Paris Loses Inheritance
Paris Hilton has lost her $60 million inheritance from her billionaire grandfather.
He was upset about her sex video but the jail term for drinking and driving was the final straw. Here is the link: Link

$60M is excessive for an inheritance, but it wouldn’t be out of the question to leave her with $1M or so. I think that is relatively fair.

it’s his money to give and take away. it’s harsh but maybe not permanent. maybe he’s just showing her some tough love (which her parents obviously failed to do) and trying to get her to screw her head back on straight. Perhaps they’ll reconcile and he’ll return her inheritance once she starts acting her age and living a life worth living
I think that the family patriarch has a responsibility to not only his living family members but to the family name and honor as well. While the Hilton family built something enduring, Paris’ behavior seems to be overly concerned with fleeting desires that will ultimately signify nothing.
The old adage goes: Rome wasn’t built in a day. And I think that Paris’ grandfather recognizes that an enduring honorable legacy that will benefit both society – much of the money is going to charities – and his family is, at the moment, contrary to his granddaughter’s behavior.
Given Paris’ exposure and opportunities and access to earning loads of money, I do not think that such an act is too harsh.
I’m sure she thinks it’s harsh too, so it’s not just you. :) It’s his money to do with what he pleases and if he chooses not to give it to her then more power to him.
ryc: thanks for your comment. My family did try to get her to go to the hospital last night but she just didn’t want too. Hopefully today she’ll get an appt. with the doctor and he’ll send her to the hospital. she’s always been a bit stubborn, but she likes her independence and she doesn’t like to appear “weak”.

a part of me is in total agreement with Grandpa, but on the other hand I can’t help but feeling sorry for her. I have almost no money, do full-time volunteer work, see my family only twice a year, yet I am one of seven kids, I’m crazy about my siblings, my parents are still together, Christ is my Savior, and I think it’s safe to say am more content and happy than she with her 60 million dollar inheritance.

Actually last year I watched Oprah interviewed some grandkids/ children from very wealthy families, and their parents/grandparents decided not to let them inherit all of those money. It wasn’t punishment, just one of those parental guidance that they believed in. “Never to speak about wealth.” The children were all fine about it, they’re able to manage making money on their own. And of course, grew up to be ordinary citizens.

On one hand, cutting someone out of their inheritence for serving a month and a half in jail is kind of harsh. On the other, she’s rich anyway and doesn’t need anymore money. Maybe this money will go somewhere useful- like charity, or AIDS research….instead of getting Paris a designer’s clothing shopping spree. Who knows? Well, considering her grandpa just received a huge amount of money for selling Hilton to a private equity company, yeah that’s a bit harsh. But, I think she’s probably doing well in her smaller business lines – enough at least to preserve her standard of living. She’ll survive – hopefully it just makes her a smarter business woman. I’m not going to hate, I haven’t heard anything negative about her since she got out of jail.
