It was a very good documentary, except the boring parts about how sad his life is. And since there haven’t been any Nelson Mandela’s this year, I guess maybe he should win it. It certainly would put the enviromental debate on the agenda. But then again, there is no real debate about man’s effect on the enviroment. Except inside the USA of course.

Ummm… most of the stuff he said in that documentary is SERIOUSLY unsubstantiated. There is no scientific consensus about global warming–not to mention the contrary rumors we hear from the media all the time: It’s a really hot winter in this place! It’s snowing in this place where there’s never been snow! Well, which is it? It the earth warming up or cooling down?
Global warming also plays into philosophical/theological views of man and to what extent man can destroy what God has created. But that’s a long tangent.
Mankind is not responsible for saving the whole world; each man individually is responsible for caring for his own plot of land in a way that honors God and places nature in its proper place: elevated (because God created it and called it good) but still subordinate to the rule of man.
He deserves the prize for his efforts in combating Manbearpig! Al Gore has saved us all. I’m super serial!

He’s got a heck of a lot more on his list of accomplishments than his ex-opponent, that’s for sure. (Who I have also wikipedia’d, and it looks to me like he has a nice list, too – but most of them aren’t exactly positive, except for starting a faith-based welfare program while he was governor of Texas…)

Currently if the Sun goes Nova within a million years because its still in the baby stages that it wont Nova out into dust and cause all the planets to fling outwards.
I and other thing the Sun will “ex-spand” or mega surge first. meaning it will eat up the first rock and fry most of Venus into nothing. Our planet Earth will be abolished quickly by an overpowering form of heat.
Right before it blows up the Earth it will palse the Earth. This is Key because it will happen just as our time line of living ends.
This pulse causes global warning.
What happens next is a pain.
After the pulse the Sun will strink in on itself and then it will go Nova. Once it does the North star will be effected as well.
Now no one can say what will happen next. some have guessed.
Some say the milk system undergoing a nova from the SUn or the North Star would cause a black hole in a longer line of chain of events sucking in time.
The Sun and star are very powerful. Could that pulse the sun gave off have travelsed down the time line?
See the pulse would have done more then fire anything left of all the planets but the UV and magnetic wake of something that powerful would have sent out a heave wave signature that could have travels through time.
Not to mention it could be heading right for us down the time line from that pulse to now.
needless to say it will become hot; needless to say each year will be even more hot.

Al Gore has massively contributed to global warming as he has flown around promoting his movie, using more gas and energy than most of us will use in a lifetime. And he certainly hasn’t contributed towards any sort of peace. So, what do you think?

Nothing about raising the issue of global warming implies a push for peace in this world. He definitely does not deserve the award. He assumes that global warming is all our fault and they cannot prove that. There is a good chance that at least part of the warming is from the earth’s natural climatic cycling on a geological timescale of millions of years.
They say old Gore there invented the internet. We have him to thank for all of this. He must be a great hero of our age or something.
He’s done a lot more to help the world recently than most people, including everyone posting here.

–I think I read the quote correctly. I also read the article. He had no hand in furthering the internet in any way. The only thing he did was predict how big it would become in our society (and he wasn’t the only one who did that). So, I’d say you need to go back to the drawing board on that one. Coming from Tennessee, I’ve followed Gore’s career for awhile. That’s why I am confident in my assertion that anything that falls from his lips is bullshit.

Scientist have yet to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that ‘global warming’ is caused directly by humans or their products they drive, consume, use to create, etc. They have shown where the earth has gone through periods of warming and cooling throughout the its very long history (can anyone count a couple of million candles on THAT birthday cake?). So let’s see….Al Gore is getting the Nobel Peace Prize for something that has been studied for decades and written about countless times in scientific journals. Yet, because he brought it to the attention of some politicians he is receiving an honor that rightfully deserves to go to the scientists.
No, he doesn’t deserve an award for his scare tactics, but I’ll award him the Dunce Hat Award.
