  • Homeless

I was in this situation recently so I want to throw it out to you.  I had a homeless guy ask me for money.

We talked for awhile and he told me he was a fireman during 9/11.  He told me that he was there when the towers fell and that he worked at the site for 28 days.  He said he caught cancer from working at the cleanup of the site.  He said he had three months to live.

His story was difficult to believe.  But he was pretty convincing as he was telling it.  I spent about an hour and a half speaking to him.  He said he needed gas money to get back to another state.  He wanted $130 to pay for the gas.  He said he couldn’t take a train because he had to take his car back.  I had more than $130 in my wallet.

Would you give the homeless guy the $130 for the small chance he might be telling the truth?

  • Toddler Swimsuit

Here is a message I got in my message box:

I have a question that I would like other’s opinions on. I have a 9 month old daughter (her picture is on my site, she’s super cute) and I bought her a two piece swimsuit for this summer. It has a ruffle on the bottom and a triangle top with butterflies. I could send you the picture if you would like. Anyway, her father has decided that there is “no way in hell” she is going to wear it. He says that a two piece bathing suit is too revealing and even though she has nothing to reveal now she will someday and he wants to set a precedent. He said that parenting should be black and white and there is no reason why you can’t establish a rule when a child is 1 year old and it stand until they are 18. I usually give on his “rules” (example: She can’t wear clothes that say anything on the butt), but this one is a little over the top for me. What do you think?

Is it inappropriate for a toddler to wear a two piece swimsuit?

  • Jesus

A little controversy is being made about a tomb that was discovered.

The Christ Family? In Talpiot, a suburb of Jerusalem, a tomb ossuary reading 'Maria,' in Hebrew was discovered near an ossuary reading 'Jesus, son of Joseph'

A few people are claiming it was the grave of Jesus.  Here is the link:  Link

James Cameron, the director of the movie Titanic, is claiming that he has proof that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene and that they had a son called Judah.  Here is the link:  Link

I personally thought she was funny tonight.

  • Academy Awards

As I am watching the Academy Awards tonight, I notice that Al Gore has received two nominations for Oscars for his movie “An Inconvenient Truth.”  And then I listened as Leonardo DiCaprio, spoke such great words to describe Al Gore and his efforts to save the World from global warming.

Then Al Gore responded with a statement about the Academy Awards having worked global warming concepts throughout the program.  He then mentioned that with each one of us doing a little we can do a lot.

Am I the only one annoyed when rich people with private jets, large SUV’s and limousines lecture me about doing a little bit to save the environment?

  • Eulogies

Australia’s Catholic Church has given new rules concerning eulogies at funeral masses.  They do not want people mentioning sex or drunkenness.  Apparently some people giving eulogies would focus on the deceased’s ability to drink or ”romantic conquest.”

The move was made to “ensure the funeral mass keeps its main focus as an act of worship to God and a place for prayers for the deceased.”  Here is the link:  Link

Would you rather go to a funeral that focused on the deceased or on God?

  • Poverty

The gap between the rich and the poor is growing.  The U.S census data report indicates that 16 million Americans live in poverty.  Poverty is defined by a “family of four with two children earning less than 9,903 dollars.”  “Deep poverty” is defined as an “income under 5,080 dollars a year.”

I can’t imagine how a family of four could even make it on 9,903 a year.  Here is the link:  Link

Do you really think there are 16 million Americans making less than 9,903 a year?  (Bonus points:  What can be done about it?)

  • Taking Pictures with Tigers

A 6-year-old girl was killed by a tiger at Yuantongshan Zoo in China.  The little girl was placed next to the tiger with her mom and four other relatives for a picture.  The tiger attacked the girl after the flash went off.  Here is the link:  Link

How many people have to be killed by wild animals before people stop having their picture taken with them?
