  • wow. this is early.

  • Those are some of the most touching pics I have seen for Memorial Day…truly captures the meaning of the day. Thanks for sharing them.

  • wow great pics

  • what moving pictures….thank you for each person who has fought for my freedom

  • i love the bottom picture.

  • Lovely Memorial Day tribute.

  • Thank you to everyone who has fought for freedom, even back in the Revolutionary War periods. America is a greater country because of all of you.

  • What do we want this nation to be, that people will die for it? What can we work towards that would make that sacrifice worth something…

    To all. All differences aside.

  • that first picture makes me tear up.

    sad.

  • that first one makes me cry..

    thank you to them!!

  • Thanks for the solemn reminder.

  • this makes my heart feel all warm and fuzzy.
    sad, but nice.

  • We remember. With heartfelt thanks, we remember.

  • aww those pictures are so sad!..i would never leave my family for some gay ass war!…this is the reason i wouldn’t be w/ someone in the war!.

  • Growing up in San Diego, CA, driving through the military cemetary use to raise the hair on the back of my neck due to the sheer number of graves that are found there.  Such a High Price for Freedom but necessary at times and for the times the Price was Paid as politicians played their games of reelection strategies instead of allowing the men to fight, win, and come home…….Shame on those politicians.  I am a Vietnam Vet and my heart aches for those that grieve for their loved ones and I consider their grief a part of the Priced Paid for Our Freedom.  Thank You for your sacrifices.

  • Today must be the Westboro Baptist Church’s favorite holiday. When I was a kid, Memorial Day would be the reminder that summer vacation was coming.

  • touching photos. touching entry. thank you

  • There’s so many graves…but they’re all brave people, fighting for all of us.

  • i spent the day watching A&E…….

  • Wow…they are moving pics…had to remind my kids why we “celebrate” today………..

  • horray for the troops & vets! (i gotta admit, i’m shocked it took you this long to post something for them).

  • I can’t help but feel that it’s silly, that we have to set one day aside. As if we can’t make the effort on all the other days.

  • Beautiful pictures, by the way.

  • Your picture on your Photos page with th burned flags really got me upset! Damn, I really lost it. I guess I’ve always been big on respect and that was just the lowest of the low.

  • the first picture is so touching…

    =/

  • aw those pictures are beautiful dan…

and yet, we see this weekend as just a break or an unofficial way to kick off summer.. tsk.

  • yessiree. i love the pictures.

  • Very touching pictures… I do hope everyone did stop and remember the sacrifices

  • I felt strange today, knowing that everyone was out grilling and having a picnic and playing volleyball.

You know, when other people are crying over their lost loved ones. That first picture is really moving.

  • Beautiful Pictures. Wow, I teared up.

  • thanks for the post and the pics… besides some of thenews networks.. hardly nothing on tv has said or dome anything to say thanks to those who have died for our country. I’m glad you did this post. thanks.

  • and in the end really, who is it for? men go to war to fight other men, kill other men….of the same religon, different religons, diff backgrounds and for what? to say they fought for their country? yea sure they say its not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country……did the fact they died make this country any better or safer? no. reality is…..war will never solve problems, never make peace. the bible foretold that man would dominate man to his own injury. and thats just what we have. and look at how many people end up in anguish and despair bc someone they love died in war, time and unforseen occurence befall us all , but war is a choice. its that simple. its like making murder legal, in when is that ever right.

  • Thank you to the soldiers who dedicate themselves to protecting us, and thank you for honoring them today.

  • Freedom isn’t free – thanks for the pics.

  • I pray that I will never have to go through what that poor woman in the first picture did…

This makes me miss my husband so much.

I wish we would thank them everyday for their sacrifices.

  • That first picture broke my heart.

  • great pics, really………..

  • Sure we remember. Which is why the majority of you folks was out partying all day yesterday.
Yup. Gotta remember them troops, don’t we? Brave peeps and all that.
    Now gimme my beer.

  • I think we have to take a day to remember – otherwise the people just become numbers and we forget.

    Thank you for the pictures.

  • RYN:  In my case, it has more to do with the fact that I’m not photogenic…  It seems my eyes are usually shut or my mouth is contorted because I am talking or eating…  If I get a decent picture of me, I’d post it… (but in a protected post for privacy issues)

  • ryc: see, I didn’t feel it was to long at all.  The whole time, I was on the edge of my seat.  I thought that the adventure pulled you in so that you didn’t realize just how much time had slipped by.

  • THANK YOU TO ANYONE WHO HAS EVER SACRIFICIED FOR OUR FREEDOMS BY SERVING IN THE MILITARY…I APPRECIATE YOU .

  • And we celebrate the dead guys with barbeque!

  • the first one about breaks my heart. amazing pictures.

  • awe! the top pic is very sad, that what cought my eye first and the bottom pic is also very sad, very cute child.

  • watch chicks fighting with pie at http://http://www.swiftvideos.com/chicks.php

  • Those are great photos, Dan. Thanks for sharing.

I went to visit my dad’s grave and the veterans’ area in the cemetary was teeming with those that were grieving. I’m usually one that is constantly looking through a camera lense, but I thought it would be disrespectful if I went around with my camera. The whole thing was a touching scene.

  • I’m touched by those pictures. I live by Rosehill cemetary, and go there a lot; whenever I reach the Civil War section, I have to stop and think, and pray. I haven’t been there since last year, but those pictures bring it back. Thanks.

  • I am intrigued by those photos, being an armature Photographer.

    (:

  • Beautiful post. Thank You.
