  • Age-Appropriate

I was reading an article about the age-appropriateness of things women do and wear.

The article made reference to a situation where two college age girls were shocked when their aunt pierced her belly button.  Apparently the young girls declared that they would remove their belly rings when they reached the age where they had children.

Another woman was mentioned in the article for her thoughts on older women wearing midriffs.  She thought that women reach an age where they look inappropriate.  Here is the link:  Link

Do women get too old for some styles?

  • Deal Or No Deal?

Republican State Sen. Dan Patrick is proposing that pregnant women who are thinking about getting an abortion should be offered $500 to not get the abortion.  (I got this issue from AristotleForDummies who is in a heated battle against trunthepaige for best commenter in the left column).

Patrick wants the money to be offered so that women will consider giving the baby up for adoption instead.  Here is the link:  Link  The woman would be paid the money no more than 30 days after she has the baby.

Do you think a woman who is going into a clinic to have an abortion would change her mind over $500?

  • Assessing Fat People

I am sitting here watching the Miss USA pageant with my wife.  It wasn’t long ago when the women walked out on the stage in their two piece bathing suits.  I noticed something about each of these women.  All of then were thin.  All of them had what I would consider to be good bodies.  Even though they would probably argue this point with me, not one of them looked like they had a flaw.

The issue is interesting to me because it was just a little bit earlier tonight that I read an article by Neil Cavuto discussing the issue of weight.  Cavuto pointed out that discrimination in our country was accepted if it was against overweight people in a way that it wouldn’t be accepted towards blacks or Jews.  Here is the link:  Link

Just like a judges look at the candidates of Miss USA and make judgements, people make judgements about a person’s weight.  There has been some talk this season on American Idol when it comes to the weight of the contestants.

Is it appropriate to draw certain conclusions about a person who is overweight?

  • Photos On the Internet

I have been thinking about posting my photo on my site again.  It has been almost a year and a half since I posted my photo on my site.  It was in November of 2005.  It is hard to believe it has been that long.  At my age, you feel like you are putting yourself out there when you place your photo on your site.  But I am going to try to find a photographer and get a photo taken.  (Any photographers out there?)

I read a comment just today when I posted on myspace this morning.  Here is part of the comment by http://www.xanga.com/fat_red_chicken

“Though I think posting photos of people in youth activities ain’t so good. You shouldn’t put your photo on the internet…”

Is it a bad idea to put photos of yourself on the internet?

  • Global Warming

A jury has decided that humans are not responsible for global warming.  Here is the link:  Link

Now can we finally put this global warming issue behind us?

  • Banning Myspace

A school in Michigan has banned the use of myspace.  They not only banned it from being used on school property.  They banned it from use at home.  The students and their parents will have to sign an Internet policy that bans myspace.  The policy is called “Think First, Stay Safe.”  (When they give it such a catchy name, it makes it so much easier for the students).  Here is the link:  Link

The youth minister at my church banned the students from using myspace.  He sent a letter home to the parents telling them the dangers of myspace.  The parents applauded his bold move.  All the kids have new accounts now.  I see them on myspace all the time.  I don’t know if the parents or the youth minister know they have them.  But they openly post pictures of youth activities.  In fact, I saw that the youth minister’s son has one.

Can you really ban the use of myspace?

  • Algebra

Without looking at anyone else’s answer, solve for x:

    x + 9 = 18 – 2x

    x = ?

  • Work

Someone came to my site the other day and asked me, “What do you do for a living?  You post multiple times a day and I just wonder what kind of job allows you to do that.”

I thought that was an interesting question so I thought I would throw it out to you.

What do you do for a living?

  • John Edward’s Wife

John Edward’s wife has just been told that she has cancer.

Elizabeth Edwards was treated for breast cancer before and was given a clean bill of health.  This time it is back and it is in the bone.  Here is the link:  Link

  • The Wrong Color

A married couple went to a fertility clinic in order to get pregnant.  The fertility clinic was able to successfully inseminate the woman’s eggs.  She carried the baby for 9 months and then gave birth to the precious little girl.  The only problem is that the baby was the wrong color.  Here is the link:  Link

(The picture is not the actual family from story).

DNA test confirmed that the husband was not the father.  The couple said, “while we love Baby Jessica as our own, we are reminded of this terrible mistake each and every time we look at her; it is simply impossible to ignore.”

Could you raise a baby that was not the same color as you?
