers to do it…their band might sell more cds…

  • Maybe. RYC: yep if the Lebonease decide to bomb Jews in the US. that place is pretty much screwed I’d say.

  • no. But if you play Another one bites the dust, there is a message about smoking maryjawana.

  • Haha, hahaha, no.

And the rumor is a BRILLIANT way to sell more albums.

  • That’s what satan told me.

  • How can you play it backwards? Even if you could I don’t think it would.

  •  ok im DEEPLY insulted

i cant belive such a question..

keep heavy metal muzik out of your daily rambles

    im DEEPLY INSULTED

and NO it doenst have a satanic message

    dang thats stupid

if you play country muzik backwards does it make you want to eat dirt?!

  • i doubt it… idk.  some of it might, most of it doesn’t, im assuming

  • the devil owns your soul.

  • that makes me laugh.. i mean maybe, but i normally listen to my music forward.

  • no but I never tried

  • No matter how many times I’ve tried, I can’t get Black Sabbath or Type O Negative to say anything meaningful when played in reverse.

    So disappointing.

  • Heavy Metal forwards has satanic messages. ‘Is it polluting peoples minds?’ is the question.

And the answer is yes, yes of course.

  • No, gosh, Dan, that’s ridiculous. I know I know, people say it’s true, but, really, come on. No heavy metal artist could produce something that ingenius, for one.

  • haha thats a new one

  • Some bands have satanic messeges in the normal play… lol

I’ve never listened to music backwards.. I’m leaning toward no though

  • It has satanic messages when played forwards.

  • Hell no… it’s just coincidence. How about turning Jessica Simpson or any pop star’s songs backwards?  I’ll bet there’s a lot of satanic crap in it…

  • OK… INFORMATION!

its called “backwards masking” a term actually untrue to what it actually is, but, thats what its called

Back before we had Cds and mp3s, there was a time when everything was Vinyl.. Vinyls… if anyone knows how they are made, are actually grooved and manipulated pieces of material (paper, ceramic, early plastics, lauquer coated aluminum… there are many types of records)… Pretty much how it works is a record is made by cutting EXTREMELY precise grooves into the surface of the record (using a machine called a lathe).. To listen to the record, simply put the record on yer turntable, and the needle of it brushes along these grooves. The contact between the precise grooves and the needle causes a vibration, amplified through the record player, and out of the speakers as a song.. simple, yet complex

backwards masking is a technique, i’m almost certain, that the grooves are made just right so that only if the record is played backwards will the needle pick up on the indentations and thus get its vibration, and thefore having the sound come out for you to hear after being amplified..

backwards masking is a real thing. (obviously the Beatles) But, one of the first backwards masked records to become very popular was from the 1968 Frank Zappa record, We’re Only In Ti For The Money” In which he intentionally put stuff in your could only hear playing it backwards..

As far as satanic messages go, well, whatever.. its possible.. but only on vinyl (i think.. if i’m wrong about digital backwards masking existing i’m sure someone will point that out, but i’m almost positive its only possible on records..for obvious reasons).. the rest is most likely coincedence of syllables sounding like different things when being played backwards

    well, thsts about it…

  • only in IT for the money, figured i’d clarify that…

  • Hell no. But did YOU know that Mythbusters did a thing on plants and found that the plants fed heavy metal music day in and out grew better that the ones who were fed classical and just talked to and way better than the ones left in silence? That’s why my granddaughter is so smart. Her parents are metal heads, so she was listening for 9 monthes. : )

  • Depending on the band. I’ve heard Stairway to Heaven” has some message if you play it backwards. I think it’s really creative, but not the satanic part. The ability to write a song and have a message in it if you play it backwards. Genious!

  • no but now I’m gonna see!

  • Psh. No. I listen to heavy metal all the time (Christian metal, mind you… I never could develop a taste for angry screamers), and mainly for the lyrics. Bands like Demon Hunter, Haste the Day, Project 86, etc… Great stuff.

  • no…. you have to hear some of them backwards to see how stretched that is

  • hmmm… i dont know… i hope so that would be sooooo cool… but then again, why would we ever purposely listen to it backwards? who does that?!?!? it’s like listening to the teletubbies song backwards and having it play a satanic song. actually, that would just be cool and it would make total sense.

    cate

  • I don’t know I don’t listen to heavy metal but even if I did i don’t think it would

  • You don’t need to play the songs backwards. Some bands write Satanic lyrics. Depends on the genre of metal you’re talking about. I never thought of playing music backwards.

  • Aha calm yourself Leonisafaefreak I’m a fan of metal too. Dan here is just asking a simple question, not insulting the genre.

  • Only stairway to heaven.  nothing else.  ryc  thanks.

  • no, but some of it sounds like it really does.

  • not unless it’s meant to.

  • No. People hear what they want to hear in that.

  • No. That’s such a misconception. I know most music that is heavy metal-ish or something is like that, but not all of it. My parents think it is. They always say I am turning to the devil when I go to certain concerts and stuff and it’s really dumb.

  • no… forwards, some of it does… but thats the same with any music…

  • shotatandhit88: Digital backmasking exists.

  • *Rolls eyes* I’ve heard some of that shit. It’s pretty cool. Totally unintentional though. Like the Judas Priest “do it” thing, come on. Please. Do we believe that Pokemon is satanic as well because it says “Hail Satan” when played backwards?

  • No I love heavy metal.

  • Hahaha. No, but it’s something to think about I guess.

  • Heavy Metal music has lyrics?

  • Not in 99.9% of it, and even in that tiny fraction of songs that do have “satanic messages” played backwards (although I still haven’t heard any), it has no influence on human behavior whatsoever.

  • um, just play it forwards and you can hear plenty of satanic messages and other such rubbish.

  • I think the big fuss about this was not about the songs having satanic messages, but the fact that they were backwards, therefore being “subliminal” and influencing people to do things like kill themselves and others. Which of course, obviously, is complete BS.

  • RYC: I am, thanks…even though I can’t bring myself to break from your site -.- It’s just too damn good. Plus, I can’t be 100% Xanga-free for a week.

  • If you play Queen’s ‘Another one bites the dust’ backwards you get ‘its fun to smoke marijuana’ I thought that was funny

  • Heavy metal sucks. I doubt it though. I think if you played the song backwards it’d be people singing the lyrics backwards 0_O

One could just read the lyrics online and see if they spell anything out backwards.

  • It’s called backmasking. But the messages aren’t necessarily satanic.

  • OF COURSE NOT!!!…that only happens when you play RAP MUSIC backwards.

  • Some songs have messages. I wouldn’t say Satanic. Maybe really creepy. But not Satanic. I actually heard an example one. Creeeepyyyy. Don’t remember the name, though.

  • OH MY GOODNESS!!  I just tried it (we still have a turn table) and what I heard was, “MySpace is better than Xanga…MySpace is better than Xanga…”

It’s the Devil I tell you!  THE DEVIL!!

  • have u ever listened to stairway to heaven backwards?? cool stuff…

oh!! funny thing… tool is a pretty hard band… so on their new cd, if u play the song “intention” backwards it says “work hard, stay in school, listen to your mother, your father is right son”…. sometimes the messages aren’t always bad.

do u actually read every answer people put down?

  • No… but I saw on MythBusters if you play it for pea plants they grow better versus playing classical music.

    Take that Mozart!

  • No. o_O But I don’t listen to heavy metal.

  • No

  • nope. it just kicks ass :)

  • No. You’re thinking of classical music. Or “The Wheels on the Bus”.

  • Hell, if you play it forward

  • Never tried it…couldnt say.

  • stupid…does crappy generic pop and rap played backward emit satanic armageddon messages?

  • Just because something is recorded backwards doesn’t mean it’s satanic. Most of the messages like that on heavy metal albums are nonesense. Some practicing Satanists like to say Christian prayers backwards during rituals, but most Satanists don’t like to advertize and they certainly wouldn’t put it on an album. At worst, people that play in heavy metal bands are hedonists, not Satanists.

  • Yes, certain songs do have backmasking. Some are intentional, and some you have to really stretch your imagination to understand. Check this site out, it has some funny examples:

    http://jeffmilner.com/backmasking.htm

  • no people who do where the “devil’s” messages just have way to much time on there hands and probably needs to be committed

  • God help our kids!

  • and if you play country backwards it tells you to leave your wife and take the truck and the dog. =p

  • Yes, if they were produced that way up front. Odds of accidentally happening would be way too high.

  • Some of it I’ve heard one doesn’t have to play backwards to get the “messages”.  But I think not unless the artist does it on purpose.

  • heck no
    i mean,what the heck?

  • If you play the latest pop music backwards, it tells you to join the navy.

  • Yeah. I’ve been told that by someone who’s listened to it, but I definatly wouldn’t try it!

  • natas

  • Who the krunk would care to listen to music backwards…Oh but I just found out what the band KISS stands for…”Knights In Satan’s Service”….You probably already knew that, though…

  • Not all of it. Maybe a select few….and the messages don’t have to be satanic. They could be like the one on the pink floyd song…

  • Some songs you can listen to backward are Stairway to Heaven, The Wall, Kiss Kiss Kiss, Empty Spaces, Another One Bites the Dust, Hit Me Baby One More Time (yeah…britney spears), and whole bunch of other ones. Just go here.

    http://jeffmilner.com/backmasking.htm

  •  how the hell do you play it backwards?

  • and who has the time to figure that out?

  • Some songs might actually say something satanic, but not all… But you know, it could be any type of music saying something backwards, not just Heavy Metal.

  • Lol, if you play the pokemon theme song backwards it has a “satanic” message. Sometimes its on purpose, sometimes its accidental

  • According to Christians, something that sounds weird is either a message from God himself, or from Satan.

  • I”ve played it backwards. There are no messages.

  • how do you play it backwards?! dude, i wanna try it!

  • I think heavy metal played backwards is shit. You hear what you wanna hear. NO, it’s not.

  • umm how would you play it backwords & no

  • Funny. I did it when I was a kid, but not now. Too busy trying to see if the ice cubes in glasses of magazines used in advertising really have subliminal messages like Sex is hot!!

    :)

  • hah, no. I’ve played a lot of those songs backwards and the only messages I’ve heard are incoherent things like “paris, paper, into the blank! will you my paper?”

  • Man…if heavy metal really does have sublimonal messages in it..I’m screwed…dang……

  • Some bands do….but of course it’s just for fun. Like satanic bands/albums/songs  it’s not serious   its all shock value

(except for those scandanavian black metal bands)

  • it might but how would i know…i don’t listen to metal.

  • Hmmm…Maybe.
Some probably put it there on purpose if it’s even there. Some not.

  • Nah.
because that all death metal is devil music… surprisingly.

  • If you play some of it forwards you can get the same result.!

    Industrial music especially…

  • i think it might be i dont really know tho i dont listen to heavy metal

  • Funny, I heard the same thing about Barry Manilow.

  • no…

but honestly, like anyone would listen to their own music backwards and go, “goodness! satanic messages! we can’t play that!”

    xo

  • mhm well that led zepplin song played backwards has satin music.

    and britney spears.

    yessm

  • Hahah, no. Well, some people do it on purpose. But that’s cool.

  • Ever heard of a song called Mr. Crowley by Ozzy Osbourne?  You don’t even have to play it backwards!

    Mr Crowley

Mr. Crowley, what went on in your head
Mr. Crowley, did you talk with the dead
Your life style to me seemed so tragic
With the thrill of it all
You fooled all the people with magic
    You waited on Satan’s call
Mr. Charming, did you think you were pure
    Mr. Alarming, in nocturnal rapport
Uncovering things that were sacred manifest on this Earth
Conceived in the eye of a secret
    And they scattered the afterbirth
    (solo)
Mr. Crowley, won’t you ride my white horse
Mr. Crowley, it’s symbolic of course
Approaching a time that is classic
    I hear maidens call
Approaching a time that is drastic
Standing with their backs to the wall
    Was it polemically sent
l wanna know what you meant
    I wanna know
I wanna know what you meant

Sounds pretty satanic to me, wouldn’t you agree?  Not to mention some of it is foretelling of times to come.  The Lord says the last days will be terrible.  And the white horse he’s refering to is the first of four horses in the apocalypse, allegedly symbolyzing the anti-christ.  Anti- christ meaning both “Against” Christ or, through another translation, “Another” Christ.  Many occultists claim to be the next christ.  The true Anti-Christ will be no different.

And “Standing with their backs to the wall” seems to give the image of mass executions.  That’s how it was done back in the day.  And the Secret societies of the world are working on putting into play a plan called depopulation, first tested by the free-mason Joseph Stalin in Russia.  They say we have to maintain the human population at a much lower count than it is now, which means to “maintain the balence” they’ll have to execute most of the worlds population.

And what’s really sad is those secret societies that wanted a one world government under their control will get it some day…the only question is when.

  • Some music does. But seriously, who plays songs backwards these days, anyway? I doubt people manage to play music backwards and go “Oh no. This has a satanic message if it’s played backwards. I mustn’t listen to it ever again”.

LOL about the message in Britney Spears’ song. Well, it does make sense. Her loneliness is killing her, so she has to sleep with someone. 0_O

  • it makes no difference all sounds the same regardless.

  • Wait, I always thought metal as screaming and hollering to fast paced electric guitar. So, if you play it forwards, and it says, “AHHHHHHH” and backwards it’s “HHHHHHHA”, it’s Satanic? It just sounds like an odd laugh to me. ~xox, Ginny

  • Heavy Metal Music-possibly. it depends on the record company who has control of the music and tracks…and that machine.
    Heavy Metallic Music-heck no.

  • How do you listen to a CD backwards? My dad used to do that when he was about my age, but it’s pretty hard to spin a CD the way opposite the way it’s designed to go.

  • Hi there is no1 else that ever comes on so i just search it up basiclly i hope you aren’t mad? I just really wanna talk to someone, i just got on, and no1 has ever been on, your like the only one. so if you have a problam with it, can you please tell me when u have a chance?

  • i hope so, otherwise i’ve been wasting my time.

  • Only if a heavy metal band decides to make a backwards evil song.

  • most stupid idea ever.

  • it depends on the band that will play on….

  • Some metal has messages & some metal doesn’t. Those messages don’t have to be “satanic.”

  • where the hell did you hear that? that’s the most ridiculous thing i’ve ever heard.

  • If you play polka music backwards does it sound like you’re dancing to it?

  • not all of it, but mabye some……..not sure

  • WE ALL HEAR DIFFERENT THINGS IN SONGS. IT’S WHAT YOU WANT TO HEAR.

    I’M CATHING UP TONIGHT…………..LOL!

  • I haven’t tried it.
