  • One Single Master

Russian President Vladmir Putin accused the U.S. of trying to make itself the “one single master.”

    Photo

Putin said, “What is a unipolar world? No matter how we beautify this term it means one single center of power, one single center of force and one single master.”  Here is the link:  Link

Is the U.S. attempting to dominate the world?

  • Does ice melt?

  • Hell, I hope so.

Although with luck the Buddhists’ll kill us all before we set the Bible Belt plague on the rest of the world.

  • Yes, all sensible nations which are in a position to do so generally try to do so. Personally, I think we dropped the ball back in ’45 when we could have easily made it a reality by knocking out the Soviets, etc.

  • Eh, probably. Putin’s just jealous because Russia failed to.

  • I think they are doing it; whether they are trying to or not is debatable.

  • Well shit. They finally caught on.

    Those sneaky Russians…

  • Putin has a lot of criticism thrown at him these days but he’s “making the trains run on time” again over there and that’s admirable.

  • If we are, we’re doing a better job at destroying it. Mission accomplished, let’s go to Mars.

  • Sure seems like it, huh? Good thing we suck at it. I don’t think the world would last long if we were running things…

  • I agree with latte_grande.

“Sure seems like it, huh? Good thing we suck at it. I don’t think the world would last long if we were running things…”

  • of course. that’s the long term goal of all nations and all people.

  • ugh…they found out our evil plan…darn…

  • Yes. Because we’re bad-ass that way.

  • yeah, I would definately say so.

  • Of course.  If he were able, Putin would too.

  • unipolar world?

did someone say that… honestly, because of technology the world is becoming more tightly nit – but is that America’s fault? I do not think there should be one goverment or one nation in charge. yes, the U.S. is a mega(super)-power… but i do not think they have sole power and authority. And as we can see in the reactions of other nations – if we dont pull back in some places we may fall just like past major powers who expanded to far and were strecthed to wide instead of staying in their place. I am still all for America.. I love my country.

  • so it seems.
that Putin is a smart guy.

  • Without a doubt, yes.

  • Yes we are…

Irony: Perhaps Putin’s only mad because communism was supposed to accomplish the same thing and failed?

  • Yes we are.  The European Union is trying to dominate us.  We are once again Russia’s prime enemy.  The radical Muslims hate us.  France has always hated us.  Chavez hates us.  Iran, North Korea, Syria, Libya, Jordan….I am “running out of Ink.”  And China is silently waiting for all hell to brake loose, so it can be there to take the throne.  The United States is in its end times.  I am damn glad I won’t be alive to witness our once great country implode.

  • Hell, it is about time he caught on, this has essentially been foreign policy since WWII.

  • Of course that is what the US is trying to do, and it is what every country would try to do in our position.  Humans in groups are just bad. Any other country would behave just as poorly.  Doesn’t make it right, it is how it is.

  • Yes, but don’t hate me because I’m beautiful

  • Coming from the guy trying to rule the arctic circle?

  • Taking baby steps.

  • Yeah, the US is trying to dominate the world.

Maybe someday I’ll move to the UK to remove the stigma of an idiot conservative American from me?

  • Yes.  And trying to give the rest of the world *freedom* at the same time.  I don’t think it’s working.

  • It seems that way. I just wish we could use our “power” in a more positive way on the international front.

  • will I be the lone dissenter?  say what you will but with great power comes great responsibility.  Nowhere in the world are we mowing down anyone to increase our land or authority.  Is there corruption? sure, but the US is not out there trying to dominate anyone.  Since we are the sole superpower remaining in the world, sometimes we have to intervene in the affairs of others.  we have interests to protect just like any other nation.  what about the UN?  there is a one-world government in the making, although with their utter disdain for actually doing anything, they may not be as much of a worry.  so, no, we are not trying to “dominate the world”  dave out

  • At least the russians tell it like it is.

    ’nuff said….

  • Um yeah. Like, totally.

I’m just chuckling at the use of the word “unipolar”. I have a sick mind.

  • err… NO… the Brian is… duh!

  • I’m with Doubledb on this one.

  • In some ways, yeah. We seem to have trapped ourselves in a place where if we’re not interfering then we’re sending the message that we approve of whatever is going down.

  • I think President Poutine has been playing “Risk” a little too much lately.

  • Shhh…don’t let anyone know!!

  • from where i’m standing…..looks like it.

  • Um, duh. When are we NOT trying to dominate the world?

  • well, they were number one for so long, that the government can’t handle equal countries, haha

  • well if we were trying to take over the world we should have had puerto rico and maybe Mexico (because they’re all trying to come here)

  • Well gee if other countries could take care of their own shit we wouldn’t have to look tyrannical.

  • “Imagine all the people
    Sharing all the world…

You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one”

  • If we dont…someone else will….like Russian.

  • Heh, Manifest Destiny, man…

  • aaawww….I though the Russians were are buddies :(

  • nope. sorry, i don’t think so. we try to help people, but if they don’t want help than they will make their own system, but making people have more rights and say in their goverments instead of being killed for their opinions is ‘taking over the world.’ whatever.

  • yeah, i hate america.

  • No-I don’t think we are setting out to be the one and only. I think we are getting damned tired of people taking pot shots at us though.

  • Yes, no thanks to Bush and his Socialist way of dealing with things! I am back from Boston, wanting to go back.

  • Putin is most likely saying this because of how the USA has turned into a “world police”. Going into Iraq for Saddam is one of those key concepts of the notion. I don’t think this will be the case since everyone has seen how much of a farce the Iraq War turned out to be. And also, one action of policing does not constitute that we want to dominate the world.

If we discontinue the interferences and focus on ourselves, we will grow more powerful. That will not be a unipolar world – that will simply be a world where we are the most powerful. The USA is by no means declaring the “Fourth Reich”. We’re just among the best and retaining that status. There’s still always a couple other countries which are close to our power, namely China.

  • Eh, I forgot the Vietnam War and some others. But regardless, I think we will think twice before dropping into another country. And thus, we will not be attempting to declare ourselves king over anyone.
    -David

  • this is comming from the former kgb guy….remember……I think the point is he wants russia to be the OTHER point….a BI-polar world again.

  • Just as surely as Mexico is trying to take over the U.S.

  • i sure hope not . . .

  • “Is the U.S. attempting to dominate the world?”

    Remember the towers!

Dan you can do better than that with your question phrasing.

Now, were Putin’s remarks valid and true?

    Yes.

Haha… because unilateral actions are those of an outlaw.

    Outside the law. Nuff said.

  • Yes. And if that means killing all minorites, blowing up all Middle-Eastern countries (except Israel ofcourse) and setting the Bible Belt plague out into the ether than thats just something it will have to do

…. Oh wait, they’re already doing that!

  • no contest.

    yes they are.

  • Lol, as I have stated before on other websites, I wish the US would just pull out of everything for 10 years and let the world sort it out, The survivors would all be better for it(I am talking about everything, stopping all “police actions” and “humanitarian” aid, forcing out all illegals, and taking care of it’s own people.) It’s always the foreign governments that cry no matter what the US does. Let them handle everything on their own^_^

  • yeah, ego will do that to you.

  • Hasn’t that always been the goal?? lol

  • Ironic coming from Putin….  No I don’t think the US is trying to dominate the world (unlike Russia’s goal to dominate Europe and the Middle East)…..

  • the government is at least.

  • I vote Putin for sexiest world leader.

    Russian Mafia FTW

  • Yes, unfortunately.

  • No. It’s not our fault Russia isn’t as good.

  • JUST TRY AN STOP US, PUTTIN. LIKE D GREEKS, ROMANS, PERSIANS, MONGOLS, N D GERMANS, MEGALOMANIA IS D PROMINENT FEATURE OF A SUPERPOWER. EXCEPT UNLIKE THEM, D U.S. WILL RULE 4 EVER. JUST ASK ANY AMERICAN.

  • No, but I thought Russia was?

    On the news I saw the tried to claim the North Pole or whatever, and the USA wanted it to be open of all countries. o-o;

  • No just police it from the red commies………
there just to many terrorists and commies now….

  • Maybe not consciously, but we sure act like it.

  • Maybe not consciously, but we sure act like it.

  • Of course it is. It’s the American Way…

  • Yes, one country at a time. Using the US citizens money!

  • …yeah, it sure seems like it. Sounds unfair, but yeah, the US really looks like its trying to conquer the world, intervening in other peoples business way too often. I mean, can’t your government just, get over it and sort out your own problem first??

  • Yes, and I hate it.

  • I think recently the world is trying to change the U.S. Look at all the illegals coming in and trying to change U.S. Laws. Look at men like Vincente Fox who claim that Mexican Government cant do anything about it. Look at all of the cases where the illegals acctually break the laws and kill people and the police and courts seem unable to do anything about it because the civil liberties union say we are violating their civil rights(the same with terrorist combatants)
