Losing Your Feet
By now most of you have probably heard about the 13-year-old girl who had her feet cut off on the Superman Tower of Power ride in Kentucky.
The ride is said to have “malfunctioned” causing the girl’s feet to be severed. Here is the link: Link
People will begin to talk about suing and I am sure she will get several million for the feet being cut off.
One time a ride malfunction causing a serious injury to one young girl and she received $7 million for the accident.
If you were to get your feet cut off and could have them placed back on and use them, would it be worth $7 million to have gone through the experience?

I don’t know. What an odd thing to have to decide. I guess it wouldn’t be so bad if I could still use them.
if I could get them back on and use them… then yeah, I think so.
Absolutely NOT
o__o No. Because I’d probably be traumatized for life.
At least! How horrible is that?
so- they can reattach them?!? I can’t imagine that it would be the same – and all the pain she will have to go through. $7 million is a drop in the bucket!
Nooo!
I’d do it for $1mil.
I think its funny that this was only a “malfunction.” I think if I was the boss at that park I’d use a little stronger word.
hell no. i loff my feet
Uhhhh… no! Definitely not.
Meh, it would be a story to tell people.
To have gone through the experiance? What the heck? I don’t think money could make me happy that my feet were once cut off and reattached and I had that horrible pain.
HOLY cow, I really don’t think I would want to try.Tthat sounds like a LOT of pain.
sure
eh.
i cut off a finger once..i’d rather not go through that again.
..cutting off BOTH feet?!?!?!
no.
no way no way no way……..money is nothing compared to health
YOU GUYS ARE FUCKING PUSSIES.
http://www.platinumtestates.ca
how the hell could money ever compensate for losing something i would have needed for my WHOLE LIFE?!?! and the girl’s 13 too.. she’s got a good 80+ years to live!! the least that i’d ask to be done is for the ride to be closed forever and for me to get mechanical legs or idk.. what are they called?? idk, i’d ask for “new” (the robotic kind?) legs!!!!!!!
no i have beautiful feet.
HELL NO!!!
If it happened to me and I didn’t get any money from it (granted that I didn’t at least have to pay for anything) I wouldn’t regret it. Seven million dollars would be icing on the cake. It’s time for the bionic revolution.

hm.
i don’t think so
oh wow. geez. that’s traumatizing
nooo way.
No,no,no
definately not!!!
i love my feet and my feet love me<3
NO!
no way
That said, I wouldn’t look forward to it, and I’m never going near that ride.
-David
Ouch!
This is sort of relevant to me. But not really…
The other day I had a dream that I went to Korea with my father, and people started dropping nuclear bombs. (yes, my dreams really are that bizarre), Anyway, my leg was hit, and I was rushed to a recreation center, because all the hosipitals were full. They cut off my leg right there without anesthesia. The rest of my dream had me go through places that I would not be able to go to with one leg. For instance, I swimming pool, and a PE Class. I was really traumatized by this dream, and in my dream, my whole life had changed.
I think if that really happened, money could not buy back my missing leg. I’d sue, but give the money to the science that works on developing artificial limbs.
okay, i’m sorry, but this is such a stupid question.
Never. It wouldn’t even be a temptation for me.
I doubt seriously that reattached feet function as well as before they were severed….
mm, no I wouldn’t want to go through that just for money
If they could be re-attached without permanent nerve damage, you wouldn’t even have to give me the seven million. That is, if it were absolutely true that chicks dig scars.
heck yeh… 7 mil might even be worth not having them back…. i mean i could pay people to walk for me…..
Definitely NOT.
No. Even if they COULD reattach them… there would always be nerve issues or other bone problems. It’s a lifelong problem.
Heck no.
Not having gone through it I honestly couldn’t say, but given the choice I’d rather not find out.
Peace,
Chaz
Dude, I’d give my LIFE for 7 million dollars!
No trauma is worth the money. Sorry. Money won’t cure her PTSD.
Hm, is it bad that I actually paused to think about it? That would be highly traumatic – emotionally and physically.
NO! I’d rather have my feet than the money!
She probably had them reattached. Unless the went splat or something… Guess it depends on how high up she was. She’ll probably get money, I would, it’s a bonus. It wouldn’t cover the trauma, never, but who doesn’t like money?
It was a malfunction, I heard a cable snapped. So she probably didn’t feel anything, if it was going fast enough to take out her feet. Still, that would scare the hell out of anyone
So long as I’m not liable for the surgeries and whatnot. Yeah. Sure. I could live very comfortably for a long time on $7 mil.
No, I am attached to my feet.
I wouldn’t trade them for any amount of money.
hell no.
No! Even though my feet are not in great shape, I’d just as soon keep them attached and skip the trauma.
If you can get a proper prosthetic feet and therapy to overcome emotional trauma from such money, then sure.
it’s better than nothing.
Having super robotic feet would be pretty cool but just the pain of getting both your legs ripped off would scar me for life.
i really don’t think so… maybe
No, it wouldn’t.
are they gonna give money to all the people who witnessed the event?? seriously. what would you do if you were on a ride and the girl in front or next to you got her legs cut off. that alone would be enough for ptsd!
I agree with SharingisCaring91. I *almost* lost my pinky to a set of electrical hedge-clippers. Luckily I didn’t even need stitches (just tape and later, nerve damage). I wouldn’t want to even go through that again for $7 million. Why not just sell your soul while you’re at it?
Even if the feet were reattached and usable, I am sure there would be pain resulting from it for years afterwards… and physical therapy. While the initial pain and trauma might be balanced by millions of dollars, years of pain, PT, and not being able to sleep without taking painkiller are things I deal with enough, no money would be worth adding more of it.
Besides, by the time the surgery was done and the physical therapy all gone through, a whole lot of said $7 million would be gone, anyway.
this is so awful, i cant imagine not having my feet at just 13… she’d better get a lot, appologies, money, free passes to the park for life, just to start
Oh yea buddy! What a story.
i would ask for that as well as full ceo rate salary with inflation and market value adjustments for life, regardless of the status of the park (bankrupt etc).
I think I’ll pass…
RYC:
I guess the new homepage looks nice, but for some reason I’ve noticed a drop in users and whatnot in the time shortly following the change. Maybe I’m just imagining it all though…
if i could use my feet again as if they were never cut off? i would do it in a heartbeat.
I don’t think money can replace the pain and other trauma that may occur. I was in a car accident, broke my neck, and was bleeding internally. I basically almost died and they gave me money. I have chronic pain in my neck everyday. The money doesn’t help with that.
oh…definately not…
Have a good weekend Dan…
I dunno! I’m just still trying to swallow the fact that she went to an amusement park and got her feet cut off. Holy wow! >:O
Um, Dan?
Why must you post this stuff two days before I go to 6 Flags? WHY?!
To answer your question- hell no.
Hm, $7 million is a lot of money…. although I would never step foot in a theme park, much less on any kind of ride, I’d still have my feet, plus 7 mil in my pocket. Yeah, I’d say it would be worth it, even if a bit traumatizing
No, I would prefer to keep my feet attached. Also, I really don’t know what I would do with $7 million.
I can’t figure out what would cut off a person’s feet on such a ride. I have been on rides of that type before and never seen anything that could cut off a person’s feet. Also, I would expect that there would be some sort of emergency stops on the ride in case a cable broke like they have on elevators so that it wouldn’t freefall all the way to the ground.
definately not
id demand more
i love my feet
I live in Louisville, the city where it happened. I am NEVER going near Six Flags again o.o seven million wouldn’t cut it. It sounds good at first but i’m sure the entire ordeal wouldn’t be worth it.
I think that’s horribly…the poor girl…
and the money would not be worth it..
*hugs*
No amount of money is “worth” it but its a constalation prize.
uh, horrible*
not horribly
Gah!
I had a hard time getting my tonsils out,i could never imagine my feet.
not 7 million, but maybe 1 to 3… the cost of the surgery and long-term cost, cause i doubt your leg will ever be the same. Plus, the court/lawyer cost.
Daniel (doubledb)
nope, i like my feet
As much as my feet disgust me, I think I’d rather keep them, thank you.
Being in the prosthetic industry I know the technology that is available and it rocks. Still is not your real feel – but pretty damn close or in some cases better. Never fear amputation on a leg people – ok fear it but know that the technology to replace it is superior now-a-days. Most people can not even tell you have a prosthetic on!
However, $7 million is not enough. The cost of replacing really awesome prosthetics over the course of a life time is steep and most insurance companies will not pay for much. For trauma and the continuing issues I think it should be double or triple that amount.
Holy crap…NO!!!
I would be willing to scald myself with boiling hot coffee for a mil, but that’s where I draw the line.
If I could get robotic feet that I can move in and walk normally, maybe.
That is alot of money. o-o
I”m tempted to say I would, but hey! I”d split my head open 3 times when I was a kid, and I don’t remember any pain. Besides, she was probably unconscious half the time, and on pain killers the other half.
ohh, probably not
either way….no amount of money will attach the girls feet back to her ankles and make them function …ever.
NEVER!!!!!!!
That’s good money to put in CD and roll them around every month from my wheelchair.
No, then my pretty feet would have unsightly scars! What would I do at the beach?
OH my god no amount of money is worth any of my body parts being severed. Perhaps I would be happy with 100 million for a pinky, lol, but then i wouldn’t be able to use the Shift and Enter keys when I type. Lol.
feet are strange looking things. If I had a guarantee that I would be able to walk normally after having my feet reattached (or getting new feet) and I had $7 million, I’d be severely tempted.
fuck no
it would be interesting
I don’t know, that would really fucking hurt.
no money in the world guaranteed after an incident would ever make me wanna go through something like that.
I want to say no, but I don’t know how I would react if I were in that situation. I have never experienced trauma or pain like that.
Definitely not. My health always comes first even if they offer me a lot of money in return. There is something in life that is more important than money. Looking at the other people’s comment I was shock to find some people actually answer yes. In some degreed does that shows some level of greed? I bet that 13 year old girl rather choose not to experience all those pain and drama than receiving tons of money.
in the words of Homer Simpson, “I use these all the time, can’t you just bash my head in?”
If it were $7 million plus the amusement park paying for all the hospital bills then yes. But if after all that and you still have to pay the hospital bills, then no.
maybe.
Heck no! I hate pain…and I imagine that hurt pretty bad.
nu-uh
probably
No.
No way.
Remind me never to go on that ride.
that´s sick. my feet aren´t perfect and actually, they could be better… but they´re my feet and i don´t want to part with them for any amount of time.
money is stupid anyway… just wait until the new communist manifesto comes out. no one gets tempted by money anymore.
yep
Big Picture: The one way to get large companies to pay attention is for them to loose money. Without punitive settlements like that, more would get hurt and/or killed in accidents like this every year.
Individual Picture: The settlement serves as both restitution and a form of justice.
Your question missed the big picture and put a peculiar and backwards twist to looking at the individual, who was not asked to go through the life-altering trauma.
No.
ouch
whoa…don’t know…hope I never have to know.
I’m not sure I’d want my feet back. They don’t work right, anyway, and I’ve always wondered if I would be better off with prosthetics below the knee. Would $7 mil cover the lifetime medical costs? I don’t know. I would think so. I wouldn’t need anything fancy — just something to pound on the pavement.
I’m pretty sure $7 mil wouldn’t get me on a roller coaster if I knew my feet would be amputated. As much as I’d like $7 mil, I don’t have that much nerve.
They actually were able to re-attach the feet.
And by the way, I never want to hear anyone bitching because they got hurt on a roller coaster/thrill ride. YOU KNOW what can happen on those things, yet you ride them anyway, so I don’t want to hear it.
Of course not!
Absolutely not. All the millions in the world wouldn’t compensate for the pain and even if they could reattach, the therapy needed to just regenerate the nerves. She’ll never be the same, even if they’re successful.
that would be one heck of a story, but no, I would rather keep my feet and stay poor. i’m not a fan of pain.
Only if I could still do triathlons. Then I would totally kick some amputee triathlon butt and get the world’s record for fastest time for a double amputee. Yeah!
No.
$7 Million could go a long way to soothing that. But her feet will never be the same. She’ll need extensive surgeries and rehabilitation. Chronic pain. If she gets prostheses, they’ll have to be replaced as she grows – cha ching. Then she’s at risk for other problems, like skin breakdown and infections, maybe even further amputation from chronic problems with friction if the prostheses aren’t fitted right or she doesn’t get new ones soon enough.
This kid’s got a long road ahead of her.
depends on how attached to them you are…or were….
most def.
that $7 mill. could buy me better lawyers and then I could sue God for making it rain on my birthday last year.
Yeah. If they’re perfectly fine afterwards.
But I wouldn’t risking losing my feet permantently if I could help it, duh.
If I lost bothmy feet, I’d be horribly depressed. WHat’s better than money for depression. It’s like 3.5 mil per foot. I wonder what the actual value of a human foot is, average size.
I would be traumatized. That’s so scary.
No, I wouldn’t want to go through that kind of pain
Could I get somebody else’s feet in the deal? My feet are flat and that causes lots of problems.
Okay, no. That would be weird. But if this happened to me, I’d sure as hell want the money. Something happened that wasn’t supposed to and caused a huge amount of pain and trauma. Holy cow.
Hell no.
Not on purpose.. But I wouldn’t be complaining. xD And I’d probably pass out and not have much of a memory.
Did that recent girl get her feet put back on?
Why not? It would make for a good story, I’d probably have more fun with messed up feet & 7 million bucks than I would with normal feet and no money. But who knows what other effects there are…
I don’t know. Probably not.
I wouldn’t trade a part of my body for any money in the world. Not unless it was like, a finger nail or hair!!!
no, the therapy would be painful, and those feet will never be the same as they were – sensation and movement-wise
Did they find her feet?
Is she ok?
Have they/can they be reattatched?
Man, you can cut my feet off right now if you’ll give me $7 million.
If they were reattached, still functional, and there were no lasting effects? Plus I get $7 million dollars? What’s the downside?
I don’t know if that’s the case, here, though. What ever happened to the victim?
I think that if this little girl gets 7 million for her feet she is being short changed. First, I couldn’t imagine the horror she went through when she looked down and both of her feet were gone. I can’t begin to imagine the pain she felt or how scared she was after it happened. If her feet can be reattached it will be a very long time before she will be able to walk, jump or run if ever. When she is older she will have problems I am sure of it. I broke not severered my arm as a child and I can tell you when it will rain. My heart goes out to her parents and other siblings. There world has bee turned up side down. I wouldn’t change places with her for any amount of money but I bet if you asked her mother or father that questions they would change with her for free. This really isn’t about money. This is about a little girl who was having fun and was involved in a terrible accident that she will remember until she dies. Again, my heart goes out to her and her family.
No definitely not, and this is crazy but I have gone on that ride in Kentucky. Creeped me out when I read the article a while back.
If I could use them and have no limp- Yes – What a cool story to tell and how much wiser you would be.
If I could never walk the same – then no.
If I could use them and have no limp- Yes – What a cool story to tell and how much wiser you would be.
If I could never walk the same – then no.
Actually, I take it back….Knowing my luck, it might actually happen.
And PS – I hadn’t heard of this story. How traumatizing!
