3 Drinks
I was just watching a doctor who was talking on Fox News. He said there was a greater change of breast cancer in women if they drank 3 or more drinks of alcohol a day.
For some reason that sounded like a large amount of alcohol a day.
Does a person who consumes 3 drinks of alcohol a day have a drinking problem?

Depends on why they drink it.
It’s more than likely.
depends what it is.
someone who drinks “oh a 12-pack or so” has a drinking problem
3 glasses of wine is not too bad.
3 shots of hardcore vodka, maybe so. every day?? c’mon.
If you are my size, three drinks a day, every day is a lot. But if you’re a 200 lbs man, that is not so much. One glass of wine, one shot of 80 proof vodka, or one beer, all have about the same amount of alcohol.
They say that those who drink two drinks a day live longer than those
who drink nothing at all. Maybe they are simply bored to death
Not always.
It probably depends where they’re doing the drinking. It does seem like a lot, but if it’s social, that’s a totally different realm than if they were doing it at home alone.
If it is everyday drinking then the answer is yes.. If once a while, I don’t think so.
A day, yes. A week, probably not.
Erm.. duh?
In fact, you’re much more likely to die from regular alcohol consumption than marijuana use. (Smoking marijuana does not actually increase your risk of lung cancer, despite all odds, by the way.)
If they feel compelled to have them…yes.
Depends on why and what it is. 3 glasses of wine a day with meals, I don’t think is so bad although still a bit excessive. What that Dr says is something to think about though.
..Naaa……. thats one for breakfast ,one for lunch, and one for dinner.
Its good to get plenty of fluids in your diet..
(bahahaha!)
yes.
Not necessarily, unless their genetics are predisposed to alcoholism.
Hah, sounds like my dad.
Not necessarily… depends in my mind whether they “need” it or why they’re drinking
what if you have a glass of wine with lunch
and a glass of wine at 6 pm when you get home
and a glass of wine at say 10 pm….
that puts it in a different frame but it is still 3 drinks a day
the breast cancer thing is a catch 22 situation
there are so many things that are uncontrollable…like when you first got your period…and when you go thru menopause…
that is RANDOM..
they just try to scare people…
just do the best ya can and go for the screenings…
And hope with all the $$$$$ the Komen foundation raises that someone will come up with valuable prevention instead of all this other stuff!!
LEAST we not forget MEN are at risk TOO!
i have heard that one glass is good for your blood and circulatory system but more than that is unhealthy. my mom drinks a glass of wine a day. she desided from a news thing about the french that it was a good thing to do. i don’t know how the french knew this stuff before everyone else. or how the eastern countries knew about yogurt before everyone else. it sounds like all good things come from other countries sometimes. i think the only good thing america has is tomatos. i think they originated here right?
Everyone’s so worried on the why. Yes, three drinks a day is a problem. They feel they need to drink with every meal or every day, that is a problem. They’re habitually addicted, much like smokers and ought to cut back for their liver’s sake if not for cancer. My aunt only had 2 drinks a day for a long time, but it was enough to give her cirrhosis. People don’t realize what alcohol actually IS. It’s rotten food and to be drunk is a mild case of food poisoning. Someone that needs to poison themselves that much has a problem. If 1 drink is 1oz, that’s 21oz a week, or 1,095oz of alcohol in a year. Try looking that way, that’s a lot of money on booze. Or 1 drink is 1 beer, that’s 1,095 beers a year… think about it…
1.5 oz of alcohol?
No, not really. Three beers is nothing.
It’s only a drinking problem if people harass you about it.
And then it’s their problem, dammit!
I think for a normal sized woman that is A LOT. But I don’t really drink so……
depending on their size, but i’d say no. I don’t have much experience with alcohol so i guess i dont really know for sure.
Everyone should believe in something, I believe I’ll have another drink…………
If it’s something like 3 drinks of straight vodka…that’s a problem.
Wasn’t it wine that helps?
depends on why they are drinking and how big the glass is
Probably.
Additionally: lol @ Faux News
Heavy drinking increases the chances for several forms of cancer. But that doesn’t really matter if your organs have already died from processing too much alcohol.
–MyJudas, a single joint is as bad for your lungs as ten cigs.
not necessarily. if they’re dependant on it or addicted to it, then yes, it’s a problem, but if you can stop without any problems, it’s not a drinking problem.
i believe so.
i mean, if it’s a daily routine, and you feel that you have to consume that much alcohal, there’s probably a drinking issue lying inside of that somewhere.
but that’s just me =]
Well, my husband who is a logger ( a hooktender to be exact) has been known to drink three beers in an evening especially when it is hot out, and not blink an eye. Me on the other hand if I have three drinkds of a beer then I am feeling loopy for a little while. I think that there is potential for a problem, if you are indeed drinking that much daily. However with that being said, I don’t think that “POTENTIAL” makes a problem. You have to take a hard look at all the supporting information, and lastly who am I to stand in judgement of a person and their choices? If I were to see danger than intervention is in order, but not judgement. There are worldly authorities and the Lord on High for that.
oh, and as far as what type of alcohol it is, statistically speaking there is the same amount of alcohol in a 12 ounce beer, a glass of (4 or 6 oz *can’t remember for certain*)wine and a shot of hard liquor…so a drink is a drink is a drink. That makes no difference except how you are choosing to justify it. Mixed drinks will often have more alcohol per drink, than a glass of beer or wine, so that needs to be accounted for. *I used to bartend, once upon a lifetime ago…*
i suppose that depends on the person. 3 drinks a day would certainly be a problem for me.
all at onec ?, or speratically through out the day ?
Ummmm .
I don’t think so.
Only a problem if you’re not in college anymore.
Everyday? It appears to be, but when I actually started to type out this comment, I realized that you could have a glass of wine at lunch, dinner, and maybe one before bed, and that isnt much at all.
It sounds like a huge amount to me. Even when I do have a drink, which is not even once a month, I tend to stick with just two drinks (spread out over the course of the night). Three a day seems excessive and the cost would overwhelming!
Drinking alcohol everyday seems like an issue to me.
Not really. Get off work, have a beer. Have a beer with dinner. Drink a beer while watching Tv after dinner. That doesn’t seem so bad.
define the volume of the amount and kind of alcohol
Does it matter if I drink to “drown the pain”?
Probably depends on who is doing the drinking. The drinkers I know don’t stop at three.
For someone who believes that alcohol is evil and human nature is weak then I guess one would consider 3 alcoholic beverages a day as too much. However, I’m not one of those people even though I used to abuse alcohol and drugs at one time. Three glasses of wine, 3 shots of whiskey, 3 beers… to me that is not very much at all and would not even get a good buzz going for me.
Probably depends on why the person drinks and if it’s all at once. Three drinks DAILY seems excessive.
I think a glass of red wine a day is supposed to be good for you, isn’t it?
Probably. I was having a discussion with my family this weekend about what constitues a lot of drinking. Someone said my cousins boyfriend drinks a lot. They thought they said that because they don’t drink. It’s probably only a few drinks (I felt otherwise).
sounds like a problem to me.
EVERY day? Probably. That’s about the equivalent of a guy drinking a 6 pack every night.
Did the guy mean 3 drinks every day, or just 3 drinks at a time?
What size are those drinks? I’d think they would if it was a 150 oz glass of beer as opposed to three 1 oz shots.
3 Drinks?
How big a cup?
If small there’s no trouble.
If big, they’re about to burst their bubble.
Yeah, I would say so. Women who drink 3 a day are usually more than social drinkers.
It depends on what they’re drinking, and why. If it’s wine at meals, then uh, no? And I mean, three beers throughout the day doesn’t seem to bad either.
But three drinks of hard liquor seems a bit iffy, haha.
how big are the drinks? are we talking shots or kegs? and what is the alcohol? wine? beer? smirnoff?
Perhaps, but it’s not much of a drinking problem. When I was at the peak of my consumption, I was drinking a case to a case and a half of beer every night. Now, if I have three beers, I feel quite pleased with myself for exerting so much self-control.
id say so
only 3?
If you drink 3 drinks every day then yea you got some type of problem.
Only if you’re a false convert
I would say there is a very good chance.
depends on the person because three shots or three glasses of wine is not that much in my opinion.
I’d say 3 a day would be a lot, if it was every day. If I were going to drink daily, it’d be a glass of wine a day. . .Gotta get those antioxidants.
i’d heard that wine – red wine especially- has healthful reservatols in it to improve brain function…
anything in excess causes cancer
is drinking 3x a day too much for a woman. probably so…
Dan, STOP WATCHING FOX NEWS – unless it’s for entertainment/ridicule purposes. I refuse to answer these Fox News related questions.
I think three drinks a day is an issue, especially if one or more of those drinks are consumed alone
That evidence sounds shaky. I mean, if two women both drank the same portion of alcohol, you’d still get different reactions. The numbers are not 100% conclusive there.
’nuff said…
Yes
If you have to have it first thing in the morning, you are an alcoholic. 3 drinks a day…maybe. 3 occasionally, I think not.
In my mind.
Depends on the size of the drink. If you’re downing three handles of Jack a day, well…
Yeah, 3 is a lot! I worked a detox unit…you have to start somewhere!
i think so. but there again, i don’t drink. i think i heard that was considered alcoholism, at school once… but i know not all my friends would agree.
There is a formula for that. One drink (the way I make them) contains two 1oz shots of 40 proof liquor. If you have one you feel good. If you have two you are useless. If you have three you’re drunk. I rarely pass the two drink stage.
Even though I am a drunk.
it depends
hmm…. usually when people have a serious drinking problem they drink alot more than 3
well, breast cancer runs in the family so I guess I’m screwed either way!
I think so but, what do I know, I don’t drink alcohol.
3 drinks…EVERY day? That sounds problematic…
