60′s or 70′s. You just can’t beat old classic rock and disco beats
Did you not ask this before? Or maybe it was a thread…
Me? I think that the 60s/70s was huge for revolutionizing music. It’s what brought me music that I like. Even more, it was this time that transformed music to inspire those who have created the best music I’ve listened to.
70s. Woot!
80′s? Are you serious? I’m so sorry you feel that way. Haha. I’d say the 60′s/70′s. Nothing can beat classic rock!
NOT the 80′s dan…
The 70′s were pretty rawkin.
60′s, no doubt.
70s
I like the 80′s too Dan…
The 50s and 60s.
I like it all, Pink Floyd, the British invation, techno, classical.
Well, i take that back, I don’t don’t the backstreet boys type. *blelck*
For rock, definitely the 70s. Styx, Kansas, REO Speedwagon, Blue Oyster Cult, Led Zeppelin, Steve Miller Band….. I miss my old LPs.
20s-40s, then the 60s-70s
1640
I don’t think you can just choose the best year. I have found favorite songs from almost every year.
60s.
when was Mozart?
apart from that… now is pretty good, I’d say. Although I like the Beatles. And, a little further back in time, I gather David was a crack lyricist.
80s
60′s and 70′s. Old School rock is the best.
70′s or 90′s.
Now! …for CCM, at least…
40′s Bebop
70′s for styx, and reo speedwagon….I think the beachboys were the 50′s or 60′s, and definately the 90′s for some of the more kick ass groups that came out. NO not britney spears of any of -that- crap. Relient K…hell yes.
90′s…. hahaha. uhm. not really.
60s/70s ish..
I agree, I totally love the 80s.
The 70′s man.
def 70s
the 80′s /early 90′s. then music died and went to hell.
60s
90s
1965-1975–that’s ten years, so it works.
60-70′s
60′s. I can understand where you’re coming from, though; after all, the 80′s gave us U2!
10′s
What kind of question is this?
60′s, of course.
30′s and 40′s with swing and big band and dixieland
Definitely the 70′s or 80′s.
70s
i love music from all times so…theres not really a best.my faves are 50′s,60′s,70′s,80′s new wave, and 90′s alternative.
The 1980s without a doubt. The 90s sucked and the first decade of the new century has started off slowly.
I really dig 90s garage bands like Nirvana, Weezer,Oasis, and more
You’ve done this question before you cheater! 70s
You’ve done this question before you cheater! Two words: Free Bird 70s right?
I agree, the 80′s. Or the 60′s. Today’s music (of the indie-rock persuasion) is good also, but maybe I’m biased.
SIXTIES!!!!!!!
For rock, the 70′s.
For real music, the mid 1700′s.
20s, 60s, or 80s
And you’ve done this question before…
The 2140s have some of my favorites musical compositions. How long until a post about whether it is appropriate to use an apostrophe or not when showing the plural of a number such as 80s.
Now.
60′s or 70′s…
Anything but the 80′s…
60s or 20s
Late 60′s…..awww yeah. But there will always be a special place in my heart for 80′s music.
80s
SIXTIES
’60s or ’90s
’60s through ’80s…loved ‘em all.
’77 and ’82. Punk and Hardcore.
My favorite music comes from the 50s and 60s, but I’m really also fond of the 70s too…all the political innuendos are so clever…and so meaningful… 80s music kinda hurts my ears and my brain (because it’s pretty lame) and by the time you get to the 90s and today’s music, it’s all already been said.
Mozart and such.
For rock, I’d have to say, the classic rock era, and some 90′s rock. Country, I’ll say late 90′s and now.
Overall music? It’s a tie between ht 60′s and the 80′s. But, I personally pick-and-choose various bands/artists between those decades and the 90′s. Like Bob Dylan from the Sixities, David Bowie from the 80′s, and one-hit-wonder bands like Deep Blue Something from the 90′s! Yay!
the 90′s were awesome for One-Hit-Wonders, weren’t they?
That is a hard one!
The 60′s were classic, but the 50′s saw the beginnings of rock into the lexicon, with acts like Little Richard and Fats Domino…. but then the 70′s were such a great decade for songwriting and rock… of course there is jazz of the 20′s and 30′s…. and then again, I have a special place in my heart for the music of my teenage years, the 90′s…
There is no best decade, they were all great!
Sixties, of course.
90′s
i like the music NOW..but when looking at the past, i like the 80s also =]
Today and tomorrow.
80′s!!!!!!
90′s rage against the machine!
Re-united once more for a final concert….
Someone tell me if they are together for good (as the rumors go and as I would like to hear) or if this is just for a concert (as logic goes and as I read).
Derek
The 80s? Are you serious?
The sixties and some of the 70s.
And we actually have some really good bands right now, too.
Hmmm….cuz I’m cool I’ll say the 90′s and now. I was born in 88 so have never really listened to much music before then.
70s and 90s but there is some good from each decade and even now they have some good music
Actually, the 80s does have a few bands that I like. I looove David Bowie.
I have to agree about the ’80s
That, or the 40′s/50′s. But those are 2 decades.
60′s…we need more bands like ‘zep.
80′s and early-mid 90′s
I’ll say ’60s since it laid the foundation for all rock music since, but I’m curious as to why you can say ’80s. I mean come on…the 80s…
-Jared
Hey! I like the music now! But that may be because i’m 17.
Now. Because we can still enjoy all the music made in past decades, while enjoying any new music made.
I mean, you couldn’t listen to 90′s music in the 60′s, for example.
If I have to choose just one, perhaps the 1880s.
The 1790s were pretty cool though too.
But how could I forget the 1740s?
I like the music we have now actually
I love 80s music! Always gets me dancing!
Also, have you noticed how many people did not read that post you made about how decades are written without the apostrophe (ex. 80s rather than 80′s)? Ever since I read that, I have remembered the rule.
90′s, but then again, I’m young.
60s and 70s no doubt.
2000′s have been pretty good so far too.
80′s!
How about the entire 1800′s? Just kidding! Man, music just rocks in general.
80s! Yet the songs tend to have the same beat.
’40s… lol
i’d have to say 60s
depends on the type of music
90s?
90s for sure!
1890′s for sure. ;p
The 60′s = The Beatles. End of story.
1820′s. beethoven and schubert. Silly question.
but fun
Well I’ve only lived now and the 90s…ahah. 90s had Seinfeld, so 90s.

My brother Sheridan Cleland has entered the “American Idol” of the directing world- On The Lot. It’s quick, free, easy, and you’re helping out one of my favorite people in the world. What do you have to lose?
I love the 80′s!!!!!!! <3Always, Nary
I really like the 60′s-70′s. There music was really upbeat and catchy.
BEATLEMEN.
The 80s. You know… the 1780s. Mozart’s high point
80′s . . . .you are correct!
The late 60′s early 70′s rock. (though I don’t mind the early 60′s Pete Seeger stuff either…)
That’s hard. But I do wish I were born about forty years earlier, so I could have lived (and remembered) during the Beatles, disco, and Nirvana.
Anything but the 80′s.
I havent been alive long enough to answer.
:]
80′s. Hello, it’s where Madonna and post-disco dance originated!
The 60′s and the 70′s, without a doubt. Maybe the 90′s, but only certain things. Such as Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, anddd Nirvana.
The 80′s? Are you joking? Sure, maybe the 1780′s.
I’d say 70′s maybe early 80′s & late 60′s (LOL) I like all that hippie music! K!

you’ve done this question before you cheater! Two words: Free Bird 70s right? Posted 2/21/2007 1:53 PM by PSUnited1
free bird is the worst song ever when you have to pee and it’s right before the intermission
><
Most popular music from the 1980′s was crap. The underground stuff was good. The less synth, the better…. Personally, I’m more of a fan of stuff from the 60′s, 70′s & 90′s.
60s….today’s music sucks for the most part.
I’m a HUGE 80s fan, Dan. But, I have to say that creative-wise, the 70s were the best. As for addictive, fun, dancing to the music decade….80s. For sure.
70s–80s
clearly the 90′s
60′s!
Heck, yes. Best music, ever!
90s and today
I grew up in the 80′s so I am partial to that era, but I really enjoy the sixties also.
’90s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That’s almost all I listen to still.
80s
Very difficult to choose .. but I’d say the sixties, and the eighties .. Sorry, hard to choose just one.
40′s Big Band.
the 70s. If you can ignore all the disco and stuff, Chicago, Led Zeppelin, Bread, and Simon & Garfunkel all came out of the 70s
The 60′s. That is, the 1860′s.
Each decade had it’s strengths and weaknesses. I don’t see one that dominates.
I completely forgot to comment. I just spammed. Oh, how terrible I feel. 50′s, 60′s, 80′s, and 90′s. That’s what dominates my iTunes.
Do you realize how cool you would be if you posted an entry about my last comment? You’d be The Man. I’d pretty much love you forever. He has an amazing talent that shouldn’t go to waste, and this could be his big break.
I’m gonna have to go with the 1910s, or possibly the 1840s.
70/80s…mainly the rock music
60s.
I like the 60′s and all, Hendrix and Led Zepplin are great…but I’m a 90′s guy.
80s!
my conscious says 60s, but my inner child says 90s
definitely not the 80s…
EIGHTIES
AMEN
I’ve seen this one before.
It depends who you ask……
sometime in the 1500′s
I know you did this before. I still can’t pick just one. There are so many songs from early on to present. How could I just choose one decade?! Then too, like above (name?) said that there is secular and Christian Contemporary to consider. Then all the styles of music. The sorting could go on for ages!
60′s. there’s no argument to that.
1780′s, no question. Mozart owns. There is nothing in the world of popular/rock/recent music that can ever hold a candle to the complexity and intricacies in his writing. Much of that music wouldn’t be around if it weren’t for him. In the long run, the catchy little tunes you hear on the radio will fade into time…they aren’t masterworks built to last over centuries.
But Mozart? I guarantee you it will always be around.
I would say the “50′s” …
As in the 1750′s when Mozart, Bach and Beethoven walked the earth.
Can you imagine being alive at that time?
I’m a child of the 70-80′s, but really, what era can come close?
2000′s: Rebirth of the Singer/Songwriter Genre (Norah Jones, John Mayer, Corinne Bailey Rae, John Legend)
ah, your incessant questions. the creation of rock music into the 60s, 70s..everything is unoriginal now, and the material is weak.
70′s and 80′s
For rock the 1960s.
The 60s and 80s had the most character from a music standpoint. I feel like most of the music from the 70s was just roaring guitar screamy songs. In the 60s you have the Beatles and the 80s was just fun music.
I wouldn’t say there’s a single best decade…
My favorite period of music would have to be the 1960s to the (early) 1990s.
Of course, If I had to choose one decade, I’d choose the 80s.
For pop music-The 60s
For alternative music-now
It seemed to get more…*clears throat*…odd from the 80s on down, so I’m going with the 70s.
~MsBlink
i have no idea…but if i could make my own decade of music it must have the clash, the beatles, disney songs and abit of j-pop(cuz i like ittt)….ooo and more indie….too bad australia isnt really into indie much cuz i lurv it
20′s, jazz, people did music back then for the love of the music, not to get rich and famous like they do now
The 90′s!! Vanilla Ice…Ice Ice Baby…need I say more? yes? well then MC HAMMER 2 Legit 2 Quit baby! Plus Nirvana, Creed, Mariah Carey, NKOTB, Whittney Houston (before the drugs), so many more. Tune to Channel 9 on XM for more info!
Idk yo, 90′s or 60′s fuck if i know actually.
The 70′s… the 1770′s… j/k…
60′s or 80′s
any decade that we’re in. new all the time. there is always something magnificent going on.
Possibly the 1780s, or maybe the 1830s. Or, also, possibly the 1930s or 1960s, but we’re not far away from those decades to really take a good look back without nostalgia influencing our decisions. But I vouch for the 1780s. Hayden, Mozart, Beethoven. Can’t get much better than that.
60s and 80s
Its a tough call between the 70′s and the 80′s. but i’m a true generation X’er thats for sure.
The 80′s! It’s all about the big hair and fishnets!
then again, the 80′s had A Flock of Seagulls…nah, it’s still the 90′s!
all i knnow is that right now, pop music sucks
1960s for rock, 1830s for Austrian waltz and polka. Man that was a bithin’ decade. Go Johann Stauss!
DEFINITELY the 1960s. The 1950s and 1970s were good too, but the 1960s take the cake.
60′s
Beatles Love.
and 80′s too.
Totally the 80s!!
60′s.
80s!
70′s!
90′s!!

I can’t possibly pick just one decade as having the best music. I can find wonderful music in every decade!

Idk yo,
90′s
or 60′s
fuck if i know actually.
60′s.
80s!
70′s!
90′s!!
I’m so bizarre. =]
I can’t possibly pick just one decade as having the best music. I can find wonderful music in every decade!
late 80′s – early 90′s
20s-40s and the 80s
i love the 80s the best
freaking 90s man, it was aaaallll about the 90s.
