Facebook and Myspace
I started my Facebook today. I am hoping to get settled in here tonight. If you would like to add me as a friend, here is my site: Link
I want to give my first impressions of Facebook. I am always confused when using a new product. I am not very technologically inclined so I have to slowly make my way through with the help of someone on IM.
I have asked people what product they like better between Facebook or Myspace.
But it feels different actually spending a few minutes on Facebook. Maybe it is just because it is new but I like the feel of it. I get the feeling that Facebook is a superior product to Myspace.
Which do you feel has better features, Myspace or Facebook?
Comments (100)
Facebook, I like better.
However, myspace is easier to use.
But….xanga is the best out of the 3.
facebook.
I don’t know. I use myspace for networking for a group I run.
fuck i really hate myspace.
Oh, Facebook, without a doubt!
Facebook.
I’m not cool enough for myspace.
I can’t really say because I only have Facebook.
I definitely think that facebook is “superior” to myspace. myspace had a lot of potential…like facebook, you can upload photos and post comments about them, leave posts or messages for your friends, post bulletins (notes), etc. but myspace degenerated into a forum where people just answer pointless bulletin surveys and post half-naked photos of themselves so people can tell them that they’re sexy. it’s become more of a middle school website than anything. on the other hand, facebook is much more popular with high schoolers and college students. it has a more sophisticated, classy feel. the photos that people upload are usually of their friends rather than the camera whore shots you see you on myspace, and people really use it to communicate with others. plus, all of the sites look more or less the same – you don’t get the annoying sparkly backgrounds and music you don’t want to hear like on myspace. although, facebook has so many of those new applications (which I’m guilty of adding), so who knows? facebook could become myspace #2 someday.
ry-IM, and this post — i don’t have a facebook. should i get one?
facebook by FAR
Facebook.
But XANGA’s best.
I just added ya.
Facebook.
I’m not really picky..there are some things that Facebook has that Myspace doesn’t and vice versa. I’ll be adding you so be on the look out.
As I indicated in my wallpost, Facebook is far superior. It’s weird seeing all the comments on your site with people being identified by their actual name as opposed to their screen name.

Facebook all the way! Myspace can be too blinged-out with music, clips, sparkly icons, etc etc etc!!
FACEBOOK. no contest.
ryc: oh yeah, i agree.. but it keeps my brothers entertained, so I won’t complain too much!
I don’t have either, but my daughter spends a lot of time on Facebook. She says MySpace sucks.
for some inexplicable reason, i am more addicted to facebook than i am to myspace. when i started my myspace, i said i wouldn’t ever like it more than xanga. yet, i actually talk to more of my friends on myspace and facebook. i think xanga is the only ‘blog’ that remains solely a ‘blog.’ i think that’s why xanga will always be number 1 to me…
myspace
geez, am i alone on this one?
Facebook is a naive princess like college girl. Slightly flirty but shy and lack experience. Myspace is a banged up whore who sits with her hot legs open. Depends on your taste.
definately myface… i mean, facecrack… i mean,facebook…
Facebook just doesn’t have as many people posting fucking bulletin surveys.
you know I bet if I wasn’t so goddamn exclusionist I’d have gotten as many friends as quickly as you…but me, I don’t like people.
Facebook is better then MySpace. But it lacks some things that xanga has.
facebook. I don’t even use myspace anymore. I find myspace very annoying.
facebook. i’m excited you have one
I hope this does not mean you will be leaving xanga. I enjoy your posts and questions and won’t see them either on myspace or facebook BECAUSE I REFUSE TO USE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
easily facebook. myspace is all cluttered and kinda annoying now. it’s trying to imitate facebook now. it’s unfortunate. and they’re losing.
Myspace…the only way to keep in touch of my old classmates.
eh i dont really like either much, but i used to use myspace alot, but now i just have a facebook to keep in contact with people.
facebook is way better for the simple fact that I don’t have 1000 bots adding me every 15 minutes.
XANGA!
oops. not an answer. who cares.
facebook is far, far superior.
FACEBOOK..i hate myspace now…
i vote facebook- but i dont use myspace and never will, it freaks me out a litte
I’m more for facebook. It’s a simpler to use and not nearly as dangeorus. If you want to make facebok complex with apps, you can, but people don’t spend much time caring about formatting or music. Also, privacy has way more options. If you want to find people you’ve never met and make friends with them, you definitely can, but there isn’t any problem with people trying to collect 2,000,000 friends and such. It’s more personal. I still like xanga best of all because a person can be extremely personal and write a ton, but facebook is a good medium for everyone.
I didn’t care for MySpace. Facebook is quick and convenient for seeing one liners about your friends and for just a quick “I’m here!” for the rest of the world.
i didn’t realize i had actually completed the facebook “thing” until receiving your friend invite. but i don’t remember my name or password so i can’t “friend” you at facebook.
There are enough utterly terrible MySpce profiles – aurally and visually – to warrant a belief in FB’s superiority. It’s starting to get overrun by third-party applications, but even those are contained in nice little blue boxes.
facebook – it’s cozier and it doesn’t remind me of high school drama!
facebook is easier to navigate and i feel in a community with my college friends rather than with myspace when i only feel connected to those who post bulletins every 2 mintues.
Facebook
I’ve never understood Myspace. I view Facebook as being much more sophisticated.
I don’t have Facebook so I can’t compare the two. My MySpace is really mostly for keeping in touch with old friends and my cousins…
I have Facebook and Bebo. I don’t have MySpace. I still like Xanga better for many reasons.
Facebook, for sure.
1)you can upload a lot more pictures, tag people, have people tag you, etc. it’s EXCELLENT if you like pictures.
2)like someone said, NO STUPID BULLETINS that just talk about being killed at midnight if you don’t pass a stupid chain letter on.
3)lots of other features that myspace doesn’t have, that really get you interacting with people.
Of course-Xanga is still my #1 though.
facebook is way more useful in Myspace, because its pretty much a college staple. No fake profiles or weird HTML layouts. When you have a lot of social events going on and pictures are taken, its pretty much assumed that they’ll be put on facebook.
Facebook.
facebook. the color scheme makes evrerything seem more simple and everything is easily accessable.
facebook seems better than Myspace but all of these things are just things to take us away from reality….ok well then they are all good!! I added ya!
facebook. duuuh.
Facebook, for sure. I don’t even use MySpace. btw – you sure are a popular guy!
facebook, no competition
difinitly facebook….but i spend mst my time on myspace….for some reason… :/
If you know how to edit your page using STYLE or HTML then myspace is beter… but if you just want something kinda plain with some applications then facebook. I like both for different reasons. I kinda liked facebook more at first cause it was just college students but now anyone can join, so the conversations have gone a little more downhill sometimes in the groups. Right now I like facebook because it has aplications but I like myspace because I can edit fonts and backgrounds on my page… and of course xanga because of its bloging importance.
Daniel (doubledb)
just added you.
i like myspace, sorry.i have a facebook. i think it’s gay.
I love Facebook
.
No idea. MySpaces all look the same. Facebook won’t let me look at at pages without joining first. Snobs.
Screw Myspace
I have used both and this will hurt me to say facebook. If Xanga was included in. then Xanga will win it hands down for me.
If you have time to read things, I weighed in on Facebook here and then again here.
But the most readable is what I think about MySpace.
The outlook for both is they really couldn’t win a fight against Xanga, even if they tag teamed with blogspot and wordpress.
I was immediately impressed by facebook. I like it a lot better than myspace. It feels… cleaner… somehow. It doesn’t have huge ads jumping out at you, I’m not constantly getting error messages when trying to leave comments, etc, the layouts feels less cluttered. It feels more mature somehow.
I don’t have a Facebook, so I can’t really say, fairly.
Except for the stupid apps, I do feel the facebook is more superior than MySpace.
definatly the old facebook. there are tons of new add-ons now that are just bizarre, but if you don’t add those, then facebook is great and really easy to handle.
Facebook
Facebook has some pretty useless (yet possibly entertaining) features while MySpace is good with graphics (backgrounds, music, etc). I like Facebook much better. It’s more organized and has less teenybopper “hi I’m SaRaH and I LiKe the CoLoR pUrPlE!”
facebook; myspace blows
Facebook by far!
facebook by default
i think facebook realized simply taking things people use as timewasters and making that the focus instead of blogging would create a better site
Facebook! The whole layout of myspace just feels wrong to me.
But Xanga is def. my favorite because the actual blog entries are fully visible (every time I write something on Facebook, I end up bitching about how much hassle it is to write/read notes on there as compared to Xanga).
facebook all the way!
although i don’t have a myspace so who am i to say?
facebook by far.
I cannot believe you just started your facebook and already have 322 friends! you really are somebody Dan!
I have all 3 but I kind of like facebook. i got sick of writing about myself on xanga….
Facebook is much much better than myspace. It is defiitely more developed.
facebook!
facebook… i couldnt figure out myspace at all
Facebook
I added you
. I don’t get on facebook much though.
facebook but xanga’s better
Facebook baby! I poked you yesterday. I’m adding you today.
facebook always seemed superior to me … thats why i got a facebook and not a myspace. myspace is just plain ugly. U-G-L-Y.
I think myspace is better.
Not enough people I know have facebook.
myspace
I don’t have a Facebook or a Myspace, so I wouldn’t know. I’m satisfied with Xanga.
facebook- it’s less chaotic, and people seem to really know each other than jsut adding tons of friends. in addition, it’s a great way to keep in touch with old friends.
Xanga above all, but I cancelled myspace – I could not figure the darn thing out – I would get to many e-mails, too much junk, and it was so over stuffed with adds.
Facebook by far.
FACEBOOK
facebook is 1000% better
facebook
Facebook is much better and fun than Myspace.
Facebook is a better product but I don’t care for either’s features.
Facebook… Did you know you can import your xanga so each update goes onto your facebook profile as well?
I use xangaface and xangaspace. they work fine.
facebook. but it has become dangerous territory for recruiters looking to hire new people out of college. at UT in one of the intro business classes, they actually stress how we shouldn’t put ridiculous pictures of ourselves doing stupid things in case someone googles our name or looks on facebook before the interview.
apparently it’s a new trend businesses have.
Facebook
myspace is retarded… I have my issues with facebook and all, but it seems like a much better program to me
Overall I like Myspace better. Except for the fact that it never used to have all of those damn error messages. The only reason I have Facebook is because that’s what most of my friends have (I want to keep in touch) and I can put an unlimited amount of pictures up.
