Damien French pulled off a woman’s hijab.

A hijab is a religious headscarf.

He is being charged with racially aggravated common assault.  He may face a prison sentence.  French saw the woman walking with her sister and two nieces.  She avoided making eye contact with him.

French pulled on the hijab and knocked out the pins that were holding it in.  French’s lawyer said that the hijab didn’t actually come off and the woman had no injuries.  He said that it was “clearly more of a mark of disrespect than an attempt to cause injuries.”  Here is the link:  Link

A new federal policy has been introduced that requires the checking of hats as part of airport security.

So after a person has passed airport security, the screeners can still search a hat or pat it down to check for illegal items or weapons.           

There is a group called the Sikhs that believe that the new policy is focused on those who wear turbans.  They think that the extra check is racial profiling.  Here is the link:  Link

Racial segregation in schools is when students are separated in different schools by race.  The government does not separate them by race.  The people tend to move around and segregate themselves.

The Supreme court ruled in June against local efforts to integrate schools.  Here is the link:  Link

Should it be a goal of the government or any other organization to insure that there is diversity of races in schools?

What is the worse injury you have ever received?    

Dustin Chester stopped a thief from running away from The Home Depot with stolen money.

The Home Depot rewarded him by firing him.  Dustin confronted a man who was standing by a soda machine with a crowbar and money.  When he confronted the man, he started to run.  So Dustin caught the thief and restrained him until the police arrived.       

Dustin didn’t know it was against company policy to catch or detain thieves.  Here is the link:  Link
