Upside Down Roller Coaster
As I mentioned in my photoblog, 12 people got stuck on an upside down roller coaster in Arkansas.

A power outage shut down the ride and caught the people upside down for 30 minutes 150 feet above the ground. Firefighters had to rescue them using a ladder.
I read a funny quote from one of the people who was caught upside down for 30 minutes: “I love the amusement park, but I will never get on the X-Coaster again.” Here is the link: Link
If you had been caught upside down for 30 minutes on a roller coaster, do you think you would ever ride a roller coaster again?

No
we had that happen out here in vegas at one of the hotels. my husbands been trying to pull me on it ever since and i wont do it. I hate roller coasters anyway.
No.
I don’t really like coasters anyway.
I’m not a coaster person, so the likelihood of me being on it to begin with is pretty nil.
Hmmm… Yes. Indeed I would.
Definitely yes. The roller coaster worked.
Yup. I sure would.
I dunno… I’m quite fond of roller coasters. Then again, reading about this is creeping me out.
Yepper.
My youngest, Oldest and I were caught on a Ferris Wheel for over an hour. They couldn’t get it to stop. It took 4 huge guys to hold it still so each cart could unload. For some reason unplugging it wasnt an option.
ryc: I’m hoping I’ll know what i’m doing with kids when i have my own someday. I too dont like watching other people’s children. If they hand me a baby im afraid i’m going to drop him/her so i get nervous and then the baby cries. I love kids and i want kids, i just hope that “mother instinct” kicks in when i have my own. I’ve heard it does. And thanks for coming by my site
.
Whatever I ate before, I’d never eat that again.
Of course.
I wouldn’t ride one to begin with.
You would think they would have a way to get a generator hooked up to a ride like that to get people off.
… If I loved Roller Coasters I would not let that stop me from going on them.
not hanging upside down…not cool. probably not.
yes…
I think I would but I would have to think it through…
Wouldn’t get on one in the first place. I wonder how many lawsuits will now be filed?
I probably would, but I’m not 100% sure
Probably not. It already takes me a while to get onto a rollercoaster, if I actually had that bad of an experience on one I doubt I would ever try again.
I doubt it.
Of course I would, I’d actually love for something like that to happen, just to add an extra unexpected thrill to the ride.
Yes, but not the one I got stuck on!
yah, i’d probably keep getting on the rollercoasters… maybe not that particular one if it was a scarring experience, but i’d definately get back on- i love the thrill of rollercoasters and the only other way i know how to get that kind of thrill is to learn how to fly a jet, so seeing as the second option is not realistic…
I think I would ride again, not necessarily out of fear that it would happen again, but seeing the worst that can happen already has. Besides, lightening strikes the same place almost never. -Rebekah
I would, I love roller coasters. The roller coaster worked except for a power outage that likely had nothing to do with the park at all. If the power went out in your home would you be afraid to enter your home again? It would be bad because of the amount of blood going to the heads of the riders. I wonder why it took 30 minutes to free them, it seems to me that they should have been the top priority which makes me question the park’s management.
I threw up on one once and never got on another one
Honestly, never!
hell yea. theres always been this crazy part of me that wants to be stuck upsidedown.
I would. I love roller coasters… it makes me smile just thinking about riding one. And what are the chances that it would happen to you again?
If the picture makes me not want to ride now, I’d think I wouldn’t only not ride but those responsible for the power outage would be receiving a call from my lawyer. Talk about a danger zone!
It happened to me on the Loop one (the perfect circle-shaped ride) and we were not directly upside down, but almost there. I haven’t ridden one since!
Eventually…but it would take a while.
nope… but then again Im a big ole chicken and probably wouldnt have gotten on it in the first place.
I don’t think it’d stop me.
Hmm… probably not as it has been many years since I went on a roller coaster. Not since I had an inner ear infection that gave me vertigo. Felt like I just came off an upside-down roller coaster for almost two weeks. After that, and now this, I think I am coastered-out.
maybe…after a very very very long time.
Definitely so. I would demand a lifetime pass to the park that also allowed me to cut in lines.
Wow tha is so freaky. I’m surprised all the blood didnt rush to their head and they didnt just die.
I don’t ride roller coasters to begin with.
I’m afraid of heights.
Probably not.
prolly would, i love roller coasters
I think I’d get back on again – because really, what are the chances of that happening again?!?
Happy Monday!
*hugs*
Yeah probably
I got sick on one once, going backwards…have never ventured on one since…bad memory, man
no im scared of roller coasters and beng upside down will be horrible
Probably not- at least not one where you’re upside down at all.
Ayup… Probably that same day depending on how long it took for me to stop my nose from bleeding…lol
No.
I don’t ride roller coasters as a rule, but one time I was at King’s Island in Ohio and this coaster (they’ve since taken it out) got stuck upside down–iit’s called the King Cobra, and people were strapped into it standing up, and it twisted and spent about half the time upside down. My family and I got lunch and sat watching them just hang there.
i dont think so
Oh my gosh!!!! I didn’t hear this news. That’s CRAZY! I adore roller coasters, but yikes!
yeah, I would. But it would probably bring back suppressed memories of birth… lol. being caught hanging in midair and all…
that’s why i only choose rides that don’t go upside down. it’s quite limiting.
Not the one I got stuck on.
But I’d ride other rollercoasters probably.
Definitely. I love rollercoasters… nothing can turn me off them.. NOTHING
I have an extreme phobia about being upside down. I wouldn’t ride that kind of coaster to begin with. This only feuls my fear. Gee, thanks. LOL. But if I were caught like that I think I’d become catatonic.
I doubt it.
Probably.
Heck yeah!
There’s a roller coaster at Six Flags in Atlanta called the Ninja. It’s the jerkiest ride I’ve ever ridden, and a guaranteed neck ache after you get off. One time, when I was riding it with my sister, my seat restraint unlocked as the cars were leaving the station. The operators are, of course, oblivious to the ride most of the time, so nobody but my sister noticed.
Going on the loops and upside down parts, I made no contact with the seat — just held on to the shoulder bars for dear life, and those were flapping up and down.
I rode that roller coaster again last Thursday.
i probably would ride a rollercoaster again, but i’d be really nervous. its not good to live your life in fear, dust yourself off- and go for another rollercoaster ride.
Yes. The chances of that happening again are very small.
Cha- it’s not like they fell off the track!
Hell no.
no. I don’t ride them anyways! lol I’m a scaredy cat.
No. I was told not to touch the stove because it was hot. I touched the stove, cried, and uttered my first word.
Hot.
We are who we always are. I’m a sucker for punishment it seems…
Not on an upside down one. I wont get on those anyway though.
I wonder if I will be able to think straight after being hung upside down for half an hour.
Oh great. More bad press for Arkansas.
I’ve ridden some roller coasters at that park, but not that particular one. I also got stuck on a smaller roller coaster due to a power outage (caused by a storm), but luckily the ride had just started and we were not upside-down. I would probably ride that ride again. But again, I was not upside-down, and we were only stuck for five or ten minutes.
Maybe the park should invest in a generator.
Pass on that, I think.
hek no
Daniel (doubledb)
Nope.
I’ve seen people stuck on roller coasters before. I was at Cedar Point the day of the huge power outage across New York and the Midwest (I think it was at least five years ago). My group was about to get on the Millennium Force when it happened. I’m so thankful we didn’t!
Just for the record Dan, I will not be caught right side up for 30 minutes on a roller coaster! So being upside down for 30 minutes will definately not be a problem for me. <: )
I probably would ride again . . .
Yeah. What’re the chances of it happening twice, eh?
Not one that goes upside-down.
no. and i already dont ride roller coasters
OH MY GOSH. I’m already terrified of roller coasters. Thank God nobody was hurt!
yes i would…
i probably would just so in hopes that it would get stuck again.
yup.
absolutely not!!!
I am so grateful NOT to be hearing of their death! thanks to God! OMG This is why I don’t ride these things. What amazing people. Remember the croc attack a couple of years ago in N FL, the friend JUMPED IN TO SAVE her friend….AND DID IT! now that was amazing. But the friend said she would go swimming in their again! omg what stupid people!~
yeah, i was at that park the very next day after that happened. I didn’t ride that ride.
Would not be on this coaster to begin with…
I dont know, I guess it would depend on how tramatic the experience is for me…when I was little I was on a ferris wheel and the seat flipped all the way around…my brother and I were able to hang on until they could get it back down but they scare me to death now…it would take some serious work to get me back on one. But if we were just chillin up there and were completely safe…I dont know, maybe I would.
Possibly, though it might take a little while.
hrmmm yeah probvably i would ride it again
probably not that specific one
I passed out on my first upside-down roller coaster. That was enough to convince me never to ride one again.
But, then again, I still ride elevators, and I’ve been stuck in them twice.
yeah definately, I’d probably ride the roller coaster that I’d gotten stuck on again too. Roller coasters don’t get stuck very often,, just because it happens once doesn’t mean it’s gonna happen every time after.
I would I love rollercoasters.
Why not?
What are the chances it would happen again?
Besides, what a great story it would make!
