  • Abortion Cards

An organization is creating what they say is the first after-abortion cards.  The cards are for those who have recently had an abortion.  I found out about the issue from RvL1978.

They have created 6 cards for you to send to your friend.

    Thinking of youSympathy

    ReligiousEncouragement

    SpiritualityResources

The cards have various messages.  One says, “As you grieve, remember that you are loved.”  Another says, you “did the right thing.”  Here is the link:  Link  Here is the article:  Link2

Seeing how there are only 6 cards, I thought I would ask you all to photoshop some cards of your own.  I asked happydeviant if she would make one and her is her card:

Here is another one but this person didn’t want to be identified:

If you want to add a photoshopped abortion card, just send me a message.  I will be putting them in my photoblog.

  • Rocky Mountain High

Colorado has just made “Rocky Mountain High” the co-state song.  It has been an unofficial state song for years.  John Denver made the song popular.  He died about 10 years ago in a plane crash.

There are those who thought the song shouldn’t be the state song because they thought the song was about drugs.  Here is the link:  Link

Here are the lyrics to the song:

He was born in the summer of his 27th year
Comin’ home to a place he’d never been before
He left yesterday behind him, you might say he was born again
You might say he found a key for every door

When he first came to the mountains his life was far away
On the road and hangin’ by a song
But the string’s already broken and he doesn’t really care
It keeps changin’ fast and it don’t last for long

But the Colorado rocky mountain high
I’ve seen it rainin’ fire in the sky
The shadow from the starlight is softer than a lullabye
    Rocky mountain high

He climbed cathedral mountains, he saw silver clouds below
He saw everything as far as you can see
And they say that he got crazy once and he tried to touch the sun
And he lost a friend but kept his memory

Now he walks in quiet solitude the forest and the streams
Seeking grace in every step he takes
His sight has turned inside himself to try and understand
The serenity of a clear blue mountain lake

And the Colorado rocky mountain high
I’ve seen it rainin’ fire in the sky
You can talk to God and listen to the casual reply
    Rocky mountain high

Now his life is full of wonder but his heart still knows some fear
Of a simple thing he cannot comprehend
Why they try to tear the mountains down to bring in a couple more
More people, more scars upon the land

And the Colorado rocky mountain high
I’ve seen it rainin’ fire in the sky
I know he’d be a poorer man if he never saw an eagle fly
    Rocky mountain high

    It’s Colorado rocky mountain high
I’ve seen it rainin’ fire in the sky
Friends around the campfire and everybody’s high
    Rocky mountain high

Is Rocky Mountain High about drug use?

  • Coolness

I think my kids no longer view me as the cool dad.  The first sign I had was when we were walking in the mall together as a family.  My oldest son wanted to walk away from the family.  When I questioned him, he told me that he didn’t want his friends to see him with his family.

I reached over and grabbed my son’s head in a head lock and kissed his head about 5 times repeating “I love you.”  I did this in the mall.  He freaked out and poured his water on me to get me to let him go.

The second sign was with my second son.  We went to the park to play basketball tonight.  My second son mentioned that his friends were better at basketball than me.  I told him I could beat his friends at basketball.  He told me that it was only because I was taller.  If I was their height, I would never win.  I assured him that even if I was their size, I could beat them.

I guess they are no longer at the age where they think their dad is the coolest.

  • Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell

I asked the wrong question in my last post.  I made mention of how the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Pace said that homosexuality was immoral.  What I was trying to get at was that Gen Pace’s comments were consistent with the position of the military and government.  Gen Pace has come under fire for his statements but his statements only match the position of the government.

Gen Pace referred to homosexuality as immoral.  He also referred to adultery as immoral.  Both are not allowed in the military.  My thinking is that Gen. Pace is coming under fire for the position of the government.

The military has a policy of “Don’t ask, Don’t tell.”  At some level, the military is saying that there is something wrong with homosexuality.

Does the policy of “Don’t ask, Don’t tell” imply that the U.S. government looks at homosexuality as immoral?

  • Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Part 2

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Peter Pace, said that homosexuality is immoral in an interview Monday with the Chicago Tribune.

    Photo

He compared homosexuality to adultery.  He was answering a question about the military’s “Don’t ask, Don’t tell” policy.  The policy allows gays to serve as long as they keep it private and “don’t engage in homosexual acts.”

Gen. Pace said, “I believe homosexual acts between two individuals are immoral and that we should not condone immoral acts.  I do not believe the United States is well served by a policy that says it is OK to be immoral in any way.”  Here is the link:  Link

Despite all of the uproar about his statements, I am not surprised that this is what he expressed.  It appears to me that his statement is consistent with the policy of the military.  The military has a policy that essentially says “you better not admit you are gay or get caught in a gay act.”  So the official position of the military appears to communicate that the military believes that there is something wrong with homosexuality.

    Is homosexuality immoral?

  • Priest and Nuns

I received a message via the message feature.  I want to reprint a part of that message:

“About an hour ago, I broke up with my long-time, non-Catholic girlfriend so I can follow my call and become a priest.”

Could you give up the opposite sex if you thought God was calling you to be a priest or nun?
