Medical Marijuana
Democratic Gov. Bill Richardson is going to sign a bill that will make medical Marijuana legal in New Mexico.
It will make New Mexico the 12th state to make marijuana legal for medical purposes. There are those that believe that it could hurt Bill Richardson’s political future since he is running for president in 2008. Here is the link: Link
Would you be less inclined to vote for someone who is running for president if he/she voted to legalize marijuana for medical purposes?

I’d be okay with it.
i would still vote for him.
MORE INCLINED!!
that’s silly…I think it’s a good idea
I really could care less how a person feels about marijuana unless they support making it legal to drive while under the influence…
We’ve totally failed to keep marijuana use and production from becoming widespread. Not just failed somewhat– we’ve failed miserably. For every major bust of 500 plants the cops find, there are 500 people with one plant in their closet, they’re not catching…
The war against marijuana has done nothing but waste millions of dollars in taxpayer dollars every year.
No. I might be *more* inclined to vote for someone who rightly told the federal gov’t to mind their own friggin’ business and let the states decide what is right for their people.
Soon it will be available in suppository form. Good for him!
i think its fantastic
I’m not registered to vote anyway.
No. I think its kind of weird that people who aren’t doctors get to tell doctors which drugs they can prescribe and which they can’t.
I dont think Id let that ONE single thing decide for me. Id have to consider what else he’d bring to the table as president….
This has nothing to do with marijuana. It’s MEDICAL marijuana. Something that a doctor prescribes to you like he does cough syrup. Making an issue out of it is stupid. Doctors prescribe things WAY stronger than marijuana. Like morphine. Nobody writes posts about morphine being legally prescribed. Abused sure. Same with marijuana. As long as its medical only and idiot would make an issue out of it.
I mean honestly. Average politician- Zero years medical training. Average voter- Zero years medical training. Average doctor- lots of years medical training. This issue shouldn’t even be open to politicians or voters. Are those with no medical training going to tell those who do how to act? That’s the kind of stupid. Maybe politicians and voters are high
No. I might actually be more inclined…
No
No
I think I’d be more inclined. If you make it legal, you can tax it and regulate it.
ryc: not bad at all. Hope you forgive the borrowing!
I agree with Building_A_Mystery. I’m for a candidate that supports states rights.
More inclined.
I think marijuana should be legalized period. I do not smoke the stuff… but I believe people have a right to smoke it if they wish. And it would lower the crime rate as well.
less…
I’d be okay with that, I think.
no it would do the opposite.
ultimately, nobody is perfect and there are bound to be loopholes and instances of misuse/abuse. to pretend that those did not exist would be ignoring the issue at hand.
a knife can be used to cut fruits or stab people… it really depends on the user’s intention. after all, drugs are just chemicals, it is the human intention that tells them apart. if there are adequate checks and balances, marijuana can be used to good therapeutic benefit.
i would not be less inclined, i would be more inclined to vote for such a courageous person!
I would probably be more inclined to vote for him. Marijuana can be used very effectively as a medicine for some conditions and as much as we have tried to duplicate it so that the smoking of it is not necessary, we as yet have not been able to achieve such goals. If a patient would be helped by using medical marijuana then I say the doctors should have the option of prescribing it.
Politicians and citizens need to quit making decisions on topics they know nothing about. This Governor is letting the doctors make the medical decisions! I didn’t think that was possible anymore! If a politician can realize that he does not possess all knowledge there is to possess in this world and allow people who do have such knowledge to guide him then he is much more effective.
Anyone can get marijuana. Go to a high school or even a middle school and there will be someone buying or selling marijuana. So……it’s pointless to try and control it. I would vote for him.
No, I wouldn’t be less inclined to vote for him on those grounds. Good on him for stepping up on this issue.
No, I wouldn’t. In fact, perhaps more inclined.

it’s a great idea. I work in biologic regulatory affairs in canada. we produce our own marijuana for medical purposes but it’s strictly regulated. if you study marijuana (common factors such as harm to health, addictive factor etc.), its harm is less than nicotine and alcohol. I’d be more inclined to vote for him.
and yes, mrcolourful and weirdbean.
It’s going well. Best regards!
What about all the other stupid medicines.?
like thalminide sp?
Less inclined? No.
I don’t see a problem with medical marijuana at all. If everyone who hated it had to watch their family member suffer from chemo/hiv nausea taking marinol (thc in pill form) and then throwing up their marinol because it didn’t release in time, they’d have no problem with it.
THC is legal for medical purposes if its in pill form, why not make it in a smokable form that would be easier to ingest for someone that’s nauseated?
If its proven to be a benefit in the health dept, then why not? cigarettes are legal and they pose no health benefits. in my opinion ….cigs should be illegal.
Marinol is probably one of the dumbest drugs. Good job taking drug research money that could have been used for HIV or Cancer or ANY other disease and using it to make ingestable THC.
They’re called pot brownies people!
If anything, it’d be an incentive to vote for him more.
That decision would’nt influence my decision as much as a host of other issues.
I’d be MORE inclined to vote for him.
Hell no Dan…I’d be more inclined to.
Good Morning!!
Candy
I would be more inclined to vote for him
NO
No. I know there would be abuses, and there’s a guy out here who keeps getting “raided” because they think he’s going beyond the scope of the law with his shop, but I also have been a nurse long enough to know that marijuana has its medical uses.
My former BIL used marijuana to help with his neuropathy. I think that is fine to use it for a medical reason, however, what he started to do was sell it to his friends to make a profit, and gave pot to my sister and niece. There are pro’s and con’s to every situation.
I can’t vote and not to be rude, but I couldn’t care less about whether cannabis was legal or not. I don’t think it’s good for you, no, not at all. And I think the liquor and tobacco should always be something that our country holds near and dear, but I seriously couldn’t care less about cannabis. I never want to use it and just don’t care.
Cheers,
m
why can’t they just let us smoke in peace?
New Mexico, here I come!
I’d probably be more inclined to vote for him… I think it should be legal anyway.
Yes.It is cheaper than pain meds, and I know several cancer patients that grow their own.
I mean no… right?
Actually, it would show me they’ve got their head on right and I’d be a little MORE inclined to give them consideration.
Not that I’m on pot or something, but I do support medicinal marijuana.
the vote tally is now 50 to 1 in favor of the ganga…
he legalized it for medical, not experimental purposes. So why wouldnt you? Unless your against Tylenol as well

Yes. I would not vote for one knowing that.
What’s he smoking?
legal or not, people find ways of getting it. The same can be said with gun control, blah blah blah.
Better to be apathetic…and I wasn’t going to vote for him anyway.

As long as it was only for medical purposes. I’d have to see what else he was for or against before voting for him in the presidential election.
Some adults these days….. Anything to do with marijuana is a huge sin, so I think it would definitely hurt him. He must make sure that he highlights all the benifits of it, or else he’s gone.
More inclined, only if it was proposed well with rules on how it could be prescribed, to whom, what for, and the amount. Becaues then everyone and their mother will be using it saying it’s for ‘medical’ purposes.
It should be a difficult prescription to get.
No, I would see that as a good thing.
no
Think of all the money we could make with taxes on weed to educate Iraqi children!
Sell drugs to feed and clothe Muslim babies.
I would vote for that…
It should be legalized for non-medicinal purposes too. Good show, Bill.
maybe
More inclined
I’d be MORE inclined to vote for him, of course. But my understanding is that the cretinous feds have trumped all these state laws, and enforce their stupid War on Some Drugs despite the state’s legal protections.
sweet! i will be far more inclined to support someone that does this! since as has been mentioned it really would save the country a lot of money, which could go to something like education maybe?
I think I would be looking at other issues than just medical marijuana..
if this is is the biggest issue whether or not to elect him than I suppose he may be a good canidate.
I dont think I can make my choice just based on one topic.
I would have to say,..if I had to make a decision that I WOULD vote for him
all people are gonna do is abuse the rules of medical marijuana………seriously. It’s already happening.
I wouldn’t vote for someone who knows it’s not full proof.
we don’t need more things legalized that are impairing people’s judgement.
More inclined.
no impact.
no.
Medical marijuana is stupid.
No.
HELL YEAH
No. Its for medical purposes. Let the poor sick people use it.
No.
bring on the bud
No, in fact if ‘he’ or ‘she’ inhaled, I would be more inclined to vote for them!
No.
hahah
Not significantly. That would not be a make or break issue with me, as it is of little importance. At worst, it is a diversion from things that matter.
I honestly don’t care one way or the other.
Yes.
Nope, it would not make me less likely (or more likely) to vote for him.
No.
