  • Presidential Candidate for Thankgiving Dinner

I went to the doctor today.  He told me my hearing is not improving.  I was really hearing my daughter’s voice out of my other ear.  When I was pressing the phone against my ear and hearing the dial tone, it was traveling through to the other ear because I was pressing it against my ear so hard.  Oh well, it was worth a shot.

    Here we go:

A poll taken by Quinnipiac University asked people what presidential candidate they would want over for Thanksgiving dinner.

    Biden                                   Giuliani

    Clinton                                 Huckabee

    Dodd                                   Hunter

    Edwards                              McCain

    Gravel                                  Paul

    Kucinich                               Romney

    Obama                                 Tancredo

    Richardson                           Thompson

Which presidential candidate would you most like to have over for Thanksgiving dinner?

  • First! Fred Thompson, my fellow Tennessean, of course.

  • Oh Dan I’m so sorry to know that. *hugs* I am still praying for you.

And… I don’t give a damn about the other people. I care more about DAN than them. (Ha, tongue twister.)

  • but i’d love to have hillary and rudy over for festivus. they need to hear my airing of grievances

  • Obama.

  • Kucinich

Think about how fun it would be to talk about space alien abductions, tales of past lives, and all the fantasies in that man’s mind.

  • I’m with Paige…only because that does sound like a good time and great dinner convesation.

  • Honestly  McCain. The man has seen things that few have. His experiences had to make him a very interesting person

  • Ron Paul, probably. But I’ve already met him once, so maybe Obama.

  • I don’t really want any of them at my table, but I’d love to make Giuliani wash my dishes. And I don’t have a dishwasher. That man needs some serious humbling.

  • P.S. Doctors aren’t always right, Dan. His explanations seem odd.

  • I’d want hill so I could kill her.

    Seriously though?  RON PAUL!

  • Sorry about the results Dan….dream anyway,I love ya.

  • RuPaul of course.

  • Oh, no… I’m so sorry, Dan.    But remember to keep that self-confidence up!  You now know that a big part of that confidence must come from within and it doesn’t have to disappear just because you can’t hear out of one of your ears!  Follow those dreams!

Let’s see…  Ummm… well – it is easiest to choose who I wouldn’t want to have over for Thanksgiving, but I’ll go with either Dennis Kucinich or Hillary Clinton (but only if she brings Bill, too — he seems like more of the socializer between the two of them).

  • I’m sorry about the news with the doctor – not that I can change anything, but I can understand how disappointed you are.  Please don’t let that ruin the holidays for you and the family.  I’ll be thinking and praying for you.

As for the question – I would like both Huckabee and Thompson so I could “pick their brains”.  Why is it no one has mentioned anything about a vice-president yet?  I think that is important to see how the presidential candidate is thinking.  I suppose that won’t be until later – heaven knows we wouldn’t want to take the spotlight off from anyone.  We only have a year to go!

  • Get a second opinion, Dan. Just like you told me. You know what you heard. Don’t let a doctor tell you that you didn’t. Don’t give up yet. Remember, you plugged your other ear with your finger. That doctor is just on crack. Go see a different one. One with faith.

  • None of the above? Hah. No, thanks.

PS: I lost my hearing in my right ear about a year ago, and I’m only sixteen. I know how incredibly frustrating that is.

  • All of them at the same time!

  • Dan, that’s got to be such a let down. I’m so sorry. Maybe they’re wrong?

I’d have Colbert. (I know he dropped out.) or Obama.

  • I wouldn’t want to eat with any of them!

  • sorry about your hearing.
Out of that list, I’d probably go with Giuliani.

  • I’m sorry too, Dan.

Kucinich. I want to talk about the workings of Shirley MacLaine’s mind.

They should’ve let Colbert run in South Carolina, though. He’d be a much more delightful dinner companion. We could have compare notes on Bill O’ Reilly.

  • Ron Paul or Obama, just ’cause they seem to be the nicest/most personable. I don’t care about their politics if it’s just for Thanksgiving dinner! lol The rest would be too politically annoying to have, I bet.

  • oh, and mccain can take the place of my uncle i don’t really know. i’d rather hear his stories

  • Ron Paul, please.  We would trash talk the Federal Reserve until late in the evening, lament over the horrible current state of American foreign policy, and give thanks for our Constitution.

  • hillary clinton is amazing, but i wouldn’t want a politician at my house on thanksgiving- politics and thanksgiving just don’t mix.

  • *agrees with another_rebel_without_a_cause about Festivus*

  • Even though you may not be regaining hearing in your ear, don’t stop hoping. The hope and confidence you gained from hearing through your ear was completely genuine, so there is no reason to start doubting.

  • Which ones arn’t going to win? They’ll need some cheering up from my wonderful family! (Hahaha)

  • Clinton.

Can I serve the candidate turkey that was left out the night before???

    Just kidding.

  • Kucinich all the way

  • I think most would be decent company.  I guess I’d go with Obama or Romney.

  • I’d just be thankful if they’d all go away for a little while.

  •  Huckabee would be my first choice and Thompson would be my 2nd.

  • I’m sorry your hearing is not improving…

I would have to pick Ron Paul

  • Well, Huckabee because he will be the best President, so I’d like to chat with him, Started to say something about one of the other canidates, but I held my tongue.

  • I think taht i would have Clinton over so i could talk some sence into her

then Ron Paul cause he is amazing

  • Kucinich. He just seems like he would be fun to talk to.

  • Huckabee:) he’s baptist, we’d have something in common

  • None..talk about torture.

  • Ron Paul but Obama too… cuz he seems pretty genuine too, even though I don’t agree with many of his policies.

traveling through your head to the other ear….? huh?
but my take is, if you’re experiencing hearing in both ears… are they not one and the same, whether or not the vibrations are traveling through your head or through the air?

btw… your previous post about lost confidence found… that was very profound for me.

  • Both McCain and Obama have lived extraordinary lives. I would want to know what it was like being a prisoner of war, but I don’t know if McCain would talk about it. Also, it’s probably not polite dinner conversation.

Obama spent some of his childhood in Indonesia and I’ve wanted to go there for a long time, so I’d ask him about that. Also, I would like to know what it’s like to go to Harvard Law.

  • Dan, sorry that the hearing isn’t back .  .  . yet.

As for dinner, Thompson.  He’d be a fun guest.

  • Sorry about the results… I hope there was diagnostic testing involved in what he told you and not solely based on his opinion…

  • I think Obama.

He just seems like a good guy.

  • Paul…I am not even American.

  • none, only family

but if pushed i would say Obama – I dont know why, he ust seems kinda likable… or maybe Edwards.

nope, no politicias at my dinner table – shouldnt we go out for coffee or lunch before meting with my family and having dinner? lol

    Daniel (doubledb)

  • Probably Kucinich.

  • Although I’d like to hear Dr. Paul’s explanation for being a free-market ideologue. I’d probably learn a few things and I find some of his stances appealing. Never thought I’d say that about a Republican candidate.

  • I would rather have the one I dislike the most as my guest and that would be HIllary Clinton.  Not only would she get her tummy full, she would also get an ear full.  I want to sense for myself the evil that surrounds her, which I have been told by a close friend of mine, who has met her on more than one occasion, that such an evil presence can be felt when you are around her.  Or at least my friend felt it and had to get away from her as soon as possible as it was making her physically ill.  No joke.

I would ask Mrs Clinton about her formative years when she first decided socialism was her preferred form of government.  And then we would progress from there to her being an enabler for her perverted husband who if she were elected would be back in the White House hitting on iterns again, all with her approval.  Then we would go from there to why does she lie about everything, and why can’t she remember anything? She wants to be president of the United States, but she didn’t remember the billing records on the table in the White House private quarters, she didn’t remember how she made $100,000 on a $1,000 cattle futures investment, she didn’t remember she hired Livingston, she didn’t remember she was the one who ordered the travel office employees to be fired and treated like criminals when they were innocent of any wrong doing, and these are just the first questions I would ask the Shebeast.  I have about 100 other questions I would ask her.

I doubt if she will stay around for the dessert.  LOL LOL

  • Huckabee.

Keep your faith in the One who created and can heal you.  Blessings to you Dan.

  • I am sorry Dan… I still believe…

  • Ron Paul, because he’d be polite, and probably wouldn’t spend the meal trying to buy our votes.

  • Totally Huckabee

  • Paul. But if I could kidnap the person and keep them from running, Clinton.

    ;p

  • I don’t want any of them, I wouldn’t know how to cook one. This comment didn’t require a lot of wit, but then neither do most politicians.

  • I join everyone else in saying I am sorry about the doctor today. Keep hoping.

As for the pres. cand.: I choose Thompson–but only if the law and order music comes too!

  • I think I’d rather have Ebeneezer Scrooge’s three ghosts.

  • McCain, so we could cook and serve him.

  • Probably McCain  (even though he’s Republican). Hillary would be a close second.

  • Clinton.

    Mostly because I am curious.

  • Clinton, so I could poison the turkey and watch her eat it.

  • Thompson, he’d put me to sleep, since the turkey, tryptophan, sleepiness thing turned out to be a myth.

  • Otherwise, none of them, because I wouldn’t like a side of bullshit with my turkey.

  • > just one? thompson first, obama second, giuliani third….I can read people pretty well, would like to see the expression on the face and body language ( for the squirm) when pressed on the issues and events….

    Peace

  • I think Kucinich would be cool to have.  He’d tell me all about those aliens he always sees.

  • Hillary, I think she’d be the most fun.

  • Thompson of course..

Not only is he great on law and order, but seems sincere all together

  • I’m sorry about your hearing.  You sounded so excited about the possibility of it coming back.  Then again, doctors don’t always know everything, and stranger things have happened…

  • Which one to have for dinner? Hmmm! Depends! It will have to be a small one because I only have a small oven.

  • Obama.

The real question is: now that you have found that out, do you still believe your dreams are possible?

  • Dan, I’m so sorry about the false alarm (if indeed it is – doctors are wrong sometimes), but maybe it was more about learning a lesson than getting your hearing back. God has a way of using dramatic events to teach important things. I’m glad you got it. Now don’t lose the confidence lesson in the disappointment.
I think McCain would be a fascinating guest. He seems to be an interesting man with lots of great stories to tell over coffee and dessert.

  • You! I’d rather have you come to thanksgiving dinner!!

    *HUGS*

  • Ron Paul…or Billary…

Dan- Sorry about the doctor’s news. U still have LOTS to be thankful for, though! Chin up!

  • Don’t count on what the doctor’s say. Remember? I have experience with this. I had doctors telling me that I’d never hear out of my ear again, and if I did, it would be very difficult to actually hear anything.

I can hear just fine out of both of my ears- every now and then, I struggle, but I can hear very well. Do not give up, and seek a second opinion.

  • I agree with everyone else: get a second opinion. The logic sounds kind of weird to me..

Either way, don’t give up the confidence that you got back from thinking that you had your hearing coming back!

  • Clinton.

Only female — she can cook.

  • you shouldn’t have gone to the doctor.  you were happier with thinking you could hear.

  • Huckabee……no question. He was an excellent governer here in Arkansas.

  • None. How awkward.

  • Huckabee, at least I’d have something to talk to him about since he’s a Christian.

  • Didn’t they tell Rush that his hearing would not return?  Don’t lose hope.

    Fred

  • Huckabee – it’d be fun to say his name.

  • It all depends on where the injury occured in regards to your hearing loss..do you know what was injuried?

    To answer your question…Ron Paul.

  • BILL Clinton. Hillary can keep her trifling, triangulating, finger-in-the-wind ass at home.

  • All except for Hillary.  I think it would be a good fun time!

Sorry to hear about your hearing.  Hey, at least you only lost it in one ear…what would have happened if you had lost it in both!?!  (Just helping you count your blessings )

  • none of the above
