  • I See Dead People

The house that police believe Laci Peterson was murdered in by her husband Scott Peterson has been sold.

    Photo

The house was sold for almost $350,000 to a couple.  Here is the link:  Link

Would you want to live in a house that someone has been murdered in?

  • Nipplegate Part 2

I received an email about my last post on infant baptism.  I have permission from the sender of the email to post a portion of that email for you.  Here it is with my response:

“Dan, you may want to take down that photograph of Jennifer Garner.  You may not have noticed but her nipple is showing in that photograph.”

    My response:

I really appreciate your input.  I don’t think it is her nipple.  I think it is the crease in her dress.  Do me a favor.  Go to my site and look at the bottom right corner.  Do you see Jesus or two rabbits having sex?

    Photo

Is that Jennifer Garner’s nipple showing or is it the crease in her dress?

  • Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck had their 1-year-old daughter, Violet, baptized.

She was baptized at Christ Church United Methodist.

Would you baptized a 1-year-old child?

  • President Ford Died

I hate to interrupt the post below but I want to let you know that President Ford has died.   (You can go read the lyrics of the song in the post below).

I found out from ProfessorTom via the message feature.  Here is the link:  Link

President Ford didn’t serve long but is best known for the pardon he gave to former President Nixon.  President Nixon was being accused of crimes when he resigned as President.  President Ford pardoned him for what he said was the good of the country.

If you were President Ford, would you have pardoned President Nixon?

  • Held

This is a song that Natalie Grant sings.  It is called “Held.”  The song was written by Christa Wells when two of her loved ones lost their baby.  They woke up one morning to look in their baby’s crib and they found that their baby had passed away.

Here are the lyrics of the song:

    Two months is too little.
    They let him go.
    They had no sudden healing.
    To think that providence would
Take a child from his mother while she prays
    Is appalling.

Who told us we’d be rescued?
What has changed and why should we be saved from nightmares?
    We’re asking why this happens
To us who have died to live?
    It’s unfair.

    Chorus:
This is what it means to be held.
How it feels when the sacred is torn from your life
    And you survive.
This is what it is to be loved.
And to know that the promise was
When everything fell we’d be held.

    This hand is bitterness.
We want to taste it, let the hatred NUMB our sorrow.
The wise hands opens slowly to lilies of the valley and tomorrow.

    (Chorus)
This is what it means to be held.
How it feels when the sacred is torn from your life
    And you survive.
This is what it is to be loved.
And to know that the promise was
When everything fell we’d be held.

    Bridge:
If hope is born of suffering.
If this is only the beginning.
Can we not wait for one hour watching for our Savior?

    (Chorus)
This is what it means to be held.
How it feels when the sacred is torn from your life
    And you survive.
This is what it is to be loved.
And to know that the promise was
When everything fell we’d be held.

  • 2006 Top News Story

We are at the time of the year where we look at the top news stories of the year.

The Democrats won the 2006 elections.

    Image:Ted Strickland

Saddam Hussein has been sentenced to death by hanging.

We have an ongoing war in Iraq.

Besides the breakup of Britney Spears and K-Fed, what do you think was the most important news story of the year?

  • Iraq Deaths

The Associate Press is releasing information about U.S. Military deaths in Iraq.  The number of deaths reached 2,974.  That number is higher than the deaths on the attack on September 11, 2001.  2,973 died on 9/11.

That number is being widely reported today in the news.  Here is the link:  Link

Is it significant that more military troops have died in Iraq than deaths on 9/11?

  • Taxing Churches

A comment was left in my last post about taxing cigarettes, liquor and gambling.  Here is the comment by bizyma

“what they should do is tax churches. non prophet my a**. (edited) churches shouldnt go w/o being taxed. they want to keep church and state separate, i get that, and they want to keep prayer out of school. sooo, why not go one further and tax them? why should smokers carry the burden? why should alcoholics? why not over tax plastic surgery? or liposuction? or even better……..starbucks???? thats an addiction right there!”

Should churches and other nonprofit organizations be taxed like everyone else?

  • Smoking and Sin Tax

The State of Texas is raising the taxes on smoking by $1 per pack starting in January.  The current cost of taxes on a pack of cigarettes is 41 cents.  It will be raised to $1.41.  That means a pack of cigarettes will cost about $4.50.

The American Cancer Society has said it will reduce the number of kids who start smoking.  Here is the link:  Link

The government has always looked for subtle ways to increase revenue.  They will raise taxes called “sin taxes” on certain products in the name of discouraging unhealthy consumption.  They will usually focus on cigarettes, liquor and gambling.

Do you think it is appropriate for the government to tax cigarettes, liquor and gambling at a higher rate to discourage consumption?

  • Christmas Part 2

So did you get what you wanted?
