  • Alicia Silverstone Nude for Vegetarianism

Alicia Silverstone did a nude commercial for PETA.  Warning:  The commercial may offend some people who like hunting.  Here is the video:

The commercial was pulled because it was thought to be too racy for TV.  Here is the link:  Link

Do you think the commercial is too racy for TV?

  • a little? idk…not my kindof taste.

  • They could’ve done something differently without having someone nude.

  • If they take out the butt shot it would probably be okay.

  • No.

I say we just shoot all vegetarians and members of PETA.

  • She didn’t specify what gives her energy and makes her feel amazing. Being nude?

Who cares. Americans are offended too easily.

  • Never mind. She did say vegetarian. Now I look stupid.

  • Peta is so lame. But although I don’t think it’s very racy, I doubt conservative America would want to see it.

  • I think it’s done tastefully, but since PETA is so fucking stupid, I’m glad it was pulled.

  • What’s wrong with naked herbivores?  I see them all the time standing out in pastures.

  • No, it’s ok.

  • Hmm . . . I think probably, but mostly because of the butt shot.  Because the majority of America has never seen a butt before.

  • who cares? its not that racy -but it does not even strike me as a good commercial
that means I think its bad.. lol

    Daniel (doubledb)

  • Damn.  I just remembered why I watched THE BATMAN MOVIE THAT SHALL NOT BE NAMED!!! and Clueless.

  • …she’s still alive?

  • I don’t think it’s that offensive personally, but I don’t think there’s a point to the nakedness. I object to that. Oh, and to Peta in general.

  • Not TV these days.

That commercial is offensive to carnivores both human and animal.  I mean, why doesn’t PETA go stage protests in the Serengeti whenever the lions are trying to hunt?  Or why don’t they protest against the keeping of housecats because cats eat mice?

If a vegetarian is someone who eats a lot of vegetables, what’s a humanitarian?

  • If this thing gets to 100 posts and I’m still the only one noticing that Alicia Silverstone is both attractive and nude, there’s something wrong with America.

  • well no but i also don’t know what being nude has to do with peta or vegetarianism….

  • that’s wayyyy too sexual for a commercial. music videos look like that these days, but i mean, what if it’s played during prime time or when kids are watching reruns of full house? awful.

  • what is the POINT of her being naked? it has nothing to do with peta or vegetarianism! . . .

  • Dear fellow xangan,

I have started a blog that is devoted to the campaign of Mike Huckabee. I do not mean to hound you, I am just trying to bring to light a candidate that is not as well known. My posts will be devoted to his stance on the issues. My first post is on the support of values voters to his campaign. If you consider yourself a values voter you may be interested in this piece. I encourage you to check out my site. I will try to update often, feel free to stop by anytime to learn more about his stance on the issues. Sorry for the intrusion. I hope you will take the time to investigate this candidate.

    Sincerly,

    A Concerned Citizen.

  • If the Butt shot goes then i think it would be fine…although it you lived in Italy or France people would not even look twice.

  • That grrl is looking GOOD.

  • Haha, Alicia Silverstone nude is hot. But it should not be used for a PETA commercial.

  • No it is no worce than a lot of others. PETA sucks

  • I  just dont see how that is going to get me to eat my vegetables…. I mean fine if she can show it but it didnt “whet” my appetite. haha!   …….pun

  • What a nude woman have to do with PETA?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

PETA are a bunch of people that need to be shot.

  • Peta must be getting pretty desperate to vamp up their “sexy/hipster” appeal.

The commercial is a little much, yes. And I’m a vegetarian. ;)

  • “Hypocrisy is the mother of all credibility problems, and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has it in spades. While loudly complaining about the “unethical” treatment of animals by restaurant owners, grocers, farmers, scientists, anglers, and countless other Americans, the group has its own dirty little secret.

PETA kills animals. By the thousands.

From July 1998 through the end of 2005, PETA killed over 14,400 dogs, cats, and other “companion animals” — at its Norfolk, Virginia headquarters. That’s more than five defenseless animals every day. Not counting the dogs and cats PETA spayed and neutered, the group put to death over 90 percent of the animals it took in during 2005 alone. And its angel-of-death pattern shows no sign of changing.

On its 2002 federal income-tax return, PETA claimed a $9,370 write-off for a giant walk-in freezer, the kind most people use as a meat locker or for ice-cream storage. But animal-rights activists don’t eat meat or dairy foods. And during a 2007 criminal trial, a PETA manager (testifying under oath) confirmed the obvious — that the group uses the appliance to store the bodies of its victims.

In 2000, when the Associated Press first noted PETA’s Kervorkian-esque tendencies, PETA president Ingrid Newkirk complained that actually taking care of animals costs more than killing them. “We could become a no-kill shelter immediately,” she admitted.

PETA kills animals. Because it has other financial priorities.

PETA rakes in nearly $30 million each year in income, much of it raised from pet owners who think their donations actually help animals. Instead, the group spends huge sums on programs equating people who eat chicken with Nazis, scaring young children away from drinking milk, recruiting children into the radical animal-rights lifestyle, and intimidating businessmen and their families in their own neighborhoods. PETA has also spent tens of thousands of dollars defending arsonists and other violent extremists.

PETA claims it engages in outrageous media-seeking stunts “for the animals.” But which animals? Carping about the value of future two-piece dinners while administering lethal injections to puppies and kittens isn’t ethical. It’s hypocritical — with a death toll that PETA would protest if it weren’t their own doing.

PETA kills animals. And its leaders dare lecture the rest of us? Skeptical? Click here to see the proof.

  • it’s not too racy…it just has nothing to do with eating meat…

    [obvious joke not included]

  • It got my attention =)

  • How does not eating meat, and being nude go together. It is too racy for tv, because there wasnt even a need for nudity in it…

  • 7 Things You Didn’t Know About PETA

    1) PETA president and co-founder Ingrid Newkirk has described her group’s overall goal as “total animal liberation.” This means no meat, no milk, no zoos, no circuses, no wool, no leather, no hunting, no fishing, and no pets (not even seeing-eye dogs). PETA is also against all medical research that requires the use of animals.

    2) Despite its constant moralizing about the “unethical” treatment of animals by restaurant owners, grocers, farmers, scientists, anglers, and countless other Americans, PETA has killed over 14,400 dogs and cats at its Norfolk, Virginia headquarters. During 2005, PETA put to death over 90 percent of the animals it collected from members of the public.

    3) PETA has given tens of thousands of dollars to convicted arsonists and other violent criminals. This includes a 2001 donation of $1,500 to the North American Earth Liberation Front (ELF), an FBI-certified “domestic terrorist” group responsible for dozens of firebombs and death threats. During the 1990s, PETA paid $70,200 to an Animal Liberation Front (ALF) activist convicted of burning down a Michigan State University research laboratory. In his sentencing recommendation, a federal prosecutor implicated PETA president Ingrid Newkirk in that crime. And PETA vegetarian campaign coordinator Bruce Friedrich told an animal rights convention in 2001 that “blowing stuff up and smashing windows” is “a great way to bring about animal liberation.”

    4) PETA activists regularly target children as young as six years old with anti-meat and anti-milk propaganda, often waiting outside their schools to intercept them as they walk to and from class-without notifying parents. One piece of kid-targeted PETA literature tells small children: “Your Mommy Kills Animals!” PETA brags that its messages reach over 2 million children every year, including thousands reached by e-mail without the permission of their parents. One PETA vice president told the Fox News Channel’s audience: “Our campaigns are always geared towards children, and they always will be.”

    5) PETA has used a related organization, the PETA Foundation, to fund the misnamed Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), a deceptive animal rights group that promotes itself as an unbiased source of medical and nutritional information. PCRM’s president also serves as president of the PETA Foundation.

    6) PETA runs campaigns seemingly calculated to offend religious believers. One entire PETA website is devoted to the claim-despite ample evidence to the contrary-that Jesus Christ was a vegetarian. PETA holds protests at houses of worship, even suing one church that tried to protect its members from Sunday-morning harassment. Its billboards taunt Christians with the message that hogs “died for their sins.” PETA insists, contrary to centuries of rabbinical teaching, that the Jewish ritual of kosher slaughter shouldn’t be allowed. And its infamous “Holocaust on Your Plate” campaign crassly compares the Jewish victims of Nazi genocide with farm animals.

    7) PETA has repeatedly attacked research foundations like the March of Dimes, the Pediatric AIDS Foundation, and the American Cancer Society, because they support animal-based research that might uncover cures for birth defects and life-threatening diseases. PETA president Ingrid Newkirk has said that “even if animal research resulted in a cure for AIDS, we would be against it.”

  • Probably without the buttshot..

  • Yes, because she is too ugly.

  • Please learn more about your local Humane Society animal shelter. For the most part, the Humane Society only euthanize animals that are absolutely unfit to be adopted out as pets. The Humane Society keeps the animals they get in for as long as it takes to find them suitable homes. In fact it is encouraged by the Humane Society that those who are willing and able to become “foster families” for some of the animals that come into their shelters. This way they are able to take more animals into the shelter. Please donate supplies to your local Humane Society. Donate not just cat food (that doesn’t contain red food dye) and dog food (that doesn’t contain red food dye) but unscented, nonscoopable kitty litter, kitty treats/toys, dog treats/toys, bleach, paper towels, and remember that they sometimes get in exotic animals like guinea pigs and rabbits so guinea pig and rabbit feed and treats would also be helpful. Yes, when I’m financially able to I buy such supplies in bulk for our Human Society in Harrisburg, PA. I’d rather help support them than PETA any damn day!

  • Uh, that doesn’t even make sense for a commercial.  What does a naked girl have to do with being vegetarian?

  • Um.. for sure..

  • What is up with PETA people and butts? “I became a vegetarian, and lost my clothes”

I’d rather have a burger, and my pants.

  • Yes. The bit with her coming out of the pool would have me leaping to cover people’s eyes.  Plus, it makes PETA look like the only way people would buy into their message or to being a vegetarian would be through sex.

  • so if you turn vegan you instantly can’t find clothes to wear?

  • I like to eat animals. And there’s a huge difference between treating animals ethically and not eating them. Gator, btw, is yummy.

  • “What does a naked girl have to do with being vegetarian?”

    Sex sells…anything and everything…even vegetarianism.

  • Great, so now even the crazy militant animal activists are catching on with the fact that sex sells!

  • makes me want to eat more meat! *scoffs*

  • Yes.

    I don’t think it’s appropriate.

  • Only the one part from the side where you sort of see her boobs. I don’t think anything else is too racy.

  • It’s racy only if you have eyes.

  • Yeah, definitely.

And WOW! I actually JUST watched Clueless on TV.  Weirrdd!

  • I agree with soultender: “What’s wrong with naked herbivores?  I see them all the time standing out in pastures.”

Before the fall Adma and Eve didn’t eat meat ( i think but I can’t say for sure) but then God gave us permission to eat animals, so it would seam that we didn’t before that. But I can’t remmember where that is in the Bible at the moment.

And if you don’t believe the Bible is true then disregard the statement.

And if you’re offended by the statement above the statement, don’t be.

    g-wiz im tired…………g’night

  • If she is really a vegetarian, then they should show her eating the grass around her.

  • lol, “I’ll carve off what I want and ride the rest. Forget about that, just bring me a LIVE cow over here.”

  • I don’t get what the imagery had to do with anything she was saying.
There was really no point in shooting any of that.

  • Of course, because America is more comfortable with a dripping wet ho in a thong than with a beautiful nude woman

  • only in the United States of the Offended, and we have a liberal media?

  • What? How are they drawing a connection between a nude woman and animal rights? If you support animals rights you’ll find yourself a hot woman? This is stupid. And most definitely a bit too racey for television, at least on the “normal” channels.
    -David

  • I do not get the connection between skinny dipping and being a vegetarian…the ad is not for children butt  fine for adults.

  • It’s rather stupid and pointless.  I think it should have been pulled for that reason, myself.  Too boring.

  • “I’d rather have a burger, and my pants”….Squeaks you are so stinkin’ funny!

  • I don’t see how this corresponds with being a vegetarian

  • it’s not too racy for me to see, but I wouldn’t want the kids I babysit, or any kid to see it. so yes.

  • no, but i don’t really see how her being naked has to do with vegetarianism.

  • I bet it got a lot of guys attention…whether they hunt or not!

  • …she’s still alive? Drakonskyr

    I thought the same thing!

    ’nuff said….

  • what commercial?

  • you had me worried.  OH well. It wasn’ THAT bad…but I think does a disservice to us all.  Her beautiful body has a different purpose than selling even her perhaps ‘”good’  idea.  She shouldn’t sell things using her sacredness.

  • i don’t see how alicia silverstone naked campaigns for the cause of vegetarianism.

  • Well, it is a quality piece, from a camerman’s perspective, but the video of her getting out of the pool has absolutely nothing to do with the subject matter of the audio.  From that point of view, it’s a very poor flick, and I dislike poor flicks.

All of that aside, she hasn’t said anything to persuade anyone to either become a veggie or not.  So what was the point.  Just a waste of money that happened to give her a little bit of prime time exposure (no pun intended).

Was it too racy for T.V.?  Not by today’s standards.  But then again, I don’t like today’s standards.

  • shakes head.. It’s sensual and its nudity. Take away the word peta..and its a seductive and naked girl trying to get your attetion. Why would that be ok to put on TV? I won’t let my boys  put posters of half naked girls on thier wall.. not alone watch it.

    Christina

  • you don’t really see anything..  except for the: 3 (rotate it)

  • No, it’s perfectly fine. People in America get offended too easily and feel the need to have everything be censored. I love PETA. I’m all for the commercial.

  • No, I really like the commercial.  It doesn’t explain why she feels better- is vegetarianism healthy, or is your conscious assuaged?  It also doesn’t quite seem to connect her vegetarianism with consideration for the animals.
I’m vegetarian for the same reason that she claims to be- I feel healthier- but I’m all for animal testing and hunting and whatnot.

  • it’s hot………. but what does it have to do with vegetarianism?!

  • i’ve seen racier on tv shows.  while i don’t get the “symbolism” (?), i don’t think it was bad at all.  people are such prudes.  she didn’t show a boob and it was just a quick peek at her arse.  so what?  i’ve seen more nudity in a cosmo girl magazine for teens.  btw, i’m a mother of two teenage girls if anyone is wondering why i have looked at a cosmo girl magazine.

  • Perhaps too racy for TV, but not the internet.  The ad is probably getting more PR exposure being pulled out than if the commercial had aired.

Perhaps that was PETA’s plan all along.  Ingenious marketing ploy!

  • I think it’s ok.

  • The stills were ok, I couldn’t see the video from you tube though, because the library I’m at today has a net nanny, and blocked it. I cba to ask the librarian over all the time to unblock things for me,lol

  • I tried an all-vegetarian diet once… but the meat’s kinda stringy and they’re really hard to catch.

Seriously, what’s the real point of this commercial? “Ladies and gentlemen, if you stop eating meat movie stars will skinny dip in your pool”? “To feel the best ever, just stop eating animals and stop wearing clothes”? “Just because we’re a retarded, pushy, intolerant organization, doesn’t mean we don’t have this one girl who’s good looking when she isn’t wearing anything”?

It seems to me like their grasping at straws.

  • I don’t get it… what does it have to do with hunting?!?!

  • How is that any different than all the other commercials. I didn’t see anything I haven’t seen before on TV.

  • It wouldn’t have been deemed ‘racy’ if they had picked a sexier girl.

  • Not against vegetarianism but, what does nude have anything to do with it?

  • Okay, I gotta say, I thought it was going to be something a lot worse, like graphic and bloody, like someone would try to hunt a human and compare it to hunting an animal.

  • I thought it was tasteful as far as random nude commercials. haha

  • I don’t find it offensive either, but I’m glad it was pulled from T.V, b/c it’s a little racy for kids.  In other words, my 8 yr old son doesn’t need to see it.

  • “It’s sooo amazing.”

Couldn’t she have a better line?  I’m not convinced.

  • If you’re gonna pull that for being too racy (which I don’t think is necessarily unreasonable), then you have to pull all the Victoria’s Secret commercials as well.  They’re just as bad.

  • Uh Yah I think its too racy.

  • Good Lord, no.

  • Anothermadhousewife: Do you let your son watch violent TV shows or movies?

  • Way for Alicia to Face!

    It’s not too racy

    It’s placy.

Alicia Silverstone is a wonder to behold

    For the animals she’s gold.

    They just don’t like anti-hunters

So they slam everything in the book

    Alicia Silverstone has race,

So how can she be racist?

She may be white, but she can still fight for animal rights!

  • PETA… grrrr… when they start caring for the lives of their own species as much as they do others, MAYBE i’ll begin listening.

no, not too appropriate for tv. little too much crack going on there. interesting how they went the whole “sex sells” approach on the matter- like gnawing on carrots is sexy, lol.

  • thanks to Lady Valk for the info- I hate that PETA’s headquarters are only an hour from where I grew up- they’re poisoning the beauty of VA, that’s for sure.

  • Yes. I saw her butt crack!

  • That was it?  They show breasts in Europe and we’re worried about a butt crack?  But it is very objectifying and they really don’t give reasons for being a vegetarian, so what they’re really saying is “Be a vegetarian because Alicia Silverstone is.”  Bleh.

  • So if I become a vegetarian…Peta will send
my very own alicia silverstone, clothing optional.
    Nice.

It’s not racy, nor is it really offensive as the link suggests…
Sex sells…it’s not relevant at all but obviously it works in getting
    attention.

  • While I will say PETA offends me in general, the statement made by Jerry Vlasak (spokesman for the Animal Liberation Brigade, which has been linked with PETA and has claimed responsibility for the attempted murder of two UCLA research doctors), “I don’t think you’d have to kill, assassinate too many. I think five lives, ten lives, fifteen human lives, we could save a million, two million, or ten million non-human lives.” offends me a good deal more than seeing Alicia’s butt crack. That commercial may be the least offensive thing I’ve ever seen come from PETA.

    Blue

  • That is definately too racy!  I wouldn’t want kids or “good” husbands and boyfriends seeing that!!!

  • I think it is a little bit too sultry.
