The Vice-President
Every once in awhile, I like to test our knowledge of some of the basics that we learned in school.
So today we will test our knowledge of U.S. Government.
Without looking or checking anyone else’s answer, which branch of government does the vice-president serve in?
1. Executive
2. Legislative
3. Judicial
4. None of the above.

Executive!
And I’m not an American, okay? So don’t shoot me if I’m wrong (but I think I’m right. Ha.
)
I’ll have to agree with your first post, executive.
Legislative?
4.) None of the above.
Did you watch the daily show last night dan??
I think i was the first to get it right
I coulda sworn should be in the House or Congress helping out?
Executive!
4
executive, but i know why you are posting this. someone wants to double dip.
Executive. Come on Dan, at least make it challenging.
Executive?(I’m not an American)
executive. you nerd
If you ask The Dick, he doesn’t belong to any. If you look on the official White House page, the VP is part of the Executive branch. Someone needs to break it gently to the old fuck.
Executive, but he is also the President of the Senate, so in that sense he serves in the legislative branch as well.
Interestingly, if someone tried to impeach the Vice-President in the Senate, he might be in a position to preside over his own impeachment proceeding (unless he chose to defer to someone else).
By law and definition, executive. Apparently, some people don’t understand that.
Executive?
Thanks Dan,I don’t know why eveyone keeps picking 1. Anywho, the daily show had a really great joke about him..Here is the link to some of the videos:
http://www.comedycentral.com/shows/the_daily_show/videos/most_recent/index.jhtml
p.s Sorry to hear that you get flipped off too,you seem like such a sweet guy.
Executive.
Legislative, right? Because he presides over the house of representatives or something. It’s been a long time since I was in the states and I’ve been studying the french government system (the 5th republic) for the last 3 months.
executive?
Executive. Anyone who says otherwise is either not American (and excused) or fucking stupid (and should be forcibly returned to eighth grade to relearn US Government.) That includes our batshit VP and all his representatives who decided he could redefine whatever he wants to his liking to avoid responsibility.
The Constitution would say the Executive branch. Of course, no one in government gives a damn what the constitution says about anything so who knows what anyone will claim it is.
Executive…Right?
O_O
WRONG. D:..I think?
executive
executive1
executive
I’m gonna go with 5.
None of the above, of course.
Without looking, 2+2=?
Technically, both the Executive and the Senate. He is successor to the President and President of the Senate.
The current VP likes to claim he is one or the other depending on what he views as most convenient at the moment.
what’s a vice president?
Just reading these comments, I think a manditory American History class is needed for most American’s. These poor victims of public education and the NEA don’t even know their own country.
pres, vice pres, sect of state and so forth = executive
congress = legislative
supreme court = judicial
Daniel (doubledb)
Executive with a small influence on legislative.
But if we’re talking about Dick Cheney in particular, that would be 5. All of the Above
1
Executive
1 and 2 since he does the senate stuff you know, like tie breaking.
executive…
executive.
executive
The constitution says the executive branch. Cheney says none of the above.
Executive!
Executive
And now as the 46th comment, I have the above commenters do my thinking for me. Ahh.
So I can say “executive”.
Executive.
Executive.
Executive.
Executive.
I would say executive, but isn’t he also the defacto head of the Senate as well? Gee its been a few years since my high school Civics class….
Despite what he would have us believe, he is in the Executive branch.
executive.
Executive
executive branch! I had to learn a whole lot of government stuff a few months ago. Thank you School House Rock!
Although my husband says 4
Cheney’s rationale:
http://www.capitolhillblue.com/cont/node/2779
executive. unless it’s cheney- fourth branch!
Exec.
don’t try to eat lunch and type at the same time, especially if you are anything like me…so i spilled some stuff.
executive to answer the question
Everybody’s always so serious on here… you should do a post asking for everybody’s favorite joke. Or maybe a contest so that you don’t have 2500-word comments. Here’s one I like:
What’s the difference between a drummer and a pizza?
A pizza can feed a family of four.
Legislative because he’s head of the House
executive b/c the pres is executive.
Executive I think
1
None of the above.
Then again, I’m not really sure.
I agree with, This_Is_Important. Here’s my joke:
What is the mathematical inverse of Kansas? It’s ARKANSAS!
executive AND legislative
funny, here 8th grade is GA history, and you don’t get government until senior year. Of course, you learn about the constitution in 11th, but that has nothing to do with today’s government at all.
executive
executive
executive
ryc: You already got one answer. Give someone else a chance!
Executive.
Final answer.
rycagain: you sneaky sneaky man.

I think it’s legislative, because he is the President of the Senate.
Executive.
What is the mathematical inverse of Kansas? It’s ARKANSAS!
haha pretty good!
I think it’s executive….@__@ Man…that was like, 6th grade.
Oh,I know ,I know..He is out on a limb!!!
Executive and legislative. Isn’t he the Speaker of the House?
Depends who you ask.
According to Cheney and Bush, the offices of President and V.P. “are not part of the executive branch” and thus they are exempt from the requirement to surrender their communications.
Riiiiiight. What’s most insulting is that, given most 5th graders can answer this question correctly, they actually expect the American people to fall for that line and not fight back against the idiocy of such a remark.
… What’s saddest is that we probably won’t.
Executive….
Typically Executive. He does have some power in the legislative occasionally.
ryc: okie dokie… it’s really not something I prefer to go into on the public site although perhaps I will write about it in Protected one day. At any rate, I sort of answered that in a recent Protected entry….
obviously the 5th choise
executive
executive…?
ehah. YAY! i was right….
Executive.
#1
Both the Executive, as in he answers to the President and is second in line for the position, and the Legislative, he serves as the head of the Senate–and can vote to break a tie.
See laserlawyer’s comment. Executive and legislative.
1 and 2. The president is the executive branch. I’m assuming the VP is included in that. But he also serves as the leader of the House or Senate (can’t remember which) which is the legislative branch.
Executive
Executive.
I cheated, and read your article in your pictures.
Executive.
History was one of my best subjects in high school.
The one where you have less heart attacks –
legislative and executive, he’s the highest position in the senate as well.
Isn’t he the president of the legislative branch? He’s the guy they go to for tie brakers, right?
It was my understanding that he wasn’t all that important.
Executive…but then I am a history teacher…so maybe I have been lying all these years.
Executive. (And I said that before looking at other comments or checking my handy-dandy constitution)
I was learning about this in class today….but I totallly forgot o____o
Legislative. duh. Lol =]
Wasn’t Clinton’s Vice in charge of the laundry department?
executive??
Since we are talking about The Dick, the correct answer is None of the Above.
the correct answer is
5. the shadow branch
erm
all the above?
exec
i think its none, it should be executive but thats only president
I think he’s closest to executive (president), but technically, none of the above. Right???
Executive, technically…
Just saw The Daily Show and the Colbert Report.
Rock, Paper, Scissors, Cheyney!!!
Oh, and he’s definitely part of the Executive branch (Article II in that old Constitution of ours).
~ Doug
None of the above.
Executive and Legislative! The is in the executive branch with the president, and he is also in the legislative branch because the vice president is the head of the senate, although he only votes when there is a tie.
legislative – hes the the leader of the senate or maybe the house
executive – but idk what he does in the executive branch
1 and 2….1 as he works in the white house and 2 because he’s the leader of the senate, but it usually filledin by the president pro-temp(correct?)
Executive and Legislative.
ROFLMAO
That man is something else.
doesn’t the vp have to sit in on the legislative and be there in case there is a tie in the house or something?
Executive.
Legislative… he serves in the congress when needed =)
#4….. Only # 1 if he is president/I think he is under the umbrella of the president but operates independent ?!
Executive.
Executive.
Executive.
Legistlative. the president is the ONLY person and part of the executive branch and judical would just be a retarded answer.
