Taking Pictures with Tigers
A 6-year-old girl was killed by a tiger at Yuantongshan Zoo in China. The little girl was placed next to the tiger with her mom and four other relatives for a picture. The tiger attacked the girl after the flash went off. Here is the link: Link

Considering the stupidity of the average human and the time period for which people tend to retain information, I think these idiots will continue to die with no end.
A six year old Chinese girl? I doubt the chinese care since women do not matter to them and they have a few billion of them anyway.
I think the entire population of China would have to suffer that fate before people got it. Which is sad, really. Firstly because the world is so numb that we don’t notice anything other than climbing death tolls (which then deems an event important) and secondly because we’re messing with wild animals. Why don’t we just leave the damn tigers alone an let them get back to doing whatever tigers do?

I saw that in a chinese newspaper too….so many people got pics taken with that tiger. some kid even sit on it

My god, that is so sad. I mean yeah, that was a stupid mistake to make but it WAS a mistake and everyone makes them. God, a 6 year old…that’s too young to die.
But I don’t think the tiger should be killed for the attack. Animals have reactions, it’s not that bizarre of a concept. It isn’t evil for what it did, it just reacted on instinct. Two deaths does not make justice.

That is so stupid…and tragic. Stupid adults…tragic for the little girl. I’m sure it was very painful for her. Poor baby. Stupid adults.
My FIL forced my SIL to pose with a homeless man on Hollywood Blvd. Not exactly a tiger, but still…unpredictable. I was so angry I grabbed her arm and marched her back to the car. I couldn’t believe a father would put his young daughter in that position. And not only the danger factor, but the demeaning that went on with that homeless man. My FIL is an ass. Really.
What a sad tragedy….. but I doubt it will stop.

it will happen as long as people do not see that animals are not objects but beings who have a completely different thought process than we do. It is sad about the little girl. I also hope they don’t kill the tiger, but I hope they don’t ever stupidly let people sit on it or whatever for pictures.
It won’t stop. People will be over protective of their children when they want to go down the street to get a candy bar for years, but will plop them down next to something that is known to go beserk and kills things when it gets upset.

I would expect them to have some sort of tranquiliser near by. But a good knock on the head probably worked before.

My guess is that people do this sort of thing all the time. I keep thinking of what happened to Roy (or Siegfried, I can’t remember who the Tiger bit). His tiger bit him after several years of working together. This is tragic.

That’s so sad and yet so easily preventable….don’t put your children, or any human, really, next to, near, within reach of, etc., a wild animal. The real tragedy here is that the article said it’s unknown whether or not the tiger has been killed for the attack. What the crap? It’s not the animal’s fault! Why should it be punished for acting on a natural animalistic instinct? So…so…stupid. I guess many posters are right. Natural selection.

Okay, so I will now admit that I jumped at the opportunity to have my photo taken holding a lion cub a number of years ago. Granted he was a cub, but probably 25 lbs, with claws and teeth and all that. I think we like to think we are more special than we are – that’s our problem.

Stupid parents. Little kids are the same size as tigers’ and similar animals’ natural prey. They’re always going to have a strong instinct to attack kids - I don’t care how long they’ve been in captivity.

I am surprised the family has a six year old girl in the first place. Usually if a girl is born, they put her on the side of the road after she is born or take her to an orphanage to get rid of her in the hopes they will have a boy the next time. Chinese are limited to one child per couple and the much preferred sex is a boy. I have a cousin who has adopted two Chinese girls from China who were in an orphanage there, unwanted by their families.

i have a friend that lives about an hour away from me, and last year one of her friends was getting her senior pictures taken with a tiger at this nearby “animal sanctuary”. Well I can’t remember all the details, but for some reason the girl screamed and it scared the tiger, and he swiped his paw at her head and it killed her. I think people should realize these animals aren’t tame. They are wild. If you are going to take a picture with one, you’re taking your own risk.
When I vacationed in Thailand they had similiar money making situations; you could take pictures with leopards, tiger cubs, chimps, etc. Of course safety is the first and foremost issue as we all know animals can act out… that’s why they’re called WILD animals… no one can tame them! But besides the safety issue it was heartbreaking to see the animals being treated horribly. There was a “zoo keeper” who kept on yanking and semi beating this chimp who couldn’t enough visitors to take pictures! Since it is China I doubt anything will be done; they’ll make a quick buck anyway they can! My parents are from China and they’ve said repeated that the Chinese population will make money any way they can
