  • Jesus in Court

A picture of Jesus is hanging in a court.

    you-lift-me-up (bad jesus art)

The ACLU wants it to be taken down.  The picture of Jesus has a quote below it mentioning judging “correctly and wisely.”  So the court doesn’t believe it necessarily promotes religion.  Here is the link:  Link

Does a picture of Jesus in the court room automatically mean the court is promoting religion?

  • Sodaholic

At one time I was drinking about 5-7 bottles of Pepsi a day.  I have cut back to no Pepsi, Coke or any kind of soda.  It is actually a little of a challenge to break from it.  I see people with the same draw to coffee.

Would you consider yourself a sodaholic?

  • A Day At the Beach

I was sitting next to this woman at the beach.

Model reading women magazine on beach

We watched this pregnant woman walk by and we both commented on how a pregnant woman shouldn’t wear a bikini to the beach.

Then we saw this hairy guy and it grossed us both out.  How could he go to the beach looking so hairy?

    Big hairy man

We saw a fat lady walk by and we couldn’t believe she would go in public looking like that.

    Par de Timbas

We saw this super skinny lady walk by and we thought she looked terrible in her outfit.

    The Skinniest Lady EVER

Then I realized the negative impact my friend was having on me.  I realized that just talking to her was making me superficial.  It was causing me to be something that I didn’t want to be.

So I decided to not be friends with her anymore.  I wasn’t going to judge people based on how they looked.

Plus she had two tattoos and that totally grosses me out.

Do you struggle to be around such superficial people?

  • Cheese Sandwiches

An elementary school district is getting tough on students when their parents are falling behind on paying for their school lunches.

  • Paris Watch

It won’t be long now and Paris will be out of jail.

    Photo

When Paris was first ordered back to prison, the media covered the event on several stations.  My son was flipping through the stations and he asked me “Why is Paris so popular?”  I said, “Her parents are rich.”  He said, “They are rich.  But why is she so popular that she would be on every station?”

It reminded me of an article that I once read that asked the question, “Why is Paris famous?”  She has a lot of money. But there are a ton of people with a money.

    Why is Paris famous?

  • Cell Phones, Sugar and Internet

A Junior ROTC program began a camp that challenged 117 teen cadets in a JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge.  The teens had to go eleven days without sugar, cell phones or the Internet.  Here is the link:  Link

Which would be the most difficult for you to give up:  sugar, cell phones or the Internet?

  • Barack Obama and the Christian Right

Sen Barack Obama said that right-wing religious leaders have caused division in politics and faith.

He said, “Somehow, somewhere along the way, faith stopped being used to bring us together and started being used to drive us apart. It got hijacked.” He also said, “Part of it’s because of the so-called leaders of the Christian Right, who’ve been all too eager to exploit what divides us.”  Here is the link:  Link

Have the religious right hijacked the faith?

  • Rape and Repressed Memory

A man has been arrested and charged with raping a woman 32 years ago.  Both him and the alleged victim were 16 years old at the time.

The alleged victim didn’t tell anyone about the rape for the 32 years.  A spokesman for the Attorney General said “The traumatized victim decided back then not to tell anybody what happened and repressed the memory of it until recently.”

The man accused of the crime “is now married, has two children who are high school age or older, and has never faced any criminal charges before — not even a traffic offense.”   Here is the link:  Link
