  • PETA

PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) sent a letter to Anchorage First Free Methodist Church because of their use of animals in the church’s Nativity display.  The only problem is that the church doesn’t use animals in its nativity scene.  PETA fired off an email to the church mentioning “cruel treatment and danger” by having the animals play roles in the church’s nativity scene.  Here is the link:  Link

In the article I linked, PETA didn’t say sorry.  They just went on and on about how dangerous these scenes are to animals.  They even talked about animals that had been killed that had been used in these production.  (Still no word from PETA about the hamster and worm incident on my blog a few months ago).

Do you get the feeling that some of these people value animals more than they value people?

Comments (201)

  • Definitely.

  • possibly

  • Yes.

I’m kind of one of them.  If I were given a choice to kill a human or an animal, I’d kill the human…

I think I have less pity for humans because they’re not as helpless as animals.

  • There are many things that bother me about PETA, i don’t even think it’s about the animals anymore.

  • no i just think they believe in PETA like a religion.

  • Hamster and worm incident? I hasn’t even here then, fill me in someone

    Peta is whacked

  • no clue about the hamster/worm thing…

yeah, i think they do hold animals above humans…

  • PETA was formed before there was an equivalent organization for children.

    ‘Nuff said.

  • “I’d kill the human”

Just like I was saying nuts, whack jobs, not in right mind, one sandwich short of a picnic . . .

  • i think they feel humans can stamd up for themselves, whereas animals need a spokesperson.

  • I think that their passion for saving animals tends to overshadow the fact that they should be channeling that passion towards saving people.

  • Definitely, and I think it’s sick and twisted to feel that way.

  • i’m not sure i understand the question and its relevancy.

    PETA is strange though.

  • wacked

  • ugg, By the way, I’m a member of PETA  (People Eating Tasty Animals).

  • PETA has gone too far, now its just full of insane people who have lost sight of what really matters……

  • Yes, they do. I know this really isn’t Christian, but … they’re pathetic. Someone needs to straighten them out.

  • Most definitely.. ‘specially in Xanga.

  • Of course PETA upholds an animal’s life over a human’s. I think PETA needs to look at the facts before doing something stupid like that again. Tsk tsk PETA -waves a finger-

Oh, I did like the People Eat Tasty Animals.

Sorry, the whole, lets eat leaves and what nots didn’t work for me.

  • Funny, I always thought PETA stood for People for Eating Tasty Animals… I guess I’m not part of PETA now. I agree that people value animals more than they value people. I’d never kick a person… but I would kick a dog.

  • animals can’t defend themselves like humans can… humans have an understanding… animals do not.

in some ways I guess I could say I value animals more than people because they never have cruel intentions.. they don’t go out of their way to be evil… animals unlike humans don’t just hurt other animals for game. . however, it seems PETA is going a little far with that one. ha

  • I am thinking about starting my own organization, PETV, People for the Ethical Treatment of Vegitables!! We worry so much about Animals, what about those poor Carrots?!?!?! How are they going to be protected from the Spotted Gecko?!?!?!?!

  • It does seem that way.

  • i’m all for animal rights, but PETA scares the s*** out of me.

i don’t belive in hunting and stuff like that, but some of the things PETA fights for is crap. like having pets. they think its bad for the pets. its ONLY bad if there’s animal cruelty invovled, and most of the time, it isn’t.

anyways, i think if it came down to it, they’d kill off the human race just to save the animals.

  • I’m still trying to figure out how being in a nativity scene is harmful to the animals. Our old church had a nativity display every year, including live animals. The only ones who were miserable were the actors, who didn’t have fur to keep them warm like the animals did.

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahayes.

  • I say hell with all humans….. and animals.

  • “I guess I could say I value animals more than people because they never have cruel intentions..”

That is so comic, you never spent much time out of a city have you? You should see what a river otter does for fun as it stacks the slowly dying bodies of fish up in the shore, were it have no interest in eating them. And a raccoon in a in chicken coop leaves a bloody mess after killing everything it can. And maybe eating one bird. Even is a city you can see a cat torturing an animal to death. When it is not at all hungry.

Insanity is a real issue in America, and it is epidemic in the world of animal “rights”

  • Except Kittens. The world needs kittens.

  • Yes, I’d say so.

How does that differ though than those that kill the unborn?

  • PETA freaks can go join the LGBTA’s in hell

  • yeah, pretty much

  • It’s equal value.  Far better then the speciesm the majority of people have.

Yay for PETA.  (I’m in the vanguard society of PETA myself)

  • I don’t know that I would say that all PETA people care more about animals than people. I think the issue is that they care about them at least equally, which is why people who don’t value animals as much view them as crazy. I would be hard pressed to choose between killing an animal & killing a person in some ways b/c they are both just animals when it comes down to it.

  • I’m so freaking tired of People Eating Tasty Animals.  I’ve heard that a zillion and two times. . .for some reason whenever I go to the local airport somebody always makes this remark.

Not at other airports, but the midwest is so. . .midwest.

  • yes, and some for very good reason.

  • I have reported you to Peta. Sorry it had to be done.

  • Yes. It’s not a bad thing, though, but not really a good thing either.

  • PETA = People Eating Tasty Animals

  • absolutely, I also think they are hypocrites, you should write about the huge number of animals they kill every year.

  • Every day of my life.

  • Most of their arguments are bullshit

  • i’m afraid of people like that…

PETA should rename itself too “mankind for ethical animal treatment”… MEAT for short

  • Yeah, I didn’t climb to the top of the food chain to eat grass.

OH WAIT… I MIGHT GET AN ARGUMENT FROM THAT STATEMENT….

  • well yeah…but seeing as how there are so many jerks in the world, why not?

  • Ahh free speech, say something someone else is “offended” by and you’re instantly threatened with repurcussions, doesn’t America rock?

  • I wouldn’t know Dan. I have always had a peaceable nature since the day of my birth…okay, maybe not.

  • But Gunstarhero1988, you probably spend alot of time eating cows–which eat nothing but grass.  Drinking cows milk–from cows which eat nothing but grass.  Why not just. . .eat grass?

Even dogs eat grass.  Grind it up so the blades don’t. . .scratch your throat or what not.

  • You know they actually make some product for pets that’s just this?  Grass in a powdered form so the dogs don’t vomit after eating it.  Since dogs eat grass in part because of the NUTRITIONAL value.

  • Some people do. Some people view animals as innocent, and say that humans are the ones that destroyed the earth and therefore have no sympathy for them.

  • they definately do

  • animals are better than people. i’d rather live with something that pees on my couch than a person.

  • yeah i appreciate the awareness they arose on some matters… but really… those people are insane… and go way too far most of the time…

  • peta goes too far on ocassion, but i am all for the ethical treatment of animals. also, i am for the ethical treatment of humans. also, i am for the ethical treatment of vegetables and candy bars and kitchen tables. how about equality, my friends?

  • Wow 7 comments say they prefer dead people to animals. There must be a lot of money to be made in the mental heath field these day

  • also,

listen to you all, passing judgement on people that feel passionately about something. they are “insane,” are they? because they have an opinion and a passion and some ideas and a brain? get off your computers and get some emotions.

  • Yes, they absolutely value animal life over humans. Part of the reason behind that is b/c they really don’t believe that humans are above animals. He created Man different from the animals as humans are the only part of His creation created in His Image and likeness. He created told Adam to have dominion over the animals.  With that authority, however, comes responsibility as well.  PETA, unfortunately, takes it to an extreme.  Ok, actually beyond the extreme.

What would be interesting to find out is how many of these people believe that abortion isn’t murder or that old people can / should be euthanised when they become a “burden” to society.

In response to PacifismPlease… wow!  You’ve got to be kidding me, right?  Where do you get your information?  Dogs, by the way, only eat grass when they aren’t feeling well.  Otherwise, they prefer meat.  Yes, indeed, cows do eat grass.  But they also have four stomachs to digest it, and that’s all they do all day.  They eat grass, they swallow it… they regurgitate it and eat it again… and on and on.  They eat it so they will grow big and strong so that we can eat them!  And speciesism?  It’s simple… We ARE better than the animals.  It’s the way God set things up when He created us.

Yes, there are people who are cruel to animals.  I am not condoning that at all.  It is wrong and should not happen.  There are times when I am called upon by my wife to kill a spider.  I try to do it as quickly and painlessly as possible.  I don’t want the little guy to suffer, I just want him to die.  We, as humans, do have a responsibility to be ethical in all of our dealings.  But these PETA people go way overboard.

  • yeah, pretty much

most of the so called terrible things that happen to animals in nativity scenes can hapen to any animal anywhere….not becase they’re at a nativity scene

    maybe they all need shrinks…

  • PacifismPlease

Ummmmm, when you show me a Grass Steak that provides a sufficient amount of proteins….. I might decend.

Paige, No wonder all our love for mankind is diminishing…. People die… Heh, everyday thing…. People hurt… Happens everyday… WAIT… POOR ANIMAL…. NOOOOOO.

  • Sometimes… (Occasionally, I value animals lives over *certain* types of people to though…)

Doesn’t PETA have something better to do than complain about this though? There is plenty of unethical treatment of animals outside manger scenes that they could be trying to correct… OH well.

  • For sure, definitely, absolutely, positively right, yes.

  • there goes people calling PETA volunteers insane again.

at least they fight for what they think is right. if you think they are so insane, match their bravery and get out there and do something about it.

    yeah. that’s what i thought.

  • I’m glad that there are people out there concerned about protecting animals from cruelty, but at the same time I don’t think I’d ever associate associate with PETA though because they are too zealous.

  • Yes and it’s ridiculous. PETA is one of the most insane and senseless organizations that exists, I believe. Animals are here for the benefit of humans, we are not equals.

    -Jared

  • OMG i am a christian and a PETA activist. If you read the whole thing you would see it was just a tiny confusion when they said live nativity seen they thought animals as well. They sent them a letter thats all! Oh boo whoo! Your making a big deal over a little bitty thing! And thier is no such thing as a full carnivor everything has a little bit of vegitation in its diet!

  • well, the way i see it, PETA should value animals a lot because that’s what they’re all about, right? i mean…i’ve seen people kick animals and lock them into trunks and it’s totally unacceptable.

but on the other hand, PETA should apologize, not for fighting so fiercely for the ethical treatment of animals, but for jumping the gun and making a mistake.

  • Yes I pass judgment and it is very common for the mentally ill to be overly passionate.

But then maybe you guys that hate humans are not mentally ill. The word evil comes to mind

  • Just like them wacky evangelicals!

  • Ohyes definitely.

  • Really they don’t even care for animals either…just like to hear themselves talk I guess!

  • I value animals more than I value people, so it’s very possible that they do too.

  • Wow, quite a few passionate posts here.

According to IslandChefManager, PETA doesn’t believe that man is above animals.  I agree.  I would have to say that if there are PETA members stating they would kill a human before killing an animal, then they must believe that man is below animals.

But how can that be?  I assume that most PETA members don’t believe in Christianity.  If that is correct AND that they are more likely to believe in Evolution, then it gets really confusing.  If a human being is not above animals because he evolved from animals as well, then what is the issue?  If we are nothing more than ‘smart’ monkeys, then what is wrong with anything we do to other animals?  Cats eat mice.  Lions eat gazelles.  Bears eat fish.  Humans eats whatever they want.  Why hold humans accountable to anything if it’s all a cosmic crapshoot as to why we exist at all?  ALL animals should be held to the same standards, not just humans.  If cats learned to talk, would we THEN expect them to leave birds alone?

I appreciate the general idea of not treating animals cruelly, but when those who follow the ideas to such extent that human lives become meaningless, then it goes too far.

  • I value animals more than people.

honestly, a few billion humans need to die, or the world isn’t going to last much longer, with ozone depletion and everything. and I don’t really think animals have contributed much to global warming.. I like them better.

and who cares anyway, it’s just a dumb story about a baby being born in a stable.

  • Some of them may.
But it’s sad that PETA gets kind of a bad reputation for such things.

  • yea I think they do

  • i understand why people would like animals more than humans.  an animal is just exactly what it portrays itself to be.  a human can be anything behind that “mask”.  so…  i understand why someone would like animals more than people.  no lies.

  • Yes, I think they have gone too far.

Icebox_Cyclepath that comment made my day.

  • i despise PETA

  • They’re out lookin’ for a little justice after word slipped out that PETA kills animals, as well.

  • We have much to many little cute little baby cows at my daddy’s dairy. If any of you would like to join us, we are going to kill a few dozen and have a big veal cook out this Sunday. Come one come all, Peta member get in half price.

  • 5:30 were our you Colleen. I am starting to get silly again.

  • Uh.. YEAH!

And, I love animals.. Tons… I have always wanted to be a vegetarian, and I am on and off. I don’t buy any things that are tested on animals. I support shelters, I take care of my animals, and I refuse to attend circuses. Yet, at the same time, I think PETA goes way overboard sometimes with their campaigns. Life is life, and you are nothing but a hypocrite if you protect one and act like you could care less about another.

  • yup.. they’d rather use all of their energies to help animals get the same rights, like voting, than help the millions of babies that get murdered by their mothers’ doctors.

maybe PETA will be happy when every animal has the right to vote, ride in the front of the bus, and  own property.

  • “an animal is just exactly what it portrays itself to be”

Tell that to a chameleon or an angler fish. I understand that most of you never set set foot off of concrete, but you could at lest watch the animal planite.

  • yeah i think so.

  • PETA is a bit messed up. If you’ve ever seen Penn and Teller’s Bullshit episode on it, you’ll understand. I think it may be on YouTube somewhere if anyone is interested in watching it.

  • Yup, but then a lot of animals are a lot easier to like!

    Then there are the trees…..

  •  I’m used to be all for animal rights and what not, but PETA seriously has gone too far. I was a member once. I have now realized they are nothing more than terrorists and hypocrites.

  • There’s nothing wrong with that; PETA definately does take things to far, but as far as valueing animals over people…Less animals have let me down.

  • Before a group, like PETA, writes letters (or protests) they need their facts straight.  It just makes PETA look stupid.  Do they value animals more than people – maybe.

  • Definitely.
They’re so obsessed with them, it makes me think they secretly want to marry one.

‘I now pronounce you man and horse’

  • Of course PETA upholds an animal’s life over a human’s. I think PETA needs to look at the facts before doing something stupid like that again. Tsk tsk PETA -waves a finger-

Oh, I did like the People Eat Tasty Animals.

Sorry, the whole, lets eat leaves and what nots didn’t work for me.

    Posted 11/25/2006 at 5:00 PM by AnGeLpiNaY1190

It’s ignorant people like this that shouldn’t be answering these questions. Let’s eat leaves? Leaves? You’ve obviously never been out of your little town, if you think veg’s eat leaves. I assume that’s what you were getting at.

  • Oh and i didn’t think she mean leaves literally. I’m talking strictly salads though.

  • As a proud member, no.

  • Yeeeeah

  • Yeah. But sometimes I can understand it. =P

  • We see it everywhere these days, PETA is just an extension of the “save the trees and kill the children” mentality.

  • Or in this case save the animals.

  • i think it’s amazing when people say that others are “insane” because they feel strongly about something and act on it, when more than half of them do nothing about things they feel strongly about and choose to just whine and complain about it. ignorant people make me so angry.

no, i dont think they value animals more than people.

my question is, for everyone who says being associated with PETA is wrong, or insane, is it just as insane not to eat meat? is it insane to be a vegitarian because you think its cruel to eat innocent animals?

think about what you say before you speak sometimes, it’ll help you out in the real world.

  • Animals! Good with BBQ.

  • Do animals have rights? I guess we need to read them their miranda rights before we slaughter them.

  • Of course. They like to spray paint on obviously expensive fake purple fur jackets.

  • YES!  Poeple like them need to keep their noses in their own businesses.  And how is it cruel to animals to put them in nativity scenes?  Those poeple need to get a life.  Those kinds of poeple think that the animals shouldn’t be killed off for food, yet we should still take care of them.  Hello!!  They would become over populated if that happened!

  • I don’t think PETA is crazy at all…

I mean, people can generally defend themselves against wrongs, and if they can’t, there’s the police, the ACLU, whatever.

But animals don’t really have anyone to stand up for them, except PETA and other animal-rights groups. I know they sometimes might go a little overboard, but it’s certainly better than having nobody at all watching the animal products industry or standing up for animal rights.

So I say, Good job PETA. There’s nothing wrong with having the animals’ best interests at heart.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

PETA has gone way too far in everything it does. Sure, throwing marshmallows at people with fur coats is fun, but putting paint on yourself and sliding against animal shop buildings is going too far.

  • oh gosh yes.

abortion, people. slaughtering helpless infants. yet the same people who are pro choice will be in the peta.

ugh. it makes me so angry.

  • ehh…nativity scenes are just as dangerous as living in a zoo -__-

    stuf PETA.

    -Jacob

  • PETA is pretty much just an organization for the voluntary extinction of humanity

    -David

  • Oh yeah.

  • yeah seems like it

(( wow i havn’t commented here for a LOONG time this is what happens when u have a slow computer lol ))

  • Yes. And I hate how they misuse scripture to “prove” their point. Hmm…didn’t God tell Peter in the New Testament to eat animals (snakes, etc) saying? PETA claims that Jesus was against “cruelty” toward animals, which they claim is eating animals, etc. I think Jesus is against cruelty to animals, but only when someone is cruel for the sake of being cruel. Not when the animal is used for food, etc.

  • But on the other hand, I will never have another pet in a cage ever again in my life. After watching a poor little hamster gnaw on the bars of a cage for a year, I just can’t do that to any other animal again.

  • < insert rant >Yes.  uggg. PETA unless you mean People Eating Tasty Animals.  I hate them.  I think they should volunteer themselves in lieu of the poor wittle bunnies and mousies so the rest of us can benefit from research on lab animals.  They also shouldn’t use any kind of medication (even if it is animal free or currently they don’t test it on animals), or use any kind of surgery that was perfected in labs using animals.  We’d kill them off and we can move on with our lives and not be plagued by their ridiculous animal cruelty videos.

NORMAL vegans can get a cookbook that isn’t full of political bullshit. < /end rant >

  • Hey look, it’s your birthday in half an hour!

  • (but it’s bad luck to say happy birthday early so g’night)

  • Well, animals are far more intelligent.

But I say I can’t blame PETA. They’re just looking for a purpose. A stupid one, but a purpose nonetheless.

  • I know they do.  God said to “manage the animals” not let them rule your life!

  • PETA – of course.

  • PETA is as radical as Greenpeace

  • PETA is like any good intention, it just gets out of hand.

    ’nuff said….

  • Most definitely.  I wouldn’t expect any less from people who believe we evolved from a bacterial mass of goo.

  • PETA is like a lot of other so called “good guys” group…but they don’t know what they are talking about half the time they like to get their facts mixed up and turned arounds…enviroaMENTALists…some are good some are out there…Smile

  • Oh boo whoo! Your making a big deal over a little bitty thing!
Posted 11/25/2006 at 6:38 PM by twzzzer

Who’s the one making the big deal?

  • I think they are jsut a bunch of whacks anymore…seriously, they should be a little more careful in their research….

    now i’m hungry for a steak…

  • What date was this hammer and worm incident, anyway? I’d like to go to that post.

  • OMG, they were most likely plastic figurines. What idiots.

    And yes.

  • Pretty much, yeah.

  • We cannot all be vegetarians. And not all fo us cna waste our time getting on to churcher for making a goat stand on stage and get fed and watered. As you all know air conditioning is bad for animals health.

This is like abortion. Stop forcing your beliefs on other. I like the part where they are to righteous for a “I am sorry, we were wrong.” chicken?

  • I don’t see what’s so horrible about caring about animals. Even though I don’t agree with a lot of PETA’s methods and actions, I do believe that for the most part their hearts are in the right place.

  • DOESN’T EVERYONE.  OH NO!! THEY JUST FOUND OUT THAT I BAKED A TURKEY FOR THANKSGIVING!!!!

  • yes, unfortunately. i’m a vegetarian and i agree with some of the things they do, but mostly they just go way overboard.

  •  > Yea, but then most of their notoriety screams nut-ball, so it would depend on the encounter and person fm PETA you had to deal with…. Good example of the negative I’ve heard about in the Brit flick ’28 Days’…. If it’s as advertized, I’d go with the sentiment in the movie…. Pre-emptive!

    Peace

  • Oh grrrrr!

    Grrrrr!

    GRRRR!

I hate everyone! The world sucks now!

I do not know how to fix it, but if we rewind back to a simpler time….

    Oh, I can’t remember a simpler time.

Lets idealize something we have no fucking clue about the true good or evil of a phenomenon, write letters and protest like those right to life nutjobs!

    Final result?

If you want to be pissed, you will be.

I think pro-lifers and peta members should have a meth orgy or something. They would be a lot more chill after the hangover shakes off…

  • Yes.  Just read the comments to this post and you can see why it is so much easier to care about animals than humans.

  • To the original post, no, PETA doesn’t value animals more than people. But you are correct, some of there methods are a little dumb. But that doesn’t make them bad people. & they’re for a good cause. No orginaization is prefect.

“< insert rant >Yes.

< /end rant >”

hmmmm…well maybe we should decide to slauter you. then take you to the factory where you get turned into processed meat. While you’re waiting to die you can get mistreated and poorly fed. Then we’ll hang you from the ceiling, while you’re hanging there trying to escape we’ll beat you’re head with a rock. If that doesn’t kill you you get a nice gunshot to the head. Then we’ll grind you up and put you into little packages and send you off to Wegmans. Good bye.

PETA is not rediculous. Maybe if you knew a little something about the mistreatment of animals you wouldn’t say things like that. Do your research.
    -Michele

OKAY; first of all, instead of being all bigheaded about your ideas of something, why don’t you try and look at the other side of things. Maybe then you’ll learn to resepect other peoples beliefes, eh? AND also; you’re the one being redicilous. Seriousely. Listen to yourself. There are other ways research can be done without testing on animalllsss. Like Michele said, go do some research. Yes, I’ll admit, lab testing is very good for the people in the world, but..in a way..we’re just destroying our own race. I don’t think that it’s necessary to destroy ourselves and animals, now is it? Do you think that the human race should be the species that cause the end of all existance? THINK about it. Yeah. Lab research is keeping people alive longer. But we’re the most selfish, dirty, and unpure speices of all the world. I don’t think we should be killing off innocent little creatures just to benifit ourselves, when there are other ways to do it. Even if they’re more convienent, we still shouldn’t be JERKSSS. Like you. You’re a jerk >:O

Just because you don’t agree with some of the radical ideas that PETA performs, doesn’t mean you should totally and blatantly disrespect their ideas and beliefes. This is the end.

    -Danielle

  • Where is the PETH when you need them? People for the Ethical Treatment of Humans.

  • Its dangerous for an animal to stand in a nativity scene as opposed to a field?? These people are nuts!! And yes to the question

  • In response to the post, Yes

Now what ive thought about while reading other comments; Peta is a ridiculous organization. It is one thing to be for animal rights, it is a completely different thing to hate all those who do not agree with you. Some women like fur coats, I personally cannot touch them but some women love them. What effect does pouring red paint all over a innocent womens coat to symbolise blood have other than making her HATE your organization? Im all for PEACEFUL protest, but im also all for minding your own god damn business about certain things and PETA seems to get riled up about stupid petty things and then overlook the important issues. My next door neighbor clips the vocal chords out of her dogs so they dont bark, keeps them locked up in kennels all day long ( they are out for maybe an hour a day) and screams at them on a regular basis. The most she has ever had was 13 at a time. All of her dogs are well fed, so the Cops cant to anything about it. Where is PETA for these poor suffering dogs? Thats was I thought…nowhere. But they are leading a protest in Alaska because people arent using animals in manger scenes, so they must be horribly busy.

  • All this crap about PETA and how some of thier ideas are good. We are too PC now. Honestly. We cannot dislike anything anymore without being ignorant, or racist, or full of hate. I dont like PETA like i dont like Terrorists. You cannot win a war by just going after soliders, the soliders recruit from somehwere and get resources from some where. WWII could not have been won if we targeted just the soliders. jesus!

  • Yes, but there are quite a few people who can’t relate to other people, so they turn to animals to give them comfort. That’s why there are so many animal hoarders or collectors. They are the  people who can’t relate to other humans. Unfortunately, they are mistreating animals in the process and don’t realize it. I think it is better to have a good mix of loving both animals and humans. Although, at the moment I really don’t love humans because of all the crap they put the rest of us through. lol

  • yes

  • definately. they need to get a grip on reality.

  • i would much rather have them actually helping animals in danger than worrying about a nativity scene. There werent even animals in the scene! good god, what has our world come to?

  • PETA can get a little intense, I admit. But I am a vegetarian and hardxcore animal lover, but that doesn’t mean I value animals lives more than humans.. I just wish animals lives could be valued AS MUCH as humans.

  • I am also a member of People Eating Tasty Animals.

  • animals are people too! NOT!

  • As I replied to Arcane 67

“I would have to say that if there are PETA members stating they would kill a human before killing an animal, then they must believe that man is below animals.”

Um. . .man IS an animal!  What are human beings?  Mammals.  What are mammals?

“ I assume that most PETA members don’t believe in Christianity.”

Well I can’t speak in behalf of everyone, but there are plenty of animal rights Christians.  You can say that the bible says man is given “dominion” over the animals, but the thousands of years ago the old testament passages were written, man was also given “dominion”over women!  In fact, if you read the old testament you’ll find that if a woman was raped and she wasn’t married or engaged to be married she had to MARRY HER RAPIST.

We don’t follow lots of the stuff the old testament says.  And the bible really doesn’t say much about our supposed superiority to animals either.

  • As to SSecretSvc88 who said the following:

“I am thinking about starting my own organization, PETV, People for the Ethical Treatment of Vegitables!! We worry so much about Animals, what about those poor Carrots?!?!?! How are they going to be protected from the Spotted Gecko?!?!?!?! “

That’s why you go fruitarian.  You don’t have to kill the tree to eat the fruit the tree produces.   (keep in mind that nuts are also fruit–you don’t have to kill the tree to eat the nuts the tree produces, even dropping to the ground eventually as the wind blows them down)

  • “Doesn’t PETA have something better to do than complain about this though? There is plenty of unethical treatment of animals outside manger scenes that they could be trying to correct… OH well.

That’s along the same line of reasoning people will use when they say “oh I care about the animals, but there’s so much bad stuff going on with humans that we shouldn’t worry about that till we get human stuff solved.”

Well there will always be human sufferings.  And there will always be “major” animal crisis situations, but it’s the “little things” that can really make a difference.

It’s hard to one handedly change something really big, but something small. . .is where it all begins.

Um. . .that was all just a dream he had.  Do you believe every one of your dreams is from God?

  • As a final note, might I add that there are always “extreme” people in anything.  And that’s what the media ALWAYS focuses on.  And Peta definitely knows how to take advantage of media attention.

But most Peta people would not say they value animals more, though it can be hard at times to love humans with all they do (sometimes not even realizing–we’re so blinded to all the animal cruelty going on).

Keep in mind Peta is a general organization anyone with a few dollars and a care for animal rights can enter into.  Not everyone thinks entirely the same thing.  We’re not all “100% in agreement”.  It’s silly for people to act like we are!

  • PETA = People for the Eating of Tasty Animals.

Why do you think gas prices are so high? It’s because the stupid environmentalists won’t let us open more drilling. Grrrr.

Yes, I think they’d kill a person before buying a mouse trap. Haha, I’ve killed mice. PETA. *Mumbles*

  • i think that peta has good intentions (fighting for animal rights) but they go about it all wrong, and end up just turning people off to animal rights and vegetarianism. sorry, but pouring pigs blood on ,someone in a fur coat is a little…….hypocritical.

  • Some may, but not all.

I’m a member of PETA, but mostly for the free stuff. :P

  • Uhm, yeah
    Like, a lot

  • Yes. They got issues.

  • Yes. And here’s why. We have people raising money to help save cats or help penguins after an oil spill. And yet thousands of people wrap their world around that. When we should be dealing with the real issue at hand. THOUSANDS of people die every day because they lack the basic nutrition and clean water. We can fix that… and yet we go and help save cats.

    I find it intriguing honestly.

A cat or a human.. hmm which to save which to save?

  • PETA is a strange organization. I mean, yeah, I’m a vegetarian, but I think it’s annoying as fuck when people (cough*PETA*cough) get all up in people’s faces and are like, “SAVE THE FUCKING ANIMALS!” Although I feel really bad saying that, because one of my heroes (actually, 3 of my heroes, Benji Madden, Joel Madden, and Billy Martin) totally supports PETA, but I think PETA is annoying. They need to get over the fact that they’re not going to make everybody in the world become vegetarians, no matter how hard they try.

                                                                                                                                 -KrIsTiN-

  • it definately sounds that way.

    PETA: “Don’t hurt the animals!”
    Random person: “Okay.”
PETA: “Shut up you animal murderer!” -chases with bats and spiked objects and beats down random passersby to a pulp-

  • YES, THEY DO. I know a handful of “PETA-crazies” and 4/5 believe that animals are superior to humans because they are innocent because if they do something wrong they don’t realize that it is wrong. And they believe “humans should die and animals should live”.

Now, I’m not claiming to know that all PETA people are like this, but in my experience, they definitely value animals more than they do humans.

  • sigh.

  • No, but we are animals too, don’t forget that.

  • I’m sorry but… THEY DID SEND AN APOLIGY TO THAT CHURCH!!! And PETA’s director of affairs with animals used for entertainment said that he was puzzled that they had gotten it wrong. Why is everyone making such a big deal of it anyway?

  • I PREFER ANIMALS TO HUMANS-!

In fact- NEVER ask me to give to a charity for People… I only give money to help animals.
I am glad for people like me…
    Meow…

  • I’d save my cat from a building that was on fire before I would save most of the people I know.

My cat is sweet and loves me and has never hurt me.

Most people I know are pricks.  And have hurt me many times in many ways.

PETA is weird.  But for the most part, I prefer the company of animals to the company of people.

    Espcially republicans.

    haha

  • PETA is pointless.

  • yes, i agree on that.

  • absolutely. what goofballs.

  • yes

    peta is a cult

    ..but go veg! :D :D :D
