IM
When talking about instant messaging, I always pronounced the phrase “IM” as “I’m.” I pronounced it as one word. Then I talked to someone on the phone one day and he said “I-M.” In other words, he pronounced it as two separate letters. He would say “I” “M.”
How do you say “IM?”

Two letters. Heh.
I.M. Two separate letters.
But AIM is pronounced “aim”.
i usually say aim, because that is my instant messanger of choice, however if i were to use the generic term it would be i.m., not i’m.

I never say it, and try not to think about it at all.

I usually do that with everything, with rare exceptions like “PIN” Number..

I M
Two letters. I think you’re the minority, Dan.
hahaha back in the days of the 16-bit AOL 2.5 I was always confused when someone in a chat room would say “Hey so-and-so, IM me”. I would always tell them, “Hey, I’m me too!” I never got it until I started using instant messages. I’ve said “I-M” ever since.
I am.
one word and two words.. weird huh? sometimes I go.. I’m iming someone.. but some time I say, I I M ed you..?
I don’t know..
j
I – M
your both wrong, its I.M. – for instant messaging
It’s pronounced: EIE – EM. It’s an acronym for Instant Message, so it wouldn’t be morphed into one word.
I-M
I-M
And A-I-M
I – M
I-M or A-I-M
I-M
Two letters.
Two seperate letters.
But usually I call it msn.
I-M
Definitely I-M. I didn’t know anyone pronounced it differently!
“I-Em,” like “I am.”
I-M
I-M. But if I’m talking about AIM, I say it aim. not A-I-M. Hmm, that’s kind of weird now that I think about it…
As two seperate letters “I” “M”
I-M.
yahweh
I-M……….it’s an acronym for “Instant Message” lol.
Seperated.
As letters.
and yes, AIM is all one word.
i say I.M. but i prnounce aim like a word not A.I.M.
I-M or the word “aim”, if I’m talking about…AIM.
“I-M” ’cause it’s like initials.
I-M
Candy
Separate letters. To avoid confusion and such.
I-M

Two letters.

Or something like “Omg she “I” “M”ed me.

I say I-M, but my word is useless since everyone said the same thing.

I-M.
I to the M, yo!
It’s definitely two letters. However AOL Instant Messenger is pronounced “aim.” Of course, were I to pronounce IM as one syllable, I’d pronounced it im, as in “him.”
I-M
i normaly say “on messanger” tho some tiems i do say “I – M” (its weird to me to say it tho)
I say I-M, not I’m.
But like I saw someone else comment, it is aim, not A-I-M.
I just say aim.
Eye-em.
“I” “M”
I say it like the letters. But I say “AIM” like the word aim.
Instant Message. In-stent mess-ege
I. M. it’s separate… stands for Instant Messager.
I – M
or more precisely,
AY – EM
HIHI
I AM CROSS HERE TO SEE YOUR XANGA
SO GIVE THE CM YOU
I.M. However! I pronounce America Online Instant Messenger(AIM) as.. aim! or ame!
What about “lol” whenever I type “lol”.. I’m thinking “laughoutloud” in my head.. not L-O-L. Am I the only one who does that??
I-M. I’ve never heard of anyone pronouncing it “I’m”, Dan! Very original.
It gets me weak when people say stuff you type for shorthand that way instead of what it’s short for. For example, I heard a guy say (as in, not type), “L 2 Update people” instead of “learn to…”. /palmface
And it’s I-M.
I don’t use IM or anything like that. I had ICQ 8 or so years ago. All it does is encourage people to interrupt me with important things like, “Hey, what’s up?” “Cool. What are you doing?” “Blah blah blah.”
“I” “M”
Two separate letters, definitely.
I – M
I pronounce separate letters.
I-M as in saying the letters…but it’s kinda confusing when on IM you say im..because it looks like “I’m”..when someone asks “im her” it looks like I’m her…but it means to IM her…
2 letters I-M
Two separate letters.
I. M.
LOL…sorry that’s funny
I-M
I-M
I-M, but i say l-o-l as one word- lol. that bothers the hell out of my friends.

(always in capital letters)
&
I’m — I am
“I-M.”
I just say- Instant Message…
Two different letters
never had to…i think id just say messaged.
It’s an abbreviation, not a word, so I – M is actually the correct way to say it!
I yem.
(Come on, does anybody really separate the two letters with a glottal stop? Well, maybe British people.)
I-M
Two separate letters.
