Boston Red Sox fans held up signs with 756 with an asterisk because of the feeling that Barry Bonds will break the homerun record because of the use of steroids.

That is if they keep his record on the books. I think they should wait until he retires and then expunge his records from the books and ban him from the hall of fame forever.
I see him as one of many stains on the sport of baseball.
I also think that Mark McGwire’s 70 homeruns should be expunged because he admitted to using a substance (I forget what it was) that acts much like steroids.

I think every record broken by a player on steroids should be marked. Only problem with that is that most records nowadays would have asterisks on them. It’s really disappointing.

No. MLB randomly drug tests its players and Barry Bonds has never failed one. Fans simply assume he is taking them. You are innocent until proven guilty and everyone seems to be forgetting this.
He admitted rubbing flaxseed oil on his knee. The oil was provided to him by a trainer and that trainer was later shown to be associated with a company distributing steroids. He didn’t hide this fact. People just assume he’s guilty.

Whether Bonds used the steroids or not, Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth were batting a million years ago when the game was very different. Think of it this way, all Ruth had to hit was the fast ball, so should any of his home runs count?

because it’s been proven that the substances he recieved from the balco company don’t even SHOW UP on baseball’s steroid tests….that’s the whole point of using them. he was on a list of balco customers who have admitted to and/or been caught using steroids in professional sports. besides, he gained 15 pounds of pure muscle in fewer than 100 days. you can’t do that naturally, it’s physically impossible. he went from size a 10 ½ to size 13 cleats, and from a size 7 1/8 to size 7 ¼ cap. people’s feet and heads don’t just suddenly grow in their mid to late 40′s

If Bonds gets an asterisk, so should Giambi, McGuire, etc. Bonds is not the only freaking man in baseball using these substances.

Yeah, but I think we’d have to prove that he was using steroids. I actually think that if he has been proven to use steroids, his record does not count and there is no such thing as homerun record by barry bonds.
