But credit cards help boost your credit score if you use them regularly and pay them off quickly…
debit card.
But I’m still going with debit… My new policy is that if it can be avoided, never buy anything on credit that will depreciate faster than you can pay it off…
i wish i had either.
I have a check card which functions like a debit card but is technically a credit card.
Confusing, I know. Top 5, biotch.
Dammit, those few seconds count.
Or??? Why not both!!
I no longer use credit. It’s very…empowering.
Debit card. That way its money that you already have.

Credit cards are the devil. So are boys for that matter though.
i’m with icebox_cyclepath. anyway, why should i give a crap?
Debit, I don’t like to spend money I don’t have.
credit. i get % cash back with mine.
Check card.
Debit all the way. I use credit cards only when I know I can pay it off quickly, and I usually do, online, as soon as humanly possible (like within the next week or something).
Credit, unfortunately I don’t always have the money to pay for things the exact moment I need them. $500 in books a semester? And right after paying tuition? Yeah, I’m gonna need a few weeks on that one, lol.
Debit for small, everyday purchases, credit for expensive, specail occasion, or emergency purchases.
But I use cash and checks. Everyone takes those.
Credit cards are DUMB. REALLY REALLY DUMB. It’s modern day slavery. anyone who thinks that Cash back% is a deal is smoking crack. It’s all a scam to take more of your money.
queens—check out and see how much those books are going to cost you. Include the interest, finance charges, etc. But hey…it’s your money.

i dont have either, but i think i might like debit better……… but i havent used either yet, im cool with the cash……..
credit … if someone stole your number and charged a whole bunch of stuff, the charges would go under investigation … no cash leaves your acct.
debit … if someone stole your number and charged a whole bunch of stuff, your cash would be low and you wouldn’t get it back until everything is cleared.
Debit – it forces me to pay closer attention to how I’m spending my money.

Debt card or debit card?
Deffinately a debit card. That’s the only way to spend money you actually have!
I went to a Dave Ramsey conference a couple of months ago, and he said something I thought was funny:
“It’s easy to get 18% return on your money. It’s called a plastectomy.”

Credit but Debits make a lot more sense and are a lot better for managing the money you spend.
Here’s a novel Idea…how about SAVE for stuff then buy it? Don’t buy crap you can’t afford.
If you can pay it off AND you are confident that you can pay it off, credit card–they do have their perks, especially the signing bonus.
Otherwise, I prefer debit. Only if I can use them now; I have no money to spend.

Well, I have a “check” card and I have to choose Credit on the machine because my bank charges me for using debit. I’m also not 18, so I don’t know how it would work anyways.I’d still go for credit since I get charged for debit.
Debit, that way you only spend money you have.
my debit can be used as credit and doesn’t charge me a fee, lol – so debit!
Trick or treat…
Should be debit, but it isn’t. *sigh*
Debit. I love it. This way I do not have to worry about being in more debt than I need to be, and I know that I am spending my own money… not simply “borrowing” a quick loan. If you are a college kid, do not sign up for credit cards if you have a job and means like an allowance or something, get a debit card at your bank and stay out of debt. Knowing that you are 20,000 in the hole with college funds and another 500 with your credit card is no way to get into the real world.
Debit for groceries, credit for gas and large purchases.
Debit. Then you can’t spend more than what you have.
Debit. I love the exchange rates on both kinds, though!
Debit.
debitttttt duh.
Credit cards are better because if someone steals your info and uses it, you are only liable for something like $60. of the stolen sum. If they do the same with your debit card, you can get stuck for something like up to $800.
debit if at all possible. Save the credit for things like car emergency repairs, or surprise doctor visits…
credit.
Dammit-debit!!
debit. its real.
Definatly debit. You don’t go in debt.
debit!
You can pay me with either. I’m not choosy.
Cash is our first choice, but we do use our debit card as well. No more credit cards for us.
Normal is being broke. The average American family has something around 8 cards and about $8,000 – $10,000 in credit card debt!! I used to use credit cards for everything so that I could get the cash rewards, points, miles, whatever. What I’ve since learned is that I was spending 15 – 20% more since I wasn’t using cash (Something very psychological about plunking down 12, $20 bills to buy an ipod versus swiping a piece of plastic)
Did someone say the “B” word (Budget) ? By writing out a budget each and every month, my wife and I were recently able to purchase, with cash, a new heating system for our home ($2,500), a washer & dryer ($1,100), pay off all of our debts (except the house), pay off our car loan, and we are now saving towards our next car (which we will pay for with cash). For those who think you need a credit card for emergencies, you don’t need credit cards. Period. Emergencies happen – save up for them in advance in an emergency fund!
Dave Ramsey (http://www.daveramsey.com) has been very influential in helping us get back on track and we now tell our money what to do, rather than having it only ever say “goodbye” to us. We cut up our credit cards in February and are living debt free from here on out.
debit.
Debit, that means the money is deducted out instantly, credit eventually has to be paid for . So if people have money, pay cash. I will choose debit

The only exception is only using it if you can pay it off before the bill comes in the mail… and that isn’t even that good of an idea. You should only buy things… house car etc. if you have all the money to pay for them in whole! Live your wages… not over them with plastic like most of america does!

Credit cards are stupid unless you’re buying something you need immediately but will be able to pay for later. Some people are just irresponsible with them, though.
