  • Changing Your Life Around

I mentioned a quote from Paris Hilton in my photoblog this morning.

    Photo

Paris Hilton did an interview with Barbara Walters and said that she had changed in prison.  Here is the quote:  “I’m not the same person I was,” she said. “I used to act dumb. It was an act. I am 26 years old, and that act is no longer cute. It is not who I am, nor do I want to be that person for the young girls who looked up to me. I know now that I can make a difference, that I have the power to do that. I have been thinking that I want to do different things when I am out of here. I have become much more spiritual. God has given me this new chance.”  Here is the link:  Link

In the comment section of my photoblog, a few people appeared skeptical that a person could make a life change in just a few short days.

Can a person make a life change in just a few days?

  • If I did it, anyone can. :D

  • Paul’s change was immediate.  I am not equating Paris Hilton to Paul of Tarsis…but I’m just saying that should God choose to…it’s within his discretion.

  • i reckon paris hilton

will do or say anything to get attention.

but i’m glad she’s having such a great time in prison

because i’ve had a great time laughing about it.

    (i swear i’m not a bitch!)

    stay strong xxx

  • Correction.  Prison can make ANYBODY change in just a few days. ^_^  In two weeks, Paris becomes a born again!  LOL

  • If theres some serious intervention going on.

  • i know id change if i was in prison for a few days…..

  • Yes, they can.

When something tramautic or extremely different from what you’re used to happens, you change. I’m sure it’s no different for Paris.

  • It is called “Jailhouse Religion” some keep their religion on the outside, many do not. Here is hoping that she will be a better person for it.

  • If she had said this on the last day of her prison stay, I’d put more stock in it. Right now, it sounds like she is doing image rehab, not real change.

  • ha… well, yes, you can make life changes in just a few days. but will they stick? once she’s out and lindsay is calling her up, will she go back to partying and drunk driving? or is she gonna go all angelina on us?

  • Yes, why not, just depends on how intense this short time is.

  • By the way, can we please stop talking about her? I’m glad everything’s wonderful for her now that she’s achieved self actualization through prison and all..

but the majority of us don’t care. And it’s giving me a headache.

  • yes. but keep her in for the full 45 anyway to be sure…

  • Yes, maybe if something really traumatic happend to her.

    Like Jail.

But I’m not going to buy her “I’m a big girl” act till she starts acting like it

  • I do. It only takes one moment of realization to turn yourself around.

  • Action speaks louder than words.

  • of course they can, but it will be interesting to see how long it lasts. and I can’t help but wonder at the timing of mama’s phone call to baba wawa. amazing.

  • Maybe for someone else. But for Paris Hilton, probably not.

  • Yes. Your life can change in an instant.

  • For her changing means a new pair of panties.

  • A person can make a life change far more quickly than in a few days, and can also spend years struggling and failing to make one. But this doesn’t mean that the Hiltoness is doing anything but blowing steam.

  • Sure they can. I’ve seen it happen. And I hope it does for her. Doesn’t mean it’ll be easy. Doesn’t mean it won’t mean a lot of hard work in the long run. But it can happen just fine.

  • it can happen.. i pray she does

  • Yes, but not in Paris’ case.

  • eehh..you can make the first step towards a life change but it isn’t really a change until you can see it worked out in the person’s life over time

    amanda

  • yes. it can even be in the blink of an eye. we’ll see when she gets out – judging now is premature and frankly immature.

  • I think you’re right that Paris will change for the better. It may not be a drastic change, but this will certainly give her a reality check. She’ll have a lot of time in prison to think about where her life is going… certainly much more time than she spent thinking about that when she was outside of prison.

  • i know a 15 year smoker who completely quit after a 10 second brush with death.

  • It is possible to make major changes in less than a day. I doubt that she actually did though. I just don’t think she is as good of an actor as she would have to be for her stupidity to be only an act. Also, why would it take her this long to make her change? It seems reasonable to me that it would have happened when it was apparent that she would wind up in prison or when she was actually put in prison for the first time not after she had been put back in.

  • If a person is frightened enough, if a person’s actions scare him or her enough then I think it’s possible for a person to change in a short amount of time.

  • Yes, the change can happen instantly. It is the years immediately afterward where the change is most difficult. It is during those years where it is evident whether the change was genuine.

  • “Can a person make a life change in just a few days?”

Why yes, if a LIFE CHANGING EVENT occurs…

  • Yes. I think it is “possible” for a person to make a life changing decision that quickly.  HOWEVER…  I, too, am skeptical

  • Happened to me, but I’ve seen many who SAID they had, and hadn’t.

  • hmm, maybe but it seems fishy to me – like shes trying to appear moral or spiritual in hopes of getitng out early.

    Daniel (doubledb)

  • Sure. But whether the change was real can only be measured over time.

  • I completely agree with squeakysoul. I would believe Paris went through dramatic change if she said it after a longer stay in prison. But saying it right now just makes it seem as if she’s trying to make herself look better. But you know… If she’s acting more like an adult three months after she’s out, more power to her!

RYC: It was fun, but I had to go w/ a picture of me when I was 4 because every time I used a current pic, it gave me random people who looked nothing like me but had the same type of glasses I had…

  • I’ll believe it when I see it!!

  • LOL @ Drakonskyr

NO, change takes time for a person to grow into.

  • …Changes for the time being.

What happens when she gets out of jail though? It’s easy for her to talk now…

  • anyone can make a life change, i’m just skeptical about her making one.

  • A heartattack is dramatic and can change your attitude and life view…but soon after his heartattack in early May, my dad’s back to 2 jobs.

I think it can but only for a little while, she’ll go back to her old ways.

  • they can but i doubt it for her… true deep internal change is not done with public statements alone

  • Hey, ride the momentum. Everything stops at the bottom of the hill…

  • RYCHEE: Because I’m so damn good.

  • yes, but whether they keep up with those changes are another story.  I don’t believe Paris Hilton for one second.  We’ll she how much she changed when she gets out of jail.

  • Yes, but I am skeptical nonetheless
    -David

  • You can if it was all just an act to begin with in the first place.  Remember, this gal has made a career out of publicity stunts.  If she didn’t keep acting contoversial and sparking conversation, she wouldn’t be “famous” anymore. =P

  • who knows. maybe shes been thinking of it for a while, and its just coming out now.

  • I changed in the few hours after having my first son.

  • No! And no one should trust a word she says! She’s been in the limelight her whole life–she’ll say anything to get in the public’s goodwill.

  • a person can believe they have changed due to extreme circumstances. this image will wear off when the extreme circumstances become a memory

  • make a decision to change in a few days?  yes.  actually institute that change?  not really likely

  • Such a change is possible, but it’s easy to be pious without temptation. Let her loose on the world again (after her 40 days of course) and we’ll see just how real her change was.

Hopefully she’s genuine and the world will have one less stupid, spoiled whore in it.

  • That’s cute. Well, I hope she’s being honest, if not, at least it made for good television

  • Im sure jail will change her.

  • a person can make a life change in a minute. remember, paul and other people in the bible changed instantly.

who are we to say if she’s lying or not lying?

and if we really “don’t care” about paris hilton, then we shouldn’t be anticipating whether she follows through with her statement or not.

  • “I used to act dumb. It was an act”

Anybody smell a Prince Hal coming on?

  • She’s saying so people will feel sorry for her….as always.

  • Paris Hilton is a major looser.  Does anyone care what Paris Hilton thinks?  She is pathetic, has contributed nothing to the quality of life in this country, has no character and very little intelligence.  What is the attraction?

  • they can, but they have to stick to it. I really hope that she’s sincere, but even if she is, I’d be surprised if the media gives her a chance to change her image

  • I wouldn’t presume to know how sincere she is. My belief is that jail rarely changes people, but at the same time I’ve seen it happen.

  • .. Everyone finds God in jail.

:: Yeah.. I know… I’m thinking like a chick. It’s really no big deal. Hence me telling myself.. “you’re overreacting!”. I KNOW they would all do their best to come over for a kickass BBQ.

  • Possible, yes. Is she really changed, well, you can’t blame people for being skeptical.

  • i love how people seem to find God in prison.

  • Like they say, actions speak louder than words. Let’s wait and see. I have a feeling I know how this will go…

  • depends….in her case, its possible.

  • yes.

it’s also up to the people around them to allow them to change and grow.

  • Hmm, maybe.  I really think at this point she would say anything to get out of jail.

RYC:  Thanks.    I actually picked my current theme out of the theme directory; I haven’t really messed with it much at all.  How do you even do that?

  • Sure, why not. I quit smoking cold turkey when I was 18. That was a long time ago and I never had another cigarette. Doing something like that at 18 is hard – you have little to no will power. At 26 it should be easier.

  • I’m not going to comment on Paris, I will say I certainly believe it is possible, though probably not very common, to make a life change in a matter of days.

  • I’m a bit skeptical about it.. but it’s very possible that she has changed.

  • the guy who saved the guy on the subway: yes
    the surviving holocaust members: yes
the ones who jhave seen ones they love because they didn’t do anything about it: yes.

    answer to your question: yes.

  • It would be a really good thing for her – and all of us – if this turns out to be true. But as the saying goes “I’ll believe it when I see it”… I do hope it is true though.

  • i think its possible, Evowookie gave the example of Paul. very true. i think there are also many examples of people who ‘get religion’ and drop it after a while. i would be more than happy to accept that she has changed, but the test will be rather rigorous for her to prove herself. not just by me, or even not just by christians, but by everyone. she made a statement, now she has to live up to it.

  • Maybe not, but a person can make a decision to change in those days and then take longer to do it and stick to the decision.

  • People can change dramatically in a single moment.  I just have my doubts about whether Paris Hilton is one of those people.

  • Paris will do anything for attention.

She’s a liar. Slip her a drink or two and the panties come off.

  • if it’s pure human willpower, I doubt. But if there’s an intervention of higher power…I can’t disagree.

  • Of course. The biggest life changes seem to feel like waking up don’t they? Like all of a sudden something hits you upside the head and you realize how wrong you’ve had it, and instantly so many things make sense? That’s how it’s happened for me, anyways.

  • A person can  make a major life change in a few days, but as several people have already said, it doesn’t mean that they will.  Many people have turned their lives around in prison, but I don’t believe Paris can.  Then again, only time will tell.

  • Wow, how many days in jail, in protective custody away from all the others and their hardships….and she’s changed from that?? Imagine if she had a real life with real hardships

  • Few people can change during a long time

  • It’s possible, but hers seems a bit fishy….

  • possibly, but I doubt that hers is genuine.
especially when you consider that she was apart from the general prison population… it seems unlikely that she would have encountered anything to spark such a change.

  • Nothing changes if nothing changes, right, well something in her pretty little world changed. I got a better place for her, here with me, up in the trailor park.  lol   I think all rich people should have to spend some for of reality training.  These girls and hell some of the guys go through life never getting so much as a boobooo with out some servent there to kiss it and make it better for them.  All of the born rich, should have to do soething, that is well scary, depressing, and down right gross.  The british sent theirs into a war, come on she is just a spoiled little brat and I don’t think that big of a change could have been made in the comfy spa she is in, but put her in a prison in the south and let them have her and she will change like all the rest, if they are not bad going in they are coming out.

  • A person can decide to change their life around in an instant, but I doubt that that is what Hilton is doing. If I had to guess, daddy got a little pissed at the princess’s antics and told her to clean her act up or get cut off from his wallet and credit. So to win some of the publics goodwill, she lied, shrugged, and moronically simpered her way through a charade of an interview.

If I ever got the chance, I would poop in her closet. right on her shoes.

  • It can truly be a wake up call. The process of changing and getting back on one’s feet is more than a couple of days.

  • Yeah, I really think so.

Although I really can’t account for it, I changed in a matter of a few months and hey, if she really is with the whole God thing (which I’m still contemplating myself, mind you) it’ll totally work out.

It would be rather weird seeing her in Heaven though…

  • I think her lawyer helped her write that one.

  • Sure.  Especially in prison.  I mean, what else are you going to do?

  • kinda hard to believe. my personal opinion is that it might be for attention, but i definitely believe that a few days in jail can wake a girl up especially if she’s gotten her way all the time so i’m open to it

  • you bet your ass they can. It took me 18 hours of hell on a surgery table to change my life, outlook and a whole lot more.

  • Check out DoCircle.com  =)

  • It can happen in a moment.

  • Yes. It is possible. But with this kind of situation…highly unlikely. Actions speak louder than words!

And can we please not talk about her anymore? She is really annoying…

  • PErsonally I think its possible for someone to change their life in just a few days… but it wil take another few days before it becomes real..

  • I hope so because she could use this situation to be a role model to help keep young people off of drugs and booze.

I have seen people change in a matter of days, rather begin the change.

  • i think it is possible to experiance something major in life and make a huge change in a short period of time. i believe that paris believe’s she has been changed, but i will believe she has actually changed when i see it.

  • Yes. But I don’t think she has or will.

  • anyone can change in the twinkling of an eye. The real challenge is STAYING changed! God may have released her, but it is she who will build a new life. Hopefully, the service will help this. I hope we can pray for her “recovery” and for “the young girls who look up to (her)” Oh God help whomever those young girls may be! If she can help redeem them, what a wonderous thing! Prayers for all of us in this strange culture we have created

  • I don’t know whether or not she’s made a life change, but I do know that it is possible to turn your life around in a matter of minutes… heck, the Apostle Paul did, right? I hope that Ms. Hilton has made a change for the better, but only time will tell.

  • I think it’s very difficult to see whether that life change is genuine, or superficial, until you see the results. My step-sister married a guy who had a “life change” like this after he fell off a horse and broke his neck (no permanent damage). He was a decent guy for a while, but after they were married and had a daughter, he eventually went back to his irresponsible ways and now they’re divorced.

I’d like to hope that Paris really has turned a new leaf, but I’ll wait and see what she does once she’s out of prison, and back around her usual crowd and Hollywood pressure to see how long-lasting her change or heart really is.

  • Yes a person can change in such a short space of time. But Paris? Well it is possible that the sudden shock of being put out of her spoilt, pampered, selfish, exploited environment has shocked the hell out of her! (But I doubt it… it’s just another publicity stunt).

  • When she is released, I think the judge should require that she complete the requirements to get her high school diploma and attend AA.  All of her offences occurred under the influence of alcohol. Part of showing maturity is showing wisdom in your drinking habits.

  • All that in just a few days huh?  Imagine if she had gotten the punnishment she deserved.

  • I think some people can change in a few days time, but I find this situation sketchy, as Paris’ mother initiated the Barbara Walters interview.

  • I have. The decision can be made in an instant. Of course, it takes perserverance to maintain the effects of that change.

  • For someone who said that the media should focus on the world rather than her, she needs to shut up. She can say what she wants, I’ll believe it when I see it.

  • Yes. A person can change that quickly, but paris hilton, having a devine intervention..hmmm.

I’d give it a little more time to see if it is true.

  • And please stop talking about Paris hilton, rather annoying.

  • Time will tell….but anything is possible.

  • Yes, but I’m not sure if that is actually the case in this situation.

  • Maybe lots and lots of time by herself, without too many vices will help her grow.  Grow up!

  • If she has accepted Christ, yes.  I am only hearing that she is “more spiritual”.  I would be happy for her if this has caused her to seek Christ.  God allows people to be put in positions so they will call on His name.  I can only hope this is true for Paris.

  • I believe usually the people who make the biggest changes to which they stay committed tend to make those changes over a longer period of time.  However, I don’t think they are limited to such.  When I hear about instant/quick changes, I’m inwardly skeptical but also hopeful (if the change is for the good).

  • YES!!  but probably more just changing her image in a matter of days…

  • I believe a person can change….but after like three days?

did she drop her soap or something?

  • i’ll wait to see if she’s really changed. i doubt it honestly.

  • easily, if not quicker, it only takes a minute to become a christian…..wso yes i find it very possible for hilton to have changed but weater it’s true i doubt

  • a car accident can change an alcoholics life in a second.

  • It only takes a second to change your mind. You aren’t in a trance for a month to process making a decision.

But whether it was a day or a year, I don’t know if she’s seriouse.

  • Only time will tell if she really changed for the better.

I don’t mean to spam, but please people check out my latest blog.  It contains urgent information.

  • It sounds like something she rehersed to say …

  • NO– SHE IS MISS UP IN HER LIFE!it take long time to be ok

  • she’s a talentless good for nothing person. she’s full of it..

  • A person can change drastically when they have gone or are going through a time of stress like she is. However, I doubt she means any bit of it. She’ll always be stupid.

  • That actually sounds rational, coming from her.

    Maybe she did genuinely change.

    ’nuff said…

  • She’s talking like she’s been in jail for ten years, and, praise the Lord, she’s free, free at last.

  • I think it’s possible, but the proof will be in how she acts when she gets out of prison.

  • They can decide to make a life change in a few days, but it takes much more than that for it to come to fruition. So, no, technically a life change cannot be made in a few days.

  • Maybe. But I kind of doubt it in this case.

  • if the event they experience is poweful enough to affect them in such a way, then yes. Paris Hilton being in jail….that’s probably a very big shock for her so she mght have changed, who really knows?

  • Yes.  It only takes a moment for reality to sink in… some times it takes longer.
