  • Anna Nicole Smith

Authorities are saying that Anna Nicole Smith died of “accidental overdose.”

She was taking a sleeping medication plus eight other prescription drugs.  (This issue was sent to me by distler via the message box).  Here is the link to the article:  Link

I have noticed that all of these stars check into “treatment” centers for getting hooked on prescription drugs.  I have heard that the prescription drugs can give the same high as illegal drugs.

Should someone be asking questions if they are being prescribed 9 prescriptions at once?

  • Of course they should. And celebrities should stop wanting meds just to deal with the fact that they exist in this world.

  • How many doctors prescribed all the drugs??

  • Yes, they should. I would start questioning at three.

Of course Miss. Smith was probably begging for all of those drugs and more.

  • OMG, she’s dead?!?!!!!11! When did this happen?!

  • HELL YES!!! Why didn’t that get caught? What moron was her doctor? Was she seeing Dr. Nick?

  • So would she need a prescription drug that would stop her addiction with prescription drugs?

  • Yes, just a few.

  • I’ll bet there was more than one doctor involved.

  • I want to know why it took them this long to perform the autopsy.

  • I used to work at a pharmacy, and let me say that some prescription drugs are even more dangerous than illegal drugs. Not to say that heroine or coke are good for you or anything, but some pain medication with types of pain medication you can overdose quite easily if you take too much of. We kept these types of meds locked in a safe, and for good reason.

  • Oh how sad. Of course, someone should have figured this out. Her significant other was one of those people.

  • Yeah, definitely
how many of them can really be necessary?

  • Studies have shown that 55% of the time, your doctor misdiagnoses your disease/reason why you are ill.

  • I’ve heard of addicts resorting to drinking bottles of cough syrups to achieve the high. 9 drugs at once is definitely suspicious, an attempt to get high under the guise of making it look legit?

  • depends on what the nine are. And that person prolly went to several different docs to get the scrips. The pharmacists should have noticed tho….

  • I suppose it’s a bit suspicious. . .but I’m sure a number of people have good reason for being on 9 different. . .doesn’t mean they have a problem (I mean they do, or they wouldn’t need all those prescriptions lol, but you know. . .)

  • yeah, pop a few adderal if you want to fly fly FLY. Oxycontin for a warm fuzzy evening.

When I get a pus infection drained I get excited. Awww yeah, tylenol-3 baby, here comes lala land!

She died of a drug overdose. Access to Dr feelgoods do not legitimize drug addiction.

Like Rush. I speak from experience. The prescription facade is just sad. Fleeing from emotions is the same no matter booze, weed, ecstacy, cocaine, crystal meth or adderal.

It’s all feeling things not based on one’s surroundings. At least illegal drugs, people who use them are realistic about the nature of their drug use.

I will tackle this one later on too…

  • they can question but the person being questioned also has the choice to be honest. if you are seeing different physicians and going to different pharmacies how could one know what the other was prescribing/dispensing?

this goes to individual responsibility to be honest with your health care providers

  • Frankly, I think that Stern guy had her pretty drugged up all the time.

  • NO. someone her age, even if she doesn’t act her age, should have the common sense to know not to take 9 prescriptions at the same time, unless doctor deems it completely neccessary. it’s just sad that her baby girl has an idiot for a mother.

  • wait..i read the question wrogn i guess it should be: YES.

  • Just because it was a prescription drug doesn’t mean it was (a) legally prescribed (b) prescribed for her (c) prescribed currently (d) prescribed to be taken with the others.

Not saying any/all of the above are true but, I would think there is a high probability that at the very least, her doctors didn’t know what other doctors were prescribing for her. Or, she held on to old prescriptions and took them in addition to what was currently prescribed. Lots of people do that, thinking it is a way to save money the next time they have a similar illness. Not a good idea, to say the least.

  • although i heard she had a nasty infection in her buttocks from using an infected syringe…. which would’ve killed her later anyywas… that could give way to murder and would a whole ‘nother story.

  • how could a doctor even prescribe her that much?? don’t they check those things???

  • isn’t kind of odd her son died the same way?

  • It bothered me right away that its ruled as an “accidental” OD.  Aren’t all OD accidental?  Is that really necessary?  Its so redundant. Like Marilyn Monroe’s OD wasn’t an accidnt.

Maybe Anna did what a lot of people do; go to several different doctors to get the drugs they want.

  • you would have thought she would have learned her lesson about mixing medications. but it’s not really her fault her doctors are the ones to blame for perscribing them.

  • She was taking a ton of drugs for someone that didn’t have anything dignosed wrong with her.

  • Someone should be asking questions if they are taking more than one.  The interactions of drugs is not something to be taken lightly.  The pharmacist, the doctor, anyone involved in her care (if she wasn’t responsible for herself) should be questioned.

  • I have to think that the people who are answering yes are the people who think that Anna whatever’s death is somebody else’s fault.

  • Um… yeah. Why did no one catch this?

  • I have to think that the people who are answering yes are the people who think that Anna whatever’s death is somebody else’s fault.

I’m not saying it isn’t her fault, but someone should have made her stop if she didn’t want to. The doctor shouldn’t have allowed that many drugs to be taken at once.

  • I still truly think it was an accident…

  • Yeeeah, I’d start to question things when it rose to nine.

  • It is unlikely that 9 perscriptions were authorized by one doctor. It is more likely that several doctors, each unaware of the others, wrote the perscriptions. Being unaware, no one would be tracking whether these perscriptions would interact well together.

  • Should you be obsessing over the causes of some person you do not knows death?

  • Still with the Anna Nicole, I’m over her story.

But not working in a medical profession, I’ve no idea how common that is or isn’t to be on that many meds at that age.

  • Man, when you’re taking 9 different drugs at the same time, all it takes is 2 of those to mix the wrong way and mess you up.

  • Just when I thought we were done with her.. you happened to just bring her back into our lives! ^_^ But if someone is on that much meds… they need help that cant come from meds. Ouch!

  • Ummm…yes.

  • It is amazing what can cause a reaction with common medications, even certain vitamins can negate the effects of medications. It is up to the doctors to keep track of what medications the patient is on, and to monitor their dosages. It will ultimately come down to the person swallowing the pill, but if they are well informed about the side effects they will think twice about combining meds. I was on adderall for about a year, and I wasn’t seeing effects. When I asked my doctor he asked me about my diet, and he told me that certain processed dyes and chemicals can break down the medication before you can even digest it, and after I changed my diet(going for a more healthy and organic route) I noticed the effects of the adderall and have been on it since. anywhosits! that’s all I have to say, we will all miss her!

  • She had lupus though, people with lupus or other autoimmune diseases take a lot of drugs to treat their various symptoms.

It’s important to remember that there was probably a reason for some of the drugs she was prescribed.

Also having a fatty meal right after you take it can effect the absorption into your blood stream.

  • of course you should. you should ask questions about all your meds no matter how many you’re on so that you know what’s being done to your body. People are mostly far too undereducated about their medications

  • well duh! RYC: Yeah I hear you speed too.

  • i think your posts are really interesting, and i think there was more than one doctor for that to happen.

  • i take 3 prescribed controlled substances (i.e. adderal for ADD, xanax for anxiety, and lortab for migraines) on a daily basis when i am not pregnant, only 1, (i.e. valium for anxiety) ocassionally while i am preggers… and you can bet your butt that i always make sure exery doctor i see knows what meds i’m already on, what dose, and how often… to lessen the chances of having a toxic interaction to something.

  • yes! yes!

someone oughta kick that stern dude in the nuts.

  • Yes, prescription drugs do give the same high as illegal drugs.

    Definitely

  • I still say ANS died because of natural selection

  • (I say that because I know people hooked on prescription drugs, not from experience.)

  • It bothered me right away that its ruled as an “accidental” OD.  Aren’t all OD accidental?  ruralhippie

no not all overdoses are accidental…people commit suicide with overdosing intentionally

  • yes, I think it was an accident, I believe she wouldnt have wanted to leave her baby girl.

  • what doctor actually give medication without knowing what other medication a person is on? a lot of ppl put trust in doctors that doctors should recognize and be more responsible about

  • - Trichloroethanol (a sedative and hypnotic)

    - Trichloroacetic acid (treatment of warts, including genital warts)

    - Diphenhydramine hydrochloride (an antihistimine and sedative)

    · Clonazepam (aka Klonopin; used for treating anxiety)

    - Diazepam (muscle relaxant, used for treating anxiety, insomnia)

    - Nordiazapam (sedative)

    - Temazepam (a sedative and hypnotic)

    - Oxazepam (a muscle relaxant and sedative)

    - Lorazapam (anti-nausea, sedative, muscle relaxant)

lucky bitch having all that at the same time.

  • I have a brother that likes to go to several different docs, get different prescriptions for his “ailments,” then go to different pharmacies. None of them know what in the heck he is doing. You know that video of Anna Nicole with the clown make-up on acting strange? Well, that is my brother-minus the make-up. Back in the 70′s he used illegal drugs like the rest of his friends. Now he has become more sophisticated & has moved onto prescription drugs. Same out come — only now his insurance pays for it. His old drug dealers wouldn’t take his drug plan.

  • Yes, they should be asking questions.

& here’s another question : How can they classify Anna Nicole Smith’s death as an “accidental” overdose?

I mean, sleeping pills mixed with 8 other prescriptions is just a death waiting to happen.

  • It seems fishy, doesn’t it…

  • she lost her son days after giving birth to her daughter dani.

i was watching something and she said he was her best friend.

no wonder she was on all of those medications.

let her rest in peace already.

  • I think Building_a_Mystery put it best.

And I agree with RedHairdCelt – “Hi everybody, I’m Dr. Nick!”

  • i guess she just really trusted her doctor… wasn’t she sleeping with him?

  • Yeah, that’s way too many, and for gosh sakes, Chloral Hydrate (“sleeping” medicine that killed her) is given to knock kids out – totally – for some medical and dental procedures.  Why on earth was she prescibed that?  And did noone notice the major abcess and infection raging on her bum?  THREE antidepressants?  Whoever was close to her and supposedly loved her should have had her in the hospital, with her fever that high.  Makes you wonder what she was on while preggers, doesn’t it?  Very tragic, especially for her daughter.

  • i thought all the prescriptions were given to howard and she was taking them.

  • I bet her MD(s) is sweating now!

  • i would def. askquestions. i mean. i would want to die like anna nicole smith

  • Yeah. My aunt got addicted to pain medications a few years ago, and she just recently got clean. She thinks her legal punishment was too harsh, and that she isn’t really a criminal, but honestly, she knew what she was doing when she wrote those prescriptions.

  • That doctor should lose his license.

  • if she’s getting them from more than one doc, that right there is suspicious.
i’d like to think i speak with authority, having heard this from the mouth of a doctor, my father, who is a psychiatrist and a pain-management specialist. fun!
there are so many legal risks for docs just to prescribe them.

  • yeah!!

    charliesgirl_21 (jess)

  • I take around nine prescription drugs that were prescribed to me from a doctor. I don’t use them to get high so it’s not illegal.
I think Anna Nicole Smith was abducted by jealous aliens from the universe parallel to ours because they were badly in need of her saline implants. They were suffering a terrible drought and the saline supply in the local hospitals had been used up. In a desperate attempt to save the dehydrated patients they came to earth bending space and time in the sixth dimension. The aliens searched the earth for the largest amount of saline they could find and carry back in one trip. Much to their surprise they realized the implants in Anna Nicole Smith’s breasts would be enough to rehydrate eighteen third world countries.
Or else she just committed suicide.
Either way, I never liked her much. And think how much she’ll benefit those poor alien children!

  • they wanted her dead …

  • What is wrong with our doctors? there should be some way to cross reference them… it gets so complicated…even if you are smart….

  • In my book this woman was murdered, she was a lost soul just like so many walking dead today.

Just because the meds were legal does not make it ok.

I read she did not suffer and just went to sleep.  I say bullhockey.  There was evidence at the scene in the bathoom of vomiting and her sheets showed signs of physical distress.

The drugs this woman was taking is down right criminal.  The prescribing doctors should be stripped of their medical licenses.

Those so called friends and family enabled her and let her die.

She was a grown woman who ultimately paid the price with her life by making these poor life choices but the entire system had hand in her death too.

  • When U go to the doctor, they ask what U are “currently” taking…

It is your responsibility to inform the doctor.  Not everyone does that, nor do they take their prescriptions the way they are supposed to…

  • Someone on 9 prescriptions doesn’t want to ask why – that’s what the drugs are for.

  • well, lets think here…maybe she went to different doctors with her celebrity status and didnt tell them about the other drugs. wow. imagine that. bending the rules for fame. its a good thing that doesnt happen in the US.

  • Its sad to think that someone so beautiful could be in such pain.  I believe the a— Howard Stern had a lot to do with administering the drug.  Can’t wait to find out who the real father is.  GO LARRY

  • I am currently on 3 medications, and soon It might be a 4th. I have a friend of mine who is 16 and she takes 15 different pills everyday 0_0(she has some bad psychological problems)
