Cosmetic Surgery
It is my birthday today. I think I am focused on issues of aging.
Here we go:
A recent survey of internet users showed one in five were open to having cosmetic surgery. Most of those that were polled were open to have that cosmetic surgery when they were older. Younger people were more likely to consider it. Here is the link: Link
Would you be open to have cosmetic surgery when you are older?

yes
first comment, FTW.
2nd
NO
YOU’RE ONLY 35!!!
HEY TOP TEN!!!
That depends. If I’m diagnosed with breast cancer and have to have a mastectomy, I’d have to say yes. Otherwise, not so much.
I don’t think so. I know people who have had it. Lipo/ gastric bypass seem to be the most common (and then breast). I live in L.A. You listen to the radio and there is always an ad for plastic surgery.
I am older. Nope.
No way lol.
No, not if it was only because I had wrinkles or something.
It’s my dad’s birthday too!
Happy birthday!
If the time ever came that I needed it…sure. I’m vain enough to do it, I think.
maybe… = NO for now, but who knows right…
No.
No, sir. It’s a silly idea.
No.
I’ll let you know if I ever live to be old.
No
nah,
only reconstruction surgery.
good diet shall keep me young
maybe…
I think getting it when you’re older is more risky, but definitely.
In a society focused on youth, it’s an unfortunate but necessary “evil”.
Keep in mind that some people get “plastic surgery” because of a broken nose or something.
More people have gotten this then I think we realize!
yes, but to make sure I don’t go overboard and look ridiculous, like Burt Reynolds and Joan Rivers, yuck!
sage
Cosmetic surgery may be more about beauty. . .
but better to go out of this world pretty then ugly.
Okay. Now I sound vain. . .
Yay. #25! I like being so better then #1!
maybe a little, but not crazy changes that go on nowadays….. but i doubt i would get any………
i probably wouldn’t ever get it. (happy birthday!)
At the rate I’m growing hair in unwanted places…I bet that it won’t be too long before I get some “work” done to give me smooth and kissable nalgas! Does that count?
ew no.. I always thought it was rather gross….but that’s just me! And that’s all I’ll ever be! Just me! NO PLASTIC!! YAY!! haha ..I’ll stick with what God gave me and not change it.
like if i had a car wreck and burned all the skin off my face, i’d pay to have that fixed, but if i wanted to look better or younger, i don’t like the idea of cosmetic surgery jsut for kicks, this is one long run on setance, maby i should pay more attention in english class from now on, no
Nah..
well..
yeah
-Jacob
Nah.
Where is serenity in cosmetic surgery for older people? If you were so unhappy with some crows feet or wisdom lines, hell even jowls, and ran ran ran away from the reality of life,
Through surgery, which is a temporary fix for what I and many others do not really see as a problem.
I’m going to get older. I GOT older. YOU got older. Everyone gets older.
Is there any peace in getting a nip or a tuck there? I think it builds a crutch that leads of immense dissatisfaction.
When I get to that point I want to lean back and sip mai tais on the beach, not look in a mirror and fret.
Ahhh what the hell do I know.
i am open to it now and would be open to it later in my life!
yea. but who knows… maybe i won’t need it. (joke)
nope. I am just fine with the way I look. I dont mind growing older. It is something that happens and I dont feel the need to have to look like a twenty year old my whole life. Plus I dont like the idea of sticking foregn matter in my body or having unnessisary surgery.
No; if you don’t like something about your looks then work on it.
Only for certain things.. but I would now.
i’d like too…but it probably wouldnt happen
Are you really going to start out every post, “It is my birthday today.”?
Post the pics!!
Yes – I don’t want to inherit the family neck!
Nope.
of course…i’m getting a chin/nose job…and i’m getting my second toe on each foot shortened….i might even be a plastic surgeon when i get older
Not so much.
Happy Birthday to you!!! I would never do cosmetic surgery unless there was a medical reason for it. If I were in an accident I would hope that my chin would be damaged so I could get a new chin.
yes, if i have some awful accident and need reconstructive surgery. otherwise, no. i don’t think i could trust someone to cut my fat off or anything like that. if they screw up, then i could die! i don’t even know if i’ll get laser eye surgery, because if the doctor screws up i’ll be blind!! (i always think of the worst possibility haha)
oh and, ¡Feliz Cumpleaños!
Probably not…unless I gained, then lost a ton of weight and was getting rid of excess skin. Or if I got a massive tumor that wasn’t cancerous but was affecting everyday life. That kind of cosmetic surgery.
No.
Happy Birthday Dan!
You really don’t want my opinion on plastic surgery. It would turn into a rant about vain and shallow people and how society promotes….nevermind. See?
nah, im content the way i am. i may not be “older” yet but i wouldnt want to do it then either.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and for cosmetic surgery, maybe.
No. Only because I know the one who loves me and he loves me for me. I wouldn’t need to do that. However I wouldn’t let myself ‘go’ either. I would still try to remain in shape and look good for him. I still care about his opinion even though I know it’s unwavering.
probably not
The good die young.
Yes
I don’t think so. Could change my mind.
Not sure…let’s see if I’m still vain then.
no
people get old
suck it up
Happy Birthday!
We’ll see when I get there, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
No, I’m too much of a chicken shit to go through with a surgery, lol. And Happy Birthday, by the way!
-KrIsTiN-
N-O spells no.
we’ll see.
maybe if i get in some freak accident and my face gets all screwed up, and i need radical reconstructive surgury.
Then I’d consider it
i dont think so unless something happened and i needed it to look normal. but otherwise no b/c go wants u to have the face u have and if he wanted u to look different he would have made u that way.
I had a tummy tuck 6 years ago for two reasons. 1) I had 3 large babies and tons of extra skin left over. I have always been thin so I wanted to get rid of that skin to look my best. 2) My stomach muscles had seperated and needed to be sewn back together to prevent hernias – which when the surgeon went in the dfound a large one. This seperation was also caused by pregnancies. Would I have more – sure but not yet.
oh yes. i want to be all plastic when i die so i don’t decompose as fast so i can pollute the earth even in death!
A lot that we do, we do to look good, either to others or to ourselves. Women wear make up, men gel their hair and work on muscles, we all wear nice clothes when we go out, we dress up at work, becuase we are told that it leads to a better self esteem at work, which equals better production. We have dental work done, we whiten our teeth, we lose weight or for some that are real lucky, they gain it. All for what purpose? To look better, so that we feel better.
YES, most surely, if I looked like a pug as I aged, I would do it in a heartbeat, if it made me feel better, absolutly.
Happy Birthday!

have a good birthday Dan
-Jacob
Wow. You sure love your birthday.
Meh. I’ll decide when i actually am older.
hey, you’re thirty-five.
you still have a long ways to go =]
don’t worry about your age
embrace it.
oh and about surgery.
EW NEVER.
who wants to see an bajillion year old with flawless skin?
Happy Birthday Dan!! And no, don’t think I’d do the surgery thing. I love me just the way I am!
No. I would never consider having cosmetic surgery done, unless I got into some horrible accident, and it was reconstructive.
nope.
and by the way happy birthday!
Happy birthday Dan!
Maybe if I feel like I need it when I’m older.
A Realtor in her forties went to a plastic surgeon for a face-lift.
The surgeon told her about a new procedure called “The Knob”, where a small knob is placed on the top of a woman’s head and can be turned to tighten up her skin to produce the effect of a brand new face lift. Of course, the woman wanted “The Knob.” Over the course of the years, the woman tightened the knob, and the effects were wonderful, the woman remained young looking and vibrant. After fifteen years, the woman returned to the surgeon with two problems:
“All these years, everything has been working just fine. I’ve had to turn the knob many times and I’ve always loved the results. But now I’ve developed two annoying problems: First, I have these terrible bags under my eyes and the knob won’t get rid of them.”
The doctor looked at her closely and said, “Those aren’t bags, those are your breasts.”
She said, “Well, I guess there’s no point in asking about the goatee…..”
35 is not old… you really are quite young and (presumably) studly… so don’t fret yourself or you will get wrinkles and then you will have to consider your own question about plastic surgery…
i am older. i have decided not to get plastic surgery, although after my breast cancer scare this year dj and i did discuss reconstructive surgery were it necessary. (thank God it wasn’t)…
my gran aged naturally, and i thought she was beautiful, ditto my mom…
what IS this obsession with youth, anyway??? i mean, hell, most of us older types have earned these gray hairs and wrinkles and have wisdom to go with them! why hide our wealth??
maybe lol..
I say no now at 35, but i have changed my mind on a lot of things in life and that may be one of them lol
Sure.
Happy Birthday!!
When I was younger – I thought I probably would – but now that I’m older – naaaaaaaaaa – I’m just gonna deal with it – Any wrinkles I have are from laughing – I’ve earned them LOL
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No because going under the knife when you’re older is a hell of a lot more risky.
It depends what I look like. Hey where is my very cool song?
when your older yes. but right now for anyone at the age of 18 to 30 i dont think its actually best for anything to get plastic surgery at that age consideirng most of america’s youth is controlled by the media. so most people my age would could consider plastic surgery (and yes i have had considered plastic surgery) when your older its different becuase ur mind words differently
I don’t think so… I guess maybe if I age really badly. And as long as it has no bad affect physically.
Maybe a little but not too much. I just wanna look decent.
Happy Birthday BTW
Happy Birthday! I thought you were a lot older, because you’ve got that Jedi Wisdom thing going on. So I guess that’s a compliment…
Cosmetic surgery = ew. I know a guy who does that for a living and he says that most of the women he operates on are not that ugly in the first place. He thinks it should be saved for the people who are in accidents, like burns or birth defects.
We’re too superficial in this country, any dang way.
No I will never need it my beauty will never fade in any way.
There is this panting I have in my attic . . .
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, sweetie!!
Hmmm…now that I am getting “older”, I guess I would go for it, if I feel it is needed.
So far…so good!
*hugs*
nope., i dont need it. and won’t. i plan to age gracefully.
Heck yes. When I am older, I want perky boobs. I may be wrinkly, stinky, with cellulite and a falling butt, but god knows I need perky boobs.
Nah, I am who I am. I plan to keep myself in decent shape, with how sports I like it would be tough to do otherwise.
It’s a technology that is commonly abused.
No.
Happy birthday by the way :p
I’d consider cosmetic work for my teeth and if I were horribly scared, but probably not for anything else.
I think surgery from pregnancy is okay like having 4 inches of loose skin hanging down isn’t good and it doesn’t mean you’re vain.
I’ve seen women with so many face lifts that they couldn’t even close their eyes under anesthesia. I can spot a woman or even a man who’s had it every time.
I think people carry it too far, but it does have its place, mostly with those whose features are battered through trauma or illness.
Otherwise, I think it’s just vanity. But it does help some people a lot.
I think it’s stupid for a man to insist his wife have it.
When I was your age I had a makeup makeover and got my ears pierced.
dang dan-how much older do I have to be?
Hey DAN…….passing by hope your Birthday was filled will a lot of suprises……Have a great year ahead…..
I probably wouldn’t. Except maybe to get rid of a few scars that have turned…evil.
no
heh, heh. no.
no…they keep taking things from me tho…and I have 2 plastic parts now does that count…Smile
Nope, the only thing I will consider in laser hair removal but at my son’s appointment the other day I read a handout and the procedure scares me.
I prefer to lean on diet, maintaining stress and giving my skin extra attention.
I am older and the answer is no. Sometime in life one should come to the conclusion that surface beauty is fleeting and shallow. The real beauty of a person is inside.
no…I want to look like an old person when I get old. I don’t want to look like an old person who tried to look young.
Happy Birthday!
I’d be up for it now. But not just for cosmetic reasons. I’d have a breast reduction in a heartbeat.
Sure, I think I’d consider it if something were really bothering me
No, you’ve already determined the older we get, the sexier we get, so I won’t need it when I get older.
Happy birthday man!
wishing you a wonderful year
filled with love and laughter
cosmetic surgery isn’t a bad
thing. i don’t see what’s so
controversial about people wanting
to look good. i.e. its socially
acceptable if someone gets braces
but ppl talk smack that lady with
bunch of face lifts. if she’s happy
and it doesn’t hurt anyone,
who gives a shit. live and let live.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AGAIN!
I am older, and my answer is no. I don’t like pain. I don’t even have pierced ears.
Today is my daughter’s birthday too. She’s 26. 26 on the 26th.
I hate that bit of fat people get under their face, y’know, the second chin. It just disgusts me. If I were to get cosmetic surgury, it would be to fix that when I get it. Other than that, it’s doubtful I’d get any surgury.
Or, y’know, surgery. Maybe.
no, true beauty is on the inside
Hmm… I’d wish my answer was a positive no. But there is that sliver of doubt.
But for the most part….no.
*tells little vain voice to be quiet*
when i get older?
I want it now..
liposuction, and restilin (sp?) injections.
i don’t think so. unless i’m in a car accident or something.
Noooo
No, that shit is dangerous.
Oh, and happy bday.
Definatly not. I look fine now and aging is a natural process. After all, do I want to look like Demi Moore when I am 50? Hmm. Bad example. Okay, lets try again. Do I want to look like Jessica Simpson when I am 50? Well perhaps I ought to clarify seeing as when I am 50, Jessica Simpson certainly won’t be far behind 50 years old.
Okay, lemme start again. No. No, I wouldn’t.
Heck no. Well wait.Older as in older than who? I am already older than you. I would have it now if I could.
No, I just hope to keep aging gracefully!
Having a Happy Birthday?!
Only recontructive, if (God forbid) I had a horrible accident. Not for aesthetics.
Heee!
Happy Birthday Dan!
ONLY 35?
You are STILL very Young!
I am almost 3 years older than you! Heeee!
And Sure- I would be happy to get work done if I need it… But it will be sometime. I still feel like I look pretty good for my age- especially since I am headed for 40! UUUGH- OUCH!
XoxoxoX
Jane
no. i can just wait for God to give me a perfect body when He comes to get me!
If the surgery corrects something that actually needs to be corrected (Like someone who lost their breasts to cancer or something…) But other than that, no. You do realize that people in many parts of the world can’t even get the medical treatment they need, don’t you? People have no buisness correcting things that don’t need to change when there are still others who actually die because they don’t get certain kinds of surgery.
GAH!!!
yep
HEY HAPPY BIRTHDAY
I am older…and yes, I would.
No, too much money, too scary, too risky. No “beauty” is worth that. If people don’t like me because I have some wrinkles when I’m older, I don’t think much of their character.
if i could i would get breast reduction surgery. i get a little tired of lugging these honkers around…
Younger poeple tend to go by the trend and examples set by those they look up to…. Whomsoever those trendsetters may be, be forewarned: You’re being looked up to….hahaha No, to answer the question; maybe otc product for line reduction but surgery? NAH >
Peace
maybe liposuction at a later date, and only if I was 100% convinced it was safe, but facial or other surgery–no
i think it’s not for me.
Wrote a poem about how I felt on this issue:
Cosmetic surgery
Isn’t forgery
To want to be pretty
Isn’t fake
For that we all ache
We may jump in a lake
And sure, we’re lucky we live
Where there’s no piranha to bite our nose
But we live with ads for beauty
They hoot, they holler
Our desire for looks grows taller
I disagree with it but who knows, maybe in the future is just a natural thing to do. It’s like getting braces, it’s not necessary but it looks good. People are vain.
HAPPY BERTHDAY DAN…..NICE YEAR 35…you look Great….Sound good
HAPPY BERTHDAY DAN…..NICE YEAR 35…you look Great….Sound good
You bet, I’m demanding that the dd either become a plastic surgeon, or marry one!!!
Only if I was in an accident or something disfiguring.
Otherwise, I wouldn’t feel like me if I changed what I was.
I was shocked to read about the high number of complications from what I’d consider first: liposuction. So I guess I’ll just have a boob job. As long as someone else pays for it, because I really have better things to do with 3000 bucks.
I’m 36. I have nothing against plastic surgery. Especially when famous people have too much of it and somehow seem not to know. I mean. who told Joan Rivers she looked GOOD? Yikes. She’ll be Michael Jackson before too long.
Happy Birthday!
I’d maybe do MINOR surgery, nothing too big.
no. i see no point in wasting my money on something so pointless. we’re all going to die eventually. some may leave the world looking gorgeous, but really, no one cares. the people who have known them will also die one day, taking whatever memories they had of that one person with them. therefore making them a thing of the past. other than that, the body decays and that once gorgeous body is going to become something hideous and repulsive to look at. wether a person was attractive or not.
besides, people only want cosmetic surgery because they’re insecure little craps who fail to realize that there are people with REAL deformities.
oh and these insecure craps also fail to realize that perfection doesn’t exist. a person may be undeniably attractive, but the fact that they weren’t born with those features makes them a bunch of fakes.
happy birthday though.
Probably not. I’m a natural type of person.
Happy Birthday Dan.
Happy Belated Birthday!!
Not really. The things I want to change are beyond “cosmetic”.
no.
No. Unless something drastic happened.
