I suppose I have, in a small way. My bro definitely thinks the cat is a member of our family!
yes
good morning dan.
When I was a kid, yes. As an adult, no.
My cat is definitely like a daughter to me. So, yes, very much so.
Yes I have considered our (at one time) 4 cats 2 dogs and rabit part of the family.
Yup.
when my dog first came, no… but now i can’t imagine the house without her…
of course
Never had a pet.
yes… and often the most important part. Sometimes I believe my cats are what keep my family sane.
I think most people do, and I could see it if you had an affectionate pet, but my bird hates humanity, so I don’t know, lol. Although, he’s been around so long, I’m still going to be sad when he dies.
yes
Oh, please. No. Except perhaps when I was a child.
Yes and no. I considered it to be, but not on the same level as say my sister. Same level as my brother, yes, sister and parents, no. = )
absolutely.. and thats a long haired daschsund!!! just like what i have!! arent they so cute??
yep
Well…if I had a pet I just, but I would NEVER kiss a pet on the lips that’s just insanely gross.
Yes. My dog is my “son”.
Our cats are our children.
Yes. We had a dog for 14 years; it was hard not to consider her part of the family. And she definitely thought she was human!
yes they are!!!!! they are loved, get on your nerves sometimes, and have to be taken care of.
PeAce Love Soul
yes, but I also kick members of my family when they crap on the floor.
My cat is! Haha. He participates in all the family events!
Yes..
Absolutely. That evens the playing field in this house: Two guys, two girls.
yeah, I have a retarded little sister named Jasmine who is unfortunately quite furry.
Yes, definately.
My dogs are most definitely my children.
She’s a part of the family much like my pants are a part of me.
I didn’t have these when I started, but I would sure miss the hell out of ‘em if they were gone.
Yep.. my dog is the Princess of our house.
Yup… within limits…
yes, i even bought them social security cards… but maybe i shouldnt tell you that.
Not in the same way, but you still have to consider their needs such as food, care, and a place to sleep.
Definately.
Heck yes!
Yes, my uncle.
Yes…he’s my brother
yes
yep
well i talk to my animals like they’re my kids, but i know for a fact that they’re not kids – does it make sense???
To a point, I do. It’s another “person” that needs care for, food and whatnot. But I won’t go so far as to throw them a birthday party or anything…
i consider my pets to be companions but not on the same level as humans. In other words: they are treated well, cared for and loved, but they don’t get to eat from the table or anything.
yep. our dog is actually our 1st child… this will be our 2nd.
of course. Pets are family.
AristotleForDummies: you have been cracking me up for a few days now.
Yes, absolutely!
Yes, absolutely!
all of my pets are a part of the family! a dog and 4 cats!
Very much so. My dog Maggie goes everywhere with us.
yeah. We’ve got two dogs, and somehow they got themselves referred to as “the boys”.
My pets are my children, so yes, very much so.
YES !
If God can consider humans as family, a human should be able to consider a pet as family.
No.
Yes, at least the dogs – especially the kids do. I consider them less “children” than I did when I was younger. To the kids, they are like brothers and sisters. I admit, they are nice to come home to, and they smile when they see us.
I think a better question would be, have I ever NOT considered a pet to be part of the family? and the answer is no. Well, there is this one renegade chicken….
In a sense yes, but I have keep things in the proper order or my priorities get out of wack!
You know what my answer is, Dan! Yep! My Tazie is like a furry daughter to me!
a half-member
liek when our dog is outside a long time other people think its mean. Im like – Hes a dog – lol, unless its cold or raining the dog will be fine.
Daniel (doubledb)
uh duh, all three dogs and my cat
A member as in call me Mama? No,a part of the family who we love and take care of ,yes. Thanks for the Birthday wishes Dan.
People who treat animals like objects should be treated in kind, since they are, in fact, animals.
I don’t see any fruit growing from your branches.
absolutely yes. i had a cat for 18 years and it was so weird and sad when she died
Yes…. but there are some exceptions to this behavior.
yes i have a ‘baby’ and a ‘brother’ they are both dogs.
definitely.
ha, i don’t think i know how to treat a pet as a “pet”.
yeah. since my mom is allergic to every living thing other than goldfish and humans, we were deprived of a family pet.
aaand then we discovered a breed called Siberian, which are supposedly hypo-allergenic (i don’ tknow if its true or not), and my mom is honestly not allergic to him.
so we love him like a little brother since hes our first real pet. it gets kind of rediculous sometimes.
yup.
of course
My dad considers our black lab is his son.
Yep. I always thought of my dog as a rambunctious retarded human who never learned the English language. Who also had some sort of weird condition which caused hair to grow out from everywhere. Kudos oh Kudos, you crazy creature. -David
Yes. It may sound a little “80-year-old-cat-lady-ish” but my dog is definitely a member of the family
yes
yes my cats are my kiddos
why would anyone *not* consider the pet as a member of the family? on many days, my pet is more important than the rest of my family.
I consider a dog a necessary part of a family, since I’ve always had a dog. But not a full-fledged member of the family.
Our dogs are a part of the family, to be sure, but they’re also still dogs. We love them and care for them, we call them “the boys”, and our dogs are intelligent and communicate pretty well for dogs (of course sometimes they’re also really stupid and do things like running into trees). But as much as we love them, there’s a limit on what we’ll do for them. They’re “real dogs” as we like to say, as opposed to frou-frou dogs. They go camping and run around and get dirty and chase squirrels in our yard. But they’re dogs, so when it comes to the end of their life we aren’t going to spend $500 dollars each to get them cremated separately so we can have the ashes, and we aren’t going to spend thousands of dollars on an operation/medication that will just give them another year or two of being old.
Not really, but Bananna considers her cat and bunny to be members of the family.
We definitely consider our cat a member of the family, in fact it must be the most important, becaus it gets away with crapping on the carpet occasionally, which I couldn’t.
I’ve never gone past goldfish. No time.
Um, yes. I had my dog, Pepper, for fourteen years. When someone came and hit her and drove away, I swear I almost went after them. Aha. I go up to her grave sometimes and talk to her. I might be a little insane.
yes, they are better than a pet. its family
yep
Yes…and Ive also considered members of my family as pets.
Like the emo kid that lives on my couch…no actual relation but he’s about as useful as my dog. Except my dog eats less and is alway happy to see me. Emo’s are never happy to see anyone…in fact they’re never really happy.
that is all
Absolutely! And my cats are smarter than a few members of my family
Yes, I have, but I have also made the choice to give up pets when there were conflicts between the animal and either my own or anothers well being. I also will keep eating animals too(I eat fish while my current fis swims in his bowl^_^ for example)
Yes.
And lossing the cat I raised from the moment he was born was horrible. I won’t say like loosing a child because I don’t want to insult someone who has been through that.
yes, they add another dimension to my life.
I’ve always thought of our pets as part of the family. I have a dog like that!
I do, but I really don’t like it when people consider them to be their “kid”. My parents would tell my dog to go to “sister” and that was me, and I found that to just be weird. Pets are apart of the family, but they’re pets, nothing more, nothing less. Doesn’t mean you love them less, but they fulfill the role of “household pet”, not “kid”.
oh yes! my 4 cats are family! ^^
Yes, my pets are part of the family. They come on vacation with us and we buy them presents, what’s really different from them and my grandma? Except they have worse breath?
uh.. nope.
Yeah, that’s why I haven’t taken care of an animal in a long time after I gave my dog away because I couldn’t handle him anymore.. Pets need love & attention.. Just like people.
yes
Of course!
definitely!
oh yes
Yes! My dog is my furbaby lol, my cats are spoilt. I love them all and they are taken into consideration as any other member of the family.
YES
Yes! @__@ My dog understands me better than my mommy does, I think. If he’s not my family, he is without question a very, very good friend.
Eh. Pets have had their place in our family, but we never considered a pet to be equal with a child or any other human. They were just well-loved animals that we took care of and spoiled in silly ways.
def not! Eeeeeeew. Animals are not Family maaaaaaan.
of course,
Heck Yeah!
yes. hedgehog is like sister. <3
Kind of like a junior member. They don’t get to vote at family meetings.
yes….but my mom doesnt let em in the house. :/

YES.
Yes! Haha
yes. my mom takes it so far she calls my dog my BROTHER.

i asked my mother and she said “yeah… aren’t they all?”
my hamster is my son and i love him very much. his older siblings (two trombones) watch out for him.
yes!
Definitely. Our pets get fed, live in our house, sleep on our beds, have emotional bonds with us…I consider my pets members of my family.
Yes, BEFORE we had kids.
Yes! Dach Holiday is currently the only other member of my family living in my house. He is certainly a family member.
heck yeah. my dogs have so much personality though, that it would be impossible NOT to.
Definately yes. My dogs, Noel and Laddie, are definately family members. Other pets (like rabbits or fish) I don’t consider a part of the family.
for sure!
tho i ges there’s different times of defining family (e.g. gov’nt docs, as opposed to chatting casually with others)… but don’t u rem schools askin who are ur family members, including pets??
Absolutely.
Yep, my doggy Sadie is every bit part of my family as my unwanted Step-Brother. ;D
Most definately. I couldn’t imagine life without all of our pets.
