  • Academy Awards

As I am watching the Academy Awards tonight, I notice that Al Gore has received two nominations for Oscars for his movie “An Inconvenient Truth.”  And then I listened as Leonardo DiCaprio, spoke such great words to describe Al Gore and his efforts to save the World from global warming.

Then Al Gore responded with a statement about the Academy Awards having worked global warming concepts throughout the program.  He then mentioned that with each one of us doing a little we can do a lot.

Am I the only one annoyed when rich people with private jets, large SUV’s and limousines lecture me about doing a little bit to save the environment?

  • totally annoyed

  • come by the site once in a while

  • wow, you’re fast to post these things…

  • Does htat look kike a rented Tux to you????

  • Eddie Murphy was robbed.

  • and the difference between actors and politicians lecturing is?…

  • yesterday, i got second. today i got third. nice.

  • ha.  nope, you’re sure not!

  • i’m annoyed too. but some of those rich people are actually trying to save the world. and uh… they sure do donate a lot of money to save the world.

  • Definately not.

  • Haha, nope, you’re not alone!

  • Yeah, ain’t that the truth.

  • Nah, you’re not alone, Dan.

    Poof to them.

  • No. But he does something to help anyway. Do we actually know that Gore has “private jets, large SUV’s and limousines?” I’ve never read anything about it, so I’m pretty clueless about that.
And am I the only person who starts swearing when I see Hummers, and feels like the owners should be burned at stake?

  • So true! Don’t even get me started.

  • you aren’t alone. However, for there to be no rich is downright socialist so what are you really proposing?

  • Trust me, that bugs me too.

  • Al Gore invented the environment!

  • Hell, same way I’m tired of priests talking about marriage and gay preachers talking about being cured.

We live in a crazy world of hypocrites.

  • Bah….if global warming is real, then Al Gore’s big nose (and big ego) caused it….

  • will you stop crying?

  • nooooooooooo

    haha “Al Gore’s big nose”!!

    Stupid fake global warming..

  • My aunt works for an agency that rents planes out to the rich and famous…she says that most of the stars who order the planes are quite wasteful and sometimes have awfully mean catty attitudes when they talk to her on the phone to book a flight.

so yeah, I get annoyed when stars say things like that.

  • no, BUT that doesn’t make the message any less important.

  • Amen, brother Dan. As irresponsible as man can be, he cannot destroy what God has created. He simply does not have the capacity. Period. End of debate.

  • We’re LUCKY that there are rich people trying to get everyone to save the world.
If the only people who cared about global warming were average joes, no one would give it a second thought.
It’s like, which is better: a rich guy who’s oblivious, or a rich guy who’s concerned?  They’re both annoying because they’re rich, but at least one takes a stand for something besides himself.

  • I am not about to watch one rich person to another pat each other on the back….I see that enough where I live….anyway it is annoying and they are paid way too much that it is an utter joke and the money could go to a better place…..what about some ppl who work their ass off just to get caught up…..and many more….the world is one sick messed up place where priorities or not placed correctly and everything is uneven…wake me when it’s over.

  • Yes. If you are going to advocate this live it. My pickup up has a lot less environmental impact than the power that he uses to air condition and heat his house or to fly in a private charter rather than in coach.

Why is there such an attack on SUVs and not on people using AC? At least in cost the AC is much higher and is amost completely elective. When I lived in MS and La, we never airconditioned because then you would not go outside becuase it was so much nicer in the house. Now we live in PA and we have used our AC less than four weeks over the past 10 years and generally that was becusae we had company who could not “cope” with the heat.

I have no problem with anyone using AC, but don’t lecture me about my pickup when you heat to 68 F or use AC.

  • With that said, the actions of the messenger do not invalidate his message.

  • Not at all.

My favorite is about poverty, particularly when they focus on poverty in other countries.

  • no I pretty much hate it too… Al Gore is as dumb as they come

wasn’t he the one who said something along the lines of “It’s not pollution that harming us, it’s the impurities in our air and water”…

am I the only who gets annoyed when phonies get constant praise from idiots?

  • hell no.

  • “Do we actually know that Gore has “private jets, large SUV’s and limousines?”

Yes we do know that and have for a very lone time.

  • Al Gore does have private jets because he is rich,
but he has this sort of way of giving back to the environment as much as be puts out so he in general is beneficial.
He realizes that there are some things that he does which hurt the environment, things that are necessary, so he finds other ways to help. Trust what I’m saying here.

  • everyone should be annoyed at everyone. name one person who isnt a hypocrit. Those who are completly correct in their words are the biggest hypocrites. You preach a pure truth, but a pure truth is impossible to live.
    Derek

  • You don’t miss your Hannity.

  • Yes. But usually the ones who are telling us to do our part aren’t the ones with the big SUVs and stuff.

  • PunkAssNothing is right. ‘Specially when the hummers have “support the troops” stickers..

  • no, you’re not the only one.

man, als not lookin so good…

  • hahah yes. the funny thing is everyone’s suddenly paying attention to global warming bc of the warm year we just had, when it really had nothing to do with global warming. it was actually bc of some freak year.

  • You’re not the only one. I promise.

  • Something just ain’t right about him…………….hmmmmmmmmmm………..

  • No, you’re not the only one. I have to admit though…if I had that kind of money I would probably act just like they do!

  • No. Regardless of who we are, we should all do our bit to do something about the environment.

And AL GORE WON THE OSCAR! Woot!

At least this time, he got voted for something, and will actually get to enjoy it! No Supreme Court to take away his Oscar – at least I hope not!

    Good night.

  • Al Gore is an inconvenient goof.

  • It’s like, which is better: a rich guy who’s oblivious, or a rich guy who’s concerned? They’re both annoying because they’re rich, but at least one takes a stand for something besides himself.

    Very well put.

  • No Dan, you are not . .

  • It seems plenty cold out to me.  We made a snowman tonight, my brother, his girlfriend, and I.

But yes, it bothers me when they preach.  Especially when they’re in sunny warm weather and not actually by snow.

  • no you’re not.

    yeah
    ! a new video!

  • “but he has this sort of way of giving back to the environment as much as be puts out so he in general is beneficial.”

    Wow some people believe anything

  • at least he’s getting us aware of ManBearPig

  • didnt most of the people drive there in like. hybrids?

  • No, you are not.

Those people buy a hybrid car with their spare change and then claim to be protecting the environment even though they never actually drive them.

  • hahaha i never thought about that..

somebody looks like they have gained weight..

  • I’m not voting for him anymore. He’s fat

  • No, you’re not the only one.

  • haha same here. they have like 30 hummer limos and jets so they can drive around to talk about saving the world.

  • Algore looks like a zit about to pop.

  • I am extrememly annoyed by the entire thing…the whole global warming issue is annoying…do these people even know science!!!!

  • I thought Al Gore invented the internet.

    *sarcasm*

  • I agree.  The man should look in the mirror.

  • yea. kinda fucking annoying.

  • hahaha, nice point

  • Boy do you have a point!

  • If that’s true, then for his hypocrisy, he should be lumped in the same category as Michael Moore.

  • It’s definitely annoying and hypocritical.

  • hahahahaaaaaa……..finally, someone said it.

  • wow. how affirmed i am that i didn’t watch. yes, gag me.

  • You are not alone. In producing the longest Academy Awards in years they used enough electricity to light several cities for several days. That really sounds green to me. A truly green show would just simply announce the winners and then leave, everybody loading up in vans that hold 15 or more people. I didn’t see very much mass transit when the stars arrived. Quit lecturing us and start reading real science.

  • Does Al Gore have a private jet?

  • They are nothing but hypocrites, and gore is the biggest one

  • I don’t like Al Gore.

    At all.

  • Al Gore Showed up in a Hybrid Prius.

  • No… I have been saying this for a long time.

  • yes, you are.

  • I’m sure Al and Tipper and everyone involved with “An Inconvenient Truth” showed up in stretch limos like everyone else. I’ll bet they didn’t even carpool.

  • If this is the best that he can do, then I supose we should be glad that he is doing something… But it is annoying. Maybe he should party less…and “invent”something to help…I mean, its been a long time since he finished the internet.

  • WOW…Is it my imagination…or has his nose gotten bigger?

  • i think it was stupid to let his documentary win anything. he just sickens me.

  • I think global warming is a load of crap.

  • Pointing to what someone else might do better to help the environment is like saying, “I don’t have to confess my sins because that other person is a worse sinner than me.”

We should all take responsibility for the impacts of our own actions. If someone has “big impact” items like a private jet, SUV, or limosine, then he should also be doing “big impact” things to help the environment. In spite of all his flaws (which are many), isn’t that exactly what Al Gore is doing … offsetting his big negative impact on the environment with an even bigger impact to help?

The earth is God’s artwork and our home (during this life). It’s a shame to Christians that the liberals are doing more to care for God’s creation than Christians are.

  • Don’t even get me started… grrrrrrrr

  • ha ha, you are so right.  When I see Al Gore riding a bicycle, I’ll start paying attention to him

  • they should practice what they preach..so yeah, it’s kind of annoying but. then again, we need to take what they say and listen to it.. because even if they fly their jets to the corner store….. they are right and things need to change

  • Nope. I agree! Especially when it could be our money they are using!

  • i can’t stand any politicians. they are all lying, egotistical , condecending, eat at the public trough, bastards !  none of them could hold down a real life job if they had to.

  • You should see Team America.

  • No – it annoys me also.

  • You’re not the only one.  If it were really such a big deal, they’d live radically different lives (so I would think).  But you can’t even notice the difference.  I guess this is on par with the “hypocritical Christians” people always complain about.  I’d like to note that if I believed global warming were actually a real threat, I’d change my actions regardless of what celebrities did.

Don’t assume that celebrities always put their money where their mouth is.  They don’t.

  • so many haters!  sheesh!  whether you believe in global warming or not, whats the harm in trying to conserve some energy?  i am sure he is not fully green but who really is?  its borderline impossible to be completely green but every little helps.  dont you think?  why are people so against being nicer to our planet?  i have never been a fan of al gore but i do like what he has taught many people in this world.  without his voice i dont think this movement would be where its at.

  • Nope, you’re not the only one, trust me.

  • You’re not the only one, it pisses me off too.
But then again, i don’t know, it’s kind of fun being totally hypocritical. *sarcasm intended*

  • NoOoOoOoPpPpPpPpPeEeEeEeEeE! !Q!

  • I’m not annoyed at all; at least HE brought it to our attention!  If he didn’t have the money, then there wouldn’t have been such extensive research on the subject.

Time to get over being jealous of someone’s good fortunes and look at the bigger picture; the environment and global warming.

  • If you are going to get miffed at Al Gore’s minor hypocrisies, just think of the good he is doing.  Limo or no limo, hes still making change in the world.  You should quit looking at it as lecture and take it as advice.

  • It bothers me more when regular people think that’s how most celebrities live like that.

  • It really bothers me.  That’s what is so impressive about Ed Begley, Jr!  He drives his little hybrid even to the Sundance Festival.  I was impressed with that.  btw, I discovered that the stars were given in their swag a Get Clean Starter Kit from Shaklee.  I was so excited to hear that!  http://www.ecofriendlyhome.net  It’s nice to get a good companies name out there like this.

  • no you are not the only one. but i would take the term ‘rich’ out of that sentence since i know lots of folks who spend $$ they don’t have to rent SUVs and limos in order to show off. there should be no SUVs unless they are taxed and tolled at truck rates, since most of them are built on truck chassis…. there should be a much higher minimum MPG standard set for vehicles, and anyone wishing to buy a low MPG-rated vehicle should have to pay substantial surcharges annually for the priviledge.

  • Aw sweety, if you want to say that Gore is being hypocritical, I’d like some factual proof…

  • You have no idea how much it annoys me!

I get so annoyed by one of my neighbors. He owns a Hummer aka GasHog. He also owns a body building place and makes a great deal of money. Just because you have a crap load of money doesn’t mean you should spend it on cars that are “cool” and use copious amounts of gas. I hate HATE HAAAATE that. I own a car that has reasonable gas mileage and I don’t drive it that often. I hate celebs that have huge, gas guzzling cars and then they preach about how we should all be aware of “global warming.” Bah!

    Stupid hypocrites.

  • AKA. We don’t know that about him.

“It bothers me more when regular people think that’s how most celebrities live like that.”

Right on! Every single fucking time a celebrity wants to stand up for a cause, people attack them like they’re monsters. You have no idea if they’re truly being hypocritical. Just leave it alone. Stop attacking them because you want to avoid the serious issue.

People, you don’t need to be democratic or even liberal to want to change global warming. It’s a matter of us treating our world the way it needs to be. It’s not like if you don’t want to take part in it, then we’ll lose and you guys will win. If things continue, EVERYONE in future generations will kind of… well, die out. Even those who want to deny it’s truth.

    Honey, open your eyes.

  • “When I see Al Gore riding a bicycle, I’ll start paying attention to him”

When I see him in a hummer, I’ll STOP.

Ugh. You guys don’t see everything these people do. You can’t assume they’re all hypocrites. Relax, take a deep breath, and stop denying this serious matter.

  • al gore sux balls.

  • Ahhh that’s such a good point. Oh the hypocrisy.

  • take it with a grain of salt.
could YOU get the environmentalist message on national television?
i think not, even if you had a private jet

  • everyone who is accusing these people of being hypocrites should stop.
how do you know how hard politicians work?
prove to me that if you had that kind of money you wouldn’t spend a lot of it on yourself.

  • I can’t believe the amount of people who think that Al Gore has done nothing to help the environment. Just spreading the word has done so much! Someone from my own city here in NB, Canada, went to train with Al to help spread the message that we need to take better care of the planet. He has had a far reaching impact, and mobilized more people than any person without money would be able to do.

Just because someone has money is no reason to ignore their message and think that they’re ruining the world with how they live, nor are you justified in being excessive because you think someone is worse than you are. We all live on this Earth, we all have a responsibility to do whatever we can to take care of it.

  • hey did you know that while Al Gore flew around promoting his movie, his private Jetstream probobly created more polution than his movie prevented

  • OMG! EXACTLY!

i was just saying that yesterday about how if he wants to promote stopping global warming, i don’t think his jet is helping that.

    stupid government people.

  • Visit Drakonskyr’s Xanga Site!
Hell, same way I’m tired of priests talking about marriage and gay preachers talking about being cured.

We live in a crazy world of hypocrites.
Posted 2/25/2007 9:11 PM by Drakonskyr

    amen to that

  • Right there with you, man.

  • “hey did you know that while Al Gore flew around promoting his movie, his private Jetstream probobly created more polution than his movie prevented”

Uhm, hate to break it to you, but “probobly” not.

  • annyoed, I agree to that.

  • Actually, I think Gore drives a hybrid. Or at least he drives on in An Inconvenient Truth. But I know someone that’s probably going to key a hummer next saturday.

  • Since he wasn’t popular with voting Americans……..I think he’s just doing all this “green campaigning” to be popular among the celebs. He is obviously deprived of something in his life.

  • I can add to Drakonskyr….our pastor went on a cruise with hundreds of other pastors and their wives.  Our denomination’s leadership footed the bill.  The cruise was to discuss how they can better put the vision of missions in front of their churches and raise more money for the overseas ministries.  Does that sound wierd to anyone else?

  • I’d say not, lol.  It reminds me of when I was in Kyoto last summer… I was in a part of the city, called Gion, where all the ancestral buildings were… like, streets lined with the original buildings from centuries past, it was totally mythical. And there, sitting right in the middle of the stone-pathed street, is a big, fat, gas-guzzling Hummer!!! I mean, you don’t even SEE full-sized trucks in Japan, much less HUMMERS!!! It was the most… disturbing thing.  Anyway.  Let’s pull a Cinderella and give Al the benefit of the doubt… maybe he drove a smart car to the ceremony, and that his oh-so-shiny shoes are faux-leather from k-mart.
