Always- I tried to think of an exception but I can’t.
First?
Judging people by their skin tone…I would say yes.
Especially if they are pulling the race card.
I don’t see how it can be good.
YIPPEE!
Seriously, though, racism the way I define it can never possibly be a good thing. And that makes me wonder why on earth people, myself admittedly included, insist on perpetuating any sort of racial stereotypes. I need to stop laughing at black jokes (but intereseting side point, it’s my black friends who tell them.)
I don’t think racism is ever good…
Yes

”Discrimination or prejudice based on race” is never right.
Only if them niggers and kikes and stupid bitches talk back about it!
I think so, though culturalism (discrimination or prejudice based on culture) might not me. For example, I hate ghetto culture. I don’t think that’s wrong.
I think it’s bad.
Being mean is always bad. Except when you’re talking to a credit card company that drags their feet in taking care of business.
well, being a minority, i would say that racism sucks.
I can’t think of a reason why it’s not.?
So, yeah.
Yes.
Hummm…maybe it depends on how you are racist, or how you define being racist?
Sometimes I think people have a vaild reason not to like someone, or be catious of someone due to their race based on past experiences.
I guess I’ll be stoned by all the above people now.
XristosAnesti has a good answer.
Only when they are used for hating and hurting others. If it is used in self-depreciation or humor with no bad intentions, it’s okay. Probably.
well, yes. because it implies that you’re being judgmental rather than simply stating facts.
Oh man, this is way too broad. It’s like, “Is murder always bad?” You can say one thing, but there will always be an exception.
Well, is there such a thing as racism against…. murder? If so, then it’s not always bad. But if you’re referencing it to such things as the racism in Germany, when Hitler was there. Or racism of when we had slavery in this country, then yes, it’s all bad.
unless you can think up some way that it has helped anyone, no.
Yes, no matter what side you’re on.
Yeah. Some people abuse that tho. And say they are being discriminated against when they really aren’t.
Racism by definition–the belief that one race of people is better than another by virtue of their birth–is wrong. However, when people say ‘racism,’ they often mean racial profiling–using race to determine whether someone is more or less likely to do something or be a certain way–and that is merely statistical truth.
Yes, duh.
It all depends on your definition really. Personally, I hate all races, so maybe I’m a racist. I think shit can come in all colors, and does, more often than not. 95% of the people on this planet are pieces of shit, and that supercedes race I think.
I particularly detest white people, which is why, if I ever decide to reproduce, it will be with a woman from some minority group. I think this will work out as a nice arrangement. She can use my whiteness, and by then, my wealth, to ensure that her offspring are less discriminated against. And I can be sure that my children have a culture and an identity, which is something that we white people lack, unless you’re half-retarded and like NASCAR, or are a Baptist. (Really though, there aren’t many differences between those two groups.)
That is all.
Yep.
It depends.
I have yet to find a instance that it was a-okay.
Duh, YEA!!
Never seen an upside to racism…
I can’t think of a time when racism is ever a good thing…
absolutely. Not to say that sometimes stereotypes aren’t accurate, but you can’t judge everyone of a race based on that.
i can’t think of a time when it wouldn’t be.
I think it is. Unless you have an example, like The Snuke episode of South Park.
Yes
If it was simply noticing differences, or some other harmless thing, it would not be racism.
yes, but recently I’ve seen many more minority racists than white racists.

It is wise to discriminate at times. One does not give one’s car keys to a wild 14 year old. To discriminate based entirely upon race though, unless for medical reasons (as in if one is looking for a specific gene pool to help cure a hereditary disease or something), is really vulgar and demeaning.

No, Dan, sometimes it’s good to blindly hate people for no real reason.
When is it ever acceptable?
Racism is just bad. Virtually no one believes otherwise any more. The pertinent question in society today is not whether it’s wrong to be a racist, but are there ways in which our actions are racist without us being conscious of it. Is profiling racist? Is affirmative action racist?
Yes. Unless you’re a squirrel. Then you’re entertainment.
I’ve seen many a minority pull the race card to their advantage. Notice there are things that are ok for blacks and hispanics to do/say but if a white person does/says something along those lines lawsuits and the media go flying and next thing you know they’re apologizing to the Reverand. Catch my drift??
Racism is wrong, I really don’t like that it’s even an issue but that’s human nature at work for ya.

Actually, racism is taught. We aren’t born racist, our society has evolved into one with racial tendencies thanks to slavery and segregation. Our grandparents were taught if you look different you are different. If there was never any segregation or slavery, we would all see people as people. It’s nature BECAUSE of what we have been told. Just like in those countries that are taught to believe all Americans are evil and must die. It’s not “human nature”, it’s how they were brought up.
Let’s think of a hypothetical here…
The US starts the draft again… Uh-oh! But they are racist against blacks and decide that they don’t want them protecting our country. They believe in guerrilla warfare but not gorilla warfare [in fact, they adopt that as their campaign slogan]. The first 20,000 troops sent overseas die, all for various reasons. Some are shot down in their planes, others’ boats are sunk, and still others die in battle.
Would that racism have been a good thing for the blacks?
This_is_important, I have never been more convinced that you are an idiot.
Pretty much… even when it’s “desirable” like in this_is_important’s comment… Some people consider dying for their country an honour, and I’m sure many African AMERICANS would be offended to be excluded from military service.
yes.
To put yourself over another person? Yes. God created us all equal and in His own image.
Song for children: “Jesus loves the little children. All the children of the world. Red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world.”
This_is_important, I have never been more convinced that you are an idiot.
Is this because I thought you were a boy? Or maybe I’m thinking of Tallon5…
Anyway, I digress.
Depends upon your definition of “racism”. As a general American would think: yes, it is liably 96.2% bad.

hmnn.im jus curious as to wat made u bring up the question. But the way i see it racism is never good. Why we have to judge sumone according to their race still botheres me. It really should be about charcter. I know thats an overused term but it really should. There are good people and then their are bad people. IN EVERY RACE. So racism is never good.

yes, its extremely hateful… which is bad.
why, are you trying to justify your actions, dan? just kidding =]

Yes, especially since we are all human and “race” is just a way of classifying people. Why did we decide to classify people by skin color? It could have been by hair color, or height, anything. I think the only real “race” is the human race.
“Sometimes I think people have a vaild (sic) reason not to like someone, or be catious (sic) of someone due to their race based on past experiences. I guess I’ll be stoned by all the above people now.” -ArmyGreenUnderwear
No, that would be prejudice….and just when I started to have some faith that our Xanga community contained informed and enlightened people who were “smarter than a fifth grader”. Being cautious of entire race of people based on your past experiences is asinine and invalid at best.

Racism is bad, always. Keeping illegals out of the country ( no matter what race) is right.
Absolutely.

prejudice of any kind,/b> is wrong, and it isnt until a person experiences it firsthand, that they realize it.
Someone tell me how it’s good in any way and I’ll kick you in the nuts (whether you have some or not)!!!
Yes. As St. Paul points out in Acts 17 we all came from the same ancestor and so are all part of one race. This is a truth affirmed no matter how one interprets the first chapters of Genesis. Therefore racism is simply an excuse for superiority; one “race” cannot be superior or inferior to another because the “races” do not exist. Jonathan Edwards took an original approach to this issue in his “Original Sin”. His motive in publishing the book was to prove that the English were not superior to the Native Americans. He had long preached that they could not be because all are equally sinful by nature before conversion (he was working as a missionary and Native rights activist at the time).

racism: a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one’s own race is superior and has the right to rule others. The last part is always bad and messed up. The first part… is messed up too. Never mind. So much for trying to dissect the definition.
I avoid absolutes, but seeing as racism manifests itself in such absolutes, I would be reluctant to say that much good has come from racism
pretty much…
Yes, I can’t think of an instance in which it would be acceptable. And I hate it when people try to get out of, say a ticket or something by accusing the cop of giving them the ticket because of their race.
It.Is so.Annoying.
I’m not saying it’s always the case that the cop is not to blame, but come ON. It is just so overdone… it’s like the boy who cried wolf. Nobody’s going to believe you if people keep using the race card to get out of tickets.
It’s always bad but you can’t help people being racist. Even though racist jokes are funny sometimes its still pretty bad, especially around younger kidS! If they hear you saying something they’ll take it in and the racism will go on forever! And we don’t want that!
definitely. the color of a person shouldn’t matter neither should the prejudgments made upon it.
This was an interesting question, and I’m not sure how to answer it.
Of course, rasicim is a horrible thing that has lead to some of the biggest wars in history. But I cannot stand it when people pull the ‘minority’ card. In my eyes, all people are equal as far as skin colour goes. I get annoyed when people try to take advange of a bad situation by saying ‘I’m a minority! This is racism!’
Not always bad.
Yes, as a whole it blinds us to real motivation. We could be afraid of, say, middle-easterners and search them at airports but let by Timothy McVeigh [sp?].
Yes, definently….discrimination based on a color shows great stupidity and hate..my dad is racist and I was in a relationship with a black boy for almost 4 years, I had to give him up so my parents wouldn’t disown me. Racism is pure hatrid.
No, sometimes it’s very useful. Like when deciding where to live and raise children, considering that there are some races that are convicted exponentially more than other races in rape, murder, theft, drugs, etc. And if you’re even thinking of a specific race, then get off it, you’re racist too.
I hesitate to say always to anything…but possibly/probably.
Is this a serious question?
We are all the same on the inside: we are human and we need love
It is ALWAYS bad! Let’s remember that minorities can also be racists.
Racism is always bad.
I really can’t think of an exception.
I’ve felt hatred to a particular ethnic group at one time. But I knew it was wrong then and I know it’s wrong now. You are never justified in hating a group of people because of their race.
My best friend is from brooklyn. She’s puerto rican and we live in a lily white community.
So I can say from expirience, that racism is always a terrible thing.
Racism is one of those words with an indefinite spectrum of meanings and connotations. There are strong and obvious cultural and genetic corrolations with race, and this is an aspect of racism that none of us can escape. Race, as a basis for uncritical, group-hate… well, it’s bad. But we can hardly blame cases of European Jews for hating Germans post-WW II nor can we blame ill-will towards Whites by some Southern Blacks during the mid-1850′s to early 1860′s. If one is indeed an angry racist, I only ask that that person have thought out his reasons well enough to understand his position wholistically.
Racism and Reverse Racism IS wrong We are all created by ONE GOD.

Racism and Reverse Racism IS wrong We are all created by ONE GOD.
when is it good?
Yes
LAST!
