  • N-Word

Senator George Allen has been accused of making racial slurs.  The accusations are that he used racial slurs back in the early 1970′s.  He is running for re-election against Democrat Jim Webb.  He is also seen as a potential candidate for the 2008 Presidential elections.

All this became an issue when Allen used the word “macaca” in referring to an individual of Indian descent.  The word is said to mean “a genus of monkeys.”  But in some cultures it is considered to be an ethnic slur.

Would it impact your vote if you knew a candidate for election had used the N-word back in the 1970′s?

  • Political Ads

A few atheist are complaining about an ad campaign that was filmed in a Baptist church.  Scott Norvell wrote an article about the issue for foxnews.com.  The ad was for Democratic candidate Harold Ford, Jr.  American Atheists feel that it violates the separation between church and state.

Is there anything wrong with a political candidate filming a political ad in a church?

  • Nude Art

A school from Frisco, Texas is not renewing their contract with an art teacher who had recently been reprimanded because of a trip to the art museum.  Apparently one of the students saw a nude sculpture.  The teacher, Sydney McGee, had been on administrative leave according to team4news.com.

Sydney McGee’s attorney mentioned that the teachers struggle started when she took the students on a field trip to the Dallas Museum of Art.  A parent is reported to have complained that a student saw nude art.

I imagine that they had to sign permission slips in order to go to the museum.  I would probably expect my child to see naked pictures at an Art Museum.

Would you be upset if your child saw a nude sculpture while he/she was in elementary school?

  • Heaven Vs. Hell

What do you think would make better blogging material, five minutes of heaven or five minutes of hell?

  • Heaven

Pretend for a moment that you have died.  You have gone to heaven.  You are standing at the gates of Heaven.  St. Peter asks you if you want to go in or go back to Earth for three more years.

Do you go into heaven or go back to Earth?

  • Fear Factor Part 3

If you were on Fear Factor, would you rather:

    # 1 Be buried alive in a coffin with bugs crawling over you

    # 2 Covered with bees

    # 3 Jump from a helicopter on a target

    # 4 Get attacked by a dog

Which challenge would be the easiest for you to perform?

  • Cockroach

Six Flags is having people eat cockroaches as part of a promotion for a Halloween theme.

    Photo: Madagascar hissing cockroach

The Six Flags park is located in Gurnee, Ill.  It is part of the park’s FrightFest promotion according to myway.com.  The cockroaches can be up to 3 inches long.

If a person eats a live Medagascar hissing cockroach, they will get unlimited line-jumping privileges.  PETA is upset by the promotion and is asking the park to stop the promotion.

Would you eat a cockroach in order to get unlimited line-jumping privileges at Six Flags?

  • Autism

I was talking to a friend the other day who told me of a problem she was having in her preschool with the issue of autism.

Our state currently has guidelines for children with autism.  A preschool is required to take a child with autism if they are a nonprofit organization.  A child with autism requires more attention than a typical student.  So a preschool has to pay more money to actually take care of a child with autism.  They may even have to schedule one worker to work with the child with autism.

The situation causes the daycare to have to come up with the money somehow.  They either have to pay the workers less or cut the stuff they buy for other children.

In other words, being forced to make special provisions for the child with autism causes something to be taken away from the other children or workers.  They cannot charge the parents extra money for watching their child with autism.

Who should have to absorb the cost of child care for a child with autism, the parent or the preschool?

  • Counting

One of the services I provide here on xanga is that I give everyone a place to come and work on their counting skills.

We will work on it together.

    Starting with 1.

    Then moving on to 2.

    3 . . .

  • Movie

Does it say anything about us that a movie called “Jackass Number Two” is the number one movie?
